Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for September 24, 2021

Becky Lynch heads to the ring to start tonight's show. After a video package replaying what happened last week at Bianca Belair's homecoming, Becky says she has made something of herself in the last year much like how Belair has made something of herself the entire life, yet nobody threw her a party. Becky then says that is okay and that she went to Bianca's homecoming to shake her hand, but Bianca wanted to assert her dominance. She says greatness is made in the mind, not in the body, and said she had no other choice but to embarrass Bianca. Becky says she is "the better man" and that she wanted to give Bianca time to recalibrate after her title shot, but Bianca had to goad her. Suddenly, Bianca Belair shows up. Bianca tells Becky to keep her family out of her mouth, then admits that Becky embarrassed her at SummerSlam and last week before saying it will not happen again next week. Becky says Bianca was not ready for her and that "the EST" is just a catchphrase. Bianca tells Becky that she proved she was "the EST" by lifting her up like it was nothing and accomplishing what Becky did in a quarter of the time while winning an ESPY Award. Becky says Bianca is only succeeding because she showed the world how to be great first, but Bianca says their Extreme Rules match will not end in 26 seconds before proclaiming she will become SmackDown Women's Champion once again. Bianca then offers to shake Becky's hand, but Becky slaps her in the face. Bianca responds by fighting back and reversing the Manhandle Slam with a K.O.D.

He then says that this is okay, for the sound of Edge's silence is defeaning and reveals the truth that Edge is hurt badly and cannot admit that he is the reason that he cannot compete in a WWE ring ever again. He says that while he likes this, that is not good enough, and he is not waiting for an answer anymore. He says that Edge will show up next week, look him in the eye and tell the world that he is not "Edge Light" and superior to him in every way. He also says that Edge will admit that he ended his career. Rollins says that he will not be made a liar of and that he will find Edge where he sleeps and beat the words out of him in front of his family. In a WWE Digitial Exclusive from earlier today, Happy Corbin goes shopping for custom suits as he announces the premiere of his new segment called "Happy Talk."

It's time for Happy Talk. Happy Corbin says his show will not be like "The Kevin Owens Show" where people are broken down and made sad, and that his show is about happiness and joy and putting smiles on people's faces. Corbin brings out his first guest, who he says embodies happiness: himself. Corbin calls himself the happiest person in the world following a wonderful dinner from a chef who knew him from last night and from being rich, in a custom suit and coming to the show in a private jet. Corbin then says that Kevin Owens is one of the toughest people on the WWE roster, yet he beat him with ease, and that it brings him joy to be that powerful. Suddenly, Owens shows up. As Owens approaches the ring, a man in all black attacks Owens, but Owens fights back. The man in black is none other than Riddick Moss, and he and Happy Corbin gang up on Owens and slam him on some ring steps.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Montez Ford, who says that he does not regret calling The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) "bloodline bitches" and that the truth will set one free. He says he is tired of people walking on eggshells around Roman Reigns and that he cannot wait to beat Roman.

Backstage, Dominik Mysterio talks with Rey Mysterio, saying that Rey is suffocating him and not letting him fly on his own. Rey says that Dominik is not thinking straight and giving him space. After Rey leaves, Sami Zayn shows up and tells Dominik that there is no shame in losing to him and that he is getting better in the ring, then says that while Rey means well, he should listen to Rey less and his instincts more.

Naomi heads to the ring. Naomi says she is here to compete, but WWE official Sonya Deville refuses to put her in a match. After saying she has been fined, disrespected and ignored, she demands a match right now. Deville shows up and says she makes the matches, not her. Naomi tells her to make the match, and after Sonya says she could smack the glow out of her but cannot due to being her boss and no longer a competitor. Naomi starts a "Make the match" chant, but Sonya cuts her mic and sends out security. Sonya Deville tells Naomi to "Tiktok dance her way into obscurity" while she builds the future as security escorts her to the back.

As The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) head to the ring with Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns, they have a staredown with Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis).

Backstage, Becky Lynch says Bianca Belair had every opportunity to back out but kept pushing her. She says that Bianca Belair is "the dumb-EST" and that while life has changed, the ring has not, and she will not only beat Bianca, she will break her.

Roman Reigns beats Montez Ford with a guillotine choke. After the match, Paul Heyman says the guillotine choke was not enough for Montez Ford's sins, and says that Roman Reigns will show what it is like when he gets extreme. The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) then show up, and Roman Reigns hits Montez Ford with a chair before The Usos setup a table on the outside. Roman tosses Montez out of the ring, then puts him through the table. The lights go out, then Finn Balor is seen on the ring post as red lights turn on. He dives onto Roman and The Usos, then attacks them all with a Kendo stick from underneath the ring. Roman tries to beat up Finn with a chair in the ring, but Finn Balor hits him with a chair and hits Roman and The Usos with a chair before hitting Roman with a tope con hiro to end the show.
