Generation NXT - NXT recap for March 16, 2016

Sami Zayn shows up to start the show. He says he didn't have a match with Samoa Joe; he had a war. He came up short, but he has not regrets about the match, and still plans on being a two-time NXT Champion. As he talks about NXT TakeOver: Dallas and how he deserves something special, NXT General Manager William Regal shows up. Regal agrees he deserves something, and announces that at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, Sami Zayn will face none other than new NXT signee and former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura appears on the TitanTron, telling him he'll see him at NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) beat Angelo Dawkins and Kenneth Crawford.

NXT was at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio for the second year in a row.

Emma and Dana Brooke run into Deonna Purrazzo, who mock her for being unable to beat Asuka weeks ago. Emma says the Emmalution can't stop and won't stop, but Deonna says the Emmalution will be stopped tonight. Emma and Dana Brooke don't take her seriously.

Emma beats Deonna Purrazzo with the Emma Lock.

The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) stretch out backstage.

Tommaso Ciampa beats Jesse Sorensen by submission.

Asuka and Bayley beat Nia Jax and Eva Marie after Nia Jax accidentally hits a leg drop on Eva Marie. After the match, NXT General Manager William Regal says that Bayley has set the standard for what it means to be a champion in NXT, and Asuka has elevated an already stand-out NXT Divas Division even higher. Regal declares Asuka the new #1 contender to the NXT Women's Championship. Asuka stares crazily at Bayley before leaving the ring.

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves interview Austin Aries via satellite. He says Baron Corbin made a mistake blindsiding him, and that he will soon find out at NXT TakeOver: Dallas that lessons are the only things given and that "it'll be a great day to be great and a bad day to be you."

American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) beat The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) to become #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships!
