Feel The Heat - Sunday Night Heat recap for March 14, 1999

WWF owner Vince McMahon and "The Big Show" Paul Wight show up to start tonight's show. Vince announces that due to incarceration, The Undertaker will not be here tonight; however, those at home can enjoy The Undertaker on Poltergeist: The Legacy immediately after the show on USA Network, and jokes that it could be The Undertaker's future before saying that The Undertaker cannot threaten him and get away with it. As far as The Rock is concerned, The Rock is scheduled to be here and that will have the opportunity to successfully explain the role of Paul Wight in The Corporation to The Rock. He then introduces Mankind to the ring, and Mankind shows up. Vince applauds Mankind on his efforts as of late and says that he keeps his word as far as a WrestleMania opportunity is concerned, then says there is just one more thing that he would like Mankind to do: defeat Paul Wight in one-on-one competition at WrestleMania. He states that the winner of that match will be the undisputed special guest referee in the WWF Championship Match at WrestleMania 15. Mankind tells Vince that he felt bad for him and that maybe Vince had a little bit of heart, but after doing everything Vince has asked him to do, Vince wants to throw a swerve. He says that if a McMahon always stands behind his word, then a Foley always stands behind his sock. Mankind goes for a Mandible Claw on Vince, but Big Show clobbers Mankind from behind.

Mankind is seen in the ring with some referees, which he then attacks. One of the referees is given the Mandible Claw, then Mankind scares Shane McMahon out of the commentary table before stating that he is not waiting until WrestleMania and demanding a match with "The Big Show" Paul Wight tonight or else he will get a piece of WWF owner Vince McMahon. When Test comes out for his match, Mankind attacks him before heading to the back. X-Pac guests on commentary for the next match, but it isn't long before Shane McMahon shows up and slides the WWF European Championship into the ring for Test to use as a weapon. X-Pac chases Shane back to the back, then gets in the ring and fights Test, and Test beats D'Lo Brown by disqualification.

Mankind is seen backstage hunting for "The Big Show" Paul Wight with a steel chair in his hands. Meanwhile, WWF owner Vince McMahon tells Paul Wight to hide from Mankind, despite Paul Wight wanting to fight Mankind backstage. Paul Wight punches a hole in the wall and reluctantly does as Vince says.

Before the next match, Mankind returns to the ring with a steel chair and attacks Al Snow with it. Shane McMahon hides behind Kevin Kelly on commentary as Mankind continues to attack Al Snow. Droz shows up and stomps on Al Snow, but Mankind lays him out with a steel chair before hitting Droz with a double arm DDT onto the chair. Mankind then grabs the microphone and tells WWF owner Vince McMahon they can do this, and that he is even enjoying this just a little bit. However, if "The Big Show" Paul Wight won't come to him, he will come for Paul Wight. Vince and Paul Wight show up on the TitanTron, and Vince tells Mankind to wait until WrestleMania for all the Big Show he wants, and that he shouldn't push his luck. Mankind says he will get Paul Wight, and it will be tonight.

Val Venis and Hardcore Holly beat The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) in mere seconds. After the match, "Road Dogg" Jesse James tells Venis it's not his belt that he wants, but "the ass that holds it up," and his lesson in humility is over as of now after humiliating him on Heat. He then says it is his turn on Raw, then challenges him for the WWF Intercontinental Championship on Raw, anyway. Billy Gunn says that if Road Dogg wants a shot at the Intercontiental Championship, then he challenges Hardcore Holly for the WWF Hardcore Championship on Raw.

Mankind storms the locker room demanding to know where "The Big Show" Paul Wight is before attacking The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) and another person. Meanwhile, "The Big Show" Paul Wight says he will show his fist down Mankind's throat and do what WWF owner Vince McMahon paid him to do. Vince tells him he will think about it.

Backstage, Michael Cole interviews Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Flyboy Rocco). Rocco says they felt and got the message from The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) last week, then he and Johnny Grunge are attacked by The Brood (Gangrel, Edge, Christian) before referees try to break up the attack.

Backstage, Mankind asks Jim Ross to keep an eye out for "The Big Show" Paul Wight.

The Rock enters the arena while giving the man carrying his bags a hard time.

We see footage of Bart Gunn training for his boxing match against Butterbean at WrestleMania 15.

Backstage, Michael Cole interviews The Rock. The Rock says tonight, he wants no excuses and that he will get answers from WWF owner Vince McMahon.

Tiger Ali Singh is in the ring. He calls the fans "egomaniacs" and says that they are so concerned with focusing the attention on themselves that nothing else matters, and says that Jim Ross came to the ring with his black cowboy hat and his "half face" and embarrassed himself in front of a national audience because of his ego, and says it was so ridiculous and ludicrous and yet it entertained him so much that it gave him an idea. He announces that tonight, he will offer $500 to come into the ring and do a Jim Ross impression. He pulls a black cowboy hat out of a shopping bag, then picks out a man in all black to head to the ring. (This man is played by none other than WWF writer Ed Ferrara, who would later do this again with the "Oklahoma" character in World Championship Wrestling.) The man does a spot-on impression of Jim Ross, who shows up with "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. Williams suplexes the man, then hits Tiger Ali Singh with the Doctor Bomb.

After the match, Jim Ross says that he wants to go back to work tomorrow and says that upper management will not move them out of the ring as they have something to say. Tomorrow, they will be at Raw. As Jim Ross speaks, WWF owner Vince McMahon tells "The Big Show" Paul Wight to take his anger out on Jim Ross, and to beat up Mankind if he shows up, too. As Jim Ross says that he will be back on the commentary table sooner rather than later, Big Show shows up and Jim Ross leaves the ring. Suddenly, The Rock shows up, and Vince McMahon shows up as The Rock tells Big Show that he has three seconds to leave before he lays the smack down on him. The Rock then slaps Big Show before punching him, and both The Rock and Big Show fight. Big Show is about to choke slam The Rock when Mankind hits him with a steel chair, but it has little effect and Big Show punches Mankind through the chair before choke slamming him down on it. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin then shows up and contemplates the idea that he and Big Show are in this together before saying there will be no "what if's" at WrestleMania and that he will become the next WWF Champion. All of a sudden, Big Show lifts up the ring while The Rock is still in it to end the show.
