Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 27, 2018

Roman Reigns shows up to start tonight's show. Roman said he told Braun Strowman he would meet him at the start of the show, and he did not win the Universal Championship to hold it; instead, he is here to defend. If Braun doesn't show up, then this match will be the "Shield Workhorse Open Challenge." It doesn't take long for Braun Strowman to arrive, and he laughs at the term "workhorse" after Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins saved him last week. Roman says The Shield is a brotherhood of workhorse, and that nobody tells them what to do. He says they made their choice and know what it's like at the top of the mountain while Braun has no clue, and that while Braun's hands have lifted objects, his hands have lifted every title in WWE. He then tells Braun to step up and have their title fight tonight. Braun says he isn't cashing in tonight, because they and everyone knows that if he did, Ambrose and Rollins would try to save Roman again. Instead, he makes a deal: he will not cash in until September 16th, and all Roman has to do is show up for a Hell In A Cell Match, a place where they have never been before. Roman says that Braun is starting to sound like a monster, and offers his hand. Braun and Roman shake hands, then Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre show up. Ziggler complains about losing the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Seth Rollins after help from Dean Ambrose, saying the title was stolen from him. He says Seth has been playing catch-up since day one, and when he invokes his rematch clause, it will be on his terms as he and McIntyre will prove themselves to the entire world. McIntyre then says Strowman and Roman are a different story. Ziggler says he and McIntyre need a new challenge, and they're it. McIntyre mentions that Strowman and Roman sit at the top of the red brand mountain, but as they sit at the top, the only way to go is "tumblin' on down." Ziggler says they'd be more than happy to have that happen for them tonight. Roman says they sound tough from the stage, but they can get in the ring if they want to do it right now. Suddenly, Acting General Manager Baron Corbin shows up. Corbin tells everyone to settle down, and says this is why Commissioner Stephanie McMahon made him Acting General Manager. He announces Strowman's cash-in at Hell In A Cell is approved. He then makes a match that nobody could have dreamed up and will take Raw to the next level: McIntyre and Ziggler vs. Strowman and Roman. Strowman tells Roman that at Hell In A Cell, he is taking the Universal title, but tonight, Ziggler and McIntyre will get these hands. After everyone else leaves, Baron Corbin brags that he is an improvement over Kurt Angle as a General Manager, and for his third match, he makes one Angle didn't have the guts to make: himself vs. Finn Balor, the man. He says that he has prepared for this match for the last week while Finn Balor has just found out, and that match is next. Balor eventually shows up after Corbin keeps calling him out.

Finn Balor beats Baron Corbin by disqualification after Corbin uses a steel chair as a weapon...almost. After the match, Corbin says he forgot to make this match a no-disqualification match, and restarts the match as such. He hits Finn in the back with a steel chair, then hits End of Days to get the win.

We hear from legendary and Hall of Fame Superstars concerning The Undertaker vs. Triple H for the last time ever at Super Show-Down.

Next week: "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels sounds off on The Undertaker vs. Triple H at Super Show-Down!

Backstage, Apollo Crews recommends to Dana Brooke to stick to the fundamentals in her match. Titus O'Neil shows up and mentions that her match is up next, and that it is against Sasha Banks. After Dana leaves, Apollo is concerned that Dana has had only one match in the last nine months, but Titus is still confident about her chances.

Sasha Banks beats Dana Brooke with the Banks Statement.

Backstage, Dean Ambrose is met by Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh. Jinder says he has sensed a great anger in him since his return and that he can guide him to spirituality instead of brutality. As he tries to guide Dean to inner peace, he asks Dean what he sees. Dean says he sees himself kicking Jinder in the teeth and breaking his face and his ribs before Jinder cries in pain. He then tells Jinder to get out of his face.

Seth Rollins shows up. Seth says that lat week was about taking care of some family business, and says The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Rollins, Roman Reigns) prides themselves on being workhorses and fighting champion. This week is Intercontinental Championship business, but since Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, his dance card is wide open. He then issues an open challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship for anyone in the locker room who has the guts. The challenge is answered by Kevin Owens. Owens says he is so glad that Rollins is happy, but since he himself has come back to Raw, his life has been a living hell. He has wished to come back after being moved to SmackDown Live, but since then, things have not been good. He says that Rollins had a good SummerSlam only had his best friend by his side, and says that if he had his friend by his side, he would have beaten Braun Strowman and become WWE Universal Champion right here, right now. Unfortunately, Sami Zayn has been injured at the hands of a brute, and tonight, his awful summer will come to an end when he leaves with the WWE Intercontinental Championship tonight. He then says Montreal, Quebec, Canada would be a better place to win than in Toronto, Ontario, Canada before speaking French, then tells Rollins he is taking his title right now.

Seth Rollins retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens after Owens misses big on a top rope moonsault.

Backstage, Acting General Manager Baron Corbin is met by Braun Strowman. He hands the Money In The Bank contract to him, and tells him to bring it to Hell In A Cell.

Kevin Owens is still in the ring after his loss to Seth Rollins, sitting in a steel chair with a microphone in his hand. He simply says "I quit," throws the microphone away and walks off to the back.

Backstage, Renee Young interviews Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Ziggler says that to change the game, you make make your moves at the right time. A windows has opened in front of them, and tonight, they make their move to the top of the food chain. Backstage, Renee Young interviews Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Ziggler says that to change the game, you make make your moves at the right time. A windows has opened in front of them, and tonight, they make their move to the top of the food chain. McIntyre says Roman and Strowman not as kings of the jungle, but as small wounded animals ready for slaughter.

The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) beat The B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) after an accidental inside cradle reversal fails. After the match, The Revival hits Bo Dallas with a Shatter Machine as he checks on Curtis Axel. They then take the Raw tag team titles into the ring. Dawson says over the last few months, the tag team division has been a joke due to the B-Team. Wilder says they are tired of The B-Team making a mockery of the history of tag team wrestling. Dawson tells The B-Team to hold on to the tag team titles, as they just proved they can take the titles away from them any time they want to.

It is announced that SummerSlam 2019 will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Elias is in the ring. Elias plays guitar for the Toronto, Ontario, Crowd, then says everyone is gathered to see who wants to walk with him. He then says the fans will be tested and times will be tough, but as long as they do not stray from the universal truth that WWE stands for "Walk With Elias," they will be okay. Suddenly, Elias has an epiphany, and says that when Drake sang about staring from the bottom, he said that Toronto, Ontario, Canada was the bottom and there is no city lower than it. He says that he has been told that there is no bigger disappointment in life than going from New York City to Toronto, then all of a sudden, Trish Stratus shows up. Elias says things have changed since she left and that he is kind of a big deal, and while Trish is a big fan of his music, she wants him to silence his cellphone, turn off his camera and shut his mouth if he is going to badmouth Toronto. Elias says one of his performances is like the Stanley Cup as Toronto will never see it in their lifetime. Trish says that Elias will never win the WWE Championship in his lifetime. Trish then admits that after she retired and took her place in the WWE Hall of Fame, she never imagined that we would be less than two months from an all-women's WWE pay-per-view and that she would face Alexa Bliss in it. Elias hopes it will be a "swimsuit model pillow fight," but Trish tells him to pack up his guitar, take his floral kimono and scarves and walk up the ramp to the back. Elias says Trish is only here because she wants to walk with him just like thousands of other women, then breaks it to her that he "doesn't date women in their 60s." Trish slaps him for that, then "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey shows up. Natalya soon joins her on the stage, and they both head to the ring for the next match.

Before the next match, Alexa Bliss makes fun of Natalya, Trish Stratus and "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey. She compiments Trish Stratus on the yoga program before telling her all the yoga won't save her from the beatdown she will give her at Evolution. As for Rousey, she failed to break her arm so that she couldn't face her again, and she is not only medically cleared, she is invoking her rematch clause at Hell In A Cell. Alexa tells Ronda to enjoy the moment, because she is taking the Raw Women's title back. As for Natalya, they have a friend that she and Trish know all too well: Mickie James, who joins Alexa and Alicia on the way to the ring.

Natalya beats Alicia Fox with the Sharpshooter after Trish Stratus and "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey force Alexa Bliss and Mickie James to run away through the crowd. After the match, Natalya pays tribute to her late father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart before she, Trish and Ronda celebrate in the ring.

Backstage, Natalya, Trish Stratus and "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey are met by The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella). They are happy for Trish's return as well as Ronda's success, and next week, they are back in action. The five of them celebrate with a group selfie.

We see more legendary and Hall of Fame Superstar reactions to Triple H vs. The Undertaker taking place one last time at Super Show-Down.

Acting General Manager Baron Corbin talks with Commissioner Stephanie McMahon on the phone about Kevin Owens' recent "I quit" statement, then asks for a masseuse. He is suddenly met by Bobby Lashley. Corbin brags about beating Finn Balor, but Lashley calls him out for changing the rules on the fly before asking why he was brought in. Corbin says he does not want to be forgotten, and says he has a match right now. As for his opponent, Corbin doesn't know who it is.

Before the next match, Acting General Manager Baron Corbin shows up on the TitanTron and finally remembers the name of Lashley's opponent...or rather, opponents, as it is a 2-on-1 handicap match against The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor).

Bobby Lashley beats The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) in a 2-on-1 handicap match.

Dean Ambrose beats Jinder Mahal.

Roman Reigns is met by Braun Strowman in the locker room. Strowman admits they don't like each other, but Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre are going to get destroyed before Roman has 20 days to think about him destroying him at Hell In A Cell. Roman says that on day 21, Strowman will be looking in the mirror after he fails to get the job done.

Next week: The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella) vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan)! The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) vs. The B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships!

Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman vs. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre ends in a no-contest when Strowman refuses to get in the ring after being tagged in and Ziggler and McIntyre continue to stomp on Roman Reigns. After the match, Strowman grabs Roman Reigns and beats him up, then directs traffic and has Ziggler and McIntyre go to town on Roman. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins run in to make the save for Roman, but they are both easily overpowered. All three members of The Shield (Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns) fall victim to running powerslams from Strowman before Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre celebrate to end the show.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
