Generation NXT - NXT recap for October 17, 2023

Andre Chase and Duke Hudson last beat Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza in ten-team Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal following the distraction by Brutus Creed, who was eliminated along with Julius Creed by Humberto and Garza after the latter team was tossed over the top rope while the referees on the outside were distracted by a brawl between The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) and OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price).

Backstage, Blair Davenport says it is not over between her and Gigi Dolin and that she is now more dangerous than ever, and that she wants to derail Dolin's career. She then challenges Dolin to a match at Halloween Havoc.

We hear from Lexis King, who says that he never really knew or loved his father Brian Pillman and that Pillman spent more time in hotel rooms than with him, and that Halloween Havoc is the start of his career, not the continuation of someone else's. He says he will start his own path and become a bigger name than his father ever was.

Carmelo Hayes heads to the ring. Carmelo talks about being in the ring with John Cena and The Undertaker before Baron Corbin shows up. Corbin says Carmelo sounds like a fanboy and that he thought Carmelo would be different from the rest of the locker room, saying fans should be in the stands and not the locker room. Corbin tells Carmelo to concentrate more on being a Superstar than a fan before Dijak shows up. Dijak tells Corbin and Carmelo to be more concerned about what he will do to them before he beats Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship and tells Carmelo that all the showboating will make no difference against him. Dijak also says that Corbin cries in the back because people do not want to shake his hand and that people are afraid of him, but Corbin says Dijak does not know him and that he is stupid. As Dijak threatens to beat both Corbin and Carmelo up, Dragunov shows up on the TitanTron and says all three men should be focused on their match tonight, as he will be watching to see who will challenge him for the NXT Championship. He also states that before the end of last week's show, he made one last decision, making their match a Fatal 4-Way with the last competitor being Trick Williams, who shows up. Dijak accuses Carmelo of stabbing Carmelo in the back and Corbin makes fun of Trick Williams' blue jeans, then Trick verbally fires back before telling Carmelo things are still good between them. Corbin accuses Trick of making the match a Fatal Four-Way behind Carmelo's back, but Carmelo is not shaken, saying he will beat whoever it takes to become champion. After Dijak asks Carmelo about Trick, Corbin and Dijak go for a cheap shot, but Carmelo and Trick fend them off as a team.

Backstage, Fallon Henley talks to the rest of the women's locker room about the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament from last year. Suddenly, Tiffany Stratton shows up and calls Henley a loser who spends time at a horse farm with dirt underneath her nails after Henley calls her a stuck-up, egotistical bitch.

Karmen Petrovic beats Jaida Parker by submission to advance in the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament.

Backstage, Tegan Nox is met by Natalya, who says she wanted to be here for tonight after she was there for her on Raw.

Lyra Valkyria beats Tegan Nox following the distraction from Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. After the match, Tegan and Natalya brawl with Chelsea and Piper to the back before Lyra says that nobody was standing in her way to a title match at Halloween Havoc and that all of her decisions have led her to a title match with Becky. She says that when Becky returned to her old wrestling school, she say something in her, but when she looked to becoming the first Irish-born NXT Women's Champion, Becky took that from her. She says that Becky may have won the title first, but she will still beat her for it. Becky shows up on the TitanTron and says she is proud of her and that she has been watching her for years, and that she has been wanting to share the ring with Lyra. She says that Lyra is good, but she is better, and when Lyra comes for her title, she comes for the reason she leaves her home and does what she does and she has to fight like her life depends on it. She says that when they step in the ring, Lyra will have to despise her and wear the chip on her shoulder that got her here.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes talks with Trick Williams. Trick Williams says he got advice from John Cena before doing this, and apologizes for putting him through this. Carmelo then says that he has to do what he has to do, and Trick agrees, saying they will always be friends.

Backstage, Gigi Dolin says Halloween Havoc is her favorite event of the year, then reveals the wheel of stipulations and spins it. It lands on "Lights Out Match," and she tells Blair Davenport it will be lights out next week.

We see footage of Von Wagner in rehab from earlier this week. As Von Wagner struggles to get stronger, Mr. Stone says he may have started this, but when Von gets back to 100%, he will end things with Bron Breakker.

Shotzi Blackheart beats Kiana James after hitting Kiana with her own business bag and tricking the referee into thinking Kiana hit her with it after Roxanne Perez shows up to stop Kiana from cheating.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Lash Legend and Oro Mensah. It is (humorously) revealed that Jakara Jackson is not medically cleared. Akira Tozawa shows up looking for Noam Dar, and tells Oro Mensah that he is looking for Noam. Afterwards, it is revealed that Trick Williams has been attacked backstage.

It is reported by Kelly Kincaid that Trick Williams has been relocated to a local hospital for further evaluation and is out of tonight's main event, making the match a Triple Threat Match again.Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell tries to interview "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, and Nathan Frazer shows up and attacks Dominik. Their brawl goes all the way to the ring, and Rhea Ripley has to save Dominik from a Phoenix Splash.

Backstage, Shotzi notices that Roxanne Perez has become a lot better since they teamed up on SmackDown a year ago, then find the wheel of stipulations. Roxanne spins it and lands on "Devil's Playground Match," and says the playground will be Kiana James' hell.

Before the next match, Arianna Grace says it is always devastating to see someone get hurt and that her heart goes out to Jakara Jackson, as she was also sidelined by a worse injury and she came back better than ever. She hopes Jakara also comes back better, too, although it pains her deeply to accept her bye into the semi-finals of the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament. Suddenly, her new opponent, Brinley Reece, heads to the ring.

Arianna Grace beats Brinley Reece to advance in the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament after Arianna rakes Brinley's face and gouges her eyes outside of the referee's vision.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Bron Breakker. Bron says last week's episode was the biggest in history because of him, then Mr. Stone shows up. Bron tells Mr. Stone to run back to Wagner and help him with his rehab, but Mr. Stone confronts Bron for what he did to Von Wagner and says he wants him at Halloween Havoc. Bron laughs as he accepts the challenge, then tells Mr. Stone to call a hospital.

Carmelo Hayes beats Dijak and Baron Corbin after Corbin hits Dijak with End of Days and Carmelo hits Corbin from out of nowhere with Nothing But Net to face Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc.

Backstage, Lyra Valkyria looks at a picture of herself with Becky Lynch, and says that in one time, Becky's title is hers. As she tears up the picture and leaves, Jade Cargill shows up on the nearby television and points at her wrist.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
