Generation NXT - NXT recap for August 28, 2019

Io Shirai beats Cami Fields by submission with the Harajuku Clutch. (Cami Fields is best known as Holidead from Ring of Honor.) After the match, Shirai pulls a Kendo stick out from underneath the ring, but Candice LeRae shows up, takes it from her and swings it at her, forcing Shirai to retreat.

We see a vignette for KUSHIDA.

Dominik Dijakovic beats Keith Lee in his first match since returning from injury.

We see an NXT career retrospective for Johnny Gargano.

Shane Thorne shows up and says that Johnny Gargano is the past, while he is the present and the future. He asks why people aren't talking about him.

We see footage of Mia Yim trying to get another match against "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler from General Manager William Regal only to come up empty-handed.

Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler show up. Before Shayna Baszler can even speak, Rhea Ripley shows up. Rhea snatches the microphone from Baszler's hand and says she knows what she's going to say, and that she has yet to beat her.

We see a vignette of Pete Dunne talking about his time in WWE.

Next week: Velveteen Dream vs. "The Finest" Kona Reeves! Jordan Myles vs. Adam Cole for the NXT Championship!

The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) beat Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) to win the NXT Tag Team Championships for a record-setting third time.
