Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 1, 2024

WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative Shawn Michaels shows up to start tonight's show. Shawn welcomes everyone to the premiere of NXT on The CW in Chicago, Illinois, then introduces new designs for the NXT Championship and the NXT Women's Championship before asking everyone if they are ready. Suddenly, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque shows up to join Shawn, then the first match of the night begins.

Roxanne Perez retains the NXT Women's Championship against Giulia after trying to introduce the championship into the match as a weapon, allowing a woman in a black hoodie to attack Giulia behind the referee's back. After the match, the mystery woman is revealed to be Cora Jade, who has been out of action for months.

We see Nathan Frazer and Axiom playing WWE 2K24 as they talk about their upcoming tag team title match.

Backstage, CM Punk meets with NXT General Manager Ava. He assures Ava that the winner of tonight's NXT Championship match will be the rightful NXT Champion. Suddenly, Lexis King shows up and meets with Punk, saying he does not want to be like his father and wants to be the better man. He also talks about how he lost his match last week, and Punk tells him it looks like Lexis is fighting with two wolves and trying to figure out which one to listen to.

Backstage, Jaida Parker and Lola Vice argue over who takes the lead as well as who needs who, but Kelani Jordan shows up and tells them they need each other. Lola and Jaida leave, still arguing, but Kelani mentions that she has a backup plan.

Wes Lee beats Zachary Wentz in a Street Fight.

CW Network representatives are seen in the front row.

It's time for Miz TV. Tonight's guests are Tony D'Angelo and Oba Femi. Oba Femi heads to the ring first, followed by Tony D'Angelo. D'Angelo is accompanied by The D'Angelo Family (Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, Adrianne Rizzo, Luca Crusifino) until he walks down the ramp. D'Angelo says that all of his life, he has been the man to spark fear in the hearts of others and solve a few problems doing it, but Oba has been able to do it as of late as he has felt his power, aggressiveness and explosiveness, but he has used this fear as motivation to do the unthinkable. He says that next week, he will face and beat Oba Femi and become the new NXT North American Champion. Oba Femi says The Miz has been in the game long enough to know when somebody believes what they are saying, and that D'Angelo does not believe a word of what he says. He says that D'Angelo has been successful in NXT, but his success has a ceiling, and no matter what he does, he will never be North American Champion, as the title is his. D'Angelo says Oba Femi talks about him like he knows him when he has grown up twenty minutes from tonight's venue in Chicago, Illinois. He says he has family in the back and the crowd, both extended and immediate, who motivate him to be who he is. Oba tells D'Angelo that nobody, let alone his family, cannot fight for him, and it will be just the two of them in the ring. He says that he broke and beat D'Angelo and put doubt in his mind before, and he still cannot beat him. D'Angelo says Oba Femi is just a man, but Oba says he is inevitable while D'Angelo is still broken.

Backstage, Cora Jade says that everyone forgot about her in the hype over Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Roxanne Perez shows up, and Cora Jade says that she likes the woman she has become. Roxanne says a common enemy may bring them back together.

Kelani Jordan guests on commentary for the next match.

The Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley) beat Jaida Parker and Lola Vice after Lola goes for the tag only for Jazmyn Nyx to distract Jaida, and when Lola gets knocked into Jaida's back, Jaida takes it as Lola attacking her from behind and walks out on the match. After the match, Jacy Jayne says that The Fatal Influence has made a statement, and Fallon Henley calls the Women's North American Championship their next target. Kelani Jordan says she knew she would be called out and that they can go right now, but she did not show up alone. Suddenly, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair show up, and the three of them clean house.

We see a vignette of Je'Von Evans talking about his match with one of his idols in Randy Orton next week.

We see a video package of "All Ego" Ethan Page's time in NXT and the events leading up to his NXT Championship defense against Trick Williams tonight.

We see a vignette for another wrestler coming to NXT.

Trick Williams beats "All Ego" Ethan Page to become NXT Champion for a second time after slipping out of the Ego's Edge and grabbing special guest referee CM Punk - who calls the match down the middle, as promised - on the way to the corner and is placed in the corner by Punk. After the match, CM Punk gives Ethan Page a GTS.
