Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for December 4, 2018

General Manager Paige is in the ring. She says that SmackDown Live is not just the land of opportunity, but the brand that makes history, and she is sanctioning the very first TLC Match for the SmackDown Women's Championship, which is also a Triple Threat Match. Asuka is introduced first, followed by Charlotte Flair and SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch. Becky says today must be Tuesday, as she makes history whenever she steps in the ring and she will make it again at TLC, as the pain in that night's match is nothing compared to the pain in making it to where she is tonight. She does not care how her opponents got to where she did, and says she will do anything it takes to retain at TLC. Charlotte tells Becky to change the song, because she sings the same one about her career every time. She says that she picked up the ball Becky dropped at Survivor Series and destroyed "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey with a kendo stick, just like it took one punch for Nia Jax to bust Becky's face open. Charlotte then tells Becky to imagine what she will do to her with tables, ladders and chairs. Asuka interrupts them both to say that Becky beat Charlotte, that Becky hasn't beaten her, that she could have beaten Ronda, and that she will beat Becky at TLC. Charlotte reminds Asuka that she beat her and broke her streak at WrestleMania, but Asuka says she got lucky one time. All three women argue, then Becky says neither of them could beat Ronda or her before signing the contract and leaving. Charlotte says Becky can go ahead and leave, as Becky is all talk and she will beat her and beat Asuka again. Asuka says something, but Charlotte says she broke her mystique and that she will finish her at TLC. Paige calms both women down and asks them to sign the contract. Charlotte signs the contract, as does Asuka, who proposes breaking Charlotte right now. Suddenly, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville show up. Mandy is not impressed with the contract signing, saying both Asuka and Charlotte are undeserving of the match, as Paige personally groomed the two of them for stardom. She also reminds Charlotte that she lost at Survivor Series. Sonya says Asuka only won last week's battle royal because she made one tiny mistake, and promises that it will not happen again. Mandy says they are driven to action, and if Paige wants fire and desire, they are it. She then asks what happens if Charlotte and Asuka fail to make it to TLC despite signing the contract for their match at TLC, and Paige makes a tag team match between the team of Mandy and Sonya and the team of Charlotte and Asuka right now.

Backstage, Commissioner Shane McMahon is met by The Miz. Miz wants to know why he is hosting Miz TV with Daniel Bryan tonight, and Shane says it is his show and it is must-see. Miz wants to be partners with Shane, but Shane wants him to interview Daniel Bryan to get some insight out of him. Miz says that if he is going to this, Shane owes him, but Shane says he owes him nothing.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville beat Charlotte Flair and Asuka after miscommunication between Charlotte and Asuka following an inadvertent big boot to Asuka. During the match, Becky Lynch watches from ringside.

Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who will star in Tribute To The Troops, is in the front row.

It is announced that The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods), The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) will be in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships at TLC.

Jey Uso beats Xavier Woods and Cesaro in a Triple Threat Match.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Rusev and Lana. Rusev says Shinsuke Nakamura attacked him before the match because he is afraid of him, his strength and his hunger for the United States Championship. He says that the United States title represents honor, courage and tradition - things Nakamura does not have - and when he gets his hands on him, he will feast on Nakamura on the greatest holiday of them all: Rusev Day.

It's time for Miz TV. Before The Miz can get the show started, Carmella and R-Truth show up to interrupt Miz and do a dance break on the stage before leaving. Tonight's guest is "The New" Daniel Bryan, who teases doing a "Yes!" chant before simply walking to the ring. Miz notices that Daniel Bryan seems more confident and carefree about what people think about him, and Miz proclaims that he was right all along. Daniel says everyone thought the old him was smart, but the old him also catered to the fans and allowed their expectations to subvert his dreams. He has realized he does not care about the fans, and allowed his dreams to take control. He says he does not have many peers to share his ideas with, but he has books to consult the greatest minds in history. He then says the fans are fickle, and says Alexander Hamilton stated that giving power to the mindless masses is bad for people and society. He then says the knowledge of the old him combined with the tenacity of the new him is even more dangerous, then Miz asks if what Hamilton wrote is exactly what he has been saying and telling him for years: do what it takes to win. Daniel says Miz dances around the issue and never gets to the point. He says that he kicked "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles in the groin, and did it to one man on one day. He then goes militant vegan/environmentalist mode on the fans before bragging about kicking Styles in the groin again. Miz says that Daniel painted him as the bad guy for eight years and had everyone fooled but him, and states that he wants a simple answer to a simple question: whether or not Daniel is WWE Champion because he listened to him. Daniel Bryan says "Yes," then "no," then alternates quickly between the two answers before saying it does not matter. He says all that matters is that the old him and the Yes Movement is dead as he tosses his championship side plates onto the mat. He then says that he is the WWE Champion and "The New" Daniel Bryan before calling the fans fickle again as Styles shows up. Daniel pushes Miz into Styles before running out of the ring and into the stands, but Styles catche sup with him and yanks him back into the ringside area. Styles follows Daniel into the ring, but Miz gets involved. Daniel is able to get away as Miz hits Styles with the Skull Crushing Finale.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. The Miz is made official for later tonight.

Randy Orton beats Jeff Hardy. During the match, Hardy hits Orton on the announce table and is about to hit a Swanton Bomb onto the table before Samoa Joe is seen at a bar on the TitanTron saying Hardy is doing a great job. The distraction allows Orton to hit the RKO for the win. After the match, Joe is seen on the TitanTron again, still at the bar and talking about the dangers of excess when it comes to alcohol in an attempt to make fun of Hardy's past substance abuse issues again.

Next week: A rap battle between The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) hosted by The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods)! Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka in a WrestleMania rematch!

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews "The New" Daniel Bryan. Daniel says he is here because the new him does not run, and that everything he does is done with purpose. He then announces he is guesting on commentary for the next match.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats The Miz with the Calf Crusher despite Daniel Bryan's interference attempts. After the match, Daniel Bryan assaults AJ Styles around the ring, repeatedly attacking the back of Styles' leg before putting it in the heel hook. Daniel Bryan lets go after multiple referees show up, then kicks Styles in the head before stomping it into the mat and running a victory lap around the ring and doing it again. Daniel Bryan then aggressively demands that ring announcer Greg Hamilton call him "The New Daniel Bryan" before standing on the announce table and calling the fans fickle. The show ends with Daniel Bryan running back in the ring and locking the heel hook on Styles' hurt leg once more.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
