Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 2, 2018

General Manager Paige is in the ring to start tonight's show. Paige says that when she was told she would be General Manager, she never thought it would be as crazy as it would get last week. She says Samoa Joe crossed a line last week, and we see the footage from the end of last week's show. Paige says that AJ Styles' family is okay, and that authorities were contacted and Joe was not able to enter the house. Charges have been pressed, and Joe is charged with trespassing. She says that the board of directors have stated that Samoa Joe should be fired, but before she made a decision, she called Styles to see if he and his family were okay and noticed her heart went out to him. Styles said that he dropped the charges and that being fired was too good for Joe, then asked her to let him hand out the punishment to Joe. This Saturday at Super Show-Down, the WWE Championship match between Styles and Samoa Joe is still on. We then see a clip from Styles at his home, where Styles apologizes for not being able to perform at tonight's show due to the circumstances of last week and says this is bigger than WWE. He states that he does not want to do something stupid and regrettable, and is staying at home until he gets confirmation that Samoa Joe is on a plane to Australia. Styles says that his kids need him right now, especially when his daughter Annie is looking under her bed for Samoa Joe like he is some kind of boogeyman. He tells Samoa Joe that not only will this end, but that this needs to end, and that Joe will not be coming back from the land down under as that is exactly where he will put him, and instead of putting him in a casket, he will bury him alive.

R-Truth and Carmella beat Andrade "Cien" Almas and Zelina Vega with a Code of Silence to Zelina Vega after Carmella counters pin attempts by Vega.

Backstage, General Manager Paige is met by "The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger, who wants Randy Orton after the unprovoked attack from him last week. Paige gives him the match tonight.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) show up. The New Day introduces the pilot episode of "New Day Cooks." After Big E jokingly brings up IcoPro being their sponsor, The New Day talk about their match at Super Show-Down. Kofi says that The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) have had their number, and right now, they need a dose of positivity. Mr. Bootyworth is introduced as the man who makes the pancakes that they disperse every week, and tonight, he will share the special pancake recipe with the fans. Before Mr. Bootyworth can even speak, Sheamus and Cesaro show up. They complain that The New Day are acting like a bunch of children, and instead of preparing for their match, they are "playing with food." Woods complains that they are ruining the pilot, but Cesaro asks how you can ruin something that's already awful. Sheamus and Cesaro say they are here to help, as Cesaro knows how to make some good pastries. Sheamus knocks the table in the ring down to "make the baking process more efficient," and this starts a brawl between the two teams that sees The Bar come out on top. Afterwards, Sheamus and Cesaro corner Mr. Bootyworth, and lead him to the center of the ring where they take his hat and pour the pancake batter inside before placing the hat back on his head. Cesaro then pours the rest of the batter on top of Mr. Bootyworth as Sheamus stares Mr. Bootyworth down, then the two of them bully Mr. Bootyworth out of the ring.

Before the next match, it is announced that Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Batista) is re-uniting in two weeks for SmackDown 1000.

"The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger vs. Randy Orton ends when Orton exposes a turnbuckle, places Dillinger's finger inside and pulls back on the finger, injuring it.

Backstage, The Miz goes up to Shelton Benjamin and says "You're welcome." He says that Shelton is overlooked and "the real deal." He says he has given him an opportunity against Daniel Bryan and asks him if he will beat Daniel Bryan. Shelton says "yes." Miz tells him to do more to Daniel Bryan and make a statement by hurting Daniel Bryan. Shelton says he has been waiting to remind people who he is, and that Daniel Bryan is "unlucky casualty number one." Miz says he will be on commentary to see it happen and shakes his hand.

Backstage, Aiden English asks a backstage worker if the production staff if prepared, as he has something big in store tonight and he wants it to be in high-def.

Rusev and Lana show up. Rusev talks about how Aiden English attacked him two weeks ago, ending their team and their friendship before taking it a step further by mentioning video footage of Lana in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He says that this makes him want to tear Aiden's body apart, then calls Aiden out so he can show this video footage. Aiden English shows up and says he will display the footage, but gives a little backstory by talking about the town. Lana says Aiden is stalling, but Aiden says he is providing context. He says that Milwaukee is more than a forgettable city has a history of being the footage for many TV shows and movies, and tonight, it will be the backdrop for "One Night In Milwaukee." We finally see the footage, where Aiden tries to come up with a song to trash the town of Milwaukee to when Lana shows up. Lana tells Aiden that she wants him. The footage then stops there. Rusev looks to Lana for an explanation, and Aiden says he wants to show the rest but cannot due to legal obligations, as he is entertaining an offer from TMZ and does not want to "cheat on 'em." Lana tries to explain herself to Rusev, but Rusev chases Aiden English to the back.

The Grace Family are the recipients of tonight's Little Caesars Seat Upgrade.

WWE ambassador Dana Warrior, surgeon Dr. Toni Storm-Dickerson, fundraiser Jeanine Wolfe and breast cancer survivor Lt. Caprice Massey are then seen in the ring with Naomi.

Asuka beats Peyton Royce with the Asuka Lock after Naomi kicks Billie Kay's hands, breaking her grip on Peyton Royce during an ankle lock.

Becky Lynch shows up. Becky talks about how she won the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam and how she has been the best thing about the blue brand since then. Now that she has run through the SmackDown women's division, she owns it and has made it relevant. She then says that being nice and patient gets you backstabbed and treated like a fool, and she is now relentless and the one who strikes first and often. After showing a video package chronicling the events between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair since then, Becky says she has proved she has owned Charlotte time and again, yet she can't get the respect she deserves. Instead, Charlotte Flair is the one getting the action figures and photo shoots. She says that at Super Show-Down, she will prove that she is the face of the company, and if nobody wants to give it to her, she will do it herself. She then unveils a new poster for Super Show-Down which shows her raising her championship up with her foot on a downed Charlotte Flair. Like clockwork, Charlotte Flair runs into the ring, and Becky and Charlotte brawl. Charlotte quickly hits the Spear, then tosses Becky into her own poster before locking in the Figure Four Leg Lock on the apron.
