WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up with Triple H, Chyna and The Rock. Shane says that as a competitor in the World Wrestling Federation, he has nothing else to prove along with an unblemished and undefeated record, and announces that the is retiring the WWF European Championship. As for D-Generation X (X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn), the name of the group belongs to Triple H. Triple H calls the boos "music to [his] ears," and says that the DX name, logo, music, crotch chop, two words and attitude are all his, and when he got done carrying "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, he and Chyna picked the rest of the group up - which he refers to as "The 1-2-3 Kid", "The Real Jesse James" and "Rockabilly" - and carried them for twelve months. He says that the rest of the group wanted to be "cool," "big time" and "over," and while he made them "cool" and "big time" and got them "over," they made the DX Army, because without them, it's "Just three little boys running around playing G.I. Joe in their back yard." He then tells DX that if they want a war, then they have come to the right place, because they've got one, and that he will break X-Pac down at Backlash. Shane says that since his father has other things on his mind, it is time for him to take on some newfound responsibility, starting with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He says that Austin was looking for something last week on Raw, and that it is around The Rock's shoulder right now, and when he tried to get it back, it did not happen. Shane then rules that if Austin wants it back, he will have to beat The Rock in a rematch for the WWF Championship at Backlash. He then says a match of that magnitude needs a special guest referee, and the referee for that match will be none other than himself. The Rock tells Austin that he wants and wants, but he wants something, too: the WWF Championship. The Rock then says some people say he is an icon, that some say that he is immortal and that some say that he is already legendary, but he will say that he is without a shadow of a doubt "the best damn WWF champ there ever was." He says that he will take his right hand and commence to kick his roody-poo candy ass at Backlash and guarantees that he will prove to Austin and the millions of his fans exactly why he is "The Great One", and says that the one things Austin will hear is the sickening sound of him shoving his foot in and out of his candy-ass. Shane then announces that he has a special present for "The Big Show" Paul Wight" tomorrow night, and he will stick his newfound authority down his throat.

Vince then brings up the teddy bear that was given to Stephanie as a present as a very young child.
