Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for April 14, 2023

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn head to the ring to start tonight's show. Sami says it has only been two weeks since the most historical night of all time when the tag team titles were the main event of WrestleMania and two men who started out with nothing as friends closed out the show by winning them. He says that with The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and the uncertainty of the WWE Draft, they have not had the time to think about that, then Owens knows for a fact that regardless of what happens, they are still the undisputed tag team champions of WWE and they will defend their titles with everything they have. Owens also says that he knows that The Usos are coming for a rematch, then The Usos and Solo Sikoa show up. The Usos tell Owens and Sami that they know nothing about pressure and that they were champs for two years, but Sami says they have to report empty-handed to Roman Reigns.Jimmy tells Sami that The Usos are more dangerous than ever and that The Bloodline are stronger than ever, and that they will soon become nine-time tag team champions, and Jey says that they have no cracks in The Bloodline and that they are solid. He also says that Owens and Sami would fold under pressure and that Sami will stab Owens in the back like he did his whole family. Sami says he wishes he was as good at anything as Jey is at lying to himself, and he can tell The Usos are not here just to talk. Jey says they did not, then The Usos and Solo Sikoa surround the ring before Matt Riddle shows up and pulls Solo off the ring apron. This starts a brawl where Sami, Owens and Riddle come out on top. Riddle ducks the Samoan Spike and hits two Final Flashes, but The Usos pulls Solo out of the ring as Riddle goes to the top rope.

Backstage, WWE official Adam Pearce tells the referee to find Solo Sikoa and Matt Riddle, as they will settle things in tonight's main event.

Xavier Woods beats LA Knight after grabbing the tights on the roll-up, which he does not get caught doing - unlike LA Knight - due to the tights grab not being in full view of the referee.

The WWE Draft begins in two weeks.

Backstage, Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) meets, and Gunther discuss their strategies in German. Xavier Woods shows up and keeps interrupting them with his trombone, and Gunther demands that Woods confront him in a respectful manner before calling him a goof and saying he does not like goofs. Backstage, Imperium meets, and Gunther discuss their strategies in German. Xavier Woods shows up and keeps interrupting them with his trombone, and Gunther demands that Woods confront him in a respectful manner before calling him a goof and saying he does not like goofs. Woods like where this is going, and challenges Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship, which he has never had a shot at.

Backstage, Sami Zayn asks Matt Riddle to be careful against Solo Sikoa, as he was part of Riddle being put on the shelf four months ago and he does not want to be responsible for someone else getting hurt at the hands of The Bloodline. As Owens interrupts and tells Riddle to get his revenge against Solo, Riddle says he can only keep his side of the street clean and that he will get his revenge before seriously shoving Owens.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio). Damian Priest says that while Santos Escobar can go, he can't keep friends, and says that Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega) should stop getting involved in their business. As for Bad Buddy, he will address him in the ring.

The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio) head to the ring. Damian Priest tells Bad Bunny that if he wants to sit front row and have a great time, he can do that, but if he puts his hands on him or The Judgment Day again, he knows what will happen. Zelina Vega suddenly shows up, and as she distracts Rhea Ripley, the rest of Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro) attack Priest and Dominik from behind.

Damian Priest beats Santos Escobar following the interference and distractions by both Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, which leads to the rest of Legado del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega) - now known officially as the LWO - striking back against Rhea and Dominik. After the match, Damian Priest attacks Santos Escobar on the outside, then Rey Mysterio shows up from out of the crowd and lays out Priest before fighting Dominik in the ring. He goes for the 619, but Rhea makes the save.

Backstage, Paul Heyman tells Solo Sikoa that when someone embarrasses Solo, they embarrass they entire family. Solo stops Heyman with a hand on the shoulder, then tells Heyman to tell Roman Reigns that he has got this.

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez head to the ring for a championship celebration. After the commercial break, there is a red carpet in the ring, and pyrotechnics go off. Liv says they are proud to stand here as tag team champions, and Raquel proclaims they have brought the hardware home to SmackDown. Raquel thanks Liv for sacrificing her body so she can use her as her own personal weapon. Liv says she will always let Raquel throw her into other people, then says that amazing things happen when you least expect it. She says they are just beginning to get to know each other, then Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green show up. Sonya says that listening to Liv and Raquel made her dumber by the minute, then tells the fans to shut up and show respect before asking Liv and Raquel are tag team champions when Lita was "miraculously" beaten up and Trish Stratus took her place. Chelsea Green then says that WWE official Adam Pearce decided to overlook this, and says that the fact that they are being overlooked for "a mediocre tag team" which are only separated from the fans by the WWE women's tag team titles. After Chelsea asks them if they know who they are, Liv Morgan says they know who they are and that after a talk with Adam Pearce, they will be their next new challengers. Liv Morgan and Raquel then quickly overpower Sonya and Chelsea, who retreat.

The return of Shinsuke Nakamura is next!

Nebraska Cornhuskers head football coach Matt Ruhle is seen in the crowd.

Backstage, Emma tells Madcap Moss that the crowd should be cheering for him, as Shinsuke Nakamura does not have his accomplishments or his ability, and tells him to go out there and prove why he is top pick material in the WWE Draft.

Shinsuke Nakamura quickly beats Madcap Moss. After the match, Moss tries to attack Nakamura, but Nakamura puts Moss in an arm bar.

Backstage, Scarlett and Karrion Kross mark Shinsuke Nakamura as their next victim.

Backstage, Ricochet and Braun Strowman are attacked by The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik). Ricochet tries to fight back, but he is easily overpowered.

Before the next match, Paul Heyman announces that he has gotten off the phone with Roman Reigns, who has authorized him to announce that they have muscled their way through management and that in two weeks, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) will get their tag title rematch. Heyman guarantees that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will lose the tag team titles because Roman is losing patience with The Usos.

Solo Sikoa beats Matt Riddle after Riddle takes out The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) with a Floating Bro as they brawl with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens on the outside only to be kicked out of the air and hit with the Samoan Spike for the win. After the match, Solo smashes Riddle into the announce table with a Uranagi before burying Riddle underneath the table.
