Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 9, 2018

Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship ends in a double count-out. (Had Becky been disqualified, the title would have changed hands.) After the match, Charlotte Flair chases Becky Lynch up the stage and Spears her through the LED wall. Referees and officials check on both women and call for a trainer, as Charlotte has broken her right wrist and is also bleeding from her right arm.

Next week: The Undertaker returns to SmackDown Live for the first time in almost two years for SmackDown 1000!

Jeff Hardy beats Samoa Joe by referee stoppage to qualify for the WWE World Cup after injuring Samoa Joe's left knee.

General Manager Paige announces that due to no clear winner and the intensity of their rivalry, Charlotte Flair will face Becky Lynch for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship in the first-ever Last Woman Standing Match (on the main roster) at Evolution.

It's time for Miz TV. The Miz announces that General Manager Paige has asked him to remain professional with his two guests at this time, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. Styles shows up first, followed by Daniel Bryan. Before Daniel Bryan shows up, The Miz asks Styles how his family is doing. Styles stands up, but Miz tells him he understood his rage and credits it for Styles beating Samoa Joe at Super Show-Down, then proceeds to make fun of Daniel Bryan's wholesomeness. Daniel Bryan then shows up after that, then shakes hands with Styles. The Miz makes fun of it, saying nobody wants to see that, then asks The Miz if he wants to talk about their match, joking that it would not him very long. Styles says that Samoa Joe was his greatest competitor so far after making their feud personal, but that his match with Daniel Bryan will stay in the ring. Miz says that Styles is implying that he is better, but both Styles and Daniel Bryan tell Miz that Styles didn't say that. Daniel Bryan says he is glad to face a worthy opponent for the WWE Championship, and that AJ Styles more than defines that and has the right to say he is better than anyone else. Meanwhile, he has something to prove, and knows he can beat Styles. Styles says that since Daniel Bryan came back from injury, he has not faced anyone who is phenomenal. Daniel proceeds to make fun of Miz again and says he gets where Styles is coming from, then says the WWE title is why he came back from retirement. He says that he has been talking about his dreams, but has never mentioned what said dreams were. Despite all that he has done since his return, including fighting The Miz, he only came back for the WWE Championship. Daniel then goes on to say that the only thing standing between him and the dream is Styles. Styles says he isn't moving for him or for anybody, and as they stare down, The Miz says it took them long enough. Styles then asks Daniel Bryan how ood it feels to punch The Miz in the face. Daniel Bryan says it feels great, and he and Styles joke about it until The Miz goes off, saying Daniel Bryan stole his potential title shot with an out-of-position ref and a small package. He says that he demanded a rematch from General Manager Paige and did not get it, despite beating him down week after week, and says that when he beat him, he at least knocked him out. He then calls Styles "another Daniel Bryan with an annoying Southern accent." He also says Styles has made the WWE Championship irrelevant and out of the main event because of how he looks, and says that regardless of who wins at Crown Jewel, he's got the winner. Miz then announces that Styles is facing Shelton Benjamin next.

The Miz and Daniel Bryan guest on commentary for the next match.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats Shelton Benjamin.

Aiden English is in the ring. He says that last week, he gave everyone a glimpse of "One Night In Milwaukee," and he got six figures to sell it. He then shows the director's cut. We see the same footage of what happened last week, but this time, a bit more is shown. Lana wants Aiden to know how much me means to Rusev, and that she and Rusev appreciate all he has done for his career. Aiden says that means a lot to him, and that Rusev and Lana mean the world to him. He touches her arm and leans in, then the footage stops. After asking the fans if they want to see more, he calls Rusev out. Rusev shows up. Aiden says he does not want to show the rest of the video, as everyone knows what happens next. He promises to destroy the video so it never sees the light of day again if Rusev kicks Lana to the curb and reforms the team. Lana shows up and tries to reason with Rusev, but Aiden tells Lana that Rusev has already made his choice. Rusev tells Aiden that is serious, and tells him to play the full tape. Aiden says this is a family show and that nobody should see it. Lana says that if Aiden won't, she will. Aiden asks how that is possible, and Rusev tells him he got hacked due to having too easy a password to guess. The rest of the video is shown. The footage is replayed, and this time, it is revealed what happened when Aiden leaned in towards Lana. Lana finds the lean-in creepy and leaves. Aiden is embarrassed by what has just been shown. Aiden admits that Lana and Rusev got him, but tells Lana the offer is still on the table, telling her that when she is tired of all those Rusev Days to treat herself to an "Aiden Night." Rusev chases after Aiden and nearly Machka Kicks his head off, but Aiden escapes.
