Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for October 27, 2023

It is announced that John Cena will face Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel.

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman head to the ring to start tonight's show, but before they can head to the ring, LA Knight suddenly shows up, walks past them and heads to the ring for the contract signing being overseen by General Manager Nick Aldis. LA Knight sits at the head of the table, and refuses to budge or allow Heyman to move the table before he demands that the contract be signed. Nick Aldis welcomes everyone to tonight's show before overseeing the contract signing. LA Knight says that the contract states that Roman Reigns will hand the Undisputed WWE Championship over to him before signing, then allows Roman to do the same. Roman thinks LA Knight is crazy just for immediately signing away, then asks him if he has ever had a contract signing and if he has ever had a championship match before, then says Knight has no clue what he is doing. Roman then says he will go easy on him before signing the contract with a pen that Heyman has provided him. When it does not work, he signs the contract with the second pen that Heyman has provided him. The crowd chants "Roman's scared" before Nick Aldis leaves the ring and wishes both Roman and Knight the best of luck at Crown Jewel. As Roman gets up to leave, LA Knight says he is the head of the table and tells Roman to acknowledge him, then tells Roman that he is already beaten if he underestimates him and that he will take his title as part of a climb so fast Roman will not know what hit him. Knight says this is his first time, but he only needs one time, for while Roman was failing over and over again and saying "Sufferin' Succotash," he has been telling everyone whose game this is as there can only be WWE Champion and one him. He says he cannot stop his gravy train and "the undeniable kevorka" and that he cannot stop being him, then Roman topples the table over Knight and attacks him. Roman soon pulls another table out from underneath the ring and sets it up, but that gives LA Knight time to recover and turn the attack around. Suddenly, Jimmy Uso shows up and attacks LA Knight. Roman and Heyman leave the ring before LA Knight puts Jimmy Uso through the table.

The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) beat The Latino World Order (Santos Escobar and Carlito). During the match, Rey Mysterio, who was originally scheduled for this match before Carlito wanted revenge, is watching the match from backstage when he is attacked from behind by Logan Paul. Carlito runs to the back to come to Rey's aid, and The Street Profits soon hit Escobar with The Revelation for the win.

Backstage, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns look at a custom WWE title made for the Green Bay Packers. He says he will give it to LA Knight, as it is the closest Knight or the Packers will ever be to being champions. Jimmy Uso shows up from the trainer's room, and Roman says that if they do not handle LA Knight, it will be over next week. He then commands Heyman to make a match between Jimmy Uso and LA Knight official for tonight.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Logan Paul, who says that his fist is as big as Rey Mysterio's head and that one should never let their opponent know their next move before leaving. He briefly runs into Kevin Owens, who is then confronted by Grayson Waller and Austin Theory for saying they have punchable faces, and officials have to walk in before things get physical and as Owens bets she can both of them in the face at once. As Theory and Waller talk while Owens walks away, they are sucker punched all of a sudden by Owens.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Dragon Lee, who says he is happy to be on SmackDown when Cedric Alexander shows up and says Dragon Lee reminds him of himself when he entered WWE, and that he would love nothing more than to have a match with him. Dragon Lee accepts.

Shotzi beats Chelsea Green after countering a lazy pinfall attempt proceeding excessive showboating into a crucifix pin.

It is announced that WWE will be in Berlin, Germany for "The Bash In Berlin" on Saturday, August 31st, 2024.

LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso is official for later tonight.

John Cena heads to the ring. Cena says there is a special energy in the building tonight, but for him, the energy is a little different, for while the energy is special, it is serious for him and has not been this serious since WWE tried to fire him twenty years ago. He says that for over twenty years, he has given his heart and soul and the fans give him the noise whether he likes it or not, support when he needed it most, and respect. He says Crown Jewel is serious, because for the first time in over twenty years, he feels he is in jeopardy of losing the fans' support and respect. The fans chant "You still got it!", but Cena asks "What if I don't?" He says the data cannot be ignored and if he cannot deliver soon, he will lose the fans, and he wants to keep this ride going. Cena says there is only one thing left to do at Crown Jewel: win. He says that WWE uses the term "must-see" a lot, and Crown Jewel is as must-see as it is "must-win." He says respect is earned and that it is one thing to guarantee a victory, but it is time to dig deep and deliver. Suddenly, Paul Heyman shows up and says he is here with no hustle, with loyalty only to the truth and with respect. Heyman offers his hand and shakes hands with Cena, then thanks him for everything and talks about how he drafted Cena to WWE and how he raised his kids to be more like Cena than like him. He says that Cena may not be the greatest of all time after losing to Roman Reigns, but he is still the greatest of all time at communication and that he can talk like no one else to the point that Cena could have been like him if he just kept talking. Heyman then states that Cena "pissed off The Bloodline," and says that while Cena have come back from various injuries, he will not come back from Solo Sikoa's Samoan Spike and he will never talk again. He says that if Solo takes Cena's voice away, it will take Cena's voice away from the fans, and that Cena will not be able to win this "must-win" match. Suddenly, Cena is attacked from behind by Solo Sikoa. Solo hits the Spinning Solo, then hits the Samoan Spike.

Backstage, we hear from LA Knight, who says The Bloodline needs to worry about who they pissed off, and if Jimmy Uso wants to put him through a table again, he will ride him around by hair while asking him whose game it is.

Dragon Lee beats Cedric Alexander.

Bianca Belair heads to the ring. Bianca says she is excited to be back on SmackDown, and that while she was away, she had only the backstage attack on her by Damage CTRL (Bayley, Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai) on her mind. She says this did something to her not only physically, but mentally, because for the first time, she was sitting at home with nothing but her thoughts, and she had only thoughts on how to make Damage CTRL pay as she got stronger. Bianca says that for the first time in her life, she was consumed by vengeance, and that vengeance only fueled her and gave her a plan. She says that at Crown Jewel, she is getting her rematch against Iyo Sky for the WWE Women's Championship. Bianca then says that is not all, because next week, she will go one-on-one with Bayley, for her vengeance will not be complete until she takes out Damage CTRL.

Players from the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team are seen in the crowd.

LA Knight beats Jimmy Uso. After the match, Roman Reigns rushes at LA Knight, but LA Knight dodges him and sends him into the corner before hitting him with the BFT.

This week on The SmackDown LowDown: Kevin Owens! Damage CTRL (Bayley, Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai)! Shotzi (and Chelsea Green and Piper Niven)!

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
