Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 5, 2025

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Jey Uso wants to know where Logan Paul is at, but Paul Heyman shows up instead. Jey says Heyman has balls after what he did to Roman Reigns, as he had seen past him since day one. Heyman says CM Punk put him in a position where it 100% guaranteed the sabotage of his relationship with Roman, and asks why he would sell his secrets to Punk after five years. He says that he turned Roman into the Tribal Chief and the undisputed ruler of the WWE for about four years only for Roman to lose the WWE Championship, disappear and leave him high and dry only to return to get his dominance back. Heyman says that he is in the right for turning on Roman after Roman disappeared him, then says "screw you" to both Jey Uso and the fans. Jey asks Heyman if he is okay, then asks what this has to do with him. Heyman says that has nothing to do with him, and that he really came out here to tell him that the World Heavyweight Championship is power and control that Jey does not know how to wield. He then says that as much as Jey wants to be champion, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins has to have the championship and the power and control. He calls Bron Breakker part one of Rollins' plan, then says part two is the World Heavyweight Championship. Heyman then does Jey a favor and allow shim to pick the night that he loses the World Heavyweight Championship, as Rollins is now challenging Jey for the title and he will face him any time, any place. Jey decides to make the time and place right here and right now.

Backstage, Paul Heyman meets with Bron Breakker and Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and says that "Main Event" Jey Uso fell for it and wants to do the match tonight. Rollins tells Heyman "I told you so," and leaves. Heyman asks Breakker if he understands what is going on, then explains a few things to him and says Jey is not prepared for Rollins because he is too focused on Logan Paul. He then says they will be handed the keys to the kingdom when Rollins wins the World Heavyweight Championship.

Penta beats JD McDonagh after Finn Balor and Carlito get ejected from ringside and Penta takes out Chad Gable on the outside.

Backstage, Austin Theory shows up and finds out he now has a singles match as Grayson Waller is talking with General Manager Adam Pearce. After Pearce leaves, Grayson says he is better off if it is a surprise when Theory asks who his opponent is.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight fighter Anthony Smith is in the crowd.

Sheamus beats Austin Theory.

Backstage, JD McDonagh asks The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Carlito, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez) what Chad Gable was doing in the ring. As JD McDonagh says that Penta and Gable are both going to get it, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles suddenly shows up and says that whoever wins at Backlash, he will come after them for the Intercontinental Championship. Dominik realizes he has his hands are full as champion, and asks Finn for help against AJ Styles, which Finn is eager to do.

Backstage, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) meet with Chad Gable. Kofi says it is time American Made (Gable, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile) got some respect, and Woods says that American Made needs to get some opportunities. Becky Lynch suddenly shows up and heads to the ring.

Becky Lynch is in the ring. Lynch says she is the victim here and that when she took out Bayley, she took out the garbage, and that the fans should be thanking her for it. She then calls Lyra Valkyria "the recycling," and considers her as much garbage as Bayley due to her attitude. Lyra shows up and calls Becky "the queen of recycling" for using the same act and moves for years, and takes exception to Becky thinking she had anything to do with her success and that she made herself, not Becky. She says that Becky went on holiday and everyone went better while she made some history of her own and defended her title more times than Becky has been at work, and while Becky has shattered ceiling, she left the glass on the floor and had no intention of taking anyone to the top with her. Becky says that everyone had their best year because they did not have her to compare themselves to, then says she is good at her job and the greatest to ever do it, and that regardless of how good Lyra is, she will always be "the moment after the moment." Lyra starts mentioning Becky's achievements, then mentions that she, not Becky, was the first to hold the Women's Intercontinental Championship. She says that Becky hates she is the first, and hopes that she likes second place. Becky goes for a cheap shot, but Lyra gets the better of her in a brawl that referees have to break up. Becky calls this disrespect and says she did nothing wrong, and they brawl again. Becky goes for the Manhandle Slam, but Lyra counters with Nightwing.

Iyo Sky beats Roxanne Perez following a series of pinfall attempts from both women. After the match, Roxanne offers to shake Iyo's hand. Both women shake hands and bow. After the match, Roxanne offers to shake Iyo's hand. Both women shake hands and bow. When Roxanne leaves, Iyo is attacked from behind by Giulia, and Roxanne joins in, proving the handshake was a trick all along.

University of Nebraska Football Head Coach Matt Rhule and members of the football team are seen in the crowd.

Rusev beats Otis by submission with the Accolade. After the match, Akira Tozawa confronts Rusev, and Rusev says he has had enough and leaves only to turn around and slam Tozawa into Otis when Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri check on Otis. Rusev then tosses Otis around before hitting the Machka Kick and locking in the Accolade again until officials, including General Manager Adam Pearce, pull him away.

General Manager Adam Pearce is in the ring, where he welcomes Pat McAfee. McAfee enters the ring before Pearce introduces his opponent for Backlash, Gunther, who is now no longer indefinitely suspended. Pearce warns both men to keep their face-to-face meeting professional. Gunther says he will not do anything tonight and spoil anything for himself, as unlike McAfee and Michael Cole, he is professional. McAfee calls Michael Cole a commentary great, which leads to a "Michael Cole" chant, and says that for 28 years, he has dedicated himself for traveling around the world for WWE and is entitled to an opinion. McAfee puts the state of Nebraska over and calls the state a symbol of working hard and dreams coming true, then says he and Gunther have a lot in common and have had the same dreams of being in professional wrestling. He then says that Gunther has become so jaded that it has become a job for him, while for him, he gets jacked up about doing his job every single week and telling people about Gunther what they are really about. He says Gunther does not want it anymore and has gotten "too damn comfortable" to the point that he will overlook him and prove that he is soft. Gunther asks Pat McAfee if he enjoyed his birthday, then says Saturday is a special day and McAfee put him in the mood for it. He says he will show up more focused than ever before and promises that McAfee will get his full and undivided attention. He says that the bell will ring on Saturday and he will maul him, ram his skull into the mat and choke him out until he drops like a wet towel. He says that tonight, by his grace, McAfee is untouchable, but on Saturday, only the grace of God can lift his arms off his throat. Gunther shoves McAfee, then leaves.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins vs. "Main Event" Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship ends with Sami Zayn showing up following interference from Bron Breakker and CM Punk showing up with a metal folding chair striking both Breakker and Rollins with it following a Spear from Breakker to Jey Uso and after Jey Uso somehow kicks out of The Stomp. "Main Event" Jey Uso retains the World Heavyweight Championship.
