Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 11, 1997
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up to start tonight's show. It is announced that Shawn will take on Mankind tonight, and Shawn gets everyone up to speed on what's been happening. Shawn says he had a job to do at SummerSlam, and he did it. If WWF doesn't want to step up and take responsibility for what happened and wants to throw it in his lap instead, he's not worried as he's had plenty in his lap before. He says either you're with him or against him. As for Mankind, he had to find out while he was sitting at home watching Superstars because Vince McMahon didn't tell him over the phone. The crowd chants "Shawn is gay," and Shawn responds by asking "Why don't you ask your sister and your mama how gay Shawn is?" He then tells Mankind he'll see him in a few, then invites The Undertaker to watch him smack Mankind around, and if he can beat Mankind, he can beat him. He then says WWF officials have put him on his private hit list, and have the new Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter calling the shot. He tells Slaughter that if he can stick his chin in his business, he's got another thing coming as nobody steals the spotlight and he wants it all. The crowd then chants that Shawn is gay again. Slaughter shows up and tells Shawn that he's listened to what he has to say, and says he's right about him not wanting his chin in his business, but he's going to put it there anyway. He says he's been in the spotlight so many times Shawn couldn't count them all, then tells Shawn that if he thinks he's here to play games, he's wrong. Anything he says, does or decides is for the betterment of the World Wrestling Federation, not Shawn Michaels. As far as Shawn's match with Mankind is concerned, it's time for Shawn to put up or shut up. Shawn tells him that his life is in danger in the WWF, and that he's got a big insurance policy.
We hear from fans who they think will win between "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Mankind.
Road Warrior Hawk gets ready for his Country Whippin' Match against Henry O. Godwinn backstage.

Before the next match, Henry O. Godwinn explains the Country Whippin' Match: two men have a leather strap and both men whip each other until one man can take no more. Henry O. says that this is the way matters are settled back home and that he will whip the hide off of Road Warrior Hawk's back.

Road Warrior Hawk beats Henry O. Godwinn in a Country Whippin' Match after Phineas I. Godwinn and Road Warrior Animal get involved and Animal sends both Godwinns out of the ring with the Godwinns' slop bucket. During the match, Owen Hart and The British Bulldog argue over which of them will challenge The Patriot to a match.

After the match, Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter tells Goldust and Marlena to leave, which they do.
The Undertaker tells "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels he will watch his match against Mankind, then tells him that no insurance policy will be necessary at Ground Zero except burial insurance.
Goldust talks about his life and his relationship with his father Dusty Rhodes in the newest issue of Raw Magazine, on newsstands tomorrow.
Flash Funk beats Brian Pillman with an inside cradle when Goldust and Marlena show up and distract Pillman with the "golden handicam" footage of Pillman changing into the dress. During the match, it is announced that Extreme Championship Wrestling's Hardcore Heaven event will air on pay-per-view Sunday night. Also, Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter announces that both Owen Hart and The British Bulldog will both take on The Patriot and a partner of The Patriot's choosing later tonight on War Zone, and that The Patriot's partner will not be announced until the match starts.
We see footage of fans chanting for Dude Love from earlier today.
Vince McMahon interviews Dude Love. We see two of Dude Love's groupies in the front row. Dude Love feels that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be coming back soon. As for who might win between Mankind and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, he knows both men and if he had to take a guess, he would say Mankind would rock and roll all over Shawn with the Mandible Claw. Shawn appears on the TitanTron, wishing someone would knock Dude Love out so hard he wakes up in the 21st century, and tells him he's not The Heartbreak Kid or himself, for that matter. He says Mankind will see his new insurance policy live and in living color, and he's sticking his foot down Mankind's throat with some Sweet Chin Music. Dude Love quotes John Lennon "I am we, and you are we, and we are all together," and that Mankind will tear Shawn up. Dude Love then parties in the ring with the two groupies.

The Patriot talks to his mystery partner backstage, saying that it's time to take care of business tonight.

The Patriot's partner is revealed to be "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock.
The Patriot and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beat Owen Hart and The British Bulldog. During the match, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, who is initially seen watching the match from backstage, shows up to watch the match from the stage. When Bret tries to walk down the entrance ramp, Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter shows up and stops Bret, distracting Shamrock and the referee and allowing Owen Hart to place a steel chair in the ring. This, however, backfires when Shamrock catches Owen sneaking up on him and The Patrio slams The British Bulldog into the steel chair.
On the WWF Superstar Line, option 3 has news on why Ahmed Johnson was booted from The Nation of Domination as well as the future of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
We see footage of Bret "The Hit Man" Hart saying that he is proud to be Canadian right now and that Americans are going to have a harder time accepting that the WWF Champion is not American. We then see footage from Toronto Peason International Airport from last Tuesday where the Canadian fans show their support for Bret as 15,000 fans showed up to see Bret come back from SummerSlam. Bret says that he will carry the WWF Championship with honor for his fans all over the rest of the world.

The Patriot is here to prove his success in the WWF is no fluke, and says Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is not untouchable. He is suddenly attacked with a steel chair by Bret, and referees have to get Bret away from The Patriot.
Faarooq beats Chainz after referee Jack Doan is accidentally knocked down. Suddenly, Rocky Maivia shows up, checks on the referee and suddenly attacks Chainz. Before the match, it is announced that the rest of The Nation of Domination and The Disciples of Apocalypse have all been banned from ringside for the match. During the match, it is announced that Ahmed Johnson has re-injured his knee. After the match, Rocky Maivia reveals that he has joined The Nation of Domination when he raises his fist along with Faarooq.
Rocky Maivia is seen with The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa) backstage, and the cameraman is kicked out of The Nation of Domination's locker room. Suddenly, The Disciples of Apocalypse (Crush, Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz) try to break into the room.
Sable shows up to be the guest ring announcer for the next match, but that match doesn't happen as The Patriot shows up, grabs the microphone and says he can take any man, one-on-one, face to face, and won't back down from anybody. He tells Bret "The Hit Man" Hart that if he wants to prove he's the man and champ he says he is, then they don't have to wait until September, and that they can do it right now. Bret shows up, Canadian flag in hand, and both Bret and The Patriot brawl. The rest of The Hart Foundation (Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Brian Pillman) show up and gang up on The Patriot, and referees get into the ring before Bret can lock the Sharpshooter onto The Patriot. As The Foundation covers The Patriot with the Canadian flag, Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter shows up to try to restore order.
Mankind tells "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels that he hopes the insurance policy he talks about is life insurance, because when he thinks about him he gets a lump in his throat from emotion. He then says Shawn will have a lump in his throat, too, but instead of emotion, it will be his liver.
We see another vignette for Brakus.
Mankind shows up before the next match with a trash can and tosses it into the ring. It ends up being used as a weapon quickly by "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, which referee Earl Hebner somehow allows. Mankind - now with the garbage bag over his head and shoulders like a poncho - gets the Mandible Claw on Shawn, but Shawn hits him with a low blow.

We later see the man in the suit from earlier, who is now walking down the ramp: "Ravishing" Rick Rude, straight out of Extreme Championship Wrestling. As Chyna distracts the referee, Rick Rude hits Mankind in the head with a steel chair and Shawn hits the Sweet Chin Music for the win. After the match, The Undertaker makes his presence known as Chyna, Rick Rude and Hunter Hearst Helmsley all get on the apron. Paul Bearer is seen on the TitanTron, telling him that his brother Kane is coming and that he will burn in Hell. The last thing we see before the show ends is fire.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for June 14, 1997
Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart beats "Double J" Jesse James. During the match, Brian Pillman shows up late, throwing Jesse James into the ring before heading to the commentary table. He also tosses water into Jesse James' face during the match, and does it again after the match before tossing the bottle at referee Tim White.
Vince McMahon interviews Ahmed Johnson. Ahmed says he loves The Undertaker just as much as the fans do, but all he wants from The Undertaker is to wake up and come back to reality in regards to Paul Bearer. As far as the new Nation of Domination goes, he used to run with a gang, and if they want a gang fight, he is the man they can take it to. If The Undertaker comes out as himself, that is fine, but if he wants to listen to Paul Bearer, he will do whatever he has to do for his people, and if that means hitting The Undertaker with the Pearl River Plunge, he will do that. The Undertaker shows up with Paul Bearer. Paul Bearer tells Ahmed to listen to him, as this Monday, he will be in the same boat as The Undertaker and he will do what he tells him to do. He also tells The Undertaker they can do this the easy way or the hard way. Ahmed tells The Undertaker he loves and respects him like a brother, and that he has always been the man and there is nobody like him, but as a brother, if he crosses him, he will stomp his ass. As for Paul Bearer, he is using The Undertaker like a slave, and he will break Paul Bearer's slave mentality on The Undertaker any way he can as he does not play around. Paul Bearer commands The Undertaker to leave the ring with him, but Ahmed begs him not to do it. Ahmed and 'Taker shake hands, then The Undertaker leaves.
We see footage from last weekend at the ECW Arena where Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Mr. Monday Night" Rob Van Dam fought the ECW locker room prior to Paul E. Dangerously's revenge last Monday night.
Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Mr. Monday Night" Rob Van Dam vs. The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) after "The Innovator of Violence" ends when Tommy Dreamer gets into the ring and goes after Rob Van Dam. Paul E. Dangerously is seen at ringside directing traffic, but referees and officials get in the ring and keep everyone away from Dreamer.
Henry O. Godwinn beats Salvatore Sincere in his first match back from his neck injury. Compared to Phineas I. Godwinn, Henry O. Godwinn is not as jovial when he makes his way to the ring, and his wrestling style is more aggressive. After the match, Henry O. Godwinn absolutely refuses to dance with Phineas, and makes it known to him.

We see footage from last weekend at the ECW Arena where Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Mr. Monday Night" Rob Van Dam fought the ECW locker room prior to Paul E. Dangerously's revenge last Monday night.
Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Mr. Monday Night" Rob Van Dam vs. The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) after "The Innovator of Violence" ends when Tommy Dreamer gets into the ring and goes after Rob Van Dam. Paul E. Dangerously is seen at ringside directing traffic, but referees and officials get in the ring and keep everyone away from Dreamer.
Henry O. Godwinn beats Salvatore Sincere in his first match back from his neck injury. Compared to Phineas I. Godwinn, Henry O. Godwinn is not as jovial when he makes his way to the ring, and his wrestling style is more aggressive. After the match, Henry O. Godwinn absolutely refuses to dance with Phineas, and makes it known to him.

Vince's Got A Shotgun - Shotgun Saturday Night recap for March 22, 1997
Blackjack Bradshaw vs. Henry O. Godwinn ends in a no contest. During the match, Doug Furnas and Philip LaFon show up and watch the match from the middle of the ramp. Later on, The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) run out and brawl with Furnas and LaFon outside of the ring, and the match ends when the brawl spills into the ring. Blackjack Windham and Phineas I. Godwinn also get involved, and the scene soon changes into a four-team brawl. Referees have to enter the ring to try to break up the brawl.
Kevin Kelly interviews Owen Hart and The British Bulldog on the stage. Owen shows up, but the Bulldog does not. Owen says he is the very best, the captain and the brains, and says that Bulldog is the brawn as he says that they are tag champs because he is the man and Bulldog listens to him. Owen says that because of that, Vader and Mankind will be losers just like everyone else who tried to take the tag titles from them, as they are the best tag team in the world today. Bulldog suddenly shows up as Owen says he does not want people bringing up what happened between them in Berlin, Germany and says that he would have beaten him if he wanted to, and says that they are a team. Bulldog says everyone knows who won the European title in Berlin, and says Owen gave it his best shot and lost. He says the better man won because he is superior, and that he has carried Owen a long way. He then says that at WrestleMania 13, they will walk both in and out as WWF Tag Team Champions as they are not going to lose the belts because he said so. Owen tells Bulldog to listen to him, because he is the brains. He also says that other people cause the dissension between him and Bulldog, not himself, but Bulldog disagrees and thinks Owen is jealous of him. The show starts with Kevin Kelly interviewing The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) in the audience. Animal says that like the people of Chicago, Illinois, they are from the streets, and they hope will all their might that they will be at WrestleMania. Hawk says you know how it is when you wake up in that dark alley in Chicago after sleeping on your cardboard mattress, and you wake up not because you have an alarm clock, but because a sewer rat is biting your big toe. He says that is what The Legion is all about. They had their psychological profiles checked, and it was not good, never had been and never will be as they like the way they are, and that it is everyone else who has to wrestle them who do not.
The Nation of Domination (Crush and Savio Vega) beat Goldust and Miguel Perez after Crush hits Goldust with a chair and puts Savio Vega on top of Goldust as the referee deals with disorder at ringside. After the match, Miguel Perez grabs a stel chair and nails both Crush and Savio Vega with it, forcing them to retreat.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 29, 1996
It is announced at the top of the show that Ahmed Johnson has been sidelined with a ruptured kidney as a result of the attack from the mystery man from last night's main event.
Sycho Sid beats Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw by disqualification after Bradshaw hits Sid with his cowbell. Uncle Zebekiah joins in on the post-match beatdown, but they both fall victim to a double clothesline and two massive powerbombs.
We find out that the mystery man from last week is Faarooq Asaad, "a modern day gladiator." Sunny said she had a surprise for Ahmed Johnson, and it came in the form of Faarooq. She plans to get Ahmed where it counts and when it counts at SummerSlam for the WWF Intercontinental Championship and make Faarooq "a champion of the '90s." Faarooq says that Ahmed has "a newfound appreciation for women" and that the next time he addresses Sunny, it will be with a Ms. or Mrs. in front of it. He says there are no guidelines or rules on the street, and he plans to remind Ahmed of that at SummerSlam, where he will become fifteen pounds heavier, all of it in gold.

Vader beats "Wildman" Marc Mero after reversing an attack from the top rope into a powerslam.
We see more footage of Clarence Mason's hearing with WWF President Gorilla Monsoon from last week, and this time, Monsoon is the one asking the questions. After the match, Jim Cornette wants Jose Lothario in the ring so he can speak to him face to face.
Vince McMahon is in the ring with Jim Cornette and Jose Lothario. Cornette tells Lothario he hasn't forgotten what happened at the Free For All eight nights ago, and wants to know how Jose Lothario suddenly popped up in the WWF. He learned that Lothario was a great wrestler in his day, that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels came to Lothario to ask him to train him to be a wrestler, and that Lothario ended up being a father figure to him. While Shawn went all over the world, Lothario stayed in San Antonio "sitting on a back porch with a scrapbook full of memories with nobody caring if he lived or stinkin' died." Cornette knows that Shawn called him up to lead him again, this time to the WWF Championship in WrestleMania 12. Cornette tells Lothario he plans to get even with him by having Vader take the WWF Championship away from Michaels, and Lothario will go back to San Antonio a nobody. He calls Lothario trash, and if HBK learned everything he knows, then HBK is trash too. Lothario grabs Cornette tells him that he will kick his butt like nobody before if he insults his family or Shawn again. He pushes him away, and as he is about to leave, Cornette goes after him with the tennis racket only to get punched in the face again. Cornette then rolls out of the ring. The camera then suddenly cuts to Mankind attacking Shawn Michaels, who has been watching all this from the back, with the Mandible Claw.
We find out that Mankind assaulted "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels as Jose Lothario was going at it with Jim Cornette.
Before the next match, Jerry "The King" Lawler challenges "The Portuguese Man O' War" Aldo Montoya to a rematch on Raw next week after an upset win on Lawler last week on Superstars. We then hear from Aldo Montoya, who accepts Lawler's challenge without hesitation, and says Jake "The Snake" Roberts taught him two things: to believe in himself, and the DDT, which Roberts taught him. Owen Hart then guests on commentary for the next match, and Hillbilly Jim threatens to throw the bucket of slop at him if he gets involved in the next match. It is then announced via news ticker on the bottom of the screen that Sunny will be live in the WWF AOL Auditorium tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern, celebrating her status as the most downloaded celebrity on AOL.

Mark Henry, who put Jerry "The King" Lawler in a gorilla press slam back in March, is seen setting a record with a 903-pound dead lift in footage from a powerlifting meet from last weekend.
In footage recorded after In Your House: International Incident, we see Mankind say that The Undertaker is a very bad man, and that while he can tolerate what he did to him, but not what he did to maternal love. He says that "Mommy" - a blond wig he is holding in his hands - doesn't want Undertaker to hurt her anymore, and what Mommy wants, he shall provide. He says he was supposed to uses his powers to create and not to destroy, but he has no control of his mind anymore. He says The Undertaker will find out that destruction can be beautiful at SummerSlam. All the while, Goldust and Marlena are nearby, and Goldust tries to comfort Mankind while lying on top of some lockers.

Vince McMahon then interviews Paul Bearer and The Undertaker in the ring, and The Undertaker tells Mankind it's time the reaper enters the serpent's lair, and at the Boiler Room Brawl at SummerSlam, Mankind will finally rest in peace.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for November 13, 1995
This morning, WWF Interim President Gorilla Monsoon declares Razor Ramon vs. Sycho Sid with special guest referee The 1-2-3 Kid to be a non-title match after some unfortunate confrontations between Razor and The Kid led him to question the impartiality of THe Kid as special guest referee.
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Henry Godwinn - the later now known as Henry O. Godwinn - ends in a rather ingenious way: Godwinn dumps the bucket of slop all over himself, causing Helmsley to retreat due to the smell, only to slip and fall twice on the puddle of slop outside of the ring. The referee almost slips and falls once before Godwinn chases Helmsley to the back.
We see a video package of "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.
Ahmed Johnson beats Jake Steel in his Raw debut.
During the match, we see a message from "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels where he says he can trust Ahmed Johnson and knows that the two of them together will be able to survive. Also, it is announced that Michaels will take on Owen Hart next week.
After the break, Vince McMahon interviews Ahmed Johnson outside of the ring. Ahmed tells Sycho Sid and The British Bulldog not to come to the ring half-steppin', or else he'll break 'em off something proper.

Vince McMahon conducts a special interview with both Diesel and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart via satellite. Diesel has respect for Hart, but he's confident of his abilities and knows he has to defend the WWF Championship. Hart, on the other hand, still can't sit well with how he lost the WWF Championship last time, as well as the fact that neither of them have beaten each other yet and the fact that he never got a rematch for the title. Hart says he also has the utmost respect for Diesel and thinks he's a great wrestler, especially given the fact that he has held the WWF Championship for over a year, buy says that faster guys with technical wrestling skills give Diesel more of a run for his money compared to other big men his size, and thinks that he's picking bigger guys on purpose so guys like him can't get title shot. Diesel says Hart was the first person he challenged, and says that if he wanted to duck a technical guy, Hart would be the last he would duck. Diesel says he'll survive Survivor Series by playing to his strengths and knocking Hart out. Hart is concerned with what a bigger man can do to him, but Hart is still up for the challenge even though Diesel has him well scouted, and plans to outlast Diesel for the title. Diesel says that he's bigger, better and smarter than he was in January. Hart says that dreams still push him to drive for the WWF Championship.

Before the next match, we hear pre-recorded comments from The Undertaker, who says that vengeance will be his at Survivor Series. Once again, 'Taker's face is obscured from view.

Sycho Sid beats Razor Ramon after interference by Dean Douglas and after special guest referee The 1-2-3 Kid pulls Sycho Sid out of the Razor's Edge and allows him to hit the power bomb for a fast count and the win. After the match, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase stuffs a Canadian $5 bill in Razor's mouth and The Kid pulls it out and puts it in his pocket.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Henry Godwinn - the later now known as Henry O. Godwinn - ends in a rather ingenious way: Godwinn dumps the bucket of slop all over himself, causing Helmsley to retreat due to the smell, only to slip and fall twice on the puddle of slop outside of the ring. The referee almost slips and falls once before Godwinn chases Helmsley to the back.
We see a video package of "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.
Ahmed Johnson beats Jake Steel in his Raw debut.
During the match, we see a message from "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels where he says he can trust Ahmed Johnson and knows that the two of them together will be able to survive. Also, it is announced that Michaels will take on Owen Hart next week.
After the break, Vince McMahon interviews Ahmed Johnson outside of the ring. Ahmed tells Sycho Sid and The British Bulldog not to come to the ring half-steppin', or else he'll break 'em off something proper.

Vince McMahon conducts a special interview with both Diesel and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart via satellite. Diesel has respect for Hart, but he's confident of his abilities and knows he has to defend the WWF Championship. Hart, on the other hand, still can't sit well with how he lost the WWF Championship last time, as well as the fact that neither of them have beaten each other yet and the fact that he never got a rematch for the title. Hart says he also has the utmost respect for Diesel and thinks he's a great wrestler, especially given the fact that he has held the WWF Championship for over a year, buy says that faster guys with technical wrestling skills give Diesel more of a run for his money compared to other big men his size, and thinks that he's picking bigger guys on purpose so guys like him can't get title shot. Diesel says Hart was the first person he challenged, and says that if he wanted to duck a technical guy, Hart would be the last he would duck. Diesel says he'll survive Survivor Series by playing to his strengths and knocking Hart out. Hart is concerned with what a bigger man can do to him, but Hart is still up for the challenge even though Diesel has him well scouted, and plans to outlast Diesel for the title. Diesel says that he's bigger, better and smarter than he was in January. Hart says that dreams still push him to drive for the WWF Championship.

Before the next match, we hear pre-recorded comments from The Undertaker, who says that vengeance will be his at Survivor Series. Once again, 'Taker's face is obscured from view.
King Mabel beats Roy Raymond. Jim Ross talks about some of the injuries to some of the Superstars participating in Survivor Series on Option 6 of the WWF Superstar Hotline.
"Bill Clinton" asks everyone to join him this Sunday for Survivor Series.
Sycho Sid beats Razor Ramon after interference by Dean Douglas and after special guest referee The 1-2-3 Kid pulls Sycho Sid out of the Razor's Edge and allows him to hit the power bomb for a fast count and the win. After the match, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase stuffs a Canadian $5 bill in Razor's mouth and The Kid pulls it out and puts it in his pocket.
