Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for August 16, 2018

In memory of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, 1955 - 2018.

Fenix beats Sami Callihan after Pentagon Jr. shows up to stop interference by oVe (Jake and Dave Crist).

We see a video package chronicling the events leading up to the Street Fight between The Latin-American Xchange (Santana and Ortiz) and The OG'z (Homicide and Hernandez) later tonight.

Backstage, Fenix finds out he will be facing "The Machine" Brian Cage for the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship. He feels great, and feels his next big challenge is coming in the form of that match. He tells Cage that he has never felt the real "Animo" of lucha libre. Suddenly, Cage shows up, lifts up the X Division title, then puts it back over his shoulder and walks away.

The GWN Flashback Moment of the Week is Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother D-Von) and America's Most Wanted ("The Cowboy" James Storm and "Wildcat" Chris Harris) vs. The Main Event Mafia (Scott Steiner and Booker T) and The British Invasion (Douglas William and Rob Terry) in an eight-man tag match that ends in a brawl that makes its way to the outside of the arena and also has the police getting involved.

Alicia interviews Allie and Kiera Hogan. Allie says her non-title match against Su Yung about more than the title, and that she will not be distracted by Tessa Blanchard, the Knockouts title or the undead bridesmaids that will accompany Su Yung. Kiera Hogan tells Allie not to worry about anything, as she will have her back in the ring. Allie also said she made a promise that nobody was going to be stuffed inside a casket, and the only way to keep it is to put an end to Su Yung. She says this match is for Madison Rayne, Rosemary and her soul, and that she made a promise and intends to keep it.

Before the next match, Jimmy Jacobs says he knows what people think when they see him: a small man hiding behind a big monster as well as a soft person who is not capable of bad things. He says the fans could not be any further from the truth, as a couple of weeks ago, Johnny Impact made the biggest mistake of his life when he sucker punched him in the face. He says that he may be a small man and that he is a good guy, but tonight, he dares Johnny Impact to get in the ring with him, for tonight, he is the monster. When Johnny Impact shows up, he is suddenly attacked from behind by Kongo Kong and laid out on the entrance ramp before throwing him into the ring.

Johnny Impact beats Jimmy Jacobs by disqualification after Kongo Kong hits Johnny with a spike piledriver in the ring, proving that the match was just a ruse by Jacobs and Kongo Kong to take out Johnny Impact again. After the match, Kongo Kong nearly hits Johnny Impact with a powerbomb on the steel steps, but Johnny fights back, but when he goes for a Tornado DDT on the ramp, Kongo Kong blocks it and tosses Johnny back into the ring. Johnny goes for the move one more time, and this time, it connects. Jimmy Jacobs then hits Johnny with a steel chair shot to the back, but it has no effect, and when Jimmy runs away, Johnny stays one step ahead of him, using his parkour skills to make sure he cannot run away. Johnny then kicks Jimmy in the face before ramming the steel steps into Jimmy's face, knocking him unconscious.

Backstage, KM and Fallah Bahh run into each other, and get in an argument over who gets to date "The Smoke Show" Scarlett Bordeaux when they suddenly see her. After she asks who gets to sit next to her, KM and Fallah Bahh get in a shoving match over who does, and KM wins while giving her Fallah Bahh's champagne. Scarlett spits it out upon drinking it, saying she only drinks Rosé and that "Moët is for side chicks." After this, it's time for The Smoke Show, and both men are the guests. Scarlett asks about the fact that KM and Fallah Bahh are not o n the same page. KM says he has tried to take Fallah Bahh under his wing and have him do things his way, but Fallah does not listen. KM gets worked up, but Scarlett calms him down and proposes trying things Fallah's way. KM, thinking that Scarlett is trying to start something, says that he has seen women like Scarlett before and that she could not pay him all the gold in China to like her, but Scarlett quietly shuts him up and tells him they should try things her way. KM says he can be more flexible and says he can be more like Fallah Bahh, then leaves. Fallah Bahh simply says "Bahh," to Scarlett only for Scarlett to slap him and say "That's disgusting!"

Austin Aries shows up. He says today is a great day to be great, as he is still Impact World Champion and the last time he was in the ring, he delivered on his promise to beat Eddie Edwards in the middle of the ring. Since then, however, he has been bombarded with questions as to why he has aligned himself with Killer Kross and what their relationship is. Aries says that unlike a lot of people in this business, Killer Kross can speak for himself, and he introduces his "new insurance policy," Killer Kross, who shows up. Kross says he told the world several weeks ago that he was the new beginning,a nd with new beginnings, things change. He says there are people fear change, and says those people need to be hurt because this is "the hurt business." He says the only person who understands the situation is Austin Aries, and while they are very different in this "social experiment of mayhem," they both thrive at making change and shoving it down everyone's throat whether they like it or not, for in the end, "everyone pays the toll." Aries that everyone who has recently crossed him not only "paid the toll," but they got "Krossed out." Aries says that from the moment he stepped back into Impact Wrestling, he was focused on making change, but in the end, only one man can change so much. He then says you're only as good as the people you surround yourself with, and he made sure that the man who had his back was the best. Aries then says that if people thought he was unbeatable before, he is both unbeatable and unstoppable now, and that Eddie Edwards found that out the hard way. He also tells Eddie Edwards that if he handled his Kendo stick half as well as he thought he did, then maybe his wife Alisha Edwards would not have left him and slid into his DM's. Aries then dares anyone else who wants to take him on to step up and get Krossed out. As Aries and Kross leave, Eddie shows up, and Aries dares him to get in the ring with him and Kross. Eddie gets in the ring and swings his Kendo stick at Kross, but Kross takes all the shots. He goes for a punch, but Eddie hits him with a cutter. Aries begs Eddie off, and Kross grabs at Eddie's ankle so that Aries can hit Eddie with a cheap shot. Kross then puts Eddie in the Kross Jacket, putting him to sleep. Aries then lifts up the Impact World Championship over a downed Eddie.

We see footage from during the break where Eddie Edwards is talking to himself, saying he is more than willing to face Aries and Kross again. Alisha Edwards shows up to check on Eddie, but Eddie refuses to admit that he is crazy and Alisha walks away.

Before the next match, we see a music video where Joe Hendry makes fun of Eli Drake and The Cult of Lee (Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley).

Eli Drake beats Joe Hendry after the referee is distracted by Trevor Lee following an interference attempt by Caleb Konley and Grado inadvertently distracts Hendry. After the match, more tension is seen between Grado, Katarina and Hendry as Katarina confronts Grado for costing Hendry the match.

We see "Reborn" Matt Sydal meditating and looking back on his recent losses to both Petagon Jr and "The Machine' Brian Cage. Suddenly, his third eye is opened.

We see an advertisement for The Uncivil War - a partnership between Impact Wrestling and New Generation Wrestling - that will be live on twitch.com/impactwrestling this Sunday at 4 PM Eastern, 3 PM central.

We hear from oVe (Jake Crist, Dave Crist, Sami Callihan). Sami says he is in a terrible mood, and that there is only remedy for this: beating Pentagon Jr. once and for all, as everything that has happened to him as of late is all his fault. He proposes that they end this once and for all Pentagon Jr. style, and beating him in his style of match: a Mexican Death Match where only one man will walk out.

Next week: "The Machine" Brian Cage speaks for the first time!

Allie beats Su Yung by disqualification after the undead bridesmaids lay out Kiera Hogan and Tessa Blanchard attacks Allie from behind. As Tessa continues to attack Allie, she falls victim to a Mandible Claw. Allie superkicks Tessa, then does the same to Su Yung.

Redefined is happening in two weeks!

It is announced that oVe (Jake and Dave Crist) and Fenix will be barred from ringside in the Mexican Death Match between Sami Callihan and Pentagon Jr. next week.

The Latin-American Xchange (Santana and Ortiz) beat The OG'z (Homicide and Herandez) in a Street Fight and take the Impact Tag Team Championships back from them. After the match, King dares Konnan to take him out once and for all, betting he will not do it, but Konnan says "With pleasure, motherfucker!" before striking him in the side of the neck, ending the show.
