In his opinion, titles should be earned, not given, then says one should sweat more in peacetime to bleed less in war. He came to Starrcade to fight, and knows the fans came to see a ladder match. Extreme Nation - ECW on TNN recap for December 17, 1999

James Storm says he cannot believe that he and Justin Credible have to beat Chris Candido and Rhino to earn a title shot. It is not that they cannot beat them; it is that they should not have to. Since they do, Candido and Rhino will be victimized, and Tammy Lynn Sytch will have a reason to piss and moan. They're not looking past them; they're looking through them. Justin proclaims that at Guilty As Charged on January 9th, they will claim their destiny and become ECW World Tag Team Champions.

Backstage, Chris Chetti tells Nova that he is coming back tonight. Nova tells him to forget about it, as his back is nowhere near 100%, and asks him if he wants to be like The Dynamite Kid, Ricky Steamboat or "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, and tells him that the man he has handpicked for his partner is wrestling in his place tonight. Chetti tells his replacement he has one shot and one shot only, and if he screws Nova over, he will break his neck. He tells him he is with him. Chetti turns around to leave, asks if his replacement is checking out his ass, then says he can't blame him because his looks would turn a straight man gay. Chetti leaves, then Nova tells the guy that Chetti was dropped a little too hard on his head in wrestling school and his family is a little bit crazy.

Da Baldies (Tony DeVito, Angel, Vic Grimes) are in the ring. Tony DeVito says they are here tonight to stake their claim, and now the streets of Virginia belong to Da Baldies. He then says that if anybody in the back wants to fight for their turf, they will have to go through them, or more specifically, through him. The challenge is answered by none other than New Jack.

New Jack beats Tony DeVito. After the match, New Jack grabs a fork. He is about to drive it into DeVito's skull when Vic Grimes and Angel beat up New Jack from behind. Angel then staples New Jack's ear with a staple gun.

Mike Awesome retains the ECW World Heavyweight Championship against Vic Grimes after putting Grimes through a table. "Judge" Jeff Jones puts Mike Awesome on a pedestal, then Spike Dudley shows up, kicks Awesome in the groin, hits him with the Acid Drop and leaves.

We are in the locker room. "Dastardly" Danny Doring says that tonight, he will cash in on the fringe benefits of being a professional wrestler. He then talks about his favorite subject: him. That gets cut short when he walks in on Roadkill, then Francine shows up wondering if he and Roadkill are done so she can take a shower. Elektra comes out and threatens to cut the "Danaconda" down to a garden snake if she ever catches him talking to another woman again.

Super Calo vs. Ikuto Hidaka vs. Tom Marquez ends with Sabu showing up with Bill Alfonso and attacking all three men in the match with a crutch and a steel chair. He eventually hits all three men with a springboard leg drop through a table.

The Impact Players (Justin Credible and Lance Storm) beat Chris Candido and Rhino to face Raven and "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer for the ECW World Tag Team Championships at Guilty As Charged after Lance Storm leaps over a Gore by Rhino, who then charges into Chris Candido. After the match, Storm says The Impact Players have proved that they cannot be denied and that they are the next tag team champions. He also says it cannot be denied that Justin Credible is the hardcore icon. The Sandman shows up through the crowd, then "The Sexiest Man Alive" Jason steps up to The Sandman as The Impact Players leave. Jason gets caned, but Justin Credible sneaks up on Sandman from behind and smacks him in the back with a Singapore cane of his own. Lance Storm sets up a table, but Sandman ducks a cane shot and Justin hits Storm instead. After a White Russian Leg Sweep on Storm, Rhino shows up and Gores The Sandman through a table.

Raven asks someone to understand that he is trying so hard to do the right thing, and he can't go through it again. He says he cannot fight "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer again, as it took so much out of him the first time, and now he is weak. He says Dreamer is too strong, and he cannot do it again. He says the funny thing is that he would lure Dreamer to his side, but Dreamer lured him to his. He wants to do the right thing and he is trying. He will be at Guilty As Charged, and they will get rid of The Impact Players (Justin Credible and Lance Storm), and he wants him to understand that he will be in his corner. We then see that he is talking to Francine, who replies "I understand. I really do."

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for December 16, 1999

In footage from earlier today, Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon announce that WWF Chairman Vince McMahon and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon are not here tonight. Triple H says there was concern over last Monday night, but he and Stephanie had to assert themselves. From now on, things will be handled a little bit differently and more fairly. Some people have felt that they have been held down in the past; those people will be given a chance to shine. There are others who have had everything handed to them on a silver platter; tonight, that platter gets taken away. From top to bottom, everybody will be treated fairly. Tonight, Mankind will face Al Snow one-on-one following their problems. Also, The Rock will face Big Show for the WWF Championship. Triple H announces that tonight marks the dawn of a new era: the McMahon-Helmsley Era.

Before the next match, The Big Boss Man says that if people think what he did to Al Snow was bad and what he did to Big Show was cruel, then they should just wait until he deals with everyone else in the World Wrestling Federation. Suddenly, Chris Jericho shows up and tells Boss Man he must be sure his mother once told him not to say anything at all if he can't say anything nice. He then tells Boss Man that if he cannot say something entertainment, then he should shut the hell up, as while he is boring all the Jerichoholics, he is standing in the back waiting to show off his new and improved "Inter-Chris-tinental" belt. Since Boss Man is in the ring with Prince Albert, he might as well destroy them both Ayatollah-style. Shortly after the match starts, however, Chyna and Miss Kitty show up to watch the match from ringside. We then see Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon wining and dining backstage while watching the show, and we find out that neither of them booked the current match.

Chris Jericho beats Big Boss Man and Prince Albert in a 2-on-1 handicap match. During the match, Big Boss Man tosses his nightstick to Prince Albert, then Chyna gets in the ring and hits Albert with a low blow. When WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon asks what that means, Triple H says it's just an expression, Stephanie decides to head to ringside to check somebody out. That somebody ends up being Kurt Angle (whom Triple H calls "an ostrich jerky salesman," a reference to Angle being a spokesperson for Ostrim, a beef jerky product made out of ostrich meat), who is facing Test. When Triple H hears Test's name, Triple H tries to stop her.

Triple H tells WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon that she is not going anywhere, and that is final. He does not trust Test for a second and he does not know what is capable of. Stephanie says she knows Test, but Triple H says she knows Test too well, and they are going to drink champagne and have a good time. Stephanie says she's going anyway, and Triple H can go drink by himself.

WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon guests on commentary for the next match. She now prefers to go by the name Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley at this point.

Kurt Angle beats Test by disqualification. During the match, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley calls for the bell and has Test disqualified for using a closed fist on Kurt Angle. We see footage from during the commercial break where medical staff tends to Test. We then see Test on a stretcher, and when WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley confronts Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco for helping tend to Test, not only does Test get angry, but Brisco and Patterson are put in a match against The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn). If they do not take part in the match, they will be fired.

During the match, the match goes backstage to D-Generation X's (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn), but when both men go into the room, Al Snow is the one who ends up getting beaten up. After the match, it is revealed that The Rock was behind the door and that it was really The Rock's dressing room all along.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco talk backstage. Patterson is concerned about getting hurt, but Brisco wants a title belt around his waist.

The orange lights and logo show up before the next match.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) join Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley just before Triple H and Stephanie walk out for some fresh air.

Edge beats Christian with a roll-up. It appears that Christian's shoulders were down the entire time. Christian confronts him at first, but then raises his hand in a sign of respect.

The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) are caught by Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley trying to leave the arena, and are told to face The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) or get fired.

The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) quickly beat The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) in an Acolyte Rules Match.

Lilian Garcia interviews Jim Ross backstage. Jim Ross says he has seen nothing like the McMahon-Helmsley era, and that Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley's actions are reprehensible, and he is sad and embarrassed for the fans and the McMahon family. When asked for one word to describe Stephanie's actions, he says "it rhymes with witch, ans starts with a B."

Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley confront Jim Ross for his very recent choice of words, and threatens to wreck him again. When Stephanie asks Jim Ross what he called her and he refuses to say it, Stephanie slaps him.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for December 13, 1999

The show begins with Jeff Jarrett attacking "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit backstage. Benoit gets the upper hand, however, and hocks loogies out of his nose at him in typical Benoit fashion.

Before the next match, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea says "Hello," then The Maestro is both seen and heard playing piano on a platform being lowered from the sky as bubbles blow around him while he has Symphony by his side.

The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea beats The Maestro after Symphony slaps Iaukea, Iaukea's valet Paisley slaps The Maestro, and Iaukea rolls The Maestro up and grabs the tights. After the match, Jeff Jarrett shows up with two guitars. One of them goes into Iaukea's head; the other one goes into The Maestro's. Jarrett then tells "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit if he wants to step into the same ring as "The Chosen One," he will get his wish. He then challenges him to a Bunkhouse Brawl as part of a tune-up match for Starrcade. He then tells Benoit to bring and wear anything, and that he will make an example out of him.

Kevin Nash is seen waiting on Scott Hall backstage.

Evan Karagias is seen talking to Spice. Madusa catches him, then finds Madusa and tries to attack her out of jealousy and rage. Referees have to step in and stop everything.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up. Bret says it is not easy being the guy who talks about being the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be, and that you have to look into your heart and believe it. He thanks the fans for backing him up. Ever since he came to WCW, he always knew that sooner or later, he would have to step into the ring with Goldberg. He has infinite respect for him and has watched him over and over, and in order to be World champion, he would have to give Goldberg the very first shot at Starrcade. At Starrcade, he will be the first one looking forward to Goldberg, as he has something to prove. He then tells Goldberg he is a great wrestler, but when the smoke settles at Starrcade, he will not beat him. He then makes one guarantee: at Starrcade, he will be standing with his hand raised in the middle of the ring. Suddenly, Goldberg shows up and tells Bret that unfortunately for him, matches are not won by confidence level, but by beating one's opponents. As of late, the World title looks good around Bret's waist, but at Starrcade, he must beat him man to man, and that is not going to happen. Not only will he never beat him, he is next. Suddenly, The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up. Hall says they have been talking, and Bret and Golberg have something that belongs to them, as everyone knows that they are "it" because when you mess with The Outsiders, you mess with the "shhhhhh bomb." Nash tells Bret and Goldberg they have something that belongs to them: the tag team titles. If they can find it in their hearts to kiss and make up tonight, then they can put the tag team titles on the light tonight so they can walk out tonight the champs. Also, if they don't want to do it, they can do it the hard way. Bret says that if they want it, they've got it.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Madusa and looks at her breasts. She says Spice had no business talking to Evan, and she is going to wrestle her tonight.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper is seen entering the arena.

Backstage, The Total Package finds out from Terry Taylor that he is in a tag team match against Diamond Dallas Page and Sting, and that his partner is David Flair.

A man delivers a package to David Flair. Flair scares the man away, then takes the package.

Spice beats Madusa. During the match, Evan Karagias gets in the ring, and when Karagias refuses to hit Spice, she confronts him directly. Spice elbows Madusa from behind and gets the pinfall to get the win. She then runs away. After the match, Madusa beats Evan karagias up.

Vince Russo asks if Curt Hennig is ready for his match, then asks Shane if the remote control is ready for the segment. Rhonda Sing comes into the office ready for her next assignment, but Russo tells her to get an agent or else they will have nothing to talk about. Russo then asks Shane to go get "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

We see a short video package for The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Asya) and their feud with "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Duggan is not worried about what is going to happen at Starrcade. He has come to the ring for many years, but lately, there has been a few things happening that he has a tough time swallowing. It is not the cleaning of toilets, as he has done it before and he will do it again, but a lack of respect for America. When he came back to WCW after his cancer treatment, he got on his knees in the middle of the ring and thanked the Lord for sparing his life and allowing him to grow older with his family. However, if he has to get off his deathbed, he will defend the flag of the United States of America as long as there is air in his lungs and blood in his heart, and he will not quit, waver or stop as he attacks, regardless of how many men are out there. When he thinks of the members of the armed forces who made the sacrifice for their country, he stands a little taller, and he tells The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Asya) that he and the people of the United States will take it no longer, as this is the land of the free and the home of the free. Suddenly, the lights go dark and static appears on the video screen. Suddenly, someone gets in the ring and lays Duggan out, then the lights come back on.

Vince Russo laughs about what happened to "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, then "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is brought into the office. Up next, he will referee a match between Curt Hennig and Buff Bagwell where he has the final say, meaning his decision is final. Russo tells him to consider this a test, and tells him it would be good for his career to do the right thing. If he can do that, there will be no problems.

Backstage, The Total Package looks for David Flair.

Before the next match, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper tells Curt Hennig and Buff Bagwell that he will do the right thing, that there will be no disqualifications, that he wants a winner and a loser, and that he will get on the case of either man if they screw up in this match.

Buff Bagwell beats Curt Hennig. During the match, Buzzkill is seen in the crowd carrying a sign saying "Save The Baby Seals." Also during the match, special guest referee "Rowdy" Roddy Piper punches out Curt Hennig, giving Buff Bagwell with a fast count. Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald) are seen on the stage after the match.

The Total Package knocks on the door of David Flair's dressing room, and notices David Flair acting strangely.

Jeff Jarrett beats "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit in a Bunkhouse Brawl. During the match, Dustin Rhodes shows up, and refere Charles Robinson gests in his way. He is about to go for the Shattered Dreams when Jeff Jarrett smashes a guitar into his head. As he does this, Rhodes kicks him in the gut, and they both go down at the same time. Benoit then climbs up the ladder, and Jarrett pushes Rhodes into the ladder, knocking Benoit off the top. After ramming Rhodes' head into the ladder, he goes for the pinfall and get the win.

The Total Pakage is seen talking to David Flair backstage, who is seen giggling and huggng a headless teddy bear. David Flair is not listening to The Total Package at all.

Chris Jericho shows up. He declares that the Intercontinental title is once again around the waist of a legendary and incredibly charismatic showman like himself where it belongs, and just by having it around his waist, he has given the WWF a tremendous amount of credibility and pulled it out of the hole it has dug for itself. He has also proven as a champion that Raw is definitely his show and that "Raw is Jericho." Suddenly, X-Pac shows up and tells Jericho that he doesn't know what he is sicker of: Jericho's crap or that people in the crowd are buying it. All he hears is about how great Jericho is, but he is a lot greater than him at how to treat a lady, and he can ask Tori. If Jericho wants to run his mouth and think he is a legend, then it is time to put up or shut up with the title on the line, and Jericho's ass is his and he's going to smoke it. Suddenly, Chyna and Miss Kitty show up after a referee runs to the ring, and they watch from the stage.

Stephanie says it has always been about what he wants, even at the expense of his own family. She admits she loved Test, but she wasn't ready for marriage, as a marriage to Test what what he wanted. She also says he isn't "daddy's little girl" anymore, and she is doing things her way and it feels "damn good." She admits that she used to get butterflies when Triple H looked at her. She did not want to or mean to, but he looked so strong and powerful, and he outsmarted Vince by making business personal, something she says Vince knows a lot about doing. Stephanie then mentions it has almost since a year since he had The Undertaker abducted and locked ina rat-infested basement with no light, and says Vince put her there before having somebody rummage through the things in her bedroom. She then says the icing on the cake was The Undertaker's attempted wedding and sacrifice, and says she was sacrificed at her own expense so he could screw "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. She then tells Vince "What comes around, goes around," and by Vince hurting her, she got back at him by marrying Triple H, whom she then admits turns her on. As Stephanie leaves the ring, Triple H shows up, and Stephanie stands beside him. Extreme Nation - ECW on TNN recap for December 10, 1999

Bill Alfonso says everybody wants to know how he is going to handle the problems between Rob Van Dam and Sabu, and says there is a simple solution. All of a sudden, the dressing room door opens, and Francine calls for "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer to get in the room as Raven is beating his head on the wall again. Dreamer runs in and tells Raven to stop, because he did the right thing. He tells Raven that he has come so far, and he cannot mess it up now.

Joey Styles and "The Quintessential Studmuffin" Joel Gertner introduce everyone to the show. After a replay of the end of what happened at the end of last week's show, Steve Corino and Jack Victory are in the ring. Corino says what happened at the Limp Bizkit concert proved that hardcore wrestling is bad and hardcore music is even worse. He says there are a lot of great music groups out there, like The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and Britney Spears (whom Corino calls his soon-to-be-girlfriend), calling it "real music" that is not generated for high school dropouts like the people in the crowd. He says there is one man who was stupid enough to start the hardcore revolution, and that man is "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. The crowd chants for Dusty as he is seen in the back of the crowd. Corino says Paul Heyman might bleep it out now that he has mentioned his name, then thanks Dusty for "ruining every one of these people's lives," since 90% of them are probably drunk right now. Dusty leaves, but Corino says he is not done with him and then says he left his spine at the last place that he killed. Dusty Rhodes then stands at the aisle leading up to the ring. Joey Styles tells Dusty to stop, but Dusty tosses Jack Victory's wheelchair away. Corino says he is a big boy and that he has beat everybody in the locker room in the last year, and that he will not let "an old fossil" push him around. Dusty gets in the ring, and Corino tells him the business has changed. He says this is not 1985, and that Dusty is not the bull of the woods in his territory anymore. He says Dusty has made all these great phrases, and that he has nothing to say for himself right now as he is looking into the eyes of the future of professional wrestling. Corino says he has no respect for Dusty and never did, then he slaps him. Dusty respons by hitting Corino and Jack Victory with bionic elbows, then he slams Corino on the mat. He has beaten him once, and he will beat him again. This time, he will do it all by himself. He says it is not because he his partner does not want to help, and he does not want anybody's help. Lance Storm says that just because they stand together does not mean they cannot stand alone, as it is one more way to make an impact. Tonight, it will be at Sandman's expense, as being impact players is not just a name, it is who they are and what they do. Justin says it is not just a name, but a lifestyle, and dares The Sandman to come get some.

Spike Dudley quickly beats Uganda with a low blow followed by the Acid Drop.

Rob Van Dam says that when he and Sabu were partners and he was carrying Sabu for a tag team championship reign, he never liked sharing the ring with him. He knew then just like he knows now that the spotlight will shine bright on Van Dam, and he always has to shine in his light. He says sending him out of the ring injured was like a load being lifted off his shoulders, but he knows he will always come back.
