Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 19, 2019

Jerry "The King" Lawler replaces Corey Graves on commentary for the night.

Before the next match, Dolph Ziggler tells Roman Reigns that he wants him to know that he is glad he is okay, but that he doesn't get why Roman gets all the attention from this while nobody cares that he got Speared three times by Goldberg. He also says that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels superkicked him and that Mike Kanellis beat him with the Figure Four Leg Lock, then says it should be him before hitting Roman with a surprise superkick.

Roman Reigns beats Dolph Ziggler.

In footage from earlier today, Becky Lynch talks about the beating Sasha Banks gave her last week, and says she keeps calling people out because she wants the best, most aggressive version of everyone coming after the Raw Women's title. Right now, Sasha Banks is at that level, and she has her to thank for that. She talks about how Sasha Banks walked out of WWE four months ago before suddenly coming back last week, and asks what Sasha suddenly did that made her so hot. She says Sasha did nothing, and goes on to say that Sasha is the best woman on the roster to never be great. Becky then tells Sasha that she has put more work into putting Sasha into the WWE than Sasha did. She says that the great do not need to be goaded into greatness; they have to put themselves there. Becky then calls what is going on between her and Sasha a "cat-and-mouse game," and when she catches Sasha, she will give her something to cry about.

It's time for The King's Court. Tonight's guest is Sasha Banks, but before the interview, he talks about the King of the Ring Tournament. Lawler calls it one of his favorite WWE events, as it has been a launching pad for legends like Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar. The sixteen-Superstar bracket is revealed, then Lawler says it will come down to Cedric Alexander and Ricochet on the Raw side. Before he can say much else, the lights go out and Lawler gets out of the ring, as he knows The Fiend is going to show up. The lights go out before Lawler gets on the stage, and The Fiend shows up and puts Lawler in the Mandible Claw. When the lights come back on, Lawler is laid out on the stage, and referees and security check on Lawler.

Vic Joseph replaces Jerry "The King" Lawler on commentary.

Ricochet and The Miz beat Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.

Michael Cole interviews Booker T via Skype. Booker T compares The Fiend to a rabid dog, and says that Jerry "The King" Lawler was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He also says King of the Ring puts an exclamation point on a career, and says it catapulted him to new heights. He picks Drew McIntyre to win the King of the Ring tournament.

Braun Strowman beats "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles by disqualification after Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson attack Strowman. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles retains the WWE United States Championship. Gallows and Anderson continue to attack Strowman after the match, then Seth Rollins runs in and fends them off to make the save for Strowman. Strowman and Rollins then shake hands.

Backstage, Seth Rollins catches up with Braun Strowman, and says if it were up to him, Strowman would be the next challenger for the Universal Championship. For now, they need to handle their business with The O.C. ("The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson) Seth proposes they team up to face Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson later tonight. Strowman is okay with the idea.

Samoa Joe beats Cesaro with the Coaquina Clutch to advance to the quarter-finals of the King of the Ring tournament.

We get a closer look at Charlotte Flair, courtesy of Mountain Dew.

We see Drake Maverick's unsuccessful attempt at taking the WWE 24/7 Championship from Elias in the recording studio.

Elias is in the ring. He is about to make an announcement when interference hits his voice, then Elias announces that tonight is his farewell performance. As he says there is so much going on in his life right now, the interference continues. Elias proceeds to play, then he is out of tune. Black and yellow gloves are seen behind Elias as he speaks and plays. An assistant in a black robe wearing said gloves shows up to give him his guitar, and it ends up being R-Truth. A referee is in the ring, and R-Truth tries to win the 24/7 Championship from Elias. R-Truth has trouble beating Elias with inside cradles, so he picks up a guitar and considers using a guitar as a weapon. He swings, but Elias runs away.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Rey Mysterio. Rey thanks Charly Caruso for the time and the forum, and says that he is a very fortunate man with a wonderful family and career. He says he has wrestled for a very long time and traveled all over the world and met people who he has considered great friends. He then says things have not been clicking as of late, and calls Andrade's actions from last week "a disgrace." He can tell what he is going to do before he does it, but his body is not catching up with his mind, and he fears his injuries are catching up with him. He knows that this day has to come, but he did not expect it to come to him, and says it is time for him to hang up the mask and let the new generation of Superstars make their wave in. Suddenly, Dominic shows up, and says that he wants to tell his children that he teamed with his own father. He asks Rey not to retire yet, and says he will make him proud. Rey says he will do it for him, because he loves him. Both men then hug.

Thew New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) beat The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) by disqualification after Randy Orton comes out with an RKO out of nowhere to Big E. Kofi Kingston rolls into the ring and fights off both Orton and The Revival, but he soon falls victim to an RKO. Orton slowly picks Kofi up, and Woods gets back in the ring to fight off Orton only to be hit with a Shatter Machine into the RKO by Orton and The Revival. Orton then grabs Kofi and forces him to watch as The Revival shatter Woods' left knee.

Michael Cole interviews Sasha Banks. Sasha Banks says that last week, she looked in the mirror and told herself to lose the color, and says it is time to show up and show out, as she looks good and feels even better. As for why she attacked Natalya and Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks simply tells Michael Cole "You're welcome" when Cole says that the fans will thank her for explaining her actions. She then leaves.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross beat Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

Backstage, Seth Rollins speaks Braun Strowman, who is transfixed on the WWE Universal Championship. Seth wants Strowman to focus, but Strowman tells him to follow his lead so they can become tag team champions tonight.

We get a closer look at Kane's career, courtesy of Trolli.

Cedric Alexander beats Sami Zayn to advance to the quarter-finals of the King of the Ring tournament.

Backstage, Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) compare King of the Ring bracket predictions, then mention the matches in the tournament for SmackDown and next week's Raw, then Angelo Dawkins asks why there isn't a King of the Ring for tag teams. Montez Ford says they are already kings around here, then Angelo Dawkins mentions tonight's main event for the Raw tag team titles before Ford mentions the match is next.

Backstage, The O.C. ("The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson) all agree that Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman have done nothing to earn a tag team title shot, and Styles says that tonight is their chance to prove that they stand no chance against The O.C.

We hear from Natalya, who says that she expected this week to be emotional, but she did not expect Sasha Banks. Sasha was one of her closest friends, and she cannot understand Sasha's actions last week. As she talks about Sasha's actions this week, Natalya is suddenly attacked by Sasha Banks, who puts Natalya's injured arm in an open cabinet and slams it. She then tells Natalya "Go to Hell, Nattie...and tell your daddy I said 'hi.'"

Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman beat The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) to become the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions! At the stage, Strowman lifts up the hand holding the WWE Universal Championship. Rollins notices this as the show fades to black.
