Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for April 10, 2020

Braun Strowman shows up to start tonight's show. Strowman says that when opportunity knocks on the door, you answer it, and at WrestleMania, he knocked the door off its hinges, took everything Goldberg threw at him and put him down to become WWE Universal Champion. Suddenly, Shinsuke Nakamura shows up. Nakamura says "Knock, knock" in response to Strowman's statement about opportunity, and says that the last time he saw Strowman, he beat him. Strowman tells Nakamura to let him enjoy his night, as he might "knock, knock, knock" the crap out of him. Nakamura tells Strowman that the weak are the meek and that the strong eat. Strowman tells Nakamura he will get these hands later tonight. Suddenly, Cesaro tries to hit Strowman with a sneak attack, but Strowman pushes him out of the ring. When he turns around, Nakamura hits Strowman with a roundhouse kick and retreats.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane).

Elias is on the balcony. After thanking everyone for inviting him to their homes tonight, he celebrates his victory against King Corbin at WrestleMania with a song called "Walk With The King."

Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville show up, saying that the footage from last week is doctored and that they just want the best for Mandy. Suddenly, Tucker shows up. Tucker says he has some pictures that Ziggler deserve to see, and shows pictures of Otis working out with Mandy Rose on the video screen before stating he and Ziggler have unfinished business after he tried to injure him last week.

In two weeks: the 25th anniversary celebration of Triple H's WWE career!

Dolph Ziggler beats Tucker.

It's time for The Dirt Sheet. The Miz and John Morrison brag about their tag team title victory at WrestleMania, then talk about the rest of WrestleMania, saying most of it is good news before performing their new song "Hey Hey." They are soon interrupted in the middle of the first chorus by The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), who says that Pee Wee Herman has more street cred than Miz and Morrison as they want another shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Miz - who is still not medically cleared - and Morrison leave after a brief argument with The Usos, then The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) show up. Big E says that if one member of each team competed for the titles at WrestleMania, the other members should also have a chance to compete. Kofi then mentions that Big E, Jey Uso and The Miz will be in a Triple Threat Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) beat The Lucha House Party (Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik) in their main roster debut.

Backstage, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross celebrate retaining the women's tag team titles when they are met by Dana Brooke and Carmella, who challenge them for the titles. Alexa and Nikki accept their challenge.

Sasha Banks and Bayley show up. After celebrating outsmarting Paige and keeping the SmackDown Women's Championship around Bayley's waist at WrestleMania, Bayley declares herself and Sasha "the ultimate role models" and tells the rest of the women's division "Screw you." Sasha says that nobody can understand their future and that nobody past, present or future can touch them, Suddenly, Tamina shows up. Bayley and Sasha try to patronizingly congratulate her on her return, but Tamina says it took everyone to eliminate her and tells Bayley to set an example and defend the title against her. Sasha tells Tamina there is a pecking order, and that she cannot just step up and make demands. Bayley then tells Tamina she can have her match if she can beat Sasha. Tamina accepts the challenge, then tells Sasha "Your bestie just screwed you."

Sheamus beats Cal Bloom.

We look back on Jeff Hardy's career in WWE with "Chapter One: The Rise."

Next week: Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro in a Money In The Bank Qualifier! Naomi vs. Dana Brooke in a Money In The Bank Qualifier! Sonya Deville attempts to clear the air with Mandy Rose!

Braun Strowman beats Shinsuke Nakamura. After the match, Bray Wyatt shows up on the video screen. He says that nobody can see John Cena, then congratulates Braun Strowman on his Universal Championship wins. Suddenly, the lantern speaks to Bray, who says that Strowman turned his back on him. He feels he can forgive him, but everyone else in the Firefly Fun House except for Ramblin' Rabbit feels otherwise. Bray says he will forgive Strowman if he says sorry, but Strowman says he is not in the mood to play games. Bray then says that Strowman's next lesson will be about sharing, and that he has the Universal Championship. He says that since he brought Strowman into WWE, he will have to take him out. Strowman tells Bray that he is ready to let him in any time he wants before mockingly saying goodbye to him.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for April 3, 2020

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up to not only start tonight's show, but also to interrupt Miz TV before it can even start, as they want to get back on The Miz and John Morrison for blindsiding them last week as they take the SmackDown tag team titles. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) soon join them, and tell The Usos that they will take the tag team titles from Miz and Morrison. Both men start to argue, then Miz and Morrison show up. Miz says that no matter what either team does, he and Morrison will thrive because that is what winners do. He then says they can bicker all they want, as it will give them a front row preview of WrestleMania, as they are buddy-buddy until competition sets in. Miz and Morrison then climb on ladders on the stage as they say that both teams will tear each other apart while they retain their tag team titles. The Usos and The New Day then run up the ramp and brawl with Miz and Morrison on the stage, but after Kofi is inadvertently superkicked, both teams brawl once again until Miz and Morrison take advantage of the situation to lay them out.

Sasha Banks and Bayley guest on commentary for the next match.

Tamina beats Naomi and Lacey Evans in a Triple Threat Match after Bayley sends Naomi neck-first into the top rope and Sasha Banks sends Lacey into the steel steps. After the match, Bayley shakes hands with Tamina, but after the handshake, Tamina superkicks Bayley. Sasha Banks tries to fist bump Tamina afterwards, but Tamina plants her with a Samoan Drop.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair from WrestleMania 24 is replayed.

It is announced that Goldberg will now defend the WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman. (In reality, Roman Reigns has had to pull out of the match due to being immuno-compromised due to his recent bout with leukemia, which put him at higher risk for COVID-19.)

Backstage, Otis tells Tucker that Dolph Ziggler is his at WrestleMania and to save him a piece. Tucker tells Otis that Mandy Rose had recently asked about him. Suddenly, Otis' phone goes off, and Otis has to take a call.

Tucker beats Dolph Ziggler by disqualification after hitting Tucker with a Zig Zag on the steel steps. After the match, Ziggler is about to hit Tucker with the steel steps when Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville tell him to stop. Otis then runs out. As Otis runs in and checks on Tucker, static - which has been seen at intermittent times once per week for the last few months - shows up, followed by the words "The Truth Will be Heard" being shown on-screen. Afterwards, a man in a black hoodie sitting in front of a group of computer monitors turns around, his face never shown, and he says that the truth will be heard. With the tap of a key, we then see security camera footage where it is revealed that Sonya Deville made the text to Otis, and that Sonya set up the date with Ziggler and Mandy. Mandy walks away from Sonya, who pleads with her, then Otis chases Ziggler to the back.

Backstage, Sonya Deville catches up to Mandy Rose, who wants nothing to do with her following what has just happened.

Sami Zayn guests on commentary for the next match.

Daniel Bryan beats Shinsuke Nakamura by disqualification after Cesaro gets involved. After the match, Drew Gulak attacks Cesaro, but he is overpowered, as is Daniel Bryan. Cesaro then hits Daniel Bryan with a Neutralizer before Nakamura hits Daniel with a Kinshasa. Sami Zayn then hits Daniel with a Helluva Kick out of the corner.

John Cena shows up. Cena says that the continuance of performance with no live audience has been a bit of a gamble, and thanks the fans for allowing WWE into their homes up until the final minutes of the final broadcast before "an unprecedented WrestleMania." He says that WrestleMania will be the most watched and most talked-about event of the weekend, as nobody knows what will happen. He also admits he cannot find out what a Firefly Fun House match is and that Bray Wyatt probably has no idea, either. He then says that The Fiend wants this uncertainty, as uncertainty leads to panic, panic leads to fear and fear leads to collapse and The Fiend thrives on uncertainty, fear and panic. He then tells the fans, who are wondering what will happen next, that he will not panic, that he is not afraid, and that he will end what Bray Wyatt started six years ago as Bray is nowhere near his level. He says that "a bootleg version of Mr. Rogers" does not stand a chance, and calls The Fiend the loved child of an "oversexed Wiz Khalifa" and Michigan J. Frog, and that The Fiend will lose despite all of his advantages. Cena then accepts the challenge of a Firefly Fun House Match. Ramblin' Rabbit shows up and says that after The Fiend is done with Cena, he will play with The Fiend forever. Huskus, Abby and Mercy then join in the "forever" chant, then The Fiend appears. The Fiend is then on the balcony, and as he and Cena stare at each other, Bray Wyatt shows up from behind Cena and says "Let me in." The lights go out, and when they come back on, everyone except Cena is gone.

Zack Gibson gives James Drake a tour of Liverpool, England, and says he is so big that if he were to leave, Liverpool would crumble. He says the people of Liverpool will have their eyes on them when they win the NXT UK tag titles, as Liverpool needs him more than he needs Liverpool.

As the fans chant that this is not their kingdom, Joe Coffey says they are "Gallus" and that "British Strong Style" does not register because he could taste the fear last week. Devlin tells Radzi to compare the NXT UK to a deck of cards, as he is the ace and "Flash" Morgan Webster is the joker. He plans to throw his helmet into the fifth row after he is done with him and look for another card in the deck. Devlin finishes by simply stating "Ace trumps all."

Now, everybody knows that, and that the WWE UK title proves he is the best in Britain. Dunne says that people should be worried about how prepared Danny Burch is, as they took the same path to get here. He says he has taken everyone out, and now he wants to see if Danny Burch can step up. He says that while Burch invented British Strong Style, he perfected it and put it on the map, and that if Burch wants his attention, he will get it when he breaks his fingers and walks out still the UK champ.

We hear from Eddie Edwards, who is hurt that his friends reached their wrestling dreams with out him. He has traded his job as the youngest principal in all of Britain for the wrestling ring, and while his friends built the foundation for NXT UK, it will soon be built around him. Eddie Dennis, who will be debuting next week, says he has everything to prove.

He says others would have walked away, but he has made his stand and he is ready to be here. Burch says that Pete Dunne is nearly perfect in just about everything, and all he can do is be the best that he can be and make sure Dunne does not get ahead at everything he is good at. After the match, Radzi Chinyanganya interviews Dakota Kai, who says she has been privileged to perform all over the world, but nothing compares to performing in front of a UK crowd. She then addresses the NXT UK Women's Championship, and says if there is a prestigious title on the line, then she wants in on the action as she is not afraid to kick anyone's head off along the way.

We hear from Eddie Dennis again. He says that as he was becoming the principal of an elite private school, Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne were living at home with their parents and flying themselves to America and Japan. He also talks about having to sit and watch as they competed in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament in 2017. Eddie is irritated that they lived their WWE dreams without him.

Zack Gibson shows up. Zack Gibson proclaims that he is Liverpool's number one and soon to be the world's number one as well as NXT UK's number one. He gloats about winning the 2018 United Kingdom Championship Tournament as the crowd continues to boo him, and despite the fact that he had no rest or time to prepare, he took Pete Dunne to his absolute limit. He then claims that a fresh Zack Gibson can beat a fresh Pete Dunne, and that everyone knows it. He says it was supposed to be a match against him and Dunne, but the crowd put him off at every given opportunity. As the crowd chants "If you hate Gibson, stand up," Gibson says he did not get the rematch he deserved as they were giving title shots to people like Noam Dar who let the title slip through their fingers despite weeks of preparation. He tells Pete Dunne to ignore the crowd - who now have their shoes in the air - as he will win the next time they meet, for he is the future champion and a face a brand can be built around, not guys like Noam Dar. He goes on to call Noam Dar an embarrassment in the Cruiserweight Classic, 205 Live and NXT UK, and if his name was put in a popular Internet search engine, you would give on of Noam Dar's "ridiculous, rotten poses."
