Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for April 7, 2023

The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch) beat Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) in a six-man tag match.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa. After Heyman demands that nobody boo his name, Heyman mentions The Bloodline headlining both nights of WrestleMania and Roman Reigns approaching 1,000 days as champion before Jey Uso shows up and asks where Jimmy Uso is. Heyman tells him that Jimmy is not here and that Roman wanted him to watch the show on television at home while Jey solves "The Sami Zayn Problem" on his own. Jey leaves, and Heyman says that either Jey solves it tonight or Solo will solve problems tonight.

Ricochet beats Ivar.

Backstage, Sami Zayn meets with Kevin Owens, who is leering at the tag team titles. Owens says they have taken The Bloodline's titles, and now Sami can settle things with Jey Uso once and for all. Sami tells Owens that what he is saying is true, but he feels something is off and that he feels obligated to talk to Jey Uso. Owens tells Sami that Jey is more volatile and dangerous than ever after WrestleMania, and that this is not a good idea, but Sami says he has to do this.

Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan beat Natalya and Shotzi.

Backstage, Madcap Moss and Xavier Woods are playing WWE 2K23 with Emma watching when LA Knight shows up and says that he was missing last weekend in Los Angeles. He also takes offense to Xavier Woods getting an appearance on both nights on WrestleMania with video games, but Xavier Woods says that if LA Knight worked as well as he talked, he would have been on WrestleMania. Woods also makes it clear that he has no problem shutting Knight up in the ring. Knight tells him that this is real life and not a video game before breaking Woods' PlayStation 5 controller, and Madcap has to hold Woods back.

Triple H heads to the ring. He says that there is nothing in the world like WrestleMania where the world's best wrestlers make history on the grandest stage of them all in a place where hearts are broken and dreams are fulfilled, and that this year exceeded all expectations. He also says that millions watched as over 161,000 people packed the So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles, California as nearly every WrestleMania record was broken before stating that WrestleMania is "behind us" and that WWE is looking to the future. Triple H announces that in a few short weeks, it will be time for the WWE Draft, which changes the future and destiny of every Superstar in the locker room. He says the Draft is bigger than ever before with everyone in WWE eligible, and that this year's Draft will truly change the game. Triple H then introduces someone who is also changing the game with her win at WrestleMania: Rhea Ripley. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio) then head to the ring, and Ripley says April 1st, 2023 will go down in history as the night that sports entertainment changed forever when she did the impossible and destroyed and dethroned Charlotte Flair. Ripley then says it is time that everyone "rises for Mami" and rises for the biggest star and greatest champion in all of WWE. Finn Balor then addresses Edge lacerating his head in their Hell In A Cell match, and even though he has fourteen staples in his head, he is still standing while Edge is nowhere to be seen. Dominik Mysterio says that at WrestleMania, he decided not to show aggression towards his father Rey Mysterio before saying that a father who lays his hands on his own son really sucks and that he pulled his own punches because he could not hurt his own father. The crowd boos him very loudly as Dominik says that he could still see the anger in his father's eyes and that he understands where the lines are drawn, and that the rest of the Mysterio family "can go to Hell" and that Rey can take Bad Bunny and his friends with him. Damian Priest tells Bad Bunny as a friend that he hopes he can find it in his heart to forgive him after what happened on Monday, as he forgives Bad Bunny for making him do what he did to him. Rey Mysterio then shows up with Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega), still known as the LWO, for the next match.

The Judgment Day (Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio) beat Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar after Zelina Vega attacks Rhea Ripley for getting involved in the match and getting her to chase her through the crowd.

Backstage, Sami Zayn looks for Jey Uso.

It is announced that Shinsuke Nakamura returns to SmackDown next week.

Backstage, Jey Uso is met by Sami Zayn, who tells him that there is still a way out for him after all that has happened and that everything he said would happen is true. He says that if he has to beat even more sense into him to get him to realize it, he will do it, but at the same time, this is not how it has to be. Suddenly, a loud metallic crash is heard, and it is revealed that Solo Sikoa has attacked Kevin Owens with a road crate. Jey Uso watches while Paul Heyman looks on in the background, then Jey leaves.

Backstage, Sami Zayn tells Kayla Braxton that Kevin Owens that he is being looked at in the trainer's room and that Owens will not be coming out, and that Owens was right about The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) being more dangerous than before. He then says that Jey Uso will learn that he is not the only person who has a problem to solve now.

Jey Uso beats Sami Zayn. During the match, Solo Sikoa shows up, and he eventually hits Sami with the Samoan Spike behind the referee's back to give Jey the win. After the match, Solo Sikoa helps Jey Uso up, then Solo Sikoa headbutts and punches Sami. As he goes for another Samoan Spike, Jey stops him and tells him that is enough before superkicking Sami Zayn in the face and telling Solo to get a chair. All of a sudden, Matt Riddle runs into the ring and fights Jey Uso, then hits a knee on both Solo and Jey before ducking the Samoan Spike and sending Solo into a retreat with a flurry of offense.
