Halloween Havoc, Part One - NXT recap for October 24, 2023

New Years Day performs "Vampyre" at the start of tonight's show.

Scarlett and Shotzi are the hosts for tonight's show. They announces that the Devil's Playground Match between Roxanne Perez and Kiana James is the opening match for tonight's show.

Roxanne Perez beats Kiana James in a Devil's Playground match after hitting Kiana with her own business bag before hitting a Pop Rox on it. After the match, it is revealed that there was a brick in Kiana James' business bag.

In backstage footage from yesterday, Vic Joseph interviews Carmelo Hayes. He says both he and Trick Williams wanted the NXT Championship, but he did not attack him. As for his NXT Championship match with Ilja Dragunov, it is all about not just the NXT title, but the title of "Him," and he cannot be "Him" without the title. When asked if he would be in this match had Trick not been injured, he says yes, as he has to do what he has to do.

Backstage, Shotzi and Scarlett predict a not-so-good future for Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson) through tarot cards, predicting that the NXT Heritage Cup will soon give Noam Dar grief. Akira Tozawa shows up and steals the NXT Heritage Cup from underneath Meta-Four's collective nose.

Lexis King beats Dante Chen in his NXT debut.

Backstage, Andre Chase and Duke Hudson talk about their tag team match with Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne when Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo shows up and wish Chase and Hudson luck tonight.

Kelani Jordan beats Arianna Grace to advance to the finals of the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament.

In footage from earlier today, Von Wagner is still undergoing rehab when Mr. Stone shows up. Mr. Stone tells Von Wagner that he knows he will get beaten up next week, but if he can knock the smirk off of Bron Breakker's face, it will be worth it. Von Wagner says he will not be anywhere near ready to be in Mr. Stone's corner next week, but Mr. Stone says he is not worried and that he has got this. Von Wagner smiles as Mr. Stone leaves.

Shotzi and Scarlett plug their "Chamber of Horrors" series on WWE's YouTube channel when Diamond Mine shows up. Julius Creed says that Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza cost them a tag team title shot, and Shotzi says the match should not just be a normal tag match. Shotzi spins the wheel, and The Creed Brothers' match next week becomes a Tables, Ladders and Scares Match.

Chase University (Andre Chase and Duke Hudson) beat The D'Angelo Family (Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo) to become the NXT Tag Team Champions! During the match, Jacy Jayne hands Andre Chase a crowbar, but Andre tosses it away, saying he does not need it to win. Jacy Jayne soon gets on the apron, and D'Angelo gets knocked into Jacy, knocking Jacy off the apron and distracting D'Angelo, allowing Andre Chase to roll D'Angelo up for the win and the tag team titles.

It's time for Nathan Frazer's Hard Home Hitting Home Truths. Nathan Frazer talks about his tiff with "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, then says he came back from injury last year to improve and that next week, he will face Dominik for the North American title.

We see some predictions from Ireland as to who will win between Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women's Championship.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Baron Corbin, who says that he came so close to win but so close, and says that he did everything in his power to win. He also says that if he wanted to take Trick Williams out, he would do it to his face, then says anybody could have attacked Trick backstage last week. He says that all he cares about Ilja Dragunov and the NXT Championship, and says Dragunov should have his head on a swivel if he retains next week.

Blair Davenport beats Gigi Dolin in a Lights Out Match.

In backstage footage from yesterday, Vic Joseph interviews Ilja Dragunov. Dragunov looks forward to becoming a great champion, and says that his attack will only intensify now that he is no longer the challenger, and that Carmelo Hayes will break like he did at No Mercy. He says that Carmelo Hayes will enter their match next week as a desperate man and that Carmelo will not be as focused now than he was the first time, and that the intangibles will be the deciding factor.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes is met by Shotzi and Scarlett, who say that the cards point to him when it comes to the attack on Trick Williams.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Tiffany Stratton, who says that she does not care who wins the Women's Division Championship and that she cares only about next week's title match. All of a sudden, Fallon Henley shows up dressed like Tiffany and makes fun of her, and Tiffany pretends to leave only to punch Fallon in the face and start a backstage brawl.

Lola Vice beats Karmen Petrovic to advance to the finals of the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament.

Backstage, Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Thea Hail and Jacy Jayne celebrate their tag team title victory when Piper Niven and Chelsea Green show up. This leads to Jacy and Thea arguing with Niven and Chelsea and Jacy proposing a match for the Women's tag titles.

Backstage, Noam Dar screams at a security guard when Lash Legend finds out through her phone that Akira Tozawa has taken the NXT Heritage Cup and that Noam Dar will have to come and get it at a haunted house to get it back.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes is met by Bron Breakker, who says that he has proved he will do whatever it takes to stay on top and that Carmelo has done the same by attacking Trick Williams, and tells him that if he brings "that same 'Melo" next week, he will be champion again. He then says that after he knocks Mr. Stone out, it will be him versus Carmelo again.

Jade Cargill shows up and sits on a throne to watch the next match from a distance.

Lyra Valkyria beats Becky Lynch to become the NXT Women's Champion after reversing the Manhandle Slam into a pinfall attempt. After the match, Becky Lynch personally hands the NXT Women's Championship to Lyra Valkyria and riases her hand.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
