Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for December 20, 2019

Daniel Bryan shows up to start tonight's show. Daniel says he doesn't know what happened to him, and that he felt "The Fiend" viscerally rip out his beard and hair, and all he noticed is that the brand he created was gone, and when his daughter saw him without the long hair and beard, she cried. He says that while his daughter did not recognize him, he recognized himself, as he saw the man who had never been given opportunity, which became the man who kicked Bray Wyatt's ass. Daniel says that Bray Wyatt may have succeeded at changing him, but he will change Bray Wyatt, too, and calls out Bray saying that he will make him feel pain that he is unable to feel. Instead of Bray, Daniel gets The Miz. The Miz tells Daniel Bryan that what happened to him may have been awful, but Bray Wyatt attacked his family and that TLC was about protecting his family, which is something that Bray will never have. Miz says that Bray has nothing but puppets in his fantasy world, and that he will take away the one thing he treasures most: the Universal title. Suddenly, King Corbin shows up. Corbin mocks what The Miz was put through by Bray Wyatt, and says that if The Miz's daughter had a few more of his wife's genes, it would not have been as scary. He also makes fun of Daniel Bryan's daughter not recognizing Daniel, and says that Daniel's brand is failure. Corbin boasts about his win at TLC last Sunday, and "Here is your winner...King Corbin" is played over and over again before Corbin says that the next Universal Championship shot belongs to him, not Miz or Daniel. He also states that Miz and Daniel have failed as both Superstars and fathers. Miz and Daniel look at each other, toss away their microphone, then advance towards Corbin only to be superkicked from behind by Dolph Ziggler. Corbin then hits Daniel Bryan with End of Days.

The Miz and Daniel Bryan vs. King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler is official for later tonight.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis). Tucker says that he and Otis' spirits are not crushed after last week, and that Otis is a big man with a big heart. Otis says he likes giving out gifts, especially ham. Tucker says that they will win tonight, then Mandy Rose shows up. Mandy Rose says she saw what happened last week, then gives him a Christmas ham and a kiss before Heavy Machinery head to the ring.

Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) beat The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight.

Backstage, Otis is met by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Sonya leaves for her match, then Otis apologizes about the ham being thrown down on the floor during the last match. Mandy says it is all right and hugs him, then gets sweat all over her dress.

In the ring, The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) feel that their careers have turned into a joke at their experience and have started to become their legacy, and as Dawson says that old-school tag team wrestling is gone, Elias shows up. Elias says he knows that The Revival are frustrated and have put that frustration into song, in which he then proceeds to mock them and says that they will have to make a big change.

In the locker room, Sami Zayn meets with Braun Strowman and asks what he should get for him concerning the Secret Santa program. Strowman calls Sami out for verbally burying the holidays, then Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura show up. Strowman says that if Sami wants to give him something he wants, then he can give him an opportunity against Nakamura at the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Sami says Nakamura and Cesaro already have a match tonight, but he will keep it in mind.

Carmella beats Sonya Deville with the Code of Silence.

We hear from Sheamus, who says that all things that change and that change is good for the soul, but that change was not good for SmackDown because the soul left with him and SmackDown became soft, weak and small as a result. He then says that change will happen once again, because he is back to battle for the soul of SmackDown.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) beat Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura after Kofi pins Cesaro with an inside cradle. After the match, Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Nakamura attack The New Day, then Braun Strowman shows up and takes Cesaro and Nakamura out. Sami Zayn has to rescue Nakamura from Strowman so that they can retreat.

In the locker room, The Miz thanks Daniel Bryan from saving him from Bray Wyatt's mallet. Daniel says he only did it for him and that he is sorry about what Bray did to him. After they argue over how much they hate each other, Miz says they have to work together. After that, the Universal title will be his.

Bayley beats Dana Brooke. After the match, Bayley and Sasha Brown verbally put Dana Brooke down, and Lacey Evans shows up and runs them out of the ring. Lacey Evans calls out Sasha, saying she is more of a "legit bully with a big mouth and no backbone" than a "legit boss," then challenges her to a match right now so she can make her a "legit loser."

CC Sabathia is seen in the front row.

Lacey Evans vs. Sasha Banks ends in a double count-out after Sasha beats Lacey up in front of her own daughter. After the match, Dana Brooke has to hold Lacey back along with several referees.

The Miz and Daniel Bryan beat King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler with a Figure Four Leg Lock to Ziggler. After the match, it is announced that Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin will have a Triple Threat Match to determine a new #1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship next week. All of a sudden, the lights go out and Bray Wyatt's laughter is heard.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
