Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for March 29, 1999

David Flair talks to Torrie Wilson in front of a fireplace in a black-and-white vignette. David says his father, WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, is such a loser for ducking Hollywood Hogan. He says Hogan treats him like a father, and says this is something he never had. He says Hogan introduces him to people and takes him to the finest hotels and restaurants - something his father never did as he was never there for him. Torrie tells him not to worry about it.

We see a blue 1999 Volkswagen Beetle with the Beetle Adventure Racing logo, the Nintendo 64 logo, the WCW website and the Electronic Arts logo on it. Konnan's music video - now without Disco Inferno in it - is replayed.

Vincent shows up as Konnan speaks before the next match, and talks about how the nWo got rid of Konnan and how Hollywood Hogan made him the boss. Vincent says he will take Konnan out.

Konnan beats Vincent with the Tequila Sunrise. During the match, Stevie Ray shows up and distracts Konnan, but he also ends up distracting Vincent, which allows Konnan to get the win. After the match, Mike Tenay plus the WCW Hotline with never-before-heard information about Goldberg which will up until midnight Eastern Time tonight.

Torrie Wilson and Hollywood Hogan are seen talking to each other in a black-and-white vignette. Torrie tells Hollywood that David Flair will not stop talking about him, and that he looks up to him like a father figure. Hogan says that David needs guidance after living with so many lies and rumors all of his life, and to be his dad and have him see the light all in one day, he can see why David is so upset. Hollywood Hogan then embellishes his match against Kevin Nash on January 4th, saying it was "real" and that if he had to fight him again, he would have no idea how it would turn out. Hogan then whispers something into Torrie's ear.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hollywood Hogan. Hogan says Hollywood and the nWo Wolfpac are definitely in the house tonight, and says the last time he was in Canada, they were shaking the rafters as loudly as they are tonight, as when the man with the largest arms in the world hit Canadian soil, they knew there would be a riot going on. He then says he came here to talk straight talk, and says he is the man because he beat the man, and wants to know where the WCW World Heavyweight Championship is. He also goes on to say that when Canadian customs and the border patrol measured his arms to be 24 1/4 inches, they asked him who he was beating up tonight. He then took four fingers and said he would beat up WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. He then says he has the rest of the nWo looking for Flair in the building, and if he has to drag him out to the ring and embarrass him out of the country, so be it, as he wants the WCW World Heavyweight Championship back.

The "60 Seconds With Goldberg" vignette is replayed.

It is reported that there are rumors going around that Sting has showed up in Canada.

Mike Tenay interviews Diamond Dallas Page. DDP says that he and Kimberly have gone through some drama, but Kimberly is doing fine and that his doctor has told him that he has an herniated L4 disc, which started a sporadic paralysis in his legs which left him unable to feel them. He says the feeling has come back and that he is feeling good. He does not want to make any excuses, and says Scott Steiner took him out and laid him out and that it will not happen again. As for Scott Steiner's 30-day stipulation, even he thinks that stipulation is ridiculous and is not happening. DDP - no longer wanting to be called "The People's Champion," telling Tenay not to believe the hype - says he will come back on his own terms and pick his spots instead of coming out like a bull in a china shop, and tells Scott Steiner he will get to him and do it his way.

Wrath beats Kenny Kaos. Mike Tenay then plugs the WCW Hotline again.

Torrie Wilson talks to Kevin Nash in a black-and-white vignette. Torrie asks about the match with Hogan at January 4th, and wants to know his side of things about the match. Nash asks Torrie if she thinks Hollywood Hogan can beat him, and says it is as real as Hogan says it was...really interesting, that is.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair says if he was going to kick someone's butt tonight, it would be Ty Domi, but Domi sin't here tonight. He then says that one of the downsides of making big decisions for a big company is going global, and going to Canada is not a good decision as he does not like being here. He says it is the only country in the world where he can take a $100 bill and spend every night of the week in the Marriott with "Mean" Gene. Because he is the president of the greatest wrestling organization in the world and a man who makes things happen, he has a surprise for the wrestling fans in Canada and all over the world tonight. He announces that one of the biggest stars in the industry has been after him all day long, and that he has told him he can come out to the ring on his time and make a presentation to the president of WCW. That man is Diamond Dallas Page, who has not been seen since SuperBrawl IX. DDP says things have changed, and asks what happened in the month he was gone and if Eric Bischoff has beamed into Flair's body. Flair says that since he has the book, he can do what he wants to him just like he used to. DDP tells Flair that introducing him had to feel like sticking needles into his eyes. Flair admits that DDP has elevated much to his chagrin, and knows that DDP wants him to give him a match against Scott Steiner. DDP then calls the Canadian fans "jacked-offs" for "being into women being thrown out of cars." Flair then says he will make a corporate decision, and announces that tonight, DDP will wrestle Hollywood Hogan, and says he is doing it because he is the boss and he gives the orders when DDP questions his courage. Before Flair can say more, Hogan shows up and tells Flair that he is in a lot of trouble as he will get the belt back. As far as DDP goes, the two of them still have a big problem. DDP says he will go through Hogan and then take the World title from Flair if he has to get to Scott Steiner. Hogan says that he and DDP have something in common, and if he has to beat him and jump through hoops to get the World title back, then everyone in Canada will be witnessing it tonight. DDP says that works for him. Flair then says he will ensure DDP's victory by being his manager that night. As DDP tells Flair he does not need him, we suddenly see Sting in black-and-white in the rafters of the arena. Okerlund is shocked at Sting's sudden return, as is Flair, who yells at Sting to get down to the ring.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour. We then see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Rick Steiner beats Scott Norton after ramming Norton into the ring post four times prior to the Steiner Bulldog.

Rey Mysterio Jr. talks to Kidman backstage. Rey says "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko have issued an open challenge and he needs a tag team partner. Kidman says it didn't work out last time, but Rey says that every time they are in the ring, they tear it up. Kidman agrees on the condition that they both enter and leave the ring as partners and not as friends. Rey agrees, saying to forget the past and focus on right now, and that he has his back.

Booker T retains the WCW World Television Championship against "Gentleman" Chris Adams.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho says he is 100% Canadian, and that he spent his childhood in Canada, grew up in Canada, and became everything that he is today in Canada. Now, he lives in the United States, which earns him boos. But as he walked around in Toronto, looked up at the blue skies and said hello to all the Torontonians, he says one thing is clear: he's glad to live in the United States because Canada sucks. He is then attacked by Jerry Flynn to start the next match.

Chris Jericho beats Jerry Flynn after using the top rope for leverage.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund and Spice of The Nitro Girls plug the "Battle For The Beetle" Sweepstakes again.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up. He says it is nice to be in a place where he gets a little respect as the crowd gives him a positive ovation, and also a place where you see a few kids, too. He says everyone is upset about the ratings and whatnot, so he isn't going to worry very much tonight. After reciting "O Canada," he says he has been in WCW for over a year, a five-time champion and the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. He then says that he cannot get a match with anybody, as "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is hiding behind a chair somewhere and Hollywood Hogan is afraid of him. He says he came to WCW to earn a reputation, not to lose one, and he wants to prove he can excellently execute any wrestler in WCW any time he wants, and says he is not going anywhere until Goldberg gets in the ring with him. He says Goldberg is putting up money to take on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, but Bret says he beat Austin every time he fought him. He says Goldberg likes to fancy himself as a tough football player, and takes off his Calgary Hitmen jersey to reveal a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey as he says that this is hockey country and dares Goldberg to get in the ring with him. Goldberg shows up, then tries to Spear him only to take himself out along with Bret. Bret is the first person to move in any capacity, and he eventually turns Goldberg over and pins him for a self-made three count. He then takes his Toronto Maple Leaf jersey off to reveal that he was wearing a solid iron chest plate underneath. Head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger shows up and checks on Goldberg, and Bret then takes the microphone and says "Respect that!" before telling Eric Bischoff and WCW that he quits. Hart is confronted by WCW Executive Committee Chairman on the way out, then walks off to the back. Someone else confronts Hart, but the show has faded to black for commercials before we can even see who it is.

After the break, we then see who confronted Bret as soon as the broadcast faded to black for commercials: Eric Bischoff.

Before the next match, Buff Bagwell says that it is over between him and Scott Steiner, and tells the crowd that he loves them as much as they love him, because he's buff and he's the stuff.

Buff Bagwell beats Norman Smiley.

Rey Mysterio Jr. and Kidman beat The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko) to become the WCW World Tag Team Champions! During the match, Malenko puts Rey in a Texas Cloverleaf as the referee is distracted with Benoit and Kidman. As this is going on, Raven and Saturn show up, and Raven hits Malenko with an Evenflow DDT as Malenko still has the Texas Cloverleaf on Rey. Saturn tells the referee that Rey and Malenko are down, and Rey manages to crawl to Malenko to get the three-count.

Hollywood Hogan beats Diamond Dallas Page. During the match, Hogan whips Page into referee Mickey Jay before clothesline Page into Jay into the corner. Referee Charlese Robinson comes in as Hogan misses the leg drop after the big boot, and Flair eventually hits Page in the back of the head with a steel chair before chopping Hogan. All the while, Robinson does not start the match, and Hogan takes out flair before hitting DDP with the leg drop. Robinson does not make the count, and Hogan knocks Robinson out. Mickey Jay comes to and makes the three-count.
