Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 30, 2018

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up to start tonight's show. After being given a standing ovation, Styles says he has something to get off his chest and would rather say it to his opponent's face. He asks Daniel Bryan to come to the ring, and Daniel Bryan shows up. Styles that after what happened last week, he wants to apologize, and says sorry to Daniel Bryan. Daniel says there is no need, as they are fighting for the same prize and he has an infinite amount of respect for him as a man and an in-ring competitor. However, right now, he does not see a friend or a respected colleague; he sees the WWE Championship. He says that title has a lot of meaning to him, as it is what kept him fighting when nobody said he could come back, and all that is in his way is Styles. He says it is nothing personal, and that he will take the title from him this Friday at Crown Jewel. Styles says Daniel should have let him finish, and tells him that he lied when he said the Pele Kick was an accident and that it really was meant for him. He says it is nothing personal and he looks forward to doing it again at Crown Jewel. Daniel Bryan pretends to be surprised, then says he is honest and feels like hitting him on purpose. Styles asks what is stopping him, and says they can fight for the title tonight. Suddenly, Commissioner Shane McMahon shows up, and decides to make the match official for tonight instead of Crown Jewel. He also announces that this match is happening right now, and asks for a referee to get in the ring.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship against Daniel Bryan with the Calf Crusher following a Styles Clash to counter a triangle hold. Both men shake hands after the match, then Samoa Joe shows up from out of nowhere and proceeds to attack Styles before locking in the Coaquina Clutch. Daniel Bryan makes the save for Styles, but Joe overpowers D-Bry after attacking his hurt knee and puts him in the Coaquina Clutch as well before leaving.

We hear from Jeff Hardy, who says that the risks he has taken have helped make a complete self-portrait. At the WWE World Cup tournament, he unleashes the masterpiece of his life and proves he is the best in the world. We then hear from The Miz, who says that he is not only the best husband, father and reality star in the world, but the best in the world, and at Crown Jewel, he will have the trophy to prove it.

Backstage, General Manager Paige meets with Charlotte Flair, and congratulates her on having a great match with Becky Lynch at Evolution. She then asks her if she will be the captain of the SmackDown Live women's team at Survivor Series. Charlotte feels she is not the right woman for the job, but Paige asks her to think about it.

Before the next match, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) show up dressed like The Brood (Gangrel, Edge, Christian). Big E is Gangrel, while Xavier Woods is Edge and Kofi Kingston is Christian. When The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) and Big Show show up, Sheamus is dressed as Samhain, complete with gray facial hair as well as a gray-and-red mohawk.

Big E beats Cesaro in a Trick or Street Fight after spitting blood in Cesaro's face after countering the Neutralizer.

Backstage, Commissioner Shane McMahon meets with The Miz, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio. Rey and Orton have a war of words, as do Jeff Hardy and The Miz. All four men say they will win tonight and that they are the best in the world, then Shane tells the four of them that they cannot let Raw win the WWE World Cup. He says that if any of them makes to the finals and lose, they will be gone from the blue brand and will no longer have a home on SmackDown Live.

Backstage, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles meets with General Manager Paige, wanting Samoa Joe at Crown Jewel. Paige does not want to reward Joe, but Styles reminds her of the match at Super Show-Down. Paige makes it official for Crown Jewel, and Styles says she won't regret it...but Joe will.

Shinsuke Nakamura retains the WWE United States Championship against R-Truth. During the match, it is announced that "The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger was originally in this match, and that he has been replaced by R-Truth due to a re-aggravated injury.

Becky Lynch shows up. Becky says she was put through the wringer, but she got up again and she is the last woman standing. She says everyone knew who the rightful main event was, and it was her. She says she proved she was the man, not just on SmackDown Live, but also on Raw, and if she have to slap heads on the red brand, she'll do it. She then wants to know what planet "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey is the best in, as all her opponents are beaten before the opening bell. She then says she has trained and worked to destroy opponents like Rousey, and at Survivor Series, she will rip her arm off.

In the locker room, Samoa Joe asks AJ Styles if he thought they were done, if his kids no longer have nightmares about him, if his wife Wendy still checks the locks and AJ told his family everything was okay. He says that when AJ Styles defended the WWE Championship tonight, he knew he had to pick up his pen and write their final chapter, which will end with him beating Styles and holding the WWE Championship over his head at Crown Jewel.

Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio beat The Miz and Randy Orton. After the match, Randy Orton hits both Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and The Miz with RKO's from out of nowhere to end the show.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
