Bash at the Beach 1996 - The Results

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Psychosis after reversing a Niagara Diver from the top rope into a Frankensteiner. During the match, it is mentioned that Eric Bischoff has not made it to the building yet.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Konnan. Konnan says that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair has reason to be overly confident because he's done it all, but he's overcautious because Flair has an entourage and he hasn't been here long enough to forge any alliances. He promises to take on anyone that interferes in the match and return home to Mexico with the United States title.

John Tenta beats Big Bubba in a Carson City Silver Dollar Match after Jimmy Hart gets the sock full of silver dollars for Big Bubba only to run right into Tenta, who takes the sock from him and nails Big Bubba with it. Tenta places silver dollars on top of the eyes of Big Bubba after the match, and Big Bubba is mad as soon as he comes to.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage doesn't care who the third man is, and says the third man is going to get hurt just like Diesel and Razor Ramon. Luger says he, Sting and Savage are prepared regardless of who the third man is, and says it is a privilege to be chosen as part of this team, then says that actions speak louder than words. Sting says the unknown gives him a dry mouth, makes him a nervous wreck, sends shivers down his spine and gives him goosebumps, and luckily for him, it does the same to Luger and Savage.

Diamond Dallas Page beats "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan in a Taped Fist Match after kicking the rope into Duggan's crotch prior to the Diamond Cutter to retain the Lord of the Ring ring and moniker. After the match, Duggan gets up, tapes his fist, and gives DDP what for.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart, The Taskmaster and The Giant. The Taskmaster doesn't care how many of the Horsemen gang up on him, they're still on his home turf. The Giant considers the Taskmaster the backbone of the Dungeon of Doom, not the weakest link, and says he is the elite, not The Four Horsemen, and says that they're having horse stew later on. Jimmy Hart can't wait to see who wins.

Lee Marshall interviews "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson. Anderson tells Diesel and Razor Ramon that they will find a rough road with Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage and that they don't have an idea who they're taking on. Anderson tells them that if they can survive Sting, Luger and Savage, then maybe they can take a shot at them. He then says he can't wait for Jimmy Hart and The Giant to be chopped down to size. Neither can Benoit, who says The Horsemen have tolerated The Dungeon of Doom for far too long and finish what they started. He plans to leave The Taskmaster for dead and says The Giant have laid out an opportunity to take the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from him.

The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) in a Dog Collar Match, then both teams continue to fight each other even after everyone is unchained from one another.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund says that Diesel and Razor Ramon are backstage, and that if they are to touch him right now, there would be legal repercussions. He has been trying to get a word from them, but has been unsuccessful. He says that tonight is history in the making.

Before the next match, Disco Inferno says that everyone is welcome to his disco dance party after he beats Dean Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Disco Inferno with the Texas Cloverleaf.

Steve "Mongo" McMichael beats Joe Gomez.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Miss Elizabeth and Woman. Flair says you can never have enough trophies in life, and says The Four Horsemen will be taking the United States and World Heavyweight gold. Flair says Konnan may have a thousand holds, but he will be meeting a man with unlimited knowledge in the ring. Miss Elizabeth says there will be "a great big party" afterwards, and Woman says she'd like to have a "private party" with Okerlund. Flair tells "Macho Man" Randy Savage he knows he has his focus elsewhere, but tells him that Miss Elizabeth will never come back to him.

The Nature Boy" Ric Flair beats Konnan to win the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Flair uses the ropes after Miss Elizabeth distracts the ref so Woman can use one of her heels as a weapon.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is at the doors to a restricted area. Behind the doors are Diesel, Razor Ramon and the third man. Okerlund says the third man sounds familiar, but the voice is muffled and can't seem to make out who this third man is, but the voice sounds very familiar in his sub-conscience. Also, Eric Bischoff still hasn't made it to the venue yet.

The Taskmaster and The Giant attack "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson before the match begins. Steve "Mongo" McMichael hits The Giant in the back with the briefcase, and gets The Giant to chase him to the back. This leaves Anderson and Benoit free to focus solely on The Taskmaster, but that doesn't last for long as Jimmy Hart brings The Giant back to the ring.

The Dungeon of Doom (The Giant and The Taskmaster) beat The Four Horsemen ("The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) after The Giant hits Anderson with a choke slam while Benoit and The Taskmaster fight near the broadcast booth. After the match, Benoit and The Taskmaster keep on fighting. Woman shows up and tells Benoit to stop hurting The Taskmaster for some reason. The Giant shows up and chases Benoit and Woman out of the ring, then helps The Taskmaster to the back.

We see a video package that recaps all of the events leading up to tonight's main event.

The Outsiders - as Diesel and Razor Ramon are referred to for this match - arrive for the main event without their third man. Suddenly, "Mean" Gene Okerlund shows up and confronts Diesel and Razor, asking where the third man is. Razor tells Okerlund he knows too much already, and just tells him that the third man is here and he's ready. Diesel confirms that the third man is in the building, and says that they are capable of handling their opponents.

During the main event, Lex Luger is knocked out cold after Sting accidentally hits Luger with the Stinger Splash simultaneously with Diesel and has to be removed from the ring on a stretcher. Luger has to be hurried to the back before Diesel and Razor Ramon can do any more damage to him. It is revealed by commentary that Razor Ramon goes by "Hall" and Diesel by "Nash." (They will be referred to as "Hall" and "Nash" for the remainder of this blog entry and in the future.)

The Outsiders (Hall and Nash) get the upper hand on Sting, Lex Luger and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. After Nash hits Savage with a low blow. Hulk Hogan makes a surprise appearance. He gets in the ring, then hits Savage with a leg drop, revealing himself as the third man. The referee is tossed out, then Hogan hits a second leg drop on Savage. Nash, Hall and Hogan celebrate as Sting helps Savage to the back, and fans throw trash into the ring. "Mean" Gene Okerlund gets in the ring and interviews the threesome, starting with Hogan, and asks Hogan what in the world he is thinking. Hogan tells Okerlund to tell the crowd to shut up if they want to hear what he has to say. Okerlund is ashamed of what Hogan has just done, and says Hogan has to be crazy to join Hall and Nash. He calls himself, Nash and Hall the future of wrestling and says we can call them "The New World Order of wrestling." Hulk says they just came from a big wrestling company up north (an obvious reference to WWF) and everyone was wondering who the third man was, then asks who knows more about "that organization" better than him. Okerlund says he's been there and done that, and says Hogan has made a bad decision. Hogan says he has made "that organization" a monster, and made people rich up there, and made the people who ran that organization rich up there, and when all came to pass, his name got bigger than the organization. Then, "Billionaire Ted" "talked turkey" with him and promised him movies, millions of dollars and world caliber matches, and as far as he, Eric Bischoff and WCW goes, he's bored. He calls Nash and Hall the men he wants as his friends and the new blood of professional wrestling. They plan to not only take over the whole wrestling business, but destroy everything in their path. Okerlund then analogizes all the trash in the ring to his very near future, but Hogan says the trash in the ring represents all the fans. He says that for two years, he held his head high and did everything for the kids and the charities, and tells the fans that, due to their reception, they can stick it , as if it wasn't for him, the fans wouldn't be here, Eric Bischoff would still be selling meat form a truck in Minneapolis, and that wrestling and "all the Johnny-come-latelys" wouldn't be here. He says he was selling out the world while everyone else was bumming gas to put in their car to get to high school. With him, Nash and Hall as a force, he asks "Whatcha gonna do when the New World Organization runs wild on you?" Tony Schiavone tells us we have seen the end of Hulkamania. As the show comes to a close, Schiavone tells Hogan that he can go to Hell.
