Grand Slam - Dynamite recap for September 22, 2021

Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega ends in a 30-minute time minute draw. After the match's end, The Elite have to get Omega away from Danielson as Danielson goes for a post-match LeBell Lock, and the match is declared a draw. The Young Bucks then superkick Daniel Bryan in the corner. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian run into the ring and send The Elite into a retreat.

CM Punk heads to the ring. Punk says it has been a long time he has wrestled on TV and even longer since wrestling has been in New York City, and says that people want him to get pissed and become the old CM Punk, to which he says "Be careful what you wish for." He says that half of Team Taz (Taz, "Absolute" Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Hook) is from New York and yet the fans in the city do not even like them, and recounts Team Taz's attempt to put him through a table, saying that while it pissed him off, his music makes that feeling go away. He says that his entrance theme makes everything "a lovefest" and proud to see the fans, then says that Team Taz wanted to take all of this away from him, and that is has been so long since he had all of this that he needs this. He says that nobody will take anything pro wrestling-wise away from him and that it is his again, and then tells Team Taz that they should have finished the job instead of making the mistake of letting him live. He says it is his job to tuck people in instead of waking them up, and that Powerhouse Hobbs is going to sleep on Rampage. Punk hugs Stephen Amell in the front row on his way out.

MJF beats Brian Pillman Jr. with The Salt of the Earth after using Julia Hart as a human shield.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Jake Hager and Chris Jericho. Hager says The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky and "All Ego" Ethan Page) are "The Boys of the Week" who are about to get slapped around, and Jericho says The Men of the Year made a mistake taking them on. He warns Dan Lambert that he will bite his nose off like Haku in Japan and spit it into the fifth row and that they are ready to take on some big, meaty MMA boys this Friday on Rampage.

Malakai Black beats "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes after knocking Cody into Arn Anderson - knocking Anderson off the ring apron - and spitting black mist into Cody's eyes after knocking the referee away.

We see a video package for Sammy Guevara vs. Miro for the TNT Championship next week on Dynamite.
