Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for May 18, 2017

The Latin-American Xchange (Santana and Ortiz) beat Laredo Kid and Garza Jr. to continue to the next round of the Global Force Wrestling Tag Team Championship Tournament after Diamante gets involved in the match.

Josh Mathews is ticked off again, this time with the fans.

Magnus confronts Bruce Prichard for putting him in a match with Matt Morgan before he faced Alberto El Patron, and blames Prichard for him losing the Global Force Wrestling Global Championship. Prichard says he had nothing to do with him tapping out to the Cross Arm Breaker, and until Magnus gets himself back into title contention, there is nothing he can do for him.

We see a video package of last week's brawl between Kongo Kong and Braxton Sutter.

Kongo Kong beats Braxton Sutter. After the match, KM and Sienna attack Sutter while Laurel Van Ness holds Allie back, but Mahabali Shera shows up and wants a piece of Kongo Kong. Sutter gets his hands on the microphone and calls KM out, wanting KM and Kongo Kong in a tag team match against him and Mahabali Shera next week.

We see a video package about the history of the X Division.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Karen Jarrett, who makes a mixed tag match between the team of Eddie and Alicia Edwards and the team of Davey Richards and Angelina Love official for next week. Magnus shows up and then heads in another direction, and Karen wants to know where he is going.

Magnus guests on commentary for the next match. Before the match begins, "The Cowboy" James Storm tries to hit Ethan Carter III with a leather belt, but EC3 rolls out of the ring and gets back in for a sneak attack as soon as Storm turns his back

"The Cowboy" James Storm beats Ethan Carter III by disqualification after EC3 tries to use Storm's leather belt as a weapon only for referee Brian Stifler to take it away from him, resulting in EC3 beating him up and whipping him in the back with it. During the match, as James Storm tries to use his leather strap again (but cannot), Magnus stands up from commentary and gets ejected by referees and Bruce Prichard as a result. After the match, Storm hits EC3 with a Backstabber and tries to hit him with the Last Call Superkick only for Magnus to rush back into the ring and grab his leg, dragging him out of the ring. As security shows up and tells Magnus to leave again, Magnus gets in the ring and argues with EC3. Bruce Prichard shows up, and after showing his displeasure with not having a main event for Slammiversary 15, he re-signs EC3 vs. Storm to for next week to decide a #1 contender for the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship...and adds Magnus into the mix to make it a three-way dance. After Magnus leaves, Prichard tells EC3 to find a mirror again so he can find his balls. This angers EC3, who assaults Prichard in retaliation.

We see a video package of how Rockstar Spud is doing. Next week, he defies doctors' orders to get his hands on Swoggle for attacking him with a hammer.

Sienna retains the Global Force Wrestling Women's Championship against ODB.

Jeremy Borash shows up with papers in his hand. He thanks the fans for their support, then announces that due to the attorney he has hired, he is reinstated to commentary immediately. When Josh Mathews asks who the attorney is, it is none other than Joseph Park, who has not been seen in Impact Wrestling in quite some time. Park announces that Borash will return to and retain his position as lead announcer on commentary. Josh insults Joseph Park, saying everyone knows he is Abyss. Joseph Park responds by saying he now wants to fight him, and that Borash wants to fight him, too. He challenges Josh Mathews to a tag team match at Slammiversary 15, and an angry Josh Mathews leaves to find a tag team partner in the back.

Low-Ki retains the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship against Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett in an Ultimate X Match.
