Generation NXT - NXT recap for May 17, 2017

We see footage from earlier today of Bobby Roode with a man carrying his bags outside of Full Sail University.

Drew McIntyre beats Sean Maluta. After the match, Kayla Braxton interview McIntyre, who says he is not worried about getting Wesley Blake's attention as he would rather get the attention of the NXT fans. Next week, he will give Wesley Blake his full, undivided attention in the ring.

We see footage from after NXT last week where SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain, Nikki Cross) attacks Roderick Strong. After the show, Strong tells General Manager William Regal that he wants SAnitY.

Eric Young tells Roderick Strong he is crazy to want to take on SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain, Nikki Cross) at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, and accepts his challenge.

We look back at Hideo Itami's NXT debut.

We revisit "The Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate in the finals of the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament, and see Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne now. Dunne says he will crush Bate's dream, but Bate says he's beaten Dunne once and that he will do it again.

We see another vignette for "The Velveteen Dream" Patrick Clark.

We look back at March 27, 2015, where Hideo Itami used the GTS against Tyler Breeze.

We see footage of an interview from earlier today where Asuka does not care at all about her opposition at NXT TakeOver: Chicago...or the interview, for that matter.

Sonya Deville beats Lacey Evans. (Sonya Deville has performed on NXT under her real name from Tough Enough, Daria Berenato.)

We look back to last month, where Hideo Itami made his return to NXT and aimed his championship sights on Bobby Roode.

Kassius Ohno beats Andrade "Cien" Almas.

Next week: Aleister Black is in action!

We look back at last week's episode, where Hideo Itami became #1 contender for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Chicago.

Bobby Roode shows up. Everywhere he goes, people are talking about Hideo Itami, and admits Hideo Itami knocked him out a few weeks ago. He tells him he hopes he enjoyed that moment as it will not happen again, and that at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, he will be ready to wrestle and will be ready to make an example out of him. He compares their careers, saying Hideo Itami has injured himself again and again while he has taken NXT to new heights, and says Itami will be crying to his wife and kids saying he failed again. Hideo Itami shows up, but General Manager William Regal and security stop him and tell him to come to the back. Itami slips through them and gets Roode, then makes quick work of the security detail. As Itami focuses on another member of security, Roode rushes into the ring and attacks him from behind, but it isn't long before Itami is able to hit the GTS on Roode to end the show.
