Before the next match, Adam Cole says that The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) will get Christmas started early when Bobby Fish embarrasses EC3, who thought that NXT would elevate his career to new heights only to find out that NXT is their world. Cole goes on to proclaim that they are the center of the NXT Universe, which revolves around them, and says that last year was the start of a decade of dominance and that 2019 will be the year The Undisputed Era will be drenched in gold.

EC3 beats Bobby Fish with a surprise inside cradle despite interference from the rest of The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong). After the match, The Undisputed Era attack EC3, but Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovich) show up to make the save and fight The Undisputed Era off. They then drag Kyle O'Reilly into the ring, and O'Reilly falls victim to a One Percenter before Otis Dozovic drops an elbow on him.

He says it is the greater good and that the ends justify the means, and if that means becoming NXT Champion and everyone celebrating, so be it. He says that Aleister Black was at the wrong place in the wrong time - his path - and continues to do so, and says that even if he is locked in a steel cage, he will do whatever it takes to end the story the right way. Next week, he closes the book on Aleister Black.

Dominic Dijakovic comes to NXT next week!

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler. She says that regardless of who she has to defend the NXT Women's Championship against, she will walk out with the title and her opponent a hospital bill. Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir then laugh at Dakota Kai and Io Shirai's challenge, and says "they're ready."

It is announced that Lacey Evans is the second competitor in the Fatal 4-Way to determine a #1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship in two weeks after beating Karen Q in a house show last week.

Mia Yim beats Reina Gonzalez to quality for the #1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Match for the NXT Women's Championship in two weeks.

We hear from Aleister Black, who says that the most interesting thing about the human race is that everything they do is based upon how they are feeling. As for how he feels about his steel cage match with Johnny Gargano, Aleister says he does not feel anything; he just knows he has to do this. He says that Gargano is far beyond absolution and redemption, and the only thing left is total annihilation in the form of the match. He says that when the match happens, there will be no running or ducking, and everything about Gargano will simply fade to black.

Next week: Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir in their NXT television debut vs. Dakota Kai and Io Shirai!

Ricochet's opponent for the open challenge for the NXT North American Championship is none other than Tyler Breeze, who shows up with his original pre-Breezango entrance complete with live selfie camera.

Io Shirai calls Kairi her best friend and is in it to protect her, and the three of them want Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

Ethan Carter III beats Marcel Barthel. After the match, EC3 says The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) tried to take him out, but they didn't finish the job. He says his message concerns one man - Bobby Fish - and says he will come for him in ways he cannot comprehend. After Mercedes Martinez, Candice LeRae - who is sporting a whole new look - confronts Nikki Cross for "ruining her and Johnny Gargano's lives," and Nikki rolls out of the ring laughing. Before she can make it to the back, however, she is met by Aleister Black, who then slowly looks towards the ring before approaching it. Aleister gets in the ring, then Candice LeRae approaches him. Aleister wants to know where Gargano is, saying that Gargano's future in NXT is gone.

Aleister Black then shows up, demanding to know where Johnny Gargano is. Regal tells him he told Gargano to stay at home, and tells Aleister he will face him at War Games. Aleister tells Regal that he will make Gargano's future fade to black.

Outside of the arena, Lars Sullivan is seen throwing things everywhere. He says that the NXT Championship match at War Games is his, not Velveteen Dream's, and that he has no problem tearing Dream in half before War Games.

The brawl between The Undisputed Era and War Raiders goes outside, and The Undisputed Era has the numbers advantage. Ricochet runs out and hits The Undisputed Era as a whole before going at it with Adam Cole. Generation NXT - NXT recap for September 26, 2018

General Manager William Regal shows up to start tonight's show. During the last month, he was been working on who attacked Aleister Black. Before he can say much more, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) shows up. Cole says that it is the same routine week after week for him not to do his job and instead pretend to be Sherlock Holmes. He says the attack on Aleister Black is on Regal and is in the past, and that Regal should make sure these attacks don't happen again. Strong asks if Regal will deal with War Raiders, then Cole says nobody in The Undisputed Era likes Aleister Black. Regal says he finds it funny that The Undisputed Era interrupted him, and the Era take offense to this. Cole thinks Regal is changing the subject to keep War Raiders unchecked, and also says that Ricochet has been ducking him. He is also furious that Pete Dunne has a championship opportunity. Cole then demands he be given a championship rematch right now. Regal tells Cole he never asked him for it and that he wanted Dunne to soften up Ricochet before asking. Cole tells Regal to watch what he is saying, but Regal says he won't be getting a fast one on him during the investigation on the attack on Aleister Black, and that he will not get his title match out of fairness. However, Adam Cole will be facing Ricochet and Pete Dunne for the NXT North American Championship in two weeks, while Strong and O'Reilly will defend the NXT tag titles against War Raiders in three weeks.

We see footage from earlier today where Johnny Gargano says he is excited about something for once: his match this week. He also says he did not like where he was going and went home. For the first time in a while, he is seeing clearly. He was sick and tired of whining and complaining, and that this is not him. Gargano says he had to go home to clear his head. All of a sudden, Gargano and Candice LeRae are approached by Lacey Evans, who says a real wife would fight beside her husband, which angers Candace. Gargano has to hold Candace back to make sure she does not attack Lacey Evans from behind.

We see a vignette for Lars Sullivan.

Backstage, The Velveteen Dream is approached for an interview by Cathy Kelley following a photo shoot. He refuses to talk about Johnny Gargano or Tommaso Ciampa, implying that Ciampa attacked Aleister Black. When asked if he knows that Ciampa attack Aleister, The Dream says he is not a snitch and that "the writing is on the wall."

Lars Sullivan beats Victor Orchant (portrayed by indies wrestler Vordell Walker) by disqualification after he is attacked by Ethan Carter III, who gets the better of Lars Sullivan in a post-match brawl.

Backstage, General Manager William Regal says he has narrowed things down and still needs answers on who attacked Aleister Black. Suddenly, Nikki Cross comes out of Regal's office, saying she wants to play with Bianca Belair again. Regal says she will take this under consideration, then Cross repeats the words "I know." When asked if Cross knows who attacked Aleister Black, Regal says that "nobody knows what Nikki knows."

Kairi Sane beats Vanessa Borne. After the match, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Bsazler shows up and heads to the ring. Baszler tells Kairi to celebrate with the Women's title while she can, because time is running out. She says Kairi may have won at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, but she will not take that anger out on her right now. She exercises her rematch clause, and says she will sink Kairi Sane and take back the title. Kairi gives her the rematch for the title at WWE Evolution, and says she will beat her again.

We see footage from earlier today where Keith Lee says he wants an opportunity at some championship gold to become limitless. He comes upon "The Finest" Kona Reeves, who is unimpressed by Lee before introducing himself. He tells Lee to wait his turn as he prepares for an interview, but Lee says if he wants to talk down to him, then they can meet in the ring so Reeves can bask in his glory.

In footage from earlier today, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) talk about their tag team title defense against Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV and how they have beaten them in the past. Kyle O'Reilly doubts that Trent Seven is at 100%, and The Undisputed Era disregard both Moustache Mountain and War Machine (Hanson and Rowe) as less than clever while saying that they will retain the tag team titles. Adam Cole says that at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, they debuted, and a year later, they have taken on all comers and have taken over NXT.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler guests on commentary for the next match.

Kairi Sane beats Aliyah with three In-Sane Elbows followed by The Anchor, during which she points at "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, who is at the commentary table, to send a message before their match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.

We see a video package which chronicles the events leading up to Ricochet vs. Adam Cole for the NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.

Velveteen Dream shows up. The Dream says the fans cheering for him is funny, and so is Ethan Carter III, who is so smart, so clever, and oh-so-charming. He also says that just like the fans, EC3 had his curiosity, but now he has something he couldn't buy if he tried and something The Dream didn't think anyone would want: his attention. He tells EC3 he has made an enemy out of him, and this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, it will be "Dream Over." Suddenly, EC3 shows up. EC3 asks if this is what is sounds like when doves cry (in an obvious Prince reference), then compliments The Dream's fanny pack and tells him not to get into his head, as he lives in people's heads. He says The Dream's head is a fixer-upper, and that he will make a profit out of it at TakeOver and claim victory after victory. The Dream says there is no "victory after victory," but the crowd chants "Yes!" The Dream says EC3 that he will not have his hand raised in victory and that he will not be laughing, and that the only thing on his mind will be "Dream Over." EC3 takes off his suit jacket and unbuttons his shirt as he says they do not have to wait until TakeOver and that they can do it right now. The Dream takes off his jacket, then throws it at EC3 and sucker punches him. EC3 fights back in this brawl, and hits The Dream with the One Percenter.

We see footage from earlier this week of Cathy Kelley reporting on the post-show attack of Aleister Black from last week's show, and breaks down the footage. Lars Sullivan is noticed in the background, and even more NXT Superstars are also seen in the footage.

He says that he has spoken to General Manager William Regal, and they have a plan. Tyler Bate says The Undisputed Era not only went for their tag team titles, but they also tried to tear them apart. He says that Trent Seven's well-being matters to him, and now Moustache Mountain are on a mission to take back the NXT tag team titles. They are invoking their rematch clause at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.

Ethan Carter III beats "The Finest" Kona Reeves. During the match, Velveteen Dream shows up and says there is someone in the building who still cannot get over NXT's recent trip to the United Kingdom, and if EC3 wants to talk about it, they can do that, but he has to enter "The Dream's World." If he is lucky, he may be able to bask in the experience. After he leaves, Reeves hits the Hawaiian Drop, but EC3 kicks out, and hits Reeves with the One Percenter as Reeves trash talks him while he is down.

Backstage, EC3 asks what kind of man would turn down The Velveteen Dream's invitation. He will join him for a conversation, but it will turn into a fight for he is the best here, there and everywhere and he is EC3.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler beats Candice LeRae with the Kirafuda Clutch. After the match, Baszler puts LeRae in the Kirafuda Clutch again, and two referees show up to break the hold. Suddenly, Kairi Sane runs into the ring and confronts Baszler, but the referees hold her back. Baszler pretends to leave the ring, but goes back in and boots Kairi Sane as she checks on Candice LeRae. Kairi goes after Baszler, but once again, she is held back by the referees.

Outside Full Sail University, Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) says they don't need any tricks to beat The Undisputed Era, as they will take the NXT tag team titles again. Next week: Ricochet in action! Keith Lee debuts in NXT!

Tommaso Ciampa pretends the NXT Championship is telling him that he deserves it, and says it deserves them and that they make a great couple before saying this is his NXT now. He says that all that he needed one moment, and he is a man of his word. He tells the fans to take a deep breath, but all they do is tell him to "shut the hell up." Ciampa then says he looks so good with the NXT Championship, and says nobody has deserved it like he did. He tells the fans to take a deep breath and enjoy it, for this is what it is like when NXT's most dangerous man takes his place at the head of the table. The fans repeatedly chant "No!" He then approaches an elderly woman that he remembers seeing in the front and tells her that he is her NXT Champion. He then gets back in the ring and, as the fans chant "You're an asshole!", says that the icing on the cake is that he not only beat Aleister Black, but Johnny Gargano once again proved that he is a failure and that Gargano loses and he wins. The crowd alternates between "Johnny Wrestling" and "Johnny sucks!" chants as Ciampa says Gargano and Aleister are two of the top talents in the world, but he is the one that ended Gargano's fairy tale with his hands cuffed and put the final nail in the coffin of Aleister's mystique. He says Aleister and Gargano can bicker over who is better all they want, but there is no dispute that he is so much better than whoever is #2 and that he is untouchable. He says that now that he is NXT Champion, NXT is now the A-show and he is the greatest sports entertainer of all time. He then sits in the middle of the ring like Aleister Black in the middle of the ring until Aleister shows up. Aleister walks to the ring, but Gargano all heads to the ring faster than Aleister is walking and overpowers Ciampa, who then escapes over the barricade. Gargano says NXT does not belong to Ciampa while he is still breathing, and that Ciampa is only NXT Champion because of him. As Gargano continues to repeat that last statement, Aleister nearly kicks Gargano's head off and knocks him down. The crowd chants "You deserve it!" to Gargano. Aleister then takes the microphone and tells Gargano that Ciampa is indeed NXT Champion because of him before leaving.

Strong tells Burch that even if Oney Lorcan fully recovers, they are the back of the line while The Undisputed Era is at the front. O'Reilly says that next week, they are invoking their rematch clause for the NXT Tag Team Championships, and Adam Cole tells Burch that he is "kind of a loser." Burch reminds The Undisputed Era aren't doing so well right now and that he pinned Kyle O'Reilly before last week's UK special, then Adam Cole accuses Burch and Oney Lorcan of having inflated egos ever since Burch got a shot at the NXT North American Championship.
