Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for June 25, 2019

We hear from Shane McMahon, who says that The Undertaker only showed up because Roman Reigns called him up, and says that if Roman wants 'Taker to fight his battles, he and Drew McIntyre will make them dead men. Shane says he's not going anywhere and that he has a job to do, and warns the SmackDown Live roster not to get on his bad side, because he is pissed.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) shows up to start tonight's show. After it is announced that Samoa Joe vs. Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship is official for Extreme Rules, Kofi says he has achieved some of the greatest moments of his career and life since becoming WWE Champion. Kofi then says he has also experience some of the most painful, excruciating and devastating moments in his career as well, such as his steel cage match with Dolph Ziggler at Stomping Grounds and Samoa Joe's attack on him last night. Kofi says Samoa Joe's Coaquina Clutch is like a shark's jaws squeezing on you until you fade to black, but he will not let Joe eat him alive. Suddenly, Dolph Ziggler shows up. Ziggler says he refuses to let this happen again, and says he did all the heavy lifting only to let another Superstar take his spot. He tells Kofi he knows that Xavier Woods saved him at Super ShowDown and took the coward's way out at Stomping Grounds. Ziggler states that he should be WWE Champion, and states that if he beats Kofi Kingston later tonight, he will be in the WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules and he will get what he truly deserves. He also announces that the match will be two-out-of-three falls, and that Kofi won't be able to take the coward's way out again.

Backstage, The Miz meets up with Elias, who states that Shane McMahon is fired up after last night and that he should not barge into his locker room until he wants to be a dead man walking. When Elias refuses to get out of the way and continues to play his guitar, Miz stops him and tells Shane that they have unfinished business after Extreme Rules and that he and the fans are sick of it. Shane walks out, and Elias tells him what just happened. Shane tells Elias that Miz has his match tonight if he can beat Elias in a two-out-of-three falls match.

The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) beat "The New" Daniel Bryan and Rowan. After the match, Big E and Woods are attacked from behind by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, and Rowan joins in. Suddenly, Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) run in and overpower Owens and Sami. It takes them and The New Day to send Rowan out of the ring.

The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) and Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) beat "The New" Daniel Bryan, Rowan, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

We see WWE.com-exclusive footage from last night where Nikki Cross tells Alexa Bliss that she has a match with Bayley and that if she beats her, Alexa Bliss gets a championship match against Bayley at Extreme Rules. Alexa does not seem very confident in Nikki Cross' ability to get the job done.

Before the next match, Elias says that he will sweep The Miz faster than the Golden State Warriors swept the Portland Trailblazers.

Elias beats The Miz two falls to one (2-1) in a two-out-of-three falls match. (Had The Miz won, he would have gotten a match with Shane McMahon after Extreme Rules.) Elias earns the first fall after Shane McMahon grabs at The Miz's ankle, allowing Elias to hit a high knee followed by Drift Away. The Miz is awarded the second fall by disqualification after Shane McMahon attacks him, and Elias and Shane continue to attack him afterwards. This allows Elias to win the third fall following a top rope elbow drop. After the match, Elias and Shane head back to the ring and set Miz up for a Coast To Coast from Shane. Shane yells at Miz to not come at him ever again.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Finn Balor, who says that he has all the respect in the world for Andrade for pushing him to his limit, and that the better the opposition, the better he has to be to overcome. When asked who is next to challenge, Finn Balor is met by Shinsuke Nakamura, who looks at the Intercontinental Championship and leaves.

Nikki Cross beats Bayley with a crucifix pin to earn Alexa Bliss a match against Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at Extreme Rules.

Backstage, Carmella is looking for R-Truth when she runs into Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. R-Truth comes out of hiding, and Drake Maverick shows up, saying he has nothing, much less a referee. Maverick tells R-Truth that he not only ruined his marriage, but also his life. R-Truth apologizes, saying he thought it was Carmella's wedding and tells him to get a referee if it means that much to him. R-Truth teases considering this, then says he loves the title more than Maverick loves his wife and runs off with everyone chasing after him afterwards.

Sonya Deville beats Ember Moon after shoving Ember Moon into the ring post following the distraction by Mandy Rose.

We hear from Aleister Black, who is impatiently waiting for somebody to fight him. He says he cannot be the only condemned person who walks these halls, and he thinks not one person is man enough to pick a fight with him. As the light goes out, somebody knocks on the door. Aleister then smiles at the camera.

Kofi Kingston beats Dolph Ziggler two falls to one (2-1) in a two-out-of-three falls match. Kofi earns the first fall by countering a pinfall attempt with one of his own after Ziggler is caught grabbing the middle rope by the referee. Ziggler earns the second fall soon after Kofi earns the first with a superkick. Kofi earns the third fall following Trouble In Paradise.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
