Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 8, 1999

RAW

The Rock shows up to start tonight's show. He says he has a big problem with "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight following what happened to him last night on Sunday Night Heat. After calling Wight "a 500 pound bag of monkey crap," he demands he come to the ring and answer his questions. Instead of getting Paul Wight, he gets WWF co-owner Vince McMahon instead, and Vince tells him to stop washing corporate laundry in public or else The Corporation will start wondering what The Rock is smoking in addition to cooking. Vince says he understands that it is not The Rock, and says it is the fans' after their placing pressure on the WWF Champion. He tells The Rock not to listen to the fans and to listen to him, and says he will lay out all of the answers for him in good time. As far as Paul Wight is concerned, Vince says he is a card-carrying member of The Corporation in good standing. The Rock says he trust Vince, but he says there are too many coincidences and that the card Paul Wight carries is the one that makes him a roody-poo candyass. Paul Wight shows up and says he cannot tell which is shorter: The Rock's memory or The Rock's manhood. He reminds The Rock that he told him to cut "Stone Cold" Steve Austin off last night and to protect the WWF Championship, and says that this is starting to not be worth the money he is being paid, and considers paying it all back with interest and taking the bull and the horns and shoving them up The Rock's ass. Before he can say "ass," Mankind shows up. Now that he is officially the second guest referee in the WWF Championship match at WrestleMania 15, he would like to repay the favor, even if The Corporation pulled a fast one on him last time. He says that if Paul Wight and The Rock really want to get it on, he would be more than happy to go back to the back and put on the stripes. Vince is beginning to think Mankind is not all there upstairs, and tells him he is not the official second guest referee yet. He says he will get his request if he gets in the ring and takes on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin tonight. Vince says there will be an unbiased referee in that match: Paul Wight. He also makes this official to prove a point to The Rock, saying this will answer his questions. He also gives The Rock a seat at commentary for that match, as well. Suddenly, Austin shows up and says he sees four jackasses setting up rules that do not mean anything to him, and he does not care about any of them, saying "it's all a bunch of bullshit." He does not care who the special guest referee is, either tonight or at WrestleMania, as he is going to WrestleMania and winning the WWF Championship.

The Ministry of Darkness is seen in the locker room, looking for The Big Boss Man. When the two men inside say they have not seen him, The Undertaker asks them to send them a message in the form of a beating on both men.

Mankind is seen talking to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin backstage, asking him to win tonight so he can become the second special guest referee at WrestleMania 15. Austin says he is not letting him win anything, and tells him to get ready for him beating his ass. Mankind tells Austin to give him a signal if he changes his mind about that.

D'Lo Brown beats Owen Hart in a Steel City Street Fight when Jeff Jarrett shows up and tosses his guitar in the ring only for D'Lo to grab it and smash it into Owen's head, busting him open.

Backstage, The Undertaker commands The Ministry of Darkness to split up, search the arena and bring The Big Boss Man to him.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) beats Hardcore Holly and Al Snow after Holly and Snow turn on each other during the match, which results in Snow hitting Holly from behind with Head. Before the match, it is announced that Road Dogg, Hardcore Holly and Al Snow will all be in a Triple Threat Match for the WWF Hardcore Championship at WrestleMania 15. After the match, the lights go out and The Undertaker shows up with Paul Bearer. When the lights come back on, The Ministry of Darkness swoops in from the crowd and attacks everyone in the ring. The Undertaker then tells The Big Boss Man that he will come face-to-face with his maker and the Lord of Darkness before the night is over.

Jim Ross tells "Dr. Death" Steve Williams that the WWF will not make him into what they made Ross, and tells Williams that he is the best wrestler here and "to Hell with them."

Jim Ross heads to the ring with a shopping bag, saying he has some explaining to do, and asks Michael Cole to come to the ring. Cole takes off his headset, leaves the commentary table and gets in the ring. Ross says that as he was getting over his Bell's Palsy attack, he had a lot of thinking to do and came up with an idea. He pulls out a red Japanese gi and a kabuki mask - the same gi and mask we saw a few weeks ago by the man who attacked Bart Gunn a few weeks ago. Jim Ross reveals that it was the idea of the WWF's creative department to make Dr. Death wear the gi and mask on WWF television programming. He calls this "the biggest pile of horse crap that I have ever seen in my life." He then asks Cole who was the first person to come up to him and said "If you need anything, let me know." Cole says that was Jim Ross. Jim Ross asks who got him ready for television. Cole says it was Jim Ross. Jim Ross then confronts Cole for going to the front office and saying that Ross will not be coming back because "his face would scare small children and animals." Jim Ross decides to leave Cole with something he will remember him for forever and ever: a kick in the crotch. He then tells Cole that he will learn to respect him like everyone else, and tells him to "drag [his] Yankee ass back to the back" as he is returning back to the commentary table. Jim Ross returns to the table, tells Jerry "The King" Lawler that he is glad to see him, and shakes his hand. Meanwhile, backstage, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson have seen what has happened on a monitor. Vince calls Terry Taylor over, says he will be giving Cole the rest of the night off, and tells Taylor to replace Jim Ross on commentary. The whole conversation is shown on the TitanTron. Vince then tells Patterson and Brisco to keep an eye on The Ministry of Darkness, and to let him know where they are and what they are doing. Terry Taylor shows up, and nicely asks Jim Ross to leave the commentary table. Jim Ross makes fun of Terry Taylor's old Red Rooster gimmick from the late 1980s as "Dr. Death" Steve Williams shows up and escort Jim Ross to the back. As Jim Ross leaves, he continues to make fun of the Red Rooster gimmick.

Backstage, Goldust is seen making out with Ryan Shamrock in front of The Blue Meanie, who is crying into a blue handkerchief.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco are deep into the building wearing robes and holding flashlights, looking for The Ministry of Darkness.

Before the next match, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock goes after Goldust and The Blue Meanie when he sees them with Ryan Shamrock.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Goldust . During the match, The Blue Meanie tries to kiss Ryan Shamrock as Goldust gets Ken Shamrock ready for the Shattered Dreams. He does, but Ryan is disgusted by the whole thing. This allows Ken Shamrock to escape Shattered Dreams and hit a belly-to-belly suplex for the win. After the match, The Blue Meanie tries to attack Ken Shamrock from behind, but Ken beats him up as Goldust and Ryan try to make their way to the back. Ken notices this and goes up the ramp after them.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, Test and Chyna are seen backstage.

We hear more from Pete "Gas" and Rodney, two of WWF co-owner Shane McMahon's friends from Greenwich, Connecticut. They brag about creating terror wherever they go in Greenwich because they are bored and rich.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe continue to look for The Ministry of Darkness in the depths of the arena. They hear who they think are The Ministry behind a door.

WAR ZONE

WWF co-owner Shane McMahon guests on commentary for the next match.

Test beats X-Pac. During the match, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon tries to get involved, but "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley sees this coming and shoves him to the floor. Chyna gets in the ring in an attempt to hit X-Pac with a low blow, but Triple H drags her out of the ring. Shane gets in the ring and hits X-Pac in the head with the European Championship as Triple H confronts Chyna and referee Earl Hebner is checking on Test, allowing Test to get the win. After the match, Triple H chases after Shane, but Chyna levels Triple H with a clothesline. Triple H grabs a microphone and says he is sick of what is going on, and tells Chyna he will find her, drag her into the ring and humiliate her in front of the world.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco kick down the door that they find in the depths of the building only to find The Godfather with his hos. The Godfather beats Patterson and Brisco up and kicks them out of the room.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley is seen looking for Chyna backstage.

Befor the next match, The Godfather offers "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman a choice between a whole night with his hos or The Godfather beating his ass. Blackman says he wants both hos, and he gets both hos. As he leaves with the hos, he is suddenly attacked by Droz, and The Godfather and Steve Blackman put the boots to Droz together until the lights go out and The MInistry of Darkness makes their presence known once again. The Undertaker shows up with Paul Bearer, and the rest of The Ministry crawl out of the crowd to attack all three men in the ring. The Undertaker asks The Big Boss Man how many more innocent people The Ministry will hurt before he comes out of hiding, as one way or another, there will be a sacrifice tonight.

Chyna is seen heading towards the ring backstage.

Chyna shows up, and tells "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley that if he wants a piece of her, to come to the ring and get some. Triple H shows up and gets in the ring with Chyna. Suddenly, the lights go out, and Kane shows up. Triple H is seen holding Chyna from behind when the ring post pyrotechnics hit, and it is noticed that Triple H is using Chyna as a shield. He lets her go, then goes after Kane. Chyna grabs Triple H from behind, and Kane raises one of his hands towards Triple H. Triple H ducks, and Kane accidentally burns Chyna in the face with a fireball. Triple H checks on Chyna, but Kane tosses him out of the ring and checks on Chyna himself. Two EMTs also check on Chyna, but Kane tosses both of them out of the ring. Kane then helps Chyna out of the ring and, in a rare glimpse of Kane showing compassion for someone, carries her to the back.

In the dressing room, Kane comforts Chyna, covering her face with a towel as he sits on the floor, rocking.

Sable is seen carrying the new issue of Playboy Magazine with herself on the cover before the next match. We see footage form an autograph signing in New York City from last Thursday. Sable then guests on commentary and hands the magazine to Jerry "The King" Lawler, who along with members of the audience sitting directly behind him gets a sneak peak of some steamy pictures of Sable. When Luna Vachon shows up, Luna stares directly at Sable before the match begins.

The debuting Tori vs. Luna Vachon ends before it can begin when Luna aggressively keeps Tori pinned to the mat. Sable leaves the commentary table, checks on Tori, then shoves her to the mat and kicks at her before ripping her shirt off and shoving her again. She.

The Big Boss Man makes his way to the arena, and is immediately confronted by The Undertaker. He is suddenly surrounded by the rest of The Ministry of Darkness and is immediately ganged up on.

The Ministry of Darkness drag The Big Boss Man to the stage, and tie him to a huge Undertaker symbol as a sacrifice. The Undertaker tells WWF co-owner Vince McMahon that The Corporation will fall one by one, then "she too...will be mine." The Undertaker tells The Big Boss Man he cannot rest in peace now, and he has been sacrificed before the Lord of Darkness. Suddenly, The Big Boss Man manages to get loose and leap off the symbol, but he is immediately attacked by The Ministry. The Corporation shows up and fights The Ministry. Gerald Briscoe calls for the police, but The Undertaker knocks out several police officers. Paul Bearer pulls out a cellphone and calls a number, then The Undertaker sets his own symbol on fire before allowing the police to arrest him and escort him out of the building.

The Undertaker is placed in the back of an unmarked police car. WWF co-owner Vince McMahon screams at The Undertaker, telling him to stay in jail after threatening him, his family and The Corporation and that jail will be the only safe place for him. He tells The Undertaker that if he gets out of jail, he will find him. The Undertaker laughs as police officers push Vince back and tell Vince they will have to arrest him if he does not calm down.

The Rock guests on commentary for the next match, and is flipped off by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as Austin makes his way to the ring prior to staring down special guest referee "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight.

Mankind beats "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a match with "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight after Austin is standing on the outside of the ring apron as Mankind has the Mandible Claw locked in. As a result of this win, Mankind is the second special guest referee for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. The Rock for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania 15, much to The Rock's chagrin. After the match, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up and keeps Paul Wight away from Austin. Austin grabs Vince, and The Rock gets in the ring and attacks Austin from behind. Austin fights back and clotheslines him over the top rope and out of the ring to end the show.
