Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for July 18, 2018

The debuting Dezmond X - known in Impact Wrestling as Dezmond Xavier - beats Paul London (who is now clad in black) to win one of the seven Aztec medallions.

Antonio Cueto shows up. Nearby is the Gift Of The Gods Championship. He congratulates Dezmond X on becoming the final competitor in next week's Gift Of The Gods Match. He says that he has been a fight promoter for over 40 years, and he cannot remember a match with so many main event caliber stars in the ring. After saying that next week will be epic, he asks the fighters to place their medallions in the Gift Of The Gods title and declare their spot in Lucha Underground spot. El Dragon Azteca Jr., King Cuerno, Ivelisse, Dezmond X, Son of Havoc, The Mack and Mil Muertes all place their medallions into the Gift Of The Gods Championship, then Antonio decides to have some fun. He says that while seven is a lucky number, he considers it to be unlucky and that only six of the competitors will be competing for the Gift Of The Gods Championship. Antonio Cueto then announces an impromptu over-the-top battle royal, with the last person standing earning the ability to choose who is out of the Gift Of The Gods Match.

The Mack beats El Dragon Azteca Jr., King Cuerno, Ivelisse, Dezmond X, Son of Havoc, and Mil Muertes to win an impromptu over-the-top battle royal after Son of Havoc eliminates himself to take out everyone else. After the match, The Mack says taht while he fears no man, Mil Muertes "scares the shit out of [him]" and removes him from the match. To the surprise of nobody, Mil Muertes takes his anger out on everyone else outside of the ring.

Vibora beats Johnny Mundo. During the match, Mundo superkicks referee Justin Borden after a near-fall following a chair shot by "The Darewolf" PJ Black while Taya distracts Borden. Afterwards, Black and Taya wrap a steel chair around Vibora's neck while Mundo readies another one. Drago shows up and hits Mundo with a top rope missile drop kick, then Daga shows up and scares off Taya and PJ Black with a steel chair of his own. Referee Marty Elias takes over officiating duties shortly afterwards. Vibora wins it after choke slamming Johnny Mundo off the top rope onto the center of the mat. After the match, PJ Black and Taya return with steel chairs and attack Kobra Moon and Vibora, but Drago and Daga show up again and strike back, laying out Ricky Mundo (who shows up later in the match to make a save for Johnny Mundo) and starting an all-out brawl.

We see a vignette for XO Lishus that is not unlike a scene from Flashdance. Meanwhile, Jack Evans is watching him from nearby, and Ricky Mundo strikes up a conversation with him by asking what he is doing. Jack tells Ricky and his doll Rosa to mind their own business, and after Jack leaves, Rosa says that she doesn't like Jack. Ricky says he doesn't like him, either. Rosa then orders Ricky to get rid of Jack, but Ricky says that Johnny Mundo would be mad. Rosa then asks Ricky who controls his life: him, or Johnny Mundo.

Pentagon Dark retains the Lucha Underground Championship against Cage. After the match, Cage tries to hit Pentagon Dark with a discus forearm, but Pentagon Dark ducks, hits him with the Lucha Underground title, says the title is his, and nearly breaks Cage's arm only for Cage to get up, pick Pentagon Dark up and slam him face first into the Lucha Underground title. Cage picks up the title, then tells Pentagon Dark that he cannot break his arm for he is a machine.
