Generation NXT - NXT recap for May 29, 2019

Mia Yim beats Bianca Belair after grabbing Bianca's ponytail to hit Protect Ya Neck.

We hear from Velveteen Dream, who cuts a promo on Tyler Breeze with a selfie stick and a smartphone camera. He says he remembers him, and says his move to the main roster was the last time he got a standing ovation. He asks Tyler if he remembers what the spotlight feels like, and says that the spotlight is a little too hot for Breeze and that everyone has upgraded their cellular plan to the Velveteen Dream. He says that while Breeze has had a career, it is not worthy of a return to NXT for the NXT North American Championship. He also says that Breeze has never held gold and never will.

In footage from earlier today, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler says that Io Shirai can't use weapons at NXT TakeOver XXV and that Shirai has run out of friends while she still has hers.

KUSHIDA beats Drew Gulak in a very technical match. After the match, a peeved Gulak calls KUSHIDA a coward before leaving.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Io Shirai, who says that she is not "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler or her friends, and that she won't need a Kendo stick to beat Baszler. Candice LeRae shows up to thank Shirai for having her back last week, and tells her that she has her back at TakeOver XXV.

We see a video package chronicling the history of Johnny Gargano as NXT Champion leading up to his championship defense against Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver XXV.

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) ends in a no-contest. During the match, Jaxson Ryker gets ejected by the referee after getting caught yanking on Oney Lorcan's ankle to give The Forgotten Sons an advantage. As he heads to the back, he is attacked by Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), who then rush into the rink to attack Blake and Cutler. After Blake and Cutler are sent out of the ring, Street Profits brawl with Lorcan and Burch, but Blake and Cutler attack both teams with steel chairs. Suddenly, Adam Cole and Roderick Strong show up and attack Jaxson Ryker on the stage before tossing him off, then bait out Blake and Cutler, who are then attacked by Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. The Undisputed Era (Cole, Fish, O'Reilly, Strong) attack The Forgotten Sons in the ring, then Adam Cole pulls out a ladder so that The Undisputed Era can attack Ryker on it in the ring. They then set the ladder up so that Cole can climb up the ladder and tell both Matt Riddle and Johnny Gargano that their defeat at TakeOver XXV is undisputed.
