Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 29, 2023

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins heads to the ring from the crowd to start tonight's show. Rollins says it has been a long, long road with highs and low to become World Heavyweight Champion and that is just feels right. He says he wants to focus more on the future than the past, as Raw finally has a champion that wants to be here, is going to be here and is ready for a fight. Rollins says he wants all the fight because he wants to be here and hear the world sing his song, then "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up. Styles says he is supposed to be on SmackDown, but he could not resist showing up tonight to congratulate him. He says that he left it all in the ring and that Styles knew what he would do before he did it, and the fans say that Rollins deserves the title. He then says Rollins does not deserve anything, because he earned the right to be World Heavyweight Champion. Rollins says he is not good at these things, but after the beating he gave him, he earned a handshake. Both men shake hands in the middle of the ring, then The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio) show up. Finn Balor pretends to vomit before he asks The Judgment Day if this makes them feel sick, because the handshake makes him wants to puke. Damian Priest agrees, and Rhea Ripley says they run Raw as they get in the ring. Priest then says that after The Bloodline imploded on Saturday, The Judgment Day run WWE. Finn says they have beaten Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, something Roman Reigns could not do. Rhea then tells The Judgment Day could also take the World Heavyweight Championship, and that even Dominik could do it. Styles and Rollins laugh. When Dominik says he beat Styles, Styles still does not take it seriously. Finn says that they watched Rollins and Styles beat each other to death, and Dominik says they will finish the job. Styles and Rollins take this as a challenge and accept.

Backstage, WWE official Adam Pearce makes the match between The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio) and the team of Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles official, then finds Styles and Rollins and meets with them while still on the phone. With the meeting, the match happens.

Ricochet beats The Miz to qualify for the men's Money In The Bank match.

Trish Stratus heads to the ring. After stating that the fans saying "Thank you, Trish" means absolutely nothing, she says that she did what she set out to do at Night of Champions and beat Becky Lynch, and says things like this are what you do when you are "it." She then says Becky can go back into her dark hole and go through her stuff while the real superstars like the one who had her back and wanted to help despite her not needing the help - Zoey Stark - have a shot at the big time. She says that Zoey Stark reminds her of herself and is one of the most aggressive superstars that she has seen in a long time, then brings out Zoey Stark. Zoey Stark says she came to WWE to be the best and make a statement, and asks who better to do it with than Trish Stratus. She says she could have either taken the long, hard, difficult road like Becky did or be smart and be led by Trish. She says that Trish is so giving, humble and kind, and now that she has the floor, she thanks Trish. After Zoey mentions the bruise on Trish's face, Trish says that if Becky messes with her face again, Zoey will tell her what is up. Becky shows up and tells Zoey she will ruin her life before saying she and Trish are still in their gear and that they can finish what they started tonight. Zoey charges at Becky only to get laid out, then Becky gets in the ring with Trish. Becky fends off Trish and Zoey, but Zoey attacks becky from behind. Becky fights back, but Trish and Zoey ultimately get the best of her. Zoey then takes off her "Thank You Trish" shirt, and she and Trish place it on top of Becky.

Indus Sher (Veer Mahaan and Sanga) beat Javier Bernal and an unnamed tag team partner.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn head to the ring. Sami Zayn says that on Saturday, he and Kevin Owens won and that Roman Reigns deserves everything he has received, and while Roman may be the greatest of all time, for the rest of his life, when he looks at them, he will know in his heart that they won. All of a sudden, Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) show up, and Ludwig Kaiser says that while Sami and Owens' victory was impressive, it was not as impressive as Gunther's. Owens asks Imperium why they are here and says this is not the Wild West as he rants at them for coming out without being called out, then Sami calms him down before agreeing with him and reminds Imperium of what happened the last time they had a match as he asks why they are not preparing for their match with Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis). Kaiser says Matt Riddle is more of an embarrassment than Sami and Owens holding the tag team titles, and deems them unworthy of holding the titles or representing Raw. Owens then audibly wonders why Giovanni Vinci never speaks and wants to know what his opinion is. As Ludwig Kaiser screams at Sami and Owens for besmirching them, they get shooshed by Chad Gable, who shows up with Otis and Maxxine Dupri and promises to teach Imperium a lesson.

WWE announces their partnership with the National Medal of Honor Museum.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring. He admits that he lost to Brock Lesnar and was told that he was foolish to fight Lesnar with only one hand, and says that he did not tap out because that is not the man that he wants to be. He also admits that he would have tapped out years ago, and that he has seen enough highs and lows to know that sometimes, second chances do not come, then asks Lesnar if he is satisfied with this being done, as they both have one victory over each other. Cody then hopes that he is not, then tells Lesnar that he if is in a wrestling ring, he will be ready to fight him. He also says that he wants tonight to be the last night he rattles off Lesnar's accomplishments before saying he is beast enough to break his arm but not man enough to make him tap out, and that he is afraid of what he cannot break and that he is afraid of Cody Rhodes.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Matt Riddle. Riddle says it is only going to get crazier from here if he qualified for Money In The Bank and cashed in on Roman Reigns. Gunther shows up and congratulates Riddle before wishing him luck on his opportunity, then tells him to cash in on him so he can beat and humiliate him, which is fun to him.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler. Ronda says that for the last ten years, they have been discounted, and Baszler says that they have went through everyone limb by limb and have become champions. Rhea Ripley says she absolutely destroyed Natalya on Satuday, and Dominik Mysterio says Natalya will think twice before stepping up. She says that one should not get distracted like Natalya if they want to win gold. On the subject of who will face AJ Styles and Seth Rollins, Finn says to Byron he would tell him, but he would have to kill him. Damian stops him before he can finish that statement and tells Byron to do his job somewhere else.

WWE acknowledges Memorial Day.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beat The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest). During the match, Rollins saves Styles from a beating by Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, then throws Dominik into the ring. This causes the referee to eject Rhea and Dominik frmo ringside.
