Beach Break - Dynamite recap for May 14, 2025

Don Callis guests on commentary for the next match.

Will Ospreay and "Hangman" Adam Page beat The Don Callis Family ("The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander and "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita) after Ospreay and Hangman nearly inadvertently hit each other multiple times only to hit Alexander with a simultaneous Hidden Blade and Buckshot Lariat. After the match, Takeshita knocks Ospreay into Hangman with a jumping knee, then he and Alexander go on the attack. Ospreay soon fights back, then back elbows Hangman when Hangman puts a hand on him after Ospreay thinks he is Alexander.

We see a video package for Samoa Joe vs. Jon Moxley in a steel cage match for the AEW Championship later tonight.

Backstage, Alicia Atout interviews Top Flight (Darius Martin, Dante Martin, Leila Grey). Darius Martin wants a piece of MJF, as does Dante, who makes it clear that they want the tag team titles even though The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) underestimate them, and that all it takes is three seconds. The Sons of Texas ("The Natural" Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara) show up, and Dustin says that while they will be underestimated, that is fuel for fire to prove people wrong. He says that he and Guevara will be watching.

Ricochet beats Zach Gowen after Gowen hits Ricochet with his prosthetic leg behind the referee's back but misses the top rope moonsault, allowing Ricochet to hit the Spirit Gun for the win. After the match, Ricochet hits Gowen with another Spirit Gun followed by a penalty kick to the side of the head. Suddenly, Mark Briscoe shows up, and Ricochet retreats.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews MJF. MJF says that for 406 consecutive days, he was the AEW World Champion and the greatest wrestler on God's green earth, and while he wants that back, the landscape has changed and that being "all elite" means more than ever. MJF says that he likes to work hard and that he does not want to wrestle unless he knows he can win, and if he can become part of The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley), he will not only be unstoppable, but World Champion again. When asked what will happen to him if The Hurt Syndicate say no, The Hurt Syndicate shows up, and MVP asks MJF to join them in the ring after their match.

The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) beats Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) by submission with the Hurt Lock from Lashley to Darius. After the match, Lashley refuses to let go of the hold until The Sons of Texas ("The Natural" Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara) show up and Dustin tells Lashley to let go. MVP says he has respect for Dustin and that he will not leave them laying in a pool of blood. Dustin makes it clear that they want a tag team title shot when Cru (Lio Rush and Action Andretti) shows up. Lio says The Sons of Texas are trying to be heroes, and Andretti tells them to get to stepping before their faces get rearranged. Lio then addresses The Hurt Syndicate, saying they have already beaten Top Flight, then mentions his history with Lashley before demanding a tag team titles. Dustin says they will have to go through The Sons of Texas first and learn some respect. MVP tells Cru and The Sons of Texas to go to Collision to fight it out, with the winner getting a tag team title shot at Double or Nothing. He then mentions MJF will be joining The Hurt Syndicate and getting what he deserves after the commercial break.

The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin) are still in the ring after the commercial break. MVP demands MJF join them in the ring, but when MJF does not show up when his music hits, MVP sends Shelton backstage to find him. Shelton finds MJF behind the production desk, then brings him to the ramp where the two of them head to the ring. As usual, MVP and Shelton give the thumbs up. Lashley then wraps his arm around MJF's shoulder, brings him to the center of the ring, and after some hesitation to mess with MJF, gives MJF the thumbs up. MJF celebrates by leading a "We Hurt People" chant after leaping onto and hugging Shelton. MVP announces a contract signing for MJF to officially enter The Hurt Syndicate next week.

Mina Shirakawa beat "Timeless" Toni Storm, Skye Blue and AZM in a Fatal 4-Way Match after reversing an inside cradle from Toni into one of her own. Mina Shirakawa will be facing "Timeless" Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at Double or Nothing. After the match, Mercedes Moné rushes out and punches AZM in the face before putting her in the Statement Maker. Jamie Hayter soon shows up and attacks Mercedes Moné. Security rushes in before she can hit the Hayterade. (When the match begins, Mina comes out to a new theme by Mikey Ruckus; the new theme gets such a negative reaction from fans on X (formerly Twitter) that Tony Khan switches it back and plays Mina's original theme when the match is over. The controversy gets enshrined in Botchamania 512.)

AEW acknowledges the life and career of Sabu. In memoriam, Terry Brunk "Sabu," 1964 - 2025.

Backstage, Renee Paquette MVP and MJF. MJF brings up "Smart" Mark Sterling being his lawyer and being the one to read through the contract, and it ends up being a bit of fun between MVP and MJF.

Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness are in the ring. He apologizes to Schiavone, then asks Daniel Garcia to come to the ring so he can apologize to him. McGuinness mentions what happened at Collision and apologizes for costing him the match and his share of the winner's purse. Garcia tells him to keep his apology to himself, saying that McGuinness stood up for himself when FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) tried to mess with him, and says that they would have tried to end his career like they tried to end his and Adam Copeland's careers. He says that he will fight this fight with or without McGuinness, but admits it would be an honor for McGuinness to fight alongside him. Stokely Hathaway shows up and mocks Garcia and McGuinness, calling McGuinness' actions reprehensible and egregious and wanting to know what his problem is. McGuinness says that when someone puts his hands on him, he puts his hands on them back, but Stokely says there will be repercussions and punishments for putting his hands on FTR. Stokely then says McGuinness' punishment should be him in an official match with FTR, but McGuinness knows that FTR might kill him and Garcia. Garcia says they have battling the odds for their entire careers, and proposes that they team up. Stokely then says McGuinness does not have to wrestle and can just stay behind the announce table reliving his glory days, as he cannot beat FTR as he barely beat Hepatitis. FTR then show up from underneath the ring and attack McGuinness and Garcia from behind, and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard shows up with a crowbar. FTR and Stokely retreat.

Jon Moxley retains the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match. During the match, Joe has Moxley in a sleeper hold when Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta climb up the cage wall. Willow Nightingale runs out and shoves Marina Shafir into the steel cage, knocking Claudio down and knocking down Willow in the process. As this goes on, Powerhouse Hobbs chases after and catches Wheeler Yuta before powerbombing him into the timekeeper's table. After this, a man in a hoodie hands the briefcase containing the AEW World Championship to Moxley to use as a weapon to win the match and retain the title. After the match, the man in the black hoodie is revealed to be Gabe Kidd. Shafir throws Willow Nightingale into the barricade, and Gabe Kidd helps Moxley up as The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) arrive, with Matthew holding the controls to the cage in his hand. As Nicholas goes to shake Moxley's hand, Kenny Omega shows up and fights both Wheeler and Claudio, but he is soon punched in the abdomen from behind by "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada. "Speedball" Mike Bailey briefly shows up and brawls with Okada to the back, then Matthew brings the steel cage back down so that The Young Bucks, The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir) and Gabe Kidd can all gang up on Kenny Omega and Samoa Joe. Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland soon show up, and Swerve climbs up to the top of the cage and takes everyone out. Matthew brings the steel cage back up, and The Young Bucks and The Death Riders start retreating. Swerve Strickland says that the last time he was in a steel cage, he was hit with a chair and dropped head-first on a cinder block. He then says he is the most dangerous man in AEW, then challenges The Young Bucks, The Death Riders and Gabe Kidd to Anarchy in the Arena at Double or Nothing.

Here are the highlights for tonight's show!
