Raw Deal - Raw recap for December 9, 2019

Jerry "The King" Lawler is in the ring to preside over the official divorce signing of Rusev and Lana to start tonight's show. Lana shows up first with her lawyer, who provides Lawler with the papers. It is announced that the distance provision of the restraining order has been waived, and that all other provisions of the order are still in effect. Rusev then shows up. Lana tells Rusev she used to love him over everyone even when the fans hated him, and says that Rusev turned out to be another statistic when he became rich, famous and successful and "Rusev Day" got to his head. She then blames the fans for their marriage failing. Rusev tells Lana to calm down, but Lana tells Rusev not to come any closer to her. Rusev says he is the one who needs protection these days, then shows a video of Lana and Lashley attacking the detectives from last week. Lana calls Rusev "the most selfish monster" and says she is the most ravishing woman in the world and that nobody will ever compare to her, and that Rusev will never find anyone like her again. Rusev is unperturbed. Lana continues to blame the fans and Rusev for their failing marriage, then Rusev happily announces it's time to sign the divorce papers. Rusev proposes signing first, but Lana wants first dibs on signing the contract because she always comes in first. Both of them argue over who gets the dog, then Lana signs the divorce contract. Rusev teases signing the contract, then asks something from Lana before he signs. Lana thinks it is sex, but Rusev wants a match with Bobby Lashley. Lashley shows up and says that this entire proceeding is ridiculous and that Rusev is making everything into a big joke. He then says that he will ask Lana to marry him after the divorce, then Rusev tells Lashley to go ahead and do it because Lana is "bad." Rusev signs the contract after stating that he will have his match with him, but Lashley slams Rusev's head into the table and proceeds to beat him up on the outside. Rusev fights back with a Machka Kick followed by a belly-to-belly suplex through the table, then leaves the ring.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Kevin Owens. Owens says AOP (Akam and Rezar) attacked him because Seth Rollins told them to, and guesses that it was because he was the only one to tell him he was full of crap to his face. He says he was lucky to get away, and that this will be a problem from AOP. Owens then proceeds to look for AOP. Owens then walks around backstage and meets with Rey Mysterio, who offers to watch his back. Owens respectfully declines, but Rey tells him it is his metal pipe, not him, that will help him. Owens takes the metal pipe.

Before the next match, Drew McIntyre says that the start of tonight's show has been too depressing, and decides to raise spirits by mockingly announcing the birth of Matt's third child and saying he has not made the best decisions out of the ring. McIntyre then gives Matt Hardy - and his family - an opportunity to walk away and live to fight another day so he can hold his child and not be broken. Matt then attacks Drew and hits him with a Twist of Fate.

Drew McIntyre beats Matt Hardy.

In footage from earlier tonight, Charlotte Flair meets with Becky Lynch in the locker room. Charlotte tells Becky she doesn't like her, but she doesn't like The Kabuki Warriors more. She asks Becky if she wants to be "Becky Two Belts" again. Becky says she would much rather take them on herself just to collect an old debt.

Backstage, Kevin Owens asks for AOP's (Akam and Rezar) whereabouts. Mojo Rawley decides to mess with Owens on that front by changing his mind on where AOP went, and for that, he gets slapped.

The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) show up. Erik says that for weeks, they have been searching for worthy opponents, and Ivar says all they have encountered are victims. Erik then issues an open challenge to any team who thinks they can take the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships from them. The open challenge is answered by Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford).

It is announced that Batista has will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020.

The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships against Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford). Both teams show respect to each other after the match, then Seth Rollins shows up. Rollins says he has something to take care of, and tells both teams that they are more than welcome to stay in the ring as he does it. Street Profits leave first, followed by The Viking Raiders. Rollins then says he has unfinished business with AOP (Akam and Rezar), and regardless of whether it is with a broken hand or in a 2-on-1 match, he wants them right now. Instead of AOP, however, Kevin Owens shows up instead. Rollins tells Owens this is between him and AOP, but Owens tells Rollins that the pipe is for AOP, and asks when AOP will show up so they can all beat him up. As Rollins says he has nothing to do with AOP, AOP shows up to the arena in a black van. After the commercial break, Rollins tries to reason with Owens, but Owens is ready to fight them as well as him. Rollins says nothing he says will get through to Owens, and he decides to leave. Owens tells Rollins he will find him after he is done with AOP. Owens then proceeds to call AOP out, but AOP show up on the TitanTron and say something, then Owens stays in the ring ready to fight them. Instead of getting AOP, however, he gets Sami Zayn and Mojo Rawley. Sami says he is on Raw because he has signed up for a manager's license, and that Owens knows him better than anyone else. Sami then says he is a liberator who sets people free, and says that Owens is a prisoner in his own head. He says he is not judging Owens for that, but says that what he did to Mojo Rawley backstage was way out of line and humiliating. Sami then says he cannot help Owens if he cannot admit he was wrong, and asks Owens to do the right thing and apologize to Mojo. Mojo tells Owens it was bad enough he disrespected him, but he will not disrespect Sami, either. Sami tells Mojo not to take an aggressive tone with Owens, but Mojo says everyone is tough with a steel pipe in their hands. Owens then proposes they test out that theory, then tosses the pipe to Mojo before hitting him with a Stunner. Sami leaves the ring before Owens hits Mojo with a pipe.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio says he has the honor of defending the United States title against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. He says that the title is symbolic of a journey that began when he lost his confidence and his son reminded him what the Mysterio name is about. He tells Styles that he will shake his hand in victory if he beats him for the title, but he will show everyone he is worthy of the Mysterio name and retain the title before that happens.

Backstage, Kevin Owens finally gets AOP's (Akam and Rezar) whereabouts.

When he tries to get in the van upon seeing somebody sitting in the back, he is suddenly grabbed from behind and attacked by AOP. It is then revealed that Seth Rollins has been sitting in the van the entire time, and he steps out of the van to hit The Stomp on Owens. Rollins then leaves with AOP.

Seth Rollins shows up. Rollins asks the fans what they want from him, as he has been asking himself that for a long time, and says that he and the fans saw eye-to-eye until they suddenly didn't, and now he wants to know what is wrong. He goes on to say that he has done everything right and has put it all on the line for the fans every single night in the ring and in the media only to be spit on and disrespected. He says that he has nothing to do with AOP (Akam and Rezar), but the truth is not good enough for the fans, who jumped on the Kevin Owens bandwagon when Owens called him a liar. He says that he let it slide, but it is not good enough for the fans, and he asks again what he has to do. Rollins says that if the fans want to push him, then it is time to push back, as their negativity has become a self-fulfilling prophecy that has turned their fiction into fact and turned him to stand with AOP. AOP then shows up, then leave with Rollins. Backstage, Kevin Owens is placed on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

Becky Lynch beats The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) in a 2-on-1 handicap match by disqualification after Asuka hits Becky with a chair. After the match, The Kabuki Warriors set up a table, and Kairi puts Becky through the table with an In-Sain Elbow.

We hear from The O.C. ("The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson). Styles brags about them being the best tag team in the world, and that sooner rather than later, they will take the Raw tag team titles away from The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) and celebrate with a new United States Champion. Styles then warns Randy Orton that if he gets involved, The O.C. just may end his career.

Rey Mysterio retains the WWE United States Championship against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson show up to get a closer look during the match, and near the end, Gallows takes the 619 for Styles and Rey fends Anderson off. After Styles hits the Styles Clash on Rey, Randy Orton shows up out of nowhere and distracts Styles before rolling out of the ring, allowing Rey enough time to win the match with an inside cradle and retain the title.
