After Dark - AEW Dark recap for September 4, 2021

"Absolute" Ricky Starks guests on commentary for this show.

2point0 (Jeff Lee and Matt Parker) beat Rosario Grillo and Hunter Knott. After the match, 2point0 and Daniel Garcia attack Hunter Knott, then Garcia puts Knott in a rear naked choke as 2point0 stomps Grillo.

We hear from Vickie Guerrero and "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose. Vickie says Nyla Rose won the first-ever Casino Battle Royal, and tomorrow night, twenty "broken Barbies" will solidify history repeating itself. Nyla tells everyone not to be surprised, as it is the nature of the beast.

Wheeler Yuta beats Baron Black.

Julia Hart beats Heather Reckless.

We see footage of last night's contract signing between Satoshi Kojima and Jon Moxley for All Out. Tony Schiavone oversees the proceedings. Jon Moxley says he walks through any door he wants because he is the Forbidden Door and does what he wants when he wants, and says there is no bigger game than a former champion in Japan than Satoshi Kojima. He says the only difference here is that Kojima is hunting him, yet he is fine. He mentions Hiroshi Tanahashi briefly, then asks what kind of death wish Kojima has and what blaze of glory Kojima wants to ride. Moxley says he has respect for Kojima, but that respect goes out the window on Sunday and he will end him without thinking twice. Kojima simply says he will do his best and that he will "kick him ass." Moxley topples the table shortly after this and has a close-up confrontation and staredown that quickly leads to security moving into place as both men punch each other, with Moxley telling Kojima he is a dead man.

We hear from Julia Hart, who says she will be in the Casino Battle Royal before being attacked by Jade Cargill and "The Native Boy" Nyla Rose, who wrap a chair around Julia Hart's hurt knee before Cargill stomps the chair.

Hikaru Shida beats Missa Kate.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks guests on commentary for the next two matches.

Red Velvet beats Skye Blue.

Backstage, we hear from The Bunny and Penelope Ford. The Bunny says that at All Out, they are the only established tag team in the Casino Battle Royal. Ford says they are the only team anyone cares about, and The Bunny proclaims that she and Penelope have each others' backs, for if one wins, so does the other, and regardless of who they have to go through, one of them will win.

Tony Khan puts Skye Blue in the Casino Battle Royal.

The Pinnacle (Shawn Spears and Wardlow) beat Brandon Gore and JDX.

The Dark Order (John "4" Silver and Preston "10" Vance) beat Zachariah and Ren Jones with a full nelson from 10 to Ren Jones.

Penelope Ford beats Queen Aminata by submission.

We hear from "Smart" Mark Sterling and Jade Cargill. They are excited for the Casino Battle Royal, and Sterling says he would rather be thrown over the top rope than face a woman like Jade Cargill in the ring. Sterling then says that there are some women who think they will get lucky and win the match, and tells them that the house always wins because it belongs to "that bitch."

Frankie Kazarian beats Dean Alexander with the crossface chicken wing.

Jade Cargill beats Blair Onyx.

We hear from Thunder Rosa, who says that she has wrestled all over the world for multiple championships and that what Jade Cargill and "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose did to her will not stop her from winning the Casino Battle Royal. She also says that Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. will not be able to touch her again when she becomes #1 contender to the AEW Women's World Championship.

Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) beats Chaos Project (Luther and Serpentico). After the match, CM Punk shows up and thanks the fans for being into the show before stating that he has been tasked with sending the fans home happy and that all he wants to do is thank everybody because he is "super-grateful humble Punk" right now. He thanks Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Marko Stunt, the camera crew and the fans before leading the crowd into a sing-along of "Thank You For Being A Friend." He then addresses his comments from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, saying that he and AEW want the criticism, as criticism is feedback, and that the "shut the fuck up" part is for people who hate-watch the show with nothing to add to the conversation. Punk says that he wants AEW to be a nonstop party that the "boo birds" see from the outside, and even though there will be some fights and disagreements along the way, the fans are the bosses.
