Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for July 29, 1996

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats Mike Enos. During the match, it is noticed that there are four empty chairs in the front row opposite the hard camera, and it is assumed that they are meant for the New World Order (Hall, Nash, Hulk Hogan). "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Duggan after the match, and says Hulk Hogan turned his back on everyone and everything, including himself, and wants to know why he turned his back on it all. He admits Hogan is a great technical wrestler, but he doesn't want to wrestle him. Instead, he wants to beat him up.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair! The Giant vs. Brian Knobbs! "The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage!

During the next match, Jimmy Hart runs to a cameraman, telling him to head to the back because The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) are in the back. When we finally see the backstage camera footage, we see Hall and Nash attack "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) and Rey Mysterio Jr. All six men in the current match - "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Sting, Lex Luger, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael - leave the ring and rush straight to the back. Savage jumps onto the roof of Hall and Nash's limousine in an attempt to get to them. Wrestlers and medical staff alike check on all those hurt. Rey Mysterio Jr. tells his Cruiserweight Division contemporaries that there were four men involved and not three, and Woman finds out that The Enforcer was attacked with a baseball bat. Rey Mysterio Jr.'s mask is removed after he is placed on a stretcher, and Rey puts his hands over his face as he is placed in the ambulance. Everyone else is placed on a stretcher. Meng nearly picks a fight with Chris Benoit, but Jimmy Hart defuses the situation. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan refuses to do the broadcast unless he can be guaranteed he cannot be hurt due to his previous neck surgery and nerve ending damage. Eric Bischoff tells Heenan to do what he feels is right, as he refuses to argue with him on this point, and Heenan leaves. Tony Schiavone and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko stay with Bischoff for the commentary for the second hour. The American Males are supposed to be out for the next match, but due to The Outsiders, they are incapacitated. The crowd chants "boring" briefly, and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson is placed in an ambulance. Ric Flair and Woman tag along with Anderson. Bagwell is placed in the same ambulance as Anderson, and Sting tags along with him.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat High Voltage (Robbie Rage and Kenny Kaos), who substitute for The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs). Before and during the match, Rick is seen watching his own back and is shaken by what happened backstage, paying attention to the outside of the ring in case of a sneak attack.

Eddie Guerrero beats Big Bubba, who replaces Rey Mysterio Jr. in what was supposed to be a match for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship when Jimmy Hart tossing his microphone to Big Bubba to use as a weapon backfires.

We see an announcement from The New World Order (Hulk Hogan, Hall, Nash). They say that the New World Order is invitation-only, and that there's no stopping their takeover of World Championship Wrestling. If anyone has any problems with them, they can fight them, but they are going down. As for who's the next to join the New World Order, there's no telling. They also say that WCW guys like Sting and Lex Luger are soft from living in "Billionaire Ted's country club" while they have had to fight, scratch and claw for everything they've got, and now they want WCW. Hulk Hogan then reminds everyone that he's facing The Giant for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on August 10th, and that he finds it ironic that the WCW would be so weak to beg and plead to The Giant that he's their only chance of survival. At Hog Wild, The Outsiders become the insiders. Hall then says he and Nash will take care of a little grudge match, and tells Sting and Lex Luger to bring it at Hog Wild. Hulk then says that The Giant will crumble and fall at his feet while Hall and Nash crush the top guys in WCW.

It is announced that Eric Bischoff has left the commentary table for the remainder of the hour, having taken off for the hospital to check on those injured by The Outsiders (Hall and Nash).

The Giant retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Giant, who mocks Hogan to explain how he conned a nation. He says he got everyone to believe him, but he didn't believe himself, and he started the New World Order because he couldn't be the big fish in WCW. As he defended the title with honor, Hulk was out making movies. He says if WCW doesn't hang together, we will all hang separately, and he tells Hogan he has a chokeslam noose that will fight around his neck. Jimmy Hart promises that The Giant will take him out at Hog Wild.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 29, 1996

It is announced at the top of the show that Ahmed Johnson has been sidelined with a ruptured kidney as a result of the attack from the mystery man from last night's main event.

We find out that the mystery man from last week is Faarooq Asaad, "a modern day gladiator." Sunny said she had a surprise for Ahmed Johnson, and it came in the form of Faarooq. She plans to get Ahmed where it counts and when it counts at SummerSlam for the WWF Intercontinental Championship and make Faarooq "a champion of the '90s." Faarooq says that Ahmed has "a newfound appreciation for women" and that the next time he addresses Sunny, it will be with a Ms. or Mrs. in front of it. He says there are no guidelines or rules on the street, and he plans to remind Ahmed of that at SummerSlam, where he will become fifteen pounds heavier, all of it in gold.

Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match.

We see more footage of Clarence Mason's hearing with WWF President Gorilla Monsoon from last week, and this time, Monsoon is the one asking the questions. After the match, Jim Cornette wants Jose Lothario in the ring so he can speak to him face to face.

Vince McMahon is in the ring with Jim Cornette and Jose Lothario. Cornette tells Lothario he hasn't forgotten what happened at the Free For All eight nights ago, and wants to know how Jose Lothario suddenly popped up in the WWF. He learned that Lothario was a great wrestler in his day, that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels came to Lothario to ask him to train him to be a wrestler, and that Lothario ended up being a father figure to him. While Shawn went all over the world, Lothario stayed in San Antonio "sitting on a back porch with a scrapbook full of memories with nobody caring if he lived or stinkin' died." Cornette knows that Shawn called him up to lead him again, this time to the WWF Championship in WrestleMania 12. Cornette tells Lothario he plans to get even with him by having Vader take the WWF Championship away from Michaels, and Lothario will go back to San Antonio a nobody. He calls Lothario trash, and if HBK learned everything he knows, then HBK is trash too. Lothario grabs Cornette tells him that he will kick his butt like nobody before if he insults his family or Shawn again. He pushes him away, and as he is about to leave, Cornette goes after him with the tennis racket only to get punched in the face again. Cornette then rolls out of the ring. The camera then suddenly cuts to Mankind attacking Shawn Michaels, who has been watching all this from the back, with the Mandible Claw.

We find out that Mankind assaulted "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels as Jose Lothario was going at it with Jim Cornette.

Before the next match, Jerry "The King" Lawler challenges "The Portuguese Man O' War" Aldo Montoya to a rematch on Raw next week after an upset win on Lawler last week on Superstars. We then hear from Aldo Montoya, who accepts Lawler's challenge without hesitation, and says Jake "The Snake" Roberts taught him two things: to believe in himself, and the DDT, which Roberts taught him. Owen Hart then guests on commentary for the next match, and Hillbilly Jim threatens to throw the bucket of slop at him if he gets involved in the next match. It is then announced via news ticker on the bottom of the screen that Sunny will be live in the WWF AOL Auditorium tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern, celebrating her status as the most downloaded celebrity on AOL.

During the match, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is mentioned on commentary again, when Owen Hart is asked when Bret is coming back.

Mark Henry, who put Jerry "The King" Lawler in a gorilla press slam back in March, is seen setting a record with a 903-pound dead lift in footage from a powerlifting meet from last weekend.

In footage recorded after In Your House: International Incident, we see Mankind say that The Undertaker is a very bad man, and that while he can tolerate what he did to him, but not what he did to maternal love. He says that "Mommy" - a blond wig he is holding in his hands - doesn't want Undertaker to hurt her anymore, and what Mommy wants, he shall provide. He says he was supposed to uses his powers to create and not to destroy, but he has no control of his mind anymore. He says The Undertaker will find out that destruction can be beautiful at SummerSlam. All the while, Goldust and Marlena are nearby, and Goldust tries to comfort Mankind while lying on top of some lockers.

Mankind is seen in the boiler room before the next match.

Mankind is seen leaving the boiler room...

After the match, The Undertaker returns tot he ring and hits Stone Cold with the Tombstone Piledriver. Vince McMahon then interviews Paul Bearer and The Undertaker in the ring, and The Undertaker tells Mankind it's time the reaper enters the serpent's lair, and at the Boiler Room Brawl at SummerSlam, Mankind will finally rest in peace.

Anderson says that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who is not here at the moment, loves to make an entrance and will show up right on cue. Mongo says it's been his pleasure to take care of a few pretty boys in WCW, and now is his chance to get at the real pretty boys - "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Sting and Lex Luge - and he can't wait to get at them tonight. Konnan beats V.K. Wallstreet after reversing the Wallstreet Crash into a crucifix pin.

Luger thinks "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is out there in a big fat limo or a catered hotel room, but the three of them are here to make a statement as a lot of things are happening in WCW from all different angles. Everyone else was in Japan while the New World Order was out to play. Sting, and now they want the Horsemen to make a stronger statement. Sting says Hulk Hogan can stick it, and as far as Ric Flair goes, he doesn't care where he is. He just wants one of The Four Horsemen (Flair, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit) in the ring tonight. Savage says he wants Hogan, Flair and The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) here so he can take care of business all in one night.

We see Glacier show off his martial arts moves.

We take a look at The Renegade, Joe Gomez, Jim Powers and "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright and on the beach prior to the next match.

The Dungeon of Doom (Meng, The Barbarian, Hugh Morrus and new recruit Braun the Leprachaun) vs. The Renegade, Joe Gomez, Jim Powers and "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright is precluded by outside events. It is announced after the match begins that there is a disturbance backstage, and we find out that The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) are in the master control room of the production truck, where they hijack the camera room and pan through the crowd as they say that they're looking for somebody. Security is called not long after Hall and Nash are spotted, and are escorted out of the production truck. When the camera returns to the match, Theodore Long shows up and gives a Jim Powers a pep talk, who tells him to get out there and show them what he's made of. When he makes a comeback, however, The Giant shows up and choke slams everyone not in the Dungeon of Doom save for Teddy Long. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Giant and Jimmy Hart after the carnage, and when asked if he accepts Hulk Hogan's challenge for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, he says that he vowed to defend the title whenever and wherever he has to, and says that he's wreaked havoc in WCW and became the cancer nobody could cure while Hogan was making moves, and that at Sturgis, South Dakota, he will choke slam him in the middle of the ring, thereby accepting Hogan's challenge at Hog Wild. Hog Wild is Saturday, August 10th on pay-per-view!

Eddie Guerrero beats Psicosis (whose name is now anglicized to Psychosis).

Even though his music is heard, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is nowhere to be seen when "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael come out for their match along with Woman, Miss Elizabeth and Debra McMichael before the commercial break.

After the commercial break, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson is seen peering into a white limousine. He then heads to the ring and huddles with "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael, effectively taking the place of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage beat The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit) after Randy Savage takes the briefcase away from Woman, Debra McMichael and Miss Elizabeth, getting his money back and using the briefcase as a weapon to hit Benoit from behind while the ref isn't looking to give his team the win.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Sting says that last week, Luger was feeling beat down, but now he's back and getting ready for Hog Wild and he himself is feeling rather mean. He tells The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) that Hog Wild will be a really bad day for them. Lex Luger says The Outsiders have been pushing all the wrong button, and if they want to push him, Sting and Savage over the edge, they've done a good job, and if they want them to lose it, he's losing it right now, and he calls them out for the disrespect they've given the business. He's ready to knock teeth down throats. Savage tells Hulk Hogan that at Hog Wild, even though The Giant has committed to defending the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Hogan, he plans to beat Hogan up going down the aisle and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

Sunny and The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) show up with a cake at the start of the show. We find out that it is meant for "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, and when Shawn sees it, it is used as bait for a sneak attack by The Smoking Gunns. However, Billy hears some Sweet Chin Music, and Shawn moves the cake towards Sunny before placing a fingerful of cake on Sunny's face. Sunny tries to dump the cake on her, but Ahmed slams it into her face and Shawn kisses the icing off her face not once, but twice. Shawn and Ahmed vs. The Smoking Gunns is over before the bell could even ring, but Ahmed and Shawn got the jump on Sunny and the Gunns.

Also, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin guests on commentary, and Vince McMahon interviews Jake "The Snake" Roberts via telephone. Roberts says he's done, but certainly not out, and both Stone Cold and Jerry "The King" Lawler make fun of his former drug and drink problems. Roberts says he will come back as soon possible, hopefully in two or three weeks but hopefully sooner. After Stone Cold makes fun of the Lex Express and presents the idea of doing his own version where he whips everyone's asses instead of shaking hands and kissing babies, it is announced that Stone Cold has a match against The Undertaker next week, and Stone Cold predicts that he will beat The Undertaker. Also on commentary, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is mentioned, and Steve Austin says that he would beat him if they got in the ring.

He tells Goldust that there are three things he doesn't do: tug on Superman's cape, spit in the wind and mess with Sable. Goldust beats Barry Horowitz.

She says that Shawn and Ahmed will not have their cake and eat it too. Billy Gunn says they brought down the heap, and now they're going to get it in the form of a side of The Smoking Gunns that they won't want to see. Bart Gunn says that Shawn and Ahmed will pay for what they did to Billy and Sunny.

Vince McMahon interviews Vader and Jim Cornette in the ring. Cornette brags about his team (Vader, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog) winning last night at In Your House, specifically Vader winning the match, and says that last night's win is the reason he went to WWF President Gorilla Monsoon and demanded a title shot against "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Cornette then asks Shawn if there was always the one kid who hid behind a tree and bullied him, and says that kid is now grown up and out there in the form of Vader. Cornette says Vader will grab him and shake him for change before taking the WWF Championship from him at SummerSlam, and that there is nobody who can whip Vader as he is the baddest man walking. He says that Michaels will walk into SummerSlam and enter the biggest nightmare of his life before losing the WWF Championship to him.

Lothario tells Cornette he'll knock him out again if the situation calls for it, and that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson and Sycho Sid don't need his help to win. Haing disappeared before "The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero, The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) return to Disney-MGM Studios in a limousine.

The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) show up when the ref is distracted with Jimmy Hart trying to toss a foreign object to Lex Luger in his match against Big Bubba. Hall and Nash attack Luger - back from a concussion and a nearly detached retina - and Hulk Hogan joins in not longer after, wearing all black in his first appearance since Bash at the Beach. Luger and Big Bubba are laid out by The Outsiders, and while Luger is rolled out of the ring, Hogan shakes Big Bubba's hand before Hall and Nash turn on Bubba before they too toss him out of the ring. "Mean" Gene Okerlund shows up and interviews Hogan and The Outsiders, and Hogan says he wishes he had done this two years ago, as The New World Order is taking over professional wrestling, as he considers himself bigger than the sport itself and The Outsiders will rule it with him. He also doesn't care if the fans are disgusted with him, telling them to stick it again. As for as people like Sting go, Hogan says Sting was a skinny little bodybuilder when he shook his hand ten years ago, and he also says he was sick and tired of "Macho Man" Randy Savage's crying, blaming Hogan for his divorce from Miss Elizabeth. People toss trash into the ring as Hogan says he made professional wrestling and that he will always be bigger than the sport, and Hogan says the New World Order will rule the wrestling world. He says Hall and Nash who will set the trend for the 1990s and send professional wrestling to its destiny, but says that Hall and Nash are just the foundation, and Hogan lays down the question of whether or not other potential members will be other outsiders or people who have been loyal to WCW and to Hogan himself, as wherever he goes, professional wrestling goes. He then says he's done with the kids for not wanting to go down the same path as him anymore. He says he won't deal with Macho Man or Sting anymore, as he's headed to the top of the ladder and he's going to dismantle the Ted Turner organization all in one night, beat The Giant, turn the WCW World Heavyweight Championship into the nWo World Heavyweight Championship and reign supreme from that day forward. He says if Ted Turner has any boys in the back with any guts at all, he can send them in, as they'll beat up everyone in WCW right now. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner), The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson show up and surround the ring.

Jim Cornette says his camp hasn't caused any trouble so far tonight, and that they're here to talk about next Sunday. He says that both sides have fired shots with The Ultimate Warrior being taken out and being replaced with Sycho Sid. They plan to come at "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Ahmed Johnson and that they have something up their sleeve for Sid.

We take a look at The Undertaker.

After the match, Jim Cornette tosses coffee into Shawn's face, and he and Ahmed chase Cornette into the parking lot only to run into Owen Hart, The British Bulldog and Vader in the parking lot. Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 8, 1996

WWF President Gorilla Monsoon announces with great reluctance the indefinite suspension of The Ultimate Warrior, a direct result of his failure to appear as advertised last weekend in Indianapolis, Detroit and Pittsburgh. This suspension will be immediately lifted as soon as The Warrior posts an appearance bond to ensure WWF fans that he will appear where advertised. He is here tonight, as promised, and will wrestle Owen Hart. WWF is hopeful he will post the bond and return to action in the WWF. Despite his popularity, no one wrestler is above answering to the WWF fans. (This suspension proves indefinite, however, as in reality The Ultimate Warrior was fired for reportedly no-showing several house shows due to the death of his father. Despite Vince McMahon hoping on the air that this is not the last time we see Warrior, Warrior would not appear in the ring again until the Raw show after WrestleMania 30, almost 18 years later, which just so happened to be the night before he passed away.)

The Ultimate Warrior beats Owen Hart by disqualification after The British Bulldog attempts to interfere and fails. After the match, Vader gets in the ring, and The Ultimate Warrior falls victim to the numbers game. Officials have to stop Camp Cornette from attacking Warrior further, but Owen Hart nails Warrior with his cast and Vader scares all the officials away with Jim Cornette's tennis racket before Cornette takes the racket and whacks Warrior with it prior to a Vader Bomb. During the match, Vince McMahon interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Ahmed Johnson. When asked who their partner will be against Camp Cornette (Vader, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog) at In Your House: International Incident, Shawn says they have secured their third man and that he will be here shortly. Ahmed says their third man has to be able to hold his own, and that we will learn his identity in a few minutes.

After the commercial break, we see officials carrying The Ultimate Warrior to the back. We then segue back to "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Ahmed Johnson. Shawn says he's had his differences with him like he's had his differences with a lot of other people, but he'll be here shortly. Ahmed says he won't be walked over like The Ultimate Warrior.

Before the next match, Brian Pillman, ever the loose cannon, threatens to attack Savio Vega with one of his crutches.

The WWF Attitude Adjustment tour heads to Albany, New York; Worcester, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; Bangor, Maine; and Vancouver, British Columbia!

Savio Vega beats Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw. During the match, Vince McMahon interviews Mr. Perfect via telephone, but they lose him during the break as he is calling from a cellular phone. After the match, Savio Vega catches Uncle Zebekiah with his branding iron but is attacked from behind by Bradshaw before being hit with a cowbell. Uncle Zebekiah then brands Vega.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels says his and Ahmed Johnson's third man will be here momentarily. Next week, Shawn and Ahmed put their respective titles on the line against Billy Gunn and Bart Gunn, respectively. Shawn says Billy will "get a rompin' and a stompin'," while Ahmed says that "Filly and Fart are very good" while telling Sunny to stay in the hood.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, The Undertaker, Paul Bearer and Sunny welcomed the fans at Continental Airlines Arena at The Meadowlands, New Jersey this past Friday. Hunter Hearst Helmsley and The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) can be seen signing autographs. WWF also welcomed thefans outside of the New Haven Coliseum at New Haven, Connecticut this past Saturday.

Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match.

Vader and The British Bulldog beat The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn).

On Option 6 of the WWF Superstar Line: Speculation on the alleged love triangle between Goldust, Marlena and Sable...but where does Mankind fit in?

Jim Cornette isn't concerned about who "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels' and Ahmed Johnson's new partner is, saying nobody would step in to replace The Ultimate Warrior after what his men did to him. Unfortunately for Cornette, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Ahmed Johnson reveal that their partner is none other than Sycho Sid, who hasn't been seen in months. Sid says he can hear Cornette and his men scream for help only to find there is no one there. Cornette is furious upon learning and threatens to call Clarence Mason to get this dealt with.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for July 8, 1996

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Dean Malenko to win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship after Dean Malenko voluntarily breaks the pinfall on Mysterio twice. During the match, Tony Schiavone apologizes for some of the statement he made last night after Hulk Hogan joined The Outsiders (Hall and Nash).

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) and The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner). Scott Steiner can't believe how Harlem Heat took the tag team titles back, but if they have to beat The Nasty Boys to get them, so be it. Scott says that he may not like how The Nasty Boys look or act, but he respects their wrestling ability. Jerry Sags all he and Knobbs care about is winning tonight. Rick Steiner, on the other hand, says the ring is gonna be a dog pound. Knobbs says that their match will be one hell of a match.

The encore of Bash at the Beach is tomorrow night, and airs 5-8 PM Eastern on Viewer's Choice and 8-11 PM Eastern on Request One.

The Blue Bloods ("Lord" Steven Regal and "Squire" David Taylor) beat The Dungeon of Doom (Hugh Morrus and Big Bubba) after John Tenta shows up and fights Big Bubba outside the ring, taking the fight to the back, all while "Earl" Robert Eaton distracts the referee.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The Dungeon of Doom in an eight-man tag match! "Macho Man" Randy Savage! The Horsemen in a six-man tag match! Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Flyboy Rocco Rock) vs. Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray)!

During the match, we see Rey Mysterio Jr. backstage, saying he is disappointed in who the third man was at Bash at the Beach, saying about Hulk Hogan: "He betrayed us."

Eddie Guerrero beats Psychosis in the latter's Nitro debut.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart, The Taskmaster and The Giant. Jimmy Hart says that Hulk's betrayal of WCW is the first time he's been at a loss for words. The Taskmaster says that he and Jimmy Hart lived for the demise and destruction of Hulkamania, but Hulk plucked it from them and destroyed it himself, and now all the karma that he had done in his life has come back upon him. He says that every time he looks in the mirror, he sees "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and he sees a madman. Jimmy Hart says there is a new world order coming, and even Okerlund might be out of a job. The Giant says that as long as he has the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, nothing can go wrong in WCW, especially when he won it from Hogan the first time. As for the Four Horsemen, they won the battle last night, but not the war. He also celebrates the fact that he doesn't even have to wrestle tonight.

Fireworks go off to signal the beginning of the second hour.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) after Col. Robert Parker and Sister Sherri show up and distract the referee so Parker can hit Jerry Sags with his cane. More fireworks can be seen after the match. Eric Bischoff apologizes for not calling the main event last night. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Nasty Boys. Sags says that life, as in wrestling, has always been about attiude and theirs has always been nasty. He says Col. Robert Parker sent a lightning bolt through his head with his cane with a message saying that change is inevitable, and that it will be a cold day in hell before something like what happened to him ever happens again. Brian Knobbs says Hulk Hogan's betrayal in WCW was shocking even to them, but he sees nothing wrong in it either, as the "New World Order" do whatever they want when they want like they used to do.

Ric Flair retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Jim Powers with the Figure Four Leg Lock after Woman gives him some leverage. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Steve "Mongo" McMichael show up to celebrate with Flair after the match. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Anderson, Mongo, Flair, Woman, Debra McMichael and Miss Elizabeth. Anderson says there were a lot of highs and a lot of lows for them last night, and things didn't go exactly as planned, but he says what happened at the end of Bash at the Beach made him want to puke. He says that The Four Horsemen were never role models and never tried to be role models, but Hulk Hogan was, and the lives of some people hinged on what he said. He tells Hogan he should stand for something instead of leaving like a thief in the night, and now his fans's hearts that he stamped and stomped on will rise up and bite him back. Mongo says the apocalypse is on WCW, and it doesn't have anything to do with anyone else but them. Flair tells The Outsiders (Nash and Hall) and "insiders" that until they can heal the sick, raise the dead and drive little girls right out of their head, there's a new champion in town.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman with the Crippler Crossface after Theodore Long throws in the towel for Pittman. (Pittman substitutes for Lex Luger for this match, as Luger could not make it to injuries received last night at Bash at the Beach._

Sting beats "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson with the Scorpion Death Lock. During the match, it is announced that there may be "guests" on the show, and a black limousine reportedly pulls up. The Outsiders (Nash and Hall) come out of the limo and head to the arena, where they are confronted by security. "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up and is ready to take them on, and when Sting is distracted, Anderson goes for the DDT only for Sting to respond with a Scorpion Death Lock, making Anderson tap out. Savage tries to get past security to get a piece of Hall and Nash, but he is unsuccessful and The Outsiders are escorted out of the arena. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting and Savage after the match. Sting says he is not all surprised about Hall and Nash, but he is very surprised at Hulk Hogan. He says he should have known when Hulk traveled in the limo to every town instead of travelling with them and walking on the dark side, referring to him, Savage and Lex Luger as "three little dogs" waiting for the chance to wrestle him. Sting says he made a mistake, but Hulk Hogan made a bigger mistake by trashing everyone who trusted him and every word that he said. He tells Hulk Hogan it was a good thing he told all of his fans to believe in themselves, as they certainly can't believe him now. He then tells Hogan that he should be the one to "stick it." Savage says that what he wants to say and do to "Hollywood Hogan" can't be uttered on television, especially at Disney MGM Studios, but tells him to take the worst thing he can think about and multiply it by nine million and multiply it by infinity and beyond and it'd be one grain of sand in the Sahara desert, as it's going to be scary what he is going to say and do to Hogan.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) in front of the limousine. Nash says that WCW and the fans took a beating last night because Hulk Hogan told them how it was, as he built professional wrestling and the fans can't appreciate it even though he and Hall can. He announces that Hulk Hogan will be here next week, and they'll see what WCW will put against them. Hall says that this portion of WCW Monday Nitro is brought to you by The Outsiders and Hulk Hogan. He said they'd do it, and they delivered. He said they'd beat them, and they did. They're still The Outsider, they get to crash the party, and WCW should be begging them to come through the door. When "Mean" Gene Okerlund asks about the talk of him not having a job, Hall tells him he has a job with the New World Order. Nash says that Hogan is on the set of another movie tonight, and Hall says that Savage is jealous of Hogan right now and that Lex Luger fainted when he saw them.

We see a recap of what happened in the main event of Bash at the Beach to close the show.

Bash at the Beach 1996 - The Results

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Psychosis after reversing a Niagara Diver from the top rope into a Frankensteiner. During the match, it is mentioned that Eric Bischoff has not made it to the building yet.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Konnan. Konnan says that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair has reason to be overly confident because he's done it all, but he's overcautious because Flair has an entourage and he hasn't been here long enough to forge any alliances. He promises to take on anyone that interferes in the match and return home to Mexico with the United States title.

John Tenta beats Big Bubba in a Carson City Silver Dollar Match after Jimmy Hart gets the sock full of silver dollars for Big Bubba only to run right into Tenta, who takes the sock from him and nails Big Bubba with it. Tenta places silver dollars on top of the eyes of Big Bubba after the match, and Big Bubba is mad as soon as he comes to.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage doesn't care who the third man is, and says the third man is going to get hurt just like Diesel and Razor Ramon. Luger says he, Sting and Savage are prepared regardless of who the third man is, and says it is a privilege to be chosen as part of this team, then says that actions speak louder than words. Sting says the unknown gives him a dry mouth, makes him a nervous wreck, sends shivers down his spine and gives him goosebumps, and luckily for him, it does the same to Luger and Savage.

Diamond Dallas Page beats "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan in a Taped Fist Match after kicking the rope into Duggan's crotch prior to the Diamond Cutter to retain the Lord of the Ring ring and moniker. After the match, Duggan gets up, tapes his fist, and gives DDP what for.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart, The Taskmaster and The Giant. The Taskmaster doesn't care how many of the Horsemen gang up on him, they're still on his home turf. The Giant considers the Taskmaster the backbone of the Dungeon of Doom, not the weakest link, and says he is the elite, not The Four Horsemen, and says that they're having horse stew later on. Jimmy Hart can't wait to see who wins.

Lee Marshall interviews "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson. Anderson tells Diesel and Razor Ramon that they will find a rough road with Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage and that they don't have an idea who they're taking on. Anderson tells them that if they can survive Sting, Luger and Savage, then maybe they can take a shot at them. He then says he can't wait for Jimmy Hart and The Giant to be chopped down to size. Neither can Benoit, who says The Horsemen have tolerated The Dungeon of Doom for far too long and finish what they started. He plans to leave The Taskmaster for dead and says The Giant have laid out an opportunity to take the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from him.

The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) in a Dog Collar Match, then both teams continue to fight each other even after everyone is unchained from one another.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund says that Diesel and Razor Ramon are backstage, and that if they are to touch him right now, there would be legal repercussions. He has been trying to get a word from them, but has been unsuccessful. He says that tonight is history in the making.

Before the next match, Disco Inferno says that everyone is welcome to his disco dance party after he beats Dean Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Disco Inferno with the Texas Cloverleaf.

Steve "Mongo" McMichael beats Joe Gomez.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Miss Elizabeth and Woman. Flair says you can never have enough trophies in life, and says The Four Horsemen will be taking the United States and World Heavyweight gold. Flair says Konnan may have a thousand holds, but he will be meeting a man with unlimited knowledge in the ring. Miss Elizabeth says there will be "a great big party" afterwards, and Woman says she'd like to have a "private party" with Okerlund. Flair tells "Macho Man" Randy Savage he knows he has his focus elsewhere, but tells him that Miss Elizabeth will never come back to him.

The Nature Boy" Ric Flair beats Konnan to win the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Flair uses the ropes after Miss Elizabeth distracts the ref so Woman can use one of her heels as a weapon.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is at the doors to a restricted area. Behind the doors are Diesel, Razor Ramon and the third man. Okerlund says the third man sounds familiar, but the voice is muffled and can't seem to make out who this third man is, but the voice sounds very familiar in his sub-conscience. Also, Eric Bischoff still hasn't made it to the venue yet.

The Taskmaster and The Giant attack "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson before the match begins. Steve "Mongo" McMichael hits The Giant in the back with the briefcase, and gets The Giant to chase him to the back. This leaves Anderson and Benoit free to focus solely on The Taskmaster, but that doesn't last for long as Jimmy Hart brings The Giant back to the ring.

The Dungeon of Doom (The Giant and The Taskmaster) beat The Four Horsemen ("The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) after The Giant hits Anderson with a choke slam while Benoit and The Taskmaster fight near the broadcast booth. After the match, Benoit and The Taskmaster keep on fighting. Woman shows up and tells Benoit to stop hurting The Taskmaster for some reason. The Giant shows up and chases Benoit and Woman out of the ring, then helps The Taskmaster to the back.

We see a video package that recaps all of the events leading up to tonight's main event.

The Outsiders - as Diesel and Razor Ramon are referred to for this match - arrive for the main event without their third man. Suddenly, "Mean" Gene Okerlund shows up and confronts Diesel and Razor, asking where the third man is. Razor tells Okerlund he knows too much already, and just tells him that the third man is here and he's ready. Diesel confirms that the third man is in the building, and says that they are capable of handling their opponents.

During the main event, Lex Luger is knocked out cold after Sting accidentally hits Luger with the Stinger Splash simultaneously with Diesel and has to be removed from the ring on a stretcher. Luger has to be hurried to the back before Diesel and Razor Ramon can do any more damage to him. It is revealed by commentary that Razor Ramon goes by "Hall" and Diesel by "Nash." (They will be referred to as "Hall" and "Nash" for the remainder of this blog entry and in the future.)

The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) get the upper hand on Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. After Nash hits Savage with a low blow. Hulk Hogan makes a surprise appearance. He gets in the ring, then hits Savage with a leg drop, revealing himself as the third man. The referee is tossed out, then Hogan hits a second leg drop on Savage. Nash, Hall and Hogan celebrate as Sting helps Savage to the back, and fans throw trash into the ring. "Mean" Gene Okerlund gets in the ring and interviews the threesome, starting with Hogan, and asks Hogan what in the world he is thinking. Hogan tells Okerlund to tell the crowd to shut up if they want to hear what he has to say. Okerlund is ashamed of what Hogan has just done, and says Hogan has to be crazy to join Hall and Nash. He calls himself, Nash and Hall the future of wrestling and says we can call them "The New World Order of wrestling." Hulk says they just came from a big wrestling company up north (an obvious reference to WWF) and everyone was wondering who the third man was, then asks who knows more about "that organization" better than him. Okerlund says he's been there and done that, and says Hogan has made a bad decision. Hogan says he has made "that organization" a monster, and made people rich up there, and made the people who ran that organization rich up there, and when all came to pass, his name got bigger than the organization. Then, "Billionaire Ted" "talked turkey" with him and promised him movies, millions of dollars and world caliber matches, and as far as he, Eric Bischoff and WCW goes, he's bored. He calls Nash and Hall the men he wants as his friends and the new blood of professional wrestling. They plan to not only take over the whole wrestling business, but destroy everything in their path. Okerlund then analogizes all the trash in the ring to his very near future, but Hogan says the trash in the ring represents all the fans. He says that for two years, he held his head high and did everything for the kids and the charities, and tells the fans that, due to their reception, they can stick it , as if it wasn't for him, the fans wouldn't be here, Eric Bischoff would still be selling meat form a truck in Minneapolis, and that wrestling and "all the Johnny-come-latelys" wouldn't be here. He says he was selling out the world while everyone else was bumming gas to put in their car to get to high school. With him, Nash and Hall as a force, he asks "Whatcha gonna do when the New World Organization runs wild on you?" Tony Schiavone tells us we have seen the end of Hulkamania. As the show comes to a close, Schiavone tells Hogan that he can go to Hell.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for July 1, 1996

Before the show begins, Diamond Dallas Page shows up and says that the Lord of the Rings ring has been stolen, and that he wants the arena closed and everyone strip searched until the ring is found.

The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) are seen in the VIP section along with Debra McMichael, Woman and Miss Elizabeth during the next match. Also, Col. Robert Parker shows up at ringside in Harlem Heat's corner during the match.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) after Col. Robert Parker hits Rick Steiner off the top rope with his cane to stop a double team attempt.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) along with Debra McMichael, Woman and Miss Elizabeth in the VIP lounge. We learn that The Four Horsemen will be taking on Joe Gomez, The Renegade and The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson). Debra says that Mongo is one of the best athletes ever to compete, and hopes that he makes more money in WCW than he ever did in the NFL. Miss Elizabeth says there's plenty of money to go around, and Woman asks Miss Elizabeth to hire a full-time driver. Anderson says what while we may not see the Supreme Court in the VIP lounge, they still run the wrestling world, and for the first time since the mid-1980s, they're at full strength. Benoit calls himself "silent but violent." Mongo says he's happy to be a Horseman, and says that "money makes the monkey dance." Flair, upon hearing that "Macho Man" Randy Savage is in the building and restrained before his match, mocks Savage. and asks him what he's going to do now.

Before the next match, Disco Inferno says he knows everyone wants to see him dance, and asks the crowd if they want to see him dance. As he is about to dance, however, Kurasawa shows up.

Disco Inferno beats Kurasawa after Disco's music plays, a guy in an Elvis Presley jumpsuit shows up and dance, and the disco ball drops down so he can smack a distracted Kurasawa in the back with it while the referee is distracted by the guy in the jumpsuit.

In a pre-recorded message, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan tells Diamond Dallas Page to stop worrying about his Lord of the Ring ring (as the only things he carries are a 2x4 and a roll of tape) and to start worrying about him.

Diamond Dallas Page shakes down a few members of WCW crew before the next match.

Diamond Dallas Page beats Scotty Riggs. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Page, and Page dares "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan to tape up his body at Bash At The Beach as he will lay him out with a Diamond Cutter. He also shakes down Okerlund to look for his Lord of the Ring ring, but doesn't find it.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage wrecks the VIP lounge before the next match.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, then pyro signals the start of the second hour - which brings the return of a recovered Eric Bischoff to commentary.

Eric Bischoff says he's glad to be back, and thanks the WCW fans for their letters and support. He then tells Diesel (whom he calls "Nash") that he didn't impress anybody and that Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage aren't afraid of him. He tells Diesel that he didn't scare anybody, and he can't wait for him to receive his comeuppance on Sunday night. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan notices Diesel and Razor Ramon showing up with popcorn and soda from the concession stand, and when told to leave, they reveal that they have bought tickets for the show and are left alone.

The Giant retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against John Tenta after Tenta fights off both Jimmy Hart and The Taskmaster. After the match, Big Bubba, who shows up just before the ned of the match, shaves half of Tenta's facial hair off. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart, The Taskmaster, The Giant and Big Bubba. Hart says that this is just an example of what will happen to "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson at Bash at the Beach. Big Bubba mocks Tenta, and challenges him to a sock on a pole match, and whoever gets the sock full of nickels will be the first to use it. The Giant tells Tenta that leaving The Dungeon of Doom was his first mistake, and he made him pay for that mistake. He also says that The Four Horsemen are jealous, and that all four of them will leave Bash at the Beach in pieces. The Taskmaster tells Benoit and ANderson that he remembers what happened to him in Baltimore when they fought all over the building, then The Giant tells Benoit that the fire burning in The Taskmaster's soul is something he can't stand the heat of as all four men leave while John Tenta gets back on his feet and heads towards the back.

This Saturday on Saturday Night: The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) vs. The Rock 'n Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson)! Diamond Dallas Page! Chris Benoit vs. Cobra! Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage in six-man tag action!

We see a video package of Rey Mysterio Jr. The video package is cut short when Diesel and Razor Ramon get a hold of a mike and make fun of Eric Bischoff. Security quickly move into place as Razor Ramon and Diesel are escorted away, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage tries to get a piece of both men. Diamond Dallas, Big Bubba, The Taskmaster, Rick Steiner and Jimmy Hart also show up for the proceedings. Diesel and Razor are escorted out of the building, and after a minute or two, Savage tries to go after them only to be stopped by security.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan...who has just found Diamond Dallas Page's ring in the men's room and will bring it back to DDP if he wants it.
