Mayhem 1999 - The Results

"The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Jeff Jarrett to move on to the finals of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship tournament. During the match, Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald) show up, and one of them drag Benoit of the ring and distracts referee Charles Robinson while the other attacks Benoit. Dustin Rhodes climbs out of the crowd and evens the odds for Benoit. Creative Control tosses a guitar to Jarrett, but Benoit grabs it instead and smashes it into Jarrett's head to go to the finals. After the match, Jarrett and Creative Control attack take the boots to Benoit, and WCW security has to get all three men back to the back.

Mike Tenay interviews Disco Inferno, Disco is attacked by Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald), who have to be held back by members of the WCW locker room.

Tony Marinara guests on commentary for the next match.

Evan Karagias beats Disco Inferno to become the WCW Cruiserweight Championship and earn $25,000 of Disco Inferno's money. During the match, Tony Marinara leaves commentary and tries to entice Madusa with his watch. When Karagias confronts him, Disco Inferno tries to hit Karagias with a chair only to accidentally knocks Tony Marinara. After the match, Karagias celebrates by sharing a kiss with Madusa.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is seen entering the building.

Jeff Jarrett is chewed out by Vince Russo, who tells him that if he does not prove his worthy by the end of the night, his favors are over.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Screamin'" Norman Smiley, who is decked out in a Toronto Maple Leafs uniform. He has come prepared, and says he is a hardcore warrior and that he is prepared. When he hears something metal drop, it scares the heck out of him.

"Screamin'" Norman Smiley beats Brian Knobbs to become the inaugural WCW Hardcore Champion! The match comes to an end when Jimmy Hart gets the elevator back open only to inadvertently hits Knobbs with a trash can. After the match, Knobbs beats Jimmy Hart up.



Mike Tenay interviews The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Asya). Shane Douglas explores the possibilities of Asya destroying The Filthy Animals (Konnan, Rey Mysterio Jr., Kidman, Eddie Guerrero, Torrie Wilson) well as well as Torrie Wilson going against the entire Revolution, and says the fans should be worried about that. Malenko says that "what if" has been the start of questions for centuries, while Saturn says The Filthy Animals will be exterminated just like the dinosaurs, explaining his strange spiel off with the "what if" theme started by Shane Douglas.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Filthy Animals (Konnan, Rey Mysterio Jr., Kidman, Eddie Guerrero, Torrie Wilson). He says The Revolution tried to put Rey out of commission, but The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Asya) will be put down for the count. Kidman and Torrie agree that she is not afraid of fighting THe Revolution, and says she is not afraid to face Asya, and once she takes her down, she won't know who to tag in to finish The Revolution off.

Backstage, Disco Inferno apologizes to Tony Marinara, who says he is coming tomorrow and bringing the boys.

Jeff Jarrett is carrying a 2x4 as he is accompanied by Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald).

Shane Douglas guests on commentary for the next match.

The Revolution (Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Asya) beats The Filthy Animals (Kidman, Eddie Guerrero, Torrie Wilson) in a six-person elimination tag team match. During the match, a fan with a Canadian flag tries to poke Malenko with his flag at ringside, and is escorted out of the ring by WCW security. Kidman and Eddie fight over who will check on Torrie, and it gets Kidman eliminated by a schoolboy from Malenko. Kidman and Eddie continue to argue after the elimination as Konnan checks on Torrie. After that, Konnan leaves. After Eddie is eliminated, Torrie hits Saturn with a kick to the groin only to get a two count. Shane Douglas distracts the referee, then Saturn hits Torrie with a low blow for the win.

Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald) are seen attacking Buff Bagwell in the locker room.

Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald) show up instead of Buff Bagwell for the next match, and all three men attack Curt Hennig. Buff Bagwell runs into the ring with a 2x4 and chases them all out, then he and Hennig have their match after Hennig attacks Bagweel from behind.

Buff Bagwell beats Curt Hennig in which the loser must leave WCW. As a result, Curt Hennig is gone from World Heavyweight Championship.

Mike Tenay interviews Sting. He says that if were not for the powers that be, he would still be WCW World Heavyweight Champion and he would not have to reclaim what he never lost. Canada may be Bret "The Hit Man" Hart's home turf, but it is still showtime.

Bret "The Hit Man" beats Sting with the Sharpshooter to advance to the finals of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship tournament. During the match, Sting uses referee Mickey Jay as a shield against Bret's elbow drop, knocking Mickey Jay out. The Total Package shows up with a bat in his hand and runs to the ring with Miss Elizabeth, and he nails Sting in the back of the knee with it. Bret takes the bat away, pushes The Total Package to the mat and puts him in the Sharpshooter. After Mickey Jay comes to, Sting is disqualified, but Bret does not want the match to end like this. Mickey Jay allows the match to continue. After the match restarts, Sting goes for the Scorpion Deathlock, but Bret reverses it into a Sharpshooter and Sting taps out. After the match, Sting asks Bret to get back in the ring, which he does. They both stare down for a moment, then they shake hands.



"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit, who says he has waited for this moment for 14 years and his destiny is now in his own hands. He calls it an honor to wrestle Bret "The Hit Man" Hart for the gold. Last time they fought in honor of Owen Hart; now it is for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He calls the match a true test of who is "the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be."

Mike Tenay interviews The Total Package and Miss Elizabeth. The Total Package is now wearing a cervical collar, saying that he is now injured due to "the carelessness of Bret "The Hit Man" Hart," and because of that, he will not be able to compete tonight on doctor's order. He claims that he will write a check to each and every Total Package fan in the crowd so they can get their money's worth.

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams and the fake Jim Ross show up and guest on commentary for the next match, right before Beryln puches out the referee and both Misfits member Jerry Only and The Wall get involved. We also learn that the fake Jim Ross' name is "Oklahoma."

Vampiro beats Berlyn in a Dog Collar Match. During the match, The Wall walks out after he and Berlyn have an argument after The Wall tries to pin Vampiro. After the match, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams attacks both Vampiro and Jerry Only.

Mike Tenay interviews Scott Hall, who is now WCW World Television Champion - in addition to being WCW United States Heavyweight Champion - after Rick Steiner was forced to vacate the title due to the injuries he received from Sid Vicious last week on Nitro. Hall says it is a shame about Rick Steiner, and wonders if he and his brother Scott Steiner can get a group rate at the hospital. He then says that The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) love to please their fans, and if anyone wants a shot at the TV title, they can face him in the ring.

Curt Hennig is seen backstage one last time, while Kimberly is seen entering the building.

The Total Package - still wearing the cervical collar - and Miss Elizabeth show up. Nevertheless, he wrestles Meng.

Meng beats The Total Package by pinfall with the Tongan Death Grip after Miss Elizabeth accidentally sprays The Total Package with mace, Meng tears the cervical collar off and puts The Total Package in the Tongan Death Grip.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. He considers Chri Benoit a friend, but he is putting that friendship aside as he and Benoit will not disappoint anybody tonight. He will prove that he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be tonight. As the interview is being conducted, The Total Package is seen backstage looking for Miss Elizabeth.

David Flair is seen polishing his crowbar backstage.

Scott Hall shows up and says there is nothing he likes more than beating somebody up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He says that he has called Kevin Nash, who is on his way here, and they are about to turn Toronto upside down. He then issues an open challenge to anybody who wants to take him on. Booker T answers the challenge.

Scott Hall retains the WCW World Television and United States Heavyweight Championships against Booker T. During the match, Jeff Jarrett and Creative Control (Patrick and Gerald) show up, and Booker T fights them off. This distraction proves enough for Scott Hall to retain with The Outsider's Edge. After the match, the lights go out, and when they com eback on, Midnight is in the ring. ONce again, Booker T and Midnight clean house.

The Total Package is seen looking for Miss Elizabeth backstage.

David Flair vs. Kimberly ends in a no-contest. During the match, David Flair knocks out referee Nick Patrick, and Kimberly manages to remove David Flair's protective cup. She is saved by both Kanyon and Diamond Dallas Page, who have not been seen in some time. DDP is about to whack David Flair with his own crowbar when "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson shows up. He takes the crowbar away from DDP and tells him to back off. Kimberly, DDP and Kanyon leave as Anderson checks on David Flair. As soon as Anderson turns his back, however, David Flair hits Anderson in the kidneys with the crowbar. WCW head of security Doug Dellinger calls for trainers and EMTs to check on Anderson, who is taken to an ambulance on a stretcher.

Mike Tenay interviews Sid Vicious, who says that he will never tell Goldberg that he quits. At Halloween Havoc, he says Goldberg said he quit after the fight of their lives, and tonight, he will tear him apart until Goldberg admits he is the master and ruler of the world.

Goldberg beats Sid Vicious with a Cobra Clutch after Sid Vicious goes unconscious.

"Mean" Gene Oklerund interviews The Total Package, who says that Miss Elizabeth knows she screwed up and that he doesn't get mad, he gets even. He tells him to tell Elizabeth that she had better watch her back.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beats "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit with the Sharpshooter to win the vacant WCW World Heavyweight Championship and win the championship tournament. (The Sharpshooter used to win the match is later shown in the opening title sequence for American sitcom Malcolm In The Middle.) During the match, the Canadian fan with the flag who was ejected from the the arena at the start of the show returns, and climbs over the guardrail to attack Benoit. He wipes off his facepaint after shoving WCW head of security away to reveal that he was Dean Malenko all along. Security ejects Malenko from ringside and sends him back to the back. Later on in the match, The Outsiders show up, knock out referee Nick Patrick and attack Benoit until Goldberg fights them. Nash gets Speared, but Hall hits him in the back with a steel chair. Bret takes care of Scott Hall, and The Outsiders retreat as Mickey Jay replaces Nick Patrick as referee. Goldberg then catches up to The Outsiders and fights them in the aisle while the match continues in the ring, and WCW security have to separate both Goldberg and The Outsiders, even as the brawl continues to the backstage area. After the match, Bret celebrates in the ring with his family, and he and Benoit both embrace in a sign of respect. Bret then waves the Canadian flag
