Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for June 4, 2019

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods show up to start tonight's show. Kofi says that if there is one thing he has learned in the last three months, it is that life is crazy and full of surprises. He thought he had seen it all and done it all in the last eleven years, but there are highs and lows and he takes pride in fighting through the lows. By fighting through those lows, he eventually became a WWE Champion. He then says that as amazing as winning the WWE Championship, the main thing is that he has inspired other people to reach their goals and do the impossible. We then see a video package of Kofi Kingston in Ghana. Kofi says that he was able to go back to his home country of Ghana after 26 years, and that the look in the eyes of young children who were in the same position he was in life and the ability to tell them they can do what they want to do is an amazing feeling. As Kofi talks about meeting family members he has not met in a long time as well as for the first time, Dolph Ziggler shows up and says he respects him too much for the sacrifices and the journey, then says it is about him. We see a video package of Dolph Ziggler's time in WWE and some of his greatest moments, then Ziggler says he gave everything including his soul to the fans only for Kofi to have the WrestleMania moment and the WWE Championship when it should have been him. He calls Kofi a hero, then says that everyone will one day realize that he is the hero of this story and that it should have been him. Kofi says nobody has ever said he has had a great career, for he knows what it is like to be passed over and that Ziggler beat him for an Intercontinental Championship and a United States Championship. Kofi then tells Ziggler he forgot one thing. We then see footage from the December 19, 2017 episode of SmackDown where Ziggler talked about how he has went unappreciated before vacating the WWE United States Championship. As the crowd chants "You walked out," Kofi says it could have been Ziggler, but Ziggler quit and walked out when things did not go his way, and he took himself out of the game. Kofi says that he never quit when things were at their worst, and that this is the difference between him and Ziggler. Kofi says that he never quit when things were at their worst, and that this is the difference between him and Ziggler. He then says that at Super Showdown, it will never be Ziggler. As the fans chant "quitter" at Ziggler, we then see a video package of Ziggler's attack on Kofi Kingston from two weeks ago before Ziggler says it will be him on Friday. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn show up for the next match and speak to Ziggler briefly before heading to the ring for the next match.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) beat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. After the match, Dolph Ziggler shows up again and superkicks both Kofi and Woods.

We hear from Shane McMahon, who says that his post-match attack on Roman Reigns on Raw was to prove he can hang with Roman, for whatever Roman can do, he can do better, for he is the best in the world. Shane says he will call out Roman later tonight, and he will see if he gets "The Big Dog" or a little dog with its tail between its legs.

It's time for A Moment Of Bliss. Alexa Bliss says it is an honor to be one of tonight's wild cards, then brings out tonight's special guest: Bayley. Alexa Bliss tastes her coffee only to find it is unsatisfactory, and as she waits for her coffee to come back, Bayley wants to answer some questions. Alexa says that Bayley had one good night, but Bayley says it took years to get to that one good night. This leads to Alexa talking about herself as she says that she agrees with Bayley, and says the SmackDown Women's title meant something when she held it. When she asks Bayley if the title means anything around her waist, Bayley says a lot has changed since they last saw each other and that she looks forward to the future. Alexa then tells Bayley to hold up as her coffee comes back. When Alexa gets her coffee back, Bayley slaps it out of her hand and the two of them argue. Carmella then shows up and says you can't have a title conversation without her and that Alexa can't just show up from Raw and challenge Bayley for the title. As Alexa Bliss takes that as a challenge towards her, Charlotte Flair shows up and says that Shane McMahon has announced that there will be a match tonight to dictate who will face Bayley for the SmackDown Women's title at Stomping Grounds. The match will be Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte Flair.

Backstage, Carmella catches up with R-Truth, who says that he has been waiting to get back in touch with Shane McMahon. Shane gets back in touch, but when R-Truth talks to him, he has to apologize to him for interrupting his celebration. He then finds out he has a standard match for the WWE 24/7 Championship right now, then runs to the ring. He hands the phone to Carmella, who then finds out that this match has some stipulations.

Elias beats R-Truth in a lumberjack match to win the WWE 24/7 Championship for a second time. After the match, Elias manages to get away from everyone as they beat each other up, but he runs right into R-Truth as he crawls away. Both men crawl underneath the ring with a referee close behind. The bell rings again, and R-Truth wins the 24/7 Championship for a fourth time. R-Truth then flees through the crowd again.

We hear from Aleister Black, who says he offered what was tantamount to an open challenge, but either cowardice or intelligence has kept people from knocking on his door when he is not hard to find. He then says that as he speaks, he begins to understand, for his track record speaks for itself, and when he inflicts pain, it "isn't exactly your daddy's WWE." Until somebody does show up, he will be waiting impatiently until anybody decides to be a man and fights him.

Shane McMahon shows up with The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder). After Shane gets a "proper introduction" out of ring announcer Greg Hamilton, the crowd chants "CM Punk" as Shane states that last week was a great time and that The Revival were amazing. While he respects The Revival being in the ring with him for support, he asks for the footage of last night's post-match attack on Roman Reigns to be replayed again. Shane says that will be nothing compared to what he does to Roman at Super Showdown, and compares what he did last night to training a high-spirited male dog before saying he will neuter Roman until he lays at his heels. Suddenly, Roman shows up, and The Revival charge at him. Dawson receives a Superman Punch, and Wilder receives the same fate after being sent into the LED boards of the Minitron. Roman then makes his way to the ring, but he is attacked from out of nowhere with a Claymore Kick from Drew McIntyre. McIntyre gets Roman in the corner at Shane's command, and Shane hits Roman with another Spear before mocking him.

Alexa Bliss beats Carmella and Charlotte Flair to face Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at Stomping Grounds. During the match, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville show up to get a closer look at the match, and their yanking on Carmella's feet distracts Carmella and allows Alexa to get the win.

Kayla Braxton interviews Lars Sullivan in the ring. When asked what drives him to do what he does, Sullivan asks Braxton if she would ask a nightingale why it sings or a lion why it stalks its prey before ripping it apart. He then asks why Braxton would ask what drives a man like him, and says he has come to realize that he is no man, for he has been described his entire life as a freak - a word that Sullivan asks Braxton to say. Sullivan says that when a lion performs a primary function, it is called a lion, but when he does it, he is called a freak, for his primary function is to obliterate people and show everyone that the world is full of pain, agony and a real-life freak of nature like him. When asked if this is what he will do to The Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik) at Super Showdown, Sullivan asks Braxton if she likes nursery rhymes before comparing The Lucha House Party to three blind mice in the most painful way possible.

Andrade vs. Apollo Crews ends before it can begin when Andrade attacks Crews and hits him with a Hammerlock DDT. Finn Balor runs in and fights Andrade, but Andrade also hits him with a Hammerlock DDT after Zelina Vega runs interference.

Goldberg shows up. Goldberg says he has been waiting over 20 years to experience what it would be like to face The Undertaker, and now, he finally gets that match he has always wanted. He heard what 'Taker had to say, especially the bit about how he would rather face "Goldberg, the icon" instead of "Goldberg, the family man," and says it tripped a light switch in his head, as 'Taker is right. He says that he left the "family man" him at home. He guarantees The Undertaker that he will get the Goldberg he has wanted for 20 years and will get to see how he stacks up against him, and that The Undertaker will get the ass-kicking he asked for when they find out who the better man is, for 'Taker is next to rest in peace. The lights go out, and when they glow blue, Goldberg finds out The Undertaker is behind him. Both men have an intense staredown, and when the lights go out, The Undertaker disappears when the lights come back on. Goldberg tells The Undertaker to bring his jock strap and tie it up tonight, for Friday night will be a ride.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
