Spring Break, Part One - Memphis Wrestling recap for April 8, 2023

We hear from Big John Dalton and Lince Dorado, who announce a Spring Break open challenge.

Dustin Starr interviews K-Toomer at the announce desk. K-Toomer says he should be standing as Memphis Wrestling Heritage Champion, but he will get to that. Right now, he has to beat up The Circuz (Barnabus the Leader and Marcus the Strong), whom he calls "Vin Diesel in a leotard" and "Willy Wonka, or whatever he wants to call himself," and that this will be an execution, not a match. He also warns "The GunShow" Brett Michaels that the fans will chant for him and that he has something he wants, and that he wants the gold. As K-Toomer tells Brett that he is coming for him, Brett shows up. Brett says he would not expect anything less and tells him not to worry as he still has his opportunity coming and that they will do it and do it right, and until that opportunity comes, he will watch his back from here on it. K-Toomer tells Brett that until this goes full circle, he will also have his back, as he wants him at 100% and he wants no excuses when he is Memphis Heritage Champion.

Bulletproof Bruce - now known as Brother Bruce - vs. Ray Collins ends when Reverend Ash Taylor brings out Brother Red in response to being punched off the ring apron and Brother Red grabs Ray Collins by the throat for a choke slam. Before Brother Red can do anything, "Big Swole" Justin Cole shows up and makes the save for Ray Collins, and Ash, Red, and Bruce retreat. (Brother Bruce and Jennifer Justice, the latter now known as Sister Jennifer, are now known as "The Righteous Path.")

We see some recent footage of Grind City Wrestling Night featuring Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer.

Backstage, Big John Dalton meets with Gio Savage and Draco needing a tag team partner for today's tag team battle royal. Gio says Big John Dalton is the man and knows how to do his thing, but Draco says that they have his back. Dalton continues his search for a tag team partner.

Zay Washington beats Lince Dorado in a Spring Board open challenge with a Sunset Flip out of a hurricanrana from Lince. Both Washington and Lince shake hands after the match.

We hear from The Posse (Simon and Mr. Chris). Simon asks Derrick King if he still believes he is greater than great, as his ego keeps him from thinking he is anything less. He then says nobody in Memphis believes in Derrick anymore. Mr. Chris tells Derrick King that this will not be over until they put him in the nursing home with his childhood heroes.

Backstage, Ellsworth Enterprises (Matt Williams and Storybook Prince Gaston) talk with James Ellsworth over the phone, saying that everything is fine and that they are waiting for confirmation that everything will go as planned. When Storybook Prince Gaston gets a call from "the boss lady," Matt Williams shoos the camera away.

Before the next match, Memphis Redbirds mascot Rocky Redbird shows up as Big John Dalton's tag team partner.

The L.A. Hustlers (Notorious Bradley and Ruffshot Lamont) last eliminate Gio Savage and Draco to win a tag team battle royal and become #1 contenders to the Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Championships after Lamont eliminates Draco on the outside shortly after Draco eliminates him and Bradley hits a distracted Gio Savage in the face with a chain wrapped around his fist before eliminating him.

Before the next match, Barnabus the Leader announces that Marcus the Strong will use his body to permanently eliminate K-Toomer forever.

Maurice the Strong beats K-Toomer. At the start of the match, "The GunShow" Brett Michaels shows up to watch the match from ringside. Later on in the match, Barnabas the Leader gets in the ring and sneaks a crowbar to Maurice the Strong. As Maurice is about to strike K-Toomer in the back with the crowbar, Brett Michaels takes the crowbar away from Maurice, but when he is about to hit Maurice with a GunShow Lariat, Maurice gets out of the way and Brett clocks K-Toomer with it instead, allowing Maurice to get the win as Barnabas keeps Brett out of the ring. After the match, Brett Michaels and K-Toomer have an argument in the middle of the ring.
