Generation NXT - NXT recap for December 5, 2018

"The King of Bros" Matt Riddle beats the debuting Punishment Martinez. After the match, Matt Riddle is met with a discus elbow from Kassius Ohno on the ramp.

We see a video package for Ricochet, then see footage from earlier today where Ricochet says that it feels great to be the highlight reel of NXT. However, he is here to win and he has yet to be pinned at any TakeOver. Next week, he is issuing an open challenge for the NXT North American Championship.

We see footage of Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) in the WWE Performance Center. They say that they have grown in the last year-and-a-half as a unit, and they want the NXT tag team titles.

It is announced that there will be a Fatal 4-Way match to decide a #1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship. The first competitor is Bianca Belair, who qualified for the match at a house show last week.

The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) beat Humberto Carrillo and Raul Mendoza.

Backstage, Cathy Kelly interviews Velveteen Dream, who says that the everyone is still talking about him, which is win-win for him. As for what is next for him, he leaves that as a mystery.

We hear from The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) from inside of a supply truck. Bobby Fish addresses EC3, saying he is the guy that he's been warned about and that EC3 should ask himself how deep he is willing to go when the deep end is infested with sharks. He warns EC3 that The Undisputed Era bit him before and that they can do it again. The Undisputed Era then focus on the rest of the tag team division, saying Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) have never faced anyone like them. Cole says Heavy Machinery can keep trying, but this is their era and it is undisputed.

It is announced that Hanson is recovering from broken ribs, ruptured spleen and a torn ligament after the War Games Match at NXT TakeOver: War Games 2018.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler beats Dakota Kai after rendering Dakota Kai unconscious with the Kirafuda Clutch. After the match, Baszler, Jessaymn Duke and Marina Shafir continue to gang up on Dakota Kai, then Io Shirai runs in and fights them all off. Dakota Kai recovers and nearly kicks Baszler's head off, but Duke and Shafir get Baszler out of the ring.

We see a vignette for Dominic Dijakovic.

Next week: EC3 vs. Bobby Fish!

Tommaso Ciampa shows up. Ciampa says another TakeOver is in the books, and once again, he is NXT's MVP. He says that he has proven his word time and time again, and not only has he exposed the mystique, but he has turned the Dream into a nightmare. Unfortunately, the fans do not accept him as NXT Champion, and says nobody believes in him. He also says that Mauro Ranallo does not even believe in him on commentary, then says "Mama mia, here I stand!" Ciampa then says that his title reign will go down as the single greatest reign in NXT and that children will grow up and study his work. He says is not flavor of the week or the month, he is Sports Illustrated Entertainer of the Year for 2018 and will be for 2019. Suddenly, Aleister Black shows up. Aleister says he stood toe-to-toe with Johnny Gargano and absolved him of sins that Ciampa created. He then says that Ciampa is not really a champion, as he sees original sin that he too will absolve, as he invokes his rematch clause for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. Johnny Gargano suddenly shows up and says it's not over between him and Aleister, and says it is not over when he says it's over. Ciampa says he likes it when Gargano comes in and becomes "Johnny Badass," and says that when Gargano gets fixated on something, he refuses to let go. Ciampa says that both men nearly kicked each other's heads off and that they should have been in the War Games cage, and says that if it were him, he would want to finish this once and for all inside of a steel cage. He knows that both Aleister and Gargano - as well as the fans - love the sound of a steel cage match between both men. Gargano asks the fans if that is what they want, and accepts the challenge. Johnny says he is "Johnny Freakin' Wrestling," and Aleister says that "Johnny Wrestling" is dead and that he will fight him anywhere, including a parking lot. Gargano says he injured him for three months the last time that happened, and nearly gets his head kicked off. Gargano slides out just in time, but Ciampa isn't as lucky as Aleister kicks him off the apron before staring down Gargano from inside the ring.
