Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 12, 2025

In memory of Terrance Brunk "Sabu" 1964 - 2025.

CM Punk heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Punk says that it has been three weeks since WrestleMania, yet he still cannot shake being pissed off. Punk then says he is most pissed off at himself, as this is not the first time Paul Heyman has stabbed him in the back. He talks about how Heyman hit him in the head with a ladder and left him with thirteen stitches in his head, and while "Main Event" Jey Uso tried to warn him about Heyman, Heyman is who he has always been: "a fat little snake." He says that he knows how this ends as he has been down this road before, and he cannot wait to get his hands around Heyman's neck and choke him until his eyes pop. Heyman makes his presence known, and CM Punk tell Heyman to explain why he did what he did and that the words he chooses will be his last, then Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and Bron Breakker show up. Seth Rollins says that when CM Punk cannot possibly get any more egotistical, he tops himself. He says that Heyman was Punk's best friend, yet made his life hell on the road to WrestleMania and is gaslighting everyone into believing Heyman betrayed him. Rollins says that Heyman believed in Punk for years when no one else did, then calls Punk "scum," "trash" and "human excrement" and says his belief was the right one. He says that when he thinks he cannot hate Punk any more than he already does, he realizes that Punk is the reason he is not World Heavyweight Champion. Punk says Rollins will never be champion as long as he is on two feet. Rollins thinks that Punk is a masochist and loves to play the victim, then says that if Punk really wants to be a victim, then that can be arranged, and hopes Punk has prepared his last works before siccing Breaker on him. Punk and Breakker brawl in the ring, and Rollins gets in the ring and watches before Punk fights back and gets a piece of Rollins. Breakker attacks Punk from behind, and Sami Zayn suddenly shows up to even the numbers, but he too is overpowered by Breakker. Heyman produces a metal folding chair, and Rollins is about to use it as a weapon against Sami Zayn when Jey Uso gets in the ring. Jey is overpowered briefly, but Sami and Punk make the save with chairs of their own.

Pat McAfee returns to commentary for the next match.

Penta beats Chad Gable with a Destroyer from the top rope.

We hear from Giulia and Roxanne Perez. Roxanne says they have made it clear that the Raw women's division is not safe anymore, and Giulia says Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky are strong, but they are hungry and they are here to take over. Roxanne then says that means going after the woman at the very top, as they plan to make their own history and make way for the future, which Giulia proclaims starts tonight.

Backstage, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio - who has no concept of time zones - talks with Finn Balor regarding his previous title defense. Finn admits things did not go smoothly, but tells Dominik he well take care of AJ Styles. JD McDonagh then introduces Dominik to time zones.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) guests on commentary for the next match.

Sami Zayn and CM Punk vs. Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and Bron Breakker is now official for Saturday Night's Main Event. Backstage, Sami Zayn meets with CM Punk regarding their tag team match at Saturday Night's Main Event and wants to know if they are on the same page. Punk admits he has trouble trusting people at times, but he gets it, as he used to not trust Punk. He says they both like to do things their way, but neither of them will not get anything done without Seth Rollins or Bron Breakker around.

American Made (Julius and Brutus Creed) beats The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) after Xavier Woods distracts Erik - and the referee - so that Kofi Kingston can stop the Doomsault attempt by Ivar.

Backstage, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins talks with Bron Breakker, saying that Sami Zayn, CM Punk and "Main Event" Jey Uso only think they have the upper hand. Rollins then asks Breakker to do one more thing, and whispers it in his ears. He then tells Breakker "Have some fun," before leaving the room.

We see footage from after last week's show where Logan Paul knocks out "Main Event" Jey Uso from behind the barricade and makes it known that he wants the World Heavyweight Championship. Logan Paul vs. Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship is now official for Saturday Night's Main Event.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce tells Jey Uso that whoever wins between him and Logan Paul for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event will defend the title against Gunther.

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring. Jey says he may have a big target on his big back, but he needs to get something off his big chest. He addresses Logan Paul's belittling of him and says it is just them at Saturday Night's Main Event, where he will walk out as champion. All of a sudden, Gunther shows up and says the unimaginable came true and that Jey Uso became World Heavyweight Champion, then says Jey is not used to being a champion like he is and "is not a natural champion." Gunther then announces that whoever wins between Jey Uso and Logan Paul will be the one handing the World Heavyweight Championship over to him, and one month from now, he will challenge the winner for the title. Gunther hopes that it is Jey Uso, as he wants to shut him and the fans up for good by outclassing Jey and showing him where his class is. Jey says he is in his place, and after he beats Logan, he will beat Gunther and walk out champion.

We hear from Iyo Sky, who says she tried to show Roxanne Perez last week only to be attacked from behind by Giulia. She says neither of them deserve respect, and that tonight, they will both learn just like Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley that no one can stop her and that no one will take her title.

WWE acknowledges the recent passing of ECW legend Sabu on Sunday.

Backstage, The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) are meeting with General Manager Adam Pearce when The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) show up and mock them. Pearce makes the World Tag Team Championship match a Triple Threat Match due to The New Day's constant self-insertion into others' business.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Ludwig Kaiser when "Main Event" Jey Uso is suddenly attacked by Bron Breakker. Sami Zayn and CM Punk check on Jey Uso alongside officials.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats Finn Balor after Penta shows up and beats up Carlito and JD McDonagh on the outside.

Becky Lynch is in the ring. Becky says Lyra was beaten on Saturday, not her, as Lyra went to the hospital while she basked in her brilliance, because even after everything Lyra did to her, she still made Lyra the best version of herself, gave her her best match, and made her matter like never before. She says that after the bell rang, she did not hear defeat, but an alarm ringing in her ear, because she realized how much she has been manipulated not just by Lyra but also the fans, and says she walked out for a year because the fans wanted her to. She questions why she is here if she is not winning world champions and that she has always been for the people, and says that she and the fans were in it together until she won and the fans could not deal with that. Becky says the fans hate what they cannot understand after stating that all she knows is failure, and while she missed being in the ring, she liked herself more when she was not surrounded by the fans and their lies. She says she did not have to spin her wheels to prove who she was, then says that she is whatever the fans say she is, whether it is greedy, selfish or cutthroat. Becky then proclaims that the women's locker room is about to find out that her fire is back and find out what it is like to be held down by The Man.

We hear from Rusev, who says that he does not want to do any of this and that he just wants to go home and be rich, but he was once programmed by lesser people, and he cannot leave his brothers until they all wake up. He says the fans do not care if the wrestlers miss their families or if their mission is to hurt or be hurt. He talks about how Akira Tozawa stepped up to him only to get decimate, then tells everyone to get off their knees. He says it will hurt him to hurt everyone, but he would rather they fall at his hands than to fall out into the abyss.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce meets with Akira Tozawa, who wants a match with Rusev. Sheamus shows up and gives credit to Tozawa for standing up to Rusev, then meets with Pearce. Sheamus wants to keep his momentum going with a match against Grayson Waller, and Pearce gives him the match.

Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley beat Giulia and Roxanne Perez. After the match, Rhea Ripley stares at the Women's World Championship before leaving the ring.
