Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 4, 2016

During the pre-show, Alexa Bliss told Tom Phillips last week that Becky Lynch is a loser and that she is not deserving of being SmackDown Women's Champion.

During the pre-show, Charly Caruso says that Nikki Bella is sharp and focused for her match against Alexa Bliss and is getting ready to take on that "East River rat" Carmella. Also, Miz TV is a go tonight with Dolph Ziggler as the special guest, and Bray Wyatt will be facing Kane tonight.

Kane beats Bray Wyatt by count-out after Randy Orton appears on the TitanTron, saying that he is viewing the world the way he sees it and that he will turn his world right-side up. After he dares Wyatt to "come catch his prey," Kane is back up and fights Wyatt again, but Wyatt leaves the ring.

Charly Caruso interviews Baron Corbin, who says that Jack Swagger is dumber than he looks if he thinks he can make waves, and if he's stupid enough to get in the ring with him, he'll leave him lying where he stands. Corbin runs into Swagger, who wants to see who the better man is between them. Corbin says he only does his talking in the ring, and Swagger says he's going to Daniel Bryan so he can "continue this conversation."

Bray Wyatt tells Randy Orton that his time is coming backstage.

Carmella guests on commentary for the next match.

Nikki Bella beats Alexa Bliss by disqualification after Carmella interferes in revenge for Nikki Bella tosses Alexa Bliss into her. Becky Lynch rushes in to even the odds, forcing Carmella and Alexa Bliss to retreat.

Carmella and Alexa Bliss beat Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella after Nikki chases Carmella to the back.

Bray Wyatt continues to look for Randy Orton backstage. Bray then sees his rocking chair underneath a smoking brown light. We find out it is inside a container when Randy Orton closes and locks a slide-down door on Bray, and asks him what it's like when the hunter is now the hunted.

General Manager Daniel Bryan awards five contest winners - and breast cancer survivors - with honorary WWE SmackDown Women's Championships.

The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) beat The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch). The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) are seen at the top of the entrance ramp after the match.

It's time for Miz TV, and tonight's special guest is Dolph Ziggler. Miz tells Ziggler his career could be over, but it will not be forgotten. We see a video package of Dolph Ziggler's career that mocks more than celebrates, and after Miz opens his mouth, Ziggler threatens to slap the hell out of him. Ziggler says that he has had some magical moments, and says he put his career on the line as he can't just walk away and yet if he can't deliver, he doesn't belong here. At the same time, Miz says he's not done yet, and that he will deliver Sunday and that The Miz won't take his career from him...ever. Miz says he has something to brighten his spirit after he ends Ziggler's career on Sunday: Kenny and Mikey from the Spirit Squad. An angered Dolph gets in Miz's face asking if he wants to go, but he gets attacked by Kenny and Mikey. Kenny and Mikey end up eating a superkick, but Miz ducks out of the ring before he eats one, too.

Bray Wyatt is still stuck in the storage container.

Nikki Bella vs. Carmella is official for No Mercy.

Jason Jordan beats Jey Uso with a surprise roll-up. After the match, Jimmy Uso attacks Chad Gable, and Jey Uso hits Jordan with a chop block when he confronts Jimmy. Jey is about to injure Jordan like he did Chad Gable when Heath Slater and Rhyno rush in and force The Usos to retreat.

Bray Wyatt sits in the rocking chair, talking to "Sister Abigail" and asking her to take him home.

Randy Orton opens the storage container...and finds that Bray Wyatt has escaped.

Curt Hawkins is debuting at No Mercy.

Jack Swagger beats Baron Corbin with the Patriot Lock when the referee interprets Corbin reaching for the bottom rope as Corbin tapping out. Corbin flips over steel steps and tears up the commentary table in anger after the match.

AJ Styles shows up. He says that SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity, and that he took his opportunity to be the new face that runs the place and became just that before becoming World Champion. Suddenly, Dean Ambrose shows up. Ambrose is not too thrilled about John Cena costing him last week's match. Cena shows up, and Styles tells Cena to shut up before he can even say a word, as he knows what he is going to say, saying it is an insult for Cena to compare himself to "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Styles tells Cena that he makes history while Cena chases it. Ambrose tells Cena to shut up, saying that Cena is going to spin anything he says. He tells Cena he can't work him, that Cena had no respect for him even when he came in and kissed his ass, and that he fought wars while John Cena was away doing other projects and whatnot. Cena fights both Styles and Ambrose. Cena stands tall at first, then Styles hits Cena with the Phenomenal Foream, then Ambrose hits Styles with Dirty Deeds.

On Talking Smack, AJ Styles shows up and says that his being underestimated has become key to his success, as he has risen above those underestimations, proven himself over and over again and has beaten opponents all around the world to win world titles, and become the best that he has ever been and risen to where he is now. He says he has been looked over before, and he has fought through that to become a champion. He proclaims that he will face anyone and everyone that Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon put in front of him, as he is a winner.

Shane McMahon shows up to start off tonight's Raw, and Stephanie McMahon joins him not long afterwards. They announce SmackDown will go live on Tuesday nights on July 19th, then announce tht tonight is the return of John Cena. The New Day think Stephanie is dodging the question, and after some thought, they are afraid that The New Day will be split up. Stephanie says that nothing has officially been decided yet. They then ask who will run SmackDown, and Stephanie says that hasn't been figured out either. They then challenge Stephanie to a dance challenge to decide who runs it, and Shane accepts. He teases addressing the crowd, then rushes to the bottom of the ramp and walks away again. He then grabs the microphone, teases speaking, then drops the microphone and leaves. Earlier today, Stephanie McMahon called Charlotte - to her face - an embarassment, saying that she is ashamed to have her as WWE Women's Champion. She calls her a "self-centered, spoiled brat" and "a waste of talent" for her actions towards "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair last week.

He then talks about the new era, and if his best days are behind him, it's only a matter of time before new names move up and he moves out, and that the future goes through him as he will not go quietly. Suddenly, AJ Styles shows up. Fans chant loudly for both Cena and Styles for several minutes, then Styles says he's waited for this moment for a long time. He has respect for all of his work, and came to be one of the first to welcome him back. They shake hands, then The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) show up and call out AJ Styles for "sucking up to Cena," and that they're not here to kiss ass, but to kick it. AJ Styles and John Cena are about to fight The Club when Styles strikes Cena instead, and the three of them then attack John Cena, revealing that they're back on the same page and back together again. Generation NXT - NXT recap for December 4, 2014

Charlotte quickly beats Mia Yim (who isn't even mentioned by name in this match). After the match, Sasha Banks shows up and tells her she's challenging her at NXT TakeOver: REvolution, and says she has more "Flair" than Charlotte and her dad Ric Flair combined. Charlotte is unfazed, and she starts a "Ratchet" chant. Bayley shows up with a crutch and tells Sasha to shut her "stupid ratchet face" up. Sasha kicks the crutch away, and Charlotte chases Sasha Banks away. Banks rushes back in and goes after Charlotte, but Charlotte snatches her up, throws her in the ring and asks for a ref as she does. As Charlotte is about to smack Sasha silly, Becky Lynch provides the distraction, and both Becky and Sasha beat Charlotte up. Sasha then stands tall, lifting the NXT Women's Championship over her head.

We see another silent movie with The Vaudevillians (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) and the "Lucha Dragons."

The Vaudevillians (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) beat Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

With Marcus Louis out of the picture, Tyler Breeze thinks he has the night off...until Tyson Kidd asks William Regal for a match. Regal puts Kidd and Breeze in a tag team match against Hideo Itami and Finn Balor.

Bull Dempsey quickly destroys Elias Samson. After the match, Baron Corbin comes out for his match. Dempsey stays at the ramp, gazing at Corbin as he quickly beats his opponent in 13 seconds.

Kevin Owens comes to NXT...next week!

Finn Balor and Hideo Itami beat Tyler Breeze and Tyson Kidd. Balor tells The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) to bring all they've got at NXT TakeOver: REvolution.

Adrian Neville shows up. He says he will win at REvolution at all costs against Sami Zayn and retain the NXT Championship. He is not proud of his recent actions, and says things would have went differently if it were up to him, but says that his "win at all costs" attitude is what separates him from Zayn, who he says is "too nice" to take the title. Zayn shows up, and he's ticked off with what Neville is saying. Neville says he means no disrespect, and that it would be an honor to face him at NXT TakeOver: REvolution. Zayn doesn't shake hands with him, as he says it's no longer about respect between the two of them, then slaps Neville in the face before going ballistic as he tells Neville he's ending him and that he's taking the NXT Championship.

The Vaudevillians (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) beat Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Sasha Banks beats Bayley with the Bank Statement. After the match, Banks attacks Bayley again, but Becky Lynch makes the save very quickly...only to attack Bayley from behind and join forces with Sasha Banks.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady meet Carmella backstage. She's got a match with Emma next week, thanks to William Regal. After hearing about this, it's Big Cass who gets the love and not Enzo.

Adrian Neville retains the NXT Championship against Titus O'Neil. After the match, Sami Zayn shows up and congratulates Neville, but says he wants a piece of the NXT Championship. Neville tells him to name the time and place, and he'll do it.
