Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for April 6, 2023

Heath and Rhino beat Shera and Champagne Singh in the BTI Match.

The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) beat TMDK ("Hysterical" Shane Haste and Bad Dude Tito) with a crucifix pin from Shelley on Haste into a jackknife pin from Sabin. After the match, The Motor City Machine Guns are mockingly congratulated by Ace Austin and Chris Bey. Sabin propose a rematch at Rebellion in the form of an Ultimate X Match, which interests Austin and Bey.

Backstage, Eddie Edwards meets with Kenny King to make sure he has his back. King says he has Eddie's back but he has something else in mind to get people talking about him after people failed to talk about him as he was "PCO's crash dummy," and tells him to get with whoever ran PCO over with the car if he needs help.

Backstage, Scott D'Amore finds out that "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander and his family have arrived, then Tommy Dreamer meets with D'Amore and tells him that he saw something in him when he took out Bully Ray. Dreamer then mentions that it would be nice to have someone like him in his corner. D'Amore declines, saying he has had his moment and that he already has enough on his plate.

Trey Miguel guests on commentary for the next match.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey vs. Jonathan Gresham ends with Trey Miguel attacking both men after both men nearly hit him at the commentary table.

Backstage, The Design (Deaner, Angels, Kon) meets with Callihan. Deaner tells Callihan that he told him that the road to join would be long and difficult and that he would have to make the right choice. He then says that he is surprised he has lasted this long and proven he can take his punishment like a man, but he cost them their match against Time Machine. Callihan says he has sacrifice and that he has done everything they have wanted, and tells them to either give up on him or believe in him before saying he is ready for Step 7. Deaner says that Step 7 is the deadliest step of all, and in this step, he must prove that he believes there is no authority above The Design and that he must be able to eliminate all other authority from his life. When asked how to prove this, Kon says "Figure it out." Callihan says "I will," and storms off.

Backstage, "Speedball" Mike Bailey and Jonathan resham meet with Director of Authority Santino Marella when Trey Miguel butts in and Dirty Dango shows up. Santino puts all three men in a Triple Threat Elimination Match for the X Division title at Rebellion, then leaves, and Dirty Dango says he can be of help in case of a "three-way." Trey leaves, then admits it was awkward before looking for Santino.

Jody Threat beats Tara Rising (also known as Taylor Rising) in her IMPACT debut. During the match, it is revealed that Director of Authority Santino Marella has been attacked backstage.

Backstage, Scott D'Amore meets with Director of Authority Santino Marella and Dirty Dango. Dirty Dango says that The Design (Deaner, Angels, Kon, Callihan) attacked Marella and wants a match with them with Joe Hendry in his corner. As D'Amore says that this is still a stacked deck, Marella says he has doubted himself ever since he racked up injuries, and that it is time to stand up for himself and remind everyone who he is. He says he will get his own revenge and decides to make it himself, Dango and Hendry vs. The Design.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Tasha Steelz, who says that last time she was in IMPACT, she said that something was not working, and she had to get herself back. Suddenly, "The Quintessential Diva" Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans and Jai Vidal show up, and Gisele asks Tasha if she has a problem. Tasha says she took care of Gisele at Sacrifice, but Gisele says she is still standing in front of her. Tasha says she ditched Savannah and that she has no problem dropping Gisele and that they can take care of business next week. Gisele says Tasha does not know if she has bitten more than she can chew for someone who talks about flavor, and Tasha says Gisele must not know who she is.

Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura and Darren McCarty beat Bully Ray and The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch) in a six-man tag match. After the match, an angry Bully Ray has a chair, then Kenny King shows up and attacks Tommy Dreamer. Frankie Kazarian shows up and fights Kenny, then Masha Slamovich runs in only for Killer Kelly to fight her. Kazarian, Kelly, Dreamer and Uemura soon stand tall in the ring.

We see a video package of "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander's record-setting IMPACT Wrestling World Championship reign.

It is announced that Jordynne Grace has won her first IFPB pro qualifier this past weekend.

We hear from "The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo, who says that she has went from winning multiple titles to having virtually nothing in the last eighteen months, then says that with nothing comes a blank canvas upon which she can create. She says that what she can create is limitless, and that she has proven that she is prepared after Multiverse United. As for her potential opponents, Jordynne Grace has never defeated her, but she has never defeated Mickie James. Deonna says that with her canvas, she will create an even better "Age of the Virtuosa" and become a three-time Knockouts Champion.

Eddie Edwards beats PCO. During the match, the referee goes down, then Alisha Edwards begs PCO not to do the PCO-Sault before hitting him in the head with a Kendo Stick. Eddie hits a powerbomb into the turnbuckle followed by a Boston Knee Party for the win. After the match, Eddie and Alisha get out as PCO gets up, and run to the back as PCO approaches them. Outside of the arena, PCO finds Alisha and Edwards getting a car, but they speed off.

Scott D'Amore, KUSHIDA and Steve Maclin are in the ring. D'Amore mentions "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander's long world championship reign and how sometimes injuries can end championship reigns, then announces that there will be a new champion crowned between KUSHIDA and Maclin at Rebellion. After mentioning that this match is official, he says that there is one more order of business: Alexander relinquishing the world championship. Josh Alexander then makes his way to the ring with his wife and son. D'Amore admits that out of all the things they he and Alexander been through together, this is one of the least enjoyable. Alexander thanks the fans, then says an opportunity should be everything a wrestler should need or want. He says he has seen people quit after never getting opportunities and he has seen people get plenty of them and squander them, and four years ago, D'Amore handed him an IMPACT Wrestling contract, and since then, he has never looked back. He says he has done everything in order to pay it back and has worked harder than the next man to become the longest-reigning world champion in IMPACT's history and stand above all of its greats. Alexander says that he had every intention of defending the world championship, but he has torn his tricep and he is out indefinitely, and he has go back to being an IMPACT fan. He says that a new champion will be crowned, then calls KUSHIDA one of the best submission specialists he has ever faced before telling Maclin that he has earned his title shot and that he wishes it was against him before telling him everyone will find out if he has watch it takes. Alexander then warns both men that if they hold it long enough for him to come back, he will be coming back for the title that he never lost. As Josh relinquishes the belt, his son takes it briefly, then Josh has to take it back to hand it to D'Amore. Maclin then says that enough is enough with the "soap opera bullshit" and demands D'Amore hand him the championship, as the championship has been his mission and that Alexander knows this to the point that he ducked him. He says that Alexander fears him and that this is his way out, then tells his son that his father is no hero before D'Amore chews Maclin out for questioning Alexander and challenging him to a fight in front of his family while fresh off of surgery. D'Amore then says that Maclin only wants to fight Alexander when he is vulnerable because he knows he would win, even saying that he tucked his tail and ran two weeks ago like a "coward son of a bitch" when Alexander called him out two weeks ago. He then tells Maclin that he will have to earn the IMPACT World Championship, then reminds him that KUSHIDA made him tap out. Maclin says he may have tapped out, but he is not is not going to put his pride in a match that means nothing to him. He says that it is all strategy and tactics and that he will be 100% at Rebellion because he is not like Alexander, and that he will become the next World Champion. Maclin then tells KUSHIDA that he is lucky to be here right now after being a speed bump for Alexander. KUSHIDA knocks the microphone out of Maclin's hand, and when Maclin grabs KUSHIDA, KUSHIDA puts him in the Hoverboard Luck and hits Maclin with a dive when he retreats before lifting up the IMPACT World Championship and handing it to D'Amore.
