The Great American Bash 2021 - NXT recap for July 6, 2021

MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) retain the NXT Tag Team Championships against Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa with a surprise inside cradle from Wes Lee to Thatcher after Carter shoves Ciampa into Thatcher to stop an ankle lock.

The battery meter reads at 91%.

Samoa Joe and NXT General Manager William Regal are in the ring. Regal says that what is going on between Johnny Gargano and Karrion Kross will not end well, and demand that both men head to the ring. Gargano arrives first, followed by Kross. Regal says that things needs to be settled between the two men. Gargano tells Kross that he sucks and that he's been living rent-free in his head for weeks, and that Kross is not even in his league and hit him with a car because he is terrified of being exposed. Regal announces that Gargano will face Kross for the NXT Championship next week. Kross answers Gargano's statements that he is afraid of him, saying he almost ran himself over because he was in the way. Kross says he is focused on keeping the NXT Championship, headlining WrestleMania and becoming WWE Champion every morning before saying Gargano just puts on his wife's jeans and that people like Gargano get beaten up by people like him. Regal then states that Samoa Joe will be the special guest referee for the match. Gargano cheers for Joe, then tells Kross that he can't lace his wife's boots. Kross almost considers attacking Gargano, but Samoa Joe stands in his way.

We hear from KUSHIDA, who says that he is proud to be Cruiserweight Champion and that he is ready to fight at anytime, even after what Diamond Mine did to him. He also says that the title shines brighter than any diamond.

LA Knight retains the Million Dollar Championship against Cameron Grimes after hitting a DDT on the Million Dollar Championship outside of the ring.

Backstage, Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. Dakota says she should be a champion right now, and says that if she has to stomp Ember Moon out, she will do it. As for Shotzi, Dakota says she and Raquel put her on the shelf once again, and Raquel says they can put her back on the shelf for good.

The competitors of the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament - Trey Baxter, Carmelo Hayes, Andre Chase, Josh Briggs, Ikemen Jiro, Joe Gacy, Odyssey Jones and Duke Hudson - are seen on the stage. The tournament begins next week.

Zoey Stark and Io Shirai beat The Way (Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell) to become the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions! During the match, the arena goes dark and the battery meter shows up on the TitanTron reading at 100%. The lights then come on, and Tegan Nox is on the stage, appearing in NXT for the first time in a year. After the match, Tegan Nox beats up Candice LeRae.

Backstage, Toni Storm says she deserves a championship match, then says Raquel Gonzalez knows that if she faces her, she will beat her for the NXT Championship. She then goes on to say Sarray may want a match with her, but Sarray is not on her level.

In footage from moments ago, Dexter Lumis is seen carrying Indi Hartwell to the back.

Hit Row (Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla, B-Fab) celebrate Isaiah "Swerve" Scott winning the NXT North American Championship with a championship celebration cypher (another name for a freestyle rap). As Ashante "Thee" Adonis DJs, B-Fab starts it off with some rapping, followed by Top Dolla, who says that Hit Row will take on all comers and that nobody is hotter than them. Swerve raps, then says he will be making new classics as North American Champion before Hit Row provides a group performance.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Samoa Joe and NXT General Manager William Regal. Regal says tonight's show has been wonderful, and that he is looking forward to next week. Joe says that he has no problem refereeing Johnny Gargano vs. Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship, and says that as long as he is not provoked, everything should be okay. He then says "May the best man win."

Adam Cole beats Kyle O'Reilly.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
