Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for August 23, 2018

Eddie Edwards shows up to start tonight's show. Eddie says that he is an honest man, and that he can admit that for the last two weeks, he has gotten his ass kicked. He says that he was down, but he has picked himself up, dusted himself off and is once again standing in the ring looking for a fight. Eddie says he has been called every name in the book, and while he may be all or none of those things, he is just a man, and no person would be able to go through what he has been through with his wife, getting hit with a baseball bat, Sami Callihan or Tommy Dreamer without coming out the same person, and says that he loves what he has become: a person with nothing to lose as well as a dangerous person. Eddie goes on to say that he has had a vision of himself swinging a Kendo stick through the air and cracking it off the skulls of Austin Aries and Killer Kross, and proposes that his dream come true tonight. He then calls out Aries and Kross, saying they can either come down to the ring or he can find them himself. Aries and Kross show up, and Aries says that is no problem. He even says that he and Kross will make it easier for him, and tells Eddie he had his chance and he blew it. He also tells Eddie he is crazy, stupid and dangerous, then says he found someone who is crazier and more dangerous. Aries then tells Eddie that if he wants to fight somebody, he and Kross will make it easy for him, and tell him that if he has a chance against him and Kross with a Kendo stick, he has another thing coming. Before Aries can finish that statement, however, Eddie tosses the Kendo stick to Kross and punches Aries in the head before taking the Kendo stick and hitting Kross in the back of the leg with it. Aries eventually hits a chop block on Eddie, and Kross and Aries put Eddie in a submission hold at the same before referees rush in. Kross scares all of the referees away, then Aries grabs a steel chair and puts it around Eddie's neck. He is about to swing another steel chair into the first one when Moose shows up - his first appearance since Slammiversary - with a steel chair of his own, forcing Aries and Kross to retreat.

We hear from oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Sami Callihan). Sami tells Dave he should be upset with Pentagon Jr., as everything that has happened to them recently is Pentagon Jr.'s fault, then says he and Pentagon Jr. will settle the score once and for all. As Sami speaks, Jake Crist is mimicking him to the letter.

Backstage, Moose tells Eddie Edwards that he has his back, and that they will take care of Austin Aries and Killer Kross. Meanwhile, Alisha Edwards shows up, and Eddie thinks he and Alisha are back together. Alisha tells him that's not true, and that she has a match to get ready for.

Before the next match, Sydal states that life had felt like "an impossible assignment" since losing the X Division Championship until last week, when he experienced enlightenment. He says that transcendence is ineffable and that it is his duty to awaken all beings on earth.

"Reborn" Matt Sydal beats Zachary Wentz.

Backstage, The Cult of Lee (Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley) celebrate their recent success with Eli Drake, but Eli Drake tells them that they are not exactly friends, and that he picked them to do one thing for him, and he did all the work while they just stood there. He tells The Cult of Lee that they can now take a walk as neither of them could beat Joe Hendry or the two men who step out of a nearby set of double doors. The Cult of Lee challenge these two men to a fight, and Trevor Lee says they will prove that Eli Drake is their best friend when they beat them in the ring. Eli Drake, totally not believing what he is seeing, says he has to see this before leaving.

It is announced that for the first time ever, Impact Wrestling TV tapings will take place in Mexico City, Mexico on September 13th and 14th.

We hear from "The Machine" Brian Cage, who says he came to Impact Wrestling because the company was going somewhere and he knew that he could stand out there and be better than anyone else. He boasts about his two victories against Lashley, and says nobody can do what he does in the ring. He says he came to Impact to take over the X Division and bring in a new era for the division. Cage admits that he has nothing bad to say about Fenix, but says that he can do whatever Fenix can do and that Fenix will learn that at Redefined.

This week's GWN Flashback Moment of the Week is "The Cowboy" James Storm vs. Christopher Daniels, which sees the return of AJ Styles.

In footage from earlier today, Fallah Bahh gives KM a gift. The gift is a bag with Fallah Baah's face on it, and when he looks inside, a surprised KM asks if the contents are really going to help them win a match.

We see a video package chronicling the events leading to tonight's Mexican Death Match between Sami Callihan and Pentagon Jr.

Before the next match, KM shows up in a pair of trunks similar to Fallah Bahh's. On the way to the ring, Bahh has KM take off his boots. It is also noticed that while Bahh has a panda on his trunks, KM has a ferret.

Fallah Bahh and KM - now finally on the same page - beat The Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju and Gursinder Singh).

Backstage, Katarina and Joe Hendry talk with Grado. Katarina is concerned about Grado losing matches, but Joe Hendry feels that Grado will get a win next week. Katarina and Hendry leave, but Grado suddenly hears smoke gushing out. Behind him is "The Smoke Show" Scarlett Bordeaux, who invites him to her show to help him with his women problems in exchange for doing something for her and Bob Kapoor (aka "Bobo"). That something is Grado pole dancing in front of Bob and Bordeaux.

Kiera Hogan beats Alisha Edwards. After the match, Allie congratulates Kiera on her victory tonight, and while she doesn't want to take away from her win, she has something to say. Allie calls out Su Yung again for taking Madison Rayne and Rosemary away as well as forcing her into the darkness, which she admits changed her and showed her her purpose of putting an end to Su Yung. However, every time she tries to do that, she has to look over her shoulder for Tessa Blanchard, so it seems all she can do is get both Blanchard and Su Yung in the ring with her at the same time. She then challenges both of them to a three-way match next week.

We see footage from earlier today where Johnny Impact is attacked by Kongo Kong at a pool party in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Johnny fights back with a leather belt, and sends Kongo Kong into the pool.

We see a video package chronicling the events leading up to the three-way match between Allie, Tessa Blanchard and Su Yung, which is now official for next week.

In footage from earlier today, Alicia interviews Rich Swann, who has now signed a long-term contract with Impact Wrestling. Swann says Impact is one of the hottest companies with the biggest buzzes right now, and he wanted to be part of something special. Now that he is in Impact, his ultimate goal is to win the X Division Championship. He says he has seen some of the greats that have shaped the division and held the title. Next week, he will face "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams at Redefined. Swann says he has been getting ready for the match, and he plans on setting himself in stone and putting his name in lights.

We hear from Pentagon Jr., who tells Sami Callihan that he is the king of the Mexican Death Match, a match about honor, dignity, pride and respect. He plans to make Callihan respect him and inflict so much pain on him.

Alicia interviews Austin Aries and Killer Kross. Aries says he thought he was done with Moose after Slammiversary and that he would have some sense slammed into him, and says the first time, he crushed his dreams. This time, he and Kevin Kross will end Moose's career. He says Moose could not beat him last time, and asks what makes him think he can do it now before challenging Moose and Eddie Edwards to a tag team match next week. Kross screams "One week!" into the microphone three times.

Eli Drake guests on commentary for the next match.

Brandon Tidwell and Mr. Atlantis get an upset win on The Cult of Lee (Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley) as Brandon Tidwell counters the Gravy Train from Caleb Konley with a schoolboy pin.

The Latin-American Xchange (Konnan, Santana, Ortiz) return from their street fight with the tag team titles with much fanfare from people on the street. Meanwhile, The OG'z (King, Homicide, Hernandez) are seen driving around the city. Konna tells Santana and Ortiz that they won't have to deal with The OG'z again any time soon, and says he has a surprise for them in his car. As they head to the car, a kid named Richie gets run over by The OG'z.

Sami Callihan beats Pentagon Jr. in a Mexican Death Match with a piledriver off the top rope into a table.
