Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for September 23, 2021

We hear from John Skyler, who says he worked thirteen years to get to Impact Wrestling and that Victory Road was supposed to be his moment. He then says that Laredo Kid took the moment from him, and from here, they have one win apiece. Skyler says he is the better man and that tonight on BTI, he will win and he will embarrass Laredo Kid.

Laredo Kid beats John Skyler with a roll-up, winning their rubber match. Matthew Rehwoldt is seen watching the match from backstage during the match and after its conclusion.

Scott D'Amore mentions "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander cashing in the Impact X Division Championship for Option C to become #1 contender for the Impact World Championship at Bound For Glory, then brings out Josh Alexander. Scott D'Amore asks Josh Alexander to relinquish the Impact X Division Championship for a world title shot. and realize the weight of what he is doing. and that there will be a tournament to crown a new X Division Champion. Josh Alexander relinquishes the X Division Championship He also announces that there will be a tournament to crown a new X Division Champion. Josh Alexander says that means a lot to him after having laid in a hospital bed with regrets six years ago wondering if he would ever wrestle again. Alexander then says he has done all he can with the X Division Championship and that he is ready to be the face of the company and become the World Champion. Suddenly, Christian Cage shows up. Christian says he has heard Josh talk in the back, and says that as much as he respects him and his story, Alexander almost lost his career while he lost his own for more than seven years and fought to get it back before becoming Impact World Champion. He says he will not lay down for anyone and that he will stay the champion, and tells Alexander that if he cashes in, he may walk out of this empty-handed, saying that he is face of the X Division right now and that he will be a face in the crowd, not the face of Impact. Alexander thanks Christian for making the decision easier and relinquishes the X Division Championship. Suddenly, "Inevitable" Ace Austin and Madman Fulton show up. Austin says he came close to beating Christian Cage and becoming the youngest World Champion in Impact Wrestling history. He says going away quietly is not his style, and that he is not done with Christian. He also says Josh Alexander is obsessed with him and could not leave him alone even when he went for the World Championship, then says he is disappointed with Alexander for "being a quitter." Austin tells Alexander to listen to Christian and be "a proud champion," saying he would never relinquish the title like that, but Alexander reminds Austin that he beat him for the X Division Championship. Austin and Fulton then attack Christian and Alexander, and come out on top in the ensuing brawl.

Gia Miller interviews Willie Mack and Rich Swann. Rich Swann says Impact Wrestling is always moving forward, and after seeing "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander exercise Option C, there is opportunity for everyone. Willie Mack says there is also opportunity for him, too, and he wants to put his name in the hat for the X Division title. Swann then announces that at Bound For Glory, he will take part in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match. Suddenly, Brian Myers and company show up. He says he will also be in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match, and says that the only difference is that he will become World Champion. Swann notes Myers' confidence, and challenges him and one of his students to a tag team match. Zicky Dice asks Myers to pick him, but Myers says he needs to think about this.

Backstage, Scott D'Amore and a doctor are checking on Christian Cage. Josh Alexander wants to face Ace Austin and Mandman Fulton in a tag team match, but Christian is not medically cleared to compete after what happened earlier, and Alexander gets a one-on-one match with "Inevitable" Ace Austin later tonight instead.

David Finlay beats Hikuleo. After the match, Hikuleo attacks David Finlay. Juice Robinson tries to save Finlay, but Chris Bey puts him in a sleeper and overpowers him. Bey and Hikuleo go for a double-team, but Hikuleo runs into Bey. As FinJuice go for a Doomsday Device on Bey, El Phantasmo shows up and attacks Finlay, and Chris Bey gets the upper hand on Juice Robinson. Phantasmo then superkicks Finlay with a loaded boot.

We hear from Violent By Design (Eric Young, Joe Doering, Deaner). Eric Young says Rhino was and is part of something special, and while what happened last week could look like an exodus, Rhino understands that violence is a path, the only destination, and the only thing the sickness understands. He knows that Rhino can repent and learn from his mistakes and become a war machine, and says that when he joins something like this, it is forever. He asks Rhino to think about his actions and do the right thing. Eric Young says he wants "a resounding answer from Rhino," and he wants it next week.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green. Cardona says he shut Rohit Raju up and took Shera out indefinitely. He says he is done, but Chelsea Green says she is back and out to get her retribution.

We hear from Su Yung and Kimber Lee. Kimber Lee says it is her honor to provide Su Yung with what she needs, and Brandi Lauren shows up and says it is an honor to provide Su Yung with souls. It is then revealed that the Swingerella kidnapped last week is dead and that Su Yung now has her soul.

Rohit Raju beats Chelsea Green. During the match, Matt Cardona stops Rohit Raju from using the ropes for leverage as Chelsea Green goes for a Sunset Flip only for Rohit Raju to sit down into a pinfall attempt to counter it. As Chelsea Green is about to get the win, Raj Singh - Rohit's partner in The Desi Hit Squad - suddenly runs down the ramp and attacks Cardona, distracting Chelsea so that Rohit can get the win.

Backstage, we hear from Eddie Edwards. He says that people do not learn and that W. Morrissey and Moose will pay, then Sami Callihan shows up and wants in on the action. Eddie is reluctant at first, but goes along with it.

Backstage, Eddie Edwards finds Moose and brawls with him. Sami Callihan soon joins in, and Sami and Eddie wants to know where W. Morrissey is. Moose says nothing, and Sami and Eddie soon look for Morrissey.

Before the next match, Brian Myers says the members of his learning tree are still green and not ready for a big tag team match, then says he has a partner and that he has "created this pro." He then brings out VSK.

Rich Swann and Willie Mack beat Brian Myers and VSK after Sam Beale pushes Swann off the top rope, inadvertently turning the shove into a top rope cross body into VSK for the win.

At Swinger's Palace, Johnny Swinger is worried that Bound For Glory in Las Vegas will put the casino under. Johnny Swinger has John E. Bravo write a letter to Scott D'Amore, asking him not to move the casino to Las Vegas, and invites him to Swinger's Palace next week.

Mickie James is seen heading to the ring.

We hear from The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson). Anderson says they are still on the vacation that he and Gallows deserve, and that they deserve it because they have beaten every single team put in front of them. Gallows says that just because they are on an island, that does not mean they can keep up on all the other tag teams via the Internet, and that they will have no problem taking down their opposition.

Mickie James heads to the ring. Mickie says it was a huge honor to come back at Slammiversary and that it is great to be back in "the land of Hardcore Country," but her intentions were less about herself and more about putting over the present and future of women's wrestling. She says it was great to get Deonna Purrazzo involved, but a lot of things have changed since then due to Purrazzo's unprofessional behavior, and that is was nice to give her a receipt. Mickie asks Purrazzo to come to the ring, and Deonna shows up and heads to the ring. Purrazzo takes offense to Mickie attacking her at NWA 73, and Mickie says that she can see through Purrazzo and that she is a fighter and not an executive producer anymore. Mickie then challenges Purrazzo to a match at Bound For Glory with the Impact Knockouts Championship on the line. Purrazzo says she owes Mickie nothing, and that wrestling her is "everybody's dream match" right now. Purrazzo says a match with Mickie does nothing for her, saying she never idolized her despite her accomplishments and that there is a long line of women far ahead of Mickie who made her want to be a wrestler, and that their match will not happen. She says that there is a hierarchy in Impact and that respect is earned, not given, and until she earns her title shot, the answer is no. Mickie stops Purrazzo from leaving, and this starts a brawl. Security moves quickly into place to break the brawl up, and Scott D'Amore shows up and says that wrestlers don't make matches, they don't turn them down, either. He also says that he and the fans disagree on Mickie James not being deserving a title shot, and that he would be an idiot to turn this match down. He makes the match official for Bound For Glory, then leaves while security keep another brawl from happening.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky for the TNA Knockouts Championship with ODB as special guest referee from the May 23, 2013 episode of Impact Wrestling.

Backstage, Sami Callihan and Eddie Edwards finds W. Morrissey, but Scott D'Amore and security stop the assault. Scott D'Amore makes an Anything Goes Street Fight between the team of Sami and Eddie and the team of Moose and Morrissey next week.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Gail Kim, who is in charge of Knockouts Knockdown on October 9th. She says there will be an eight-woman tournament where the winner will get a shot at the Knockouts Championship. The Influence (Tenille Dashwood, Madison Rayne, Kaleb with a K) shows up, and Madison Rayne proposes a match for the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championships. Gail Kim tells them they will have to earn their shot by beating Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering next week.

"The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander beats "Inevitable" Ace Austin. After the match, Madman Fulton attacks Josh Alexander, but Alexander fights back only for Ace Austin to stop him. Suddenly, Christian Cage shows up and evens the numbers game, and he and Alexander clear the ring. Alexander tells Christian he does not need his help, but this allows Austin and Fulton to get back in the ring and strike again. As Fulton and Austin go for a double-team choke slam/Fold combo, Christopher Daniels suddenly shows up. In his first Impact appearance in seven years, Daniels makes quick work of Fulton, and Austin has to help Fulton out of the ring.
