Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 22, 2000

RAW

WWF Chairman Vince McMahon shows up to start tonight's show. Vince says that judgment day is the day that the world is supposed to come to an end and everyone is judged by the way they live their lives, and that the world ended for several Superstars last night. He then says it is clear that the McMahon-Helmsley regime is living correctly, as they were rewarded greatly and they rewarded themselves with one of the greatest parties of all time. He apologizes for anybody looking less than their best, including himself, and says that the rest of the regime will be here tonight. He says that X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James "set the tables" for The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) and beat them at their very own game, his own son Shane McMahon single-handedly defeated Big Show, and Triple H single-handedly proved why he is "The Game" when he defeated The Rock for the WWF Championship, even though The Rock employed the services of The Undertaker. He then says it has been nice without The Undertaker, who walked out on his contract some time ago, and states that if The Undertaker shows up tonight, he will have marshals waiting to arrest him since he is no longer under contract. As far as The Rock is concerned, he is not so sure that The Rock will show up tonight and if he is big enough of a man to swallow his pride and appear tonight, but in case he does, The Rock will face him in the ring tonight...almost. Instead, The Rock will be facing Road Dogg, X-Pac, Shane McMahon and Triple H at the same time in one match. He then says at Judgment Day, the McMahon-Helmsley took the WWF Championship from The Rock, and tonight, they will simply take what is left.

Backstage, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon is tailed from behind by The Rock, who proceeds to attack him. Vince begs The Rock off, but to no avail, and he throws him into a limousine. Vince yells at The Rock for doing this, and The Rock hits Vince with a trash can lid before the limo drives off.

The Rock waits in the parking lot for the rest of the McMahon-Helmsley regime.

Before the next match, Trish Stratus says it has come to her attention that women love The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy), their rainbow hair and their high-flying moves, then says that she does not and that "those boys" will face her men. She then says they will see how hard they really are when she is done with them.

T&A (Test and Albert) beat The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) after Trish Stratus distracts the referee so that Test can hit Jeff Hardy with a top rope elbow drop and place Albert on top of Jeff Hardy.

The Rock continues to wait in the parking lot for the rest of the McMahon-Helmsley regime.

Eddie Guerrero retains the WWF European Championship against D'Lo Brown. During the match, The Godfather shows up with his hos, distracting D'Lo so that Eddie can retain the title. After the match, The Godfather beats up D'Lo Brown.

A black limousine carrying X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James and Tori shows up at the arena, and Gerald Brisco warns X-Pac, Tori and Road Dogg of what has happened between The Rock and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Suddenly, X-Pac and Road Dogg are attacked from behind with a pipe by The Rock, who throws them into a truck and traps them inside.

Before the next match, Kurt Angle says he has only one thing to say tonight: the New York Knicks are going down in the NBA Finals after they defeat the Indiana Pacers. Christian says Indiana is known for two things: a rich, storied basketball history and choking, whether it is Bobby Knight choking his players or the Pacers choking in the playoffs. Edge says they have decided to embrace Indiana tradition with a five-second pose called "The Big Choke", where Edge pretends to be Bobby Knight and Angle and Christian pretend to be choked Indiana University players.

Edge, Christian and Kurt Angle beat Too Cool (Grandmasta Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rikishi Phatu) after Edge hits Scotty 2 Hotty with one of the tag team title belts.

The Rock waits backstage for more members of the McMahon-Helmsley regime.

WWF CEO and co-owner Linda McMahon and Kane are on the cover of the current issue of Business Week.

Another black limousine with WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up. Gerald Briscoe warns Shane of The Rock, but Shane does not listen to him.

Shane McMahon shows up. He says he is not afraid of Big Show, and proceeds to make fun of him. He says that last night was a wonderful night and that he has set up a pictorial of what happened between him and Big Show last night to put up on the TitanTron. Shane brags about his victory and how the Big Show took a ride in the "WAHHHHmbulance," all while the crowd chants "Shane's a pussy!" Shane asks the fans to refer to him as "Shane The Giant Killer," and says that if Big Show were to miraculously walk into the ring against him again, history would repeat himself and he would become "The King of Sting." As Shane is about to leave, The Rock shows up and attacks Shane. The Rock and Shane brawl their way through the crowd and into the backstage area.

Chris Benoit retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Val Venis by disqualification after Hardcore Holly hits Benoit in the head with a steel chair. After the match, Hardcore Holly hits Venis in the head with a steel chair. As Holly leaves, Chris Jericho's theme hits, and Jericho attacks Holly in the head with a steel chair from behind.

In the parking lot, Gerald Briscoe waits for Triple H.

WAR ZONE

The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) beat The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan.

In the parking lot, Gerald Briscoe is still waiting for Triple H.

Backstage, Crash Holly confronts The Acolytes Protection Agency (Faarooq and Bradshaw) for not providing him an hour's worth of protection and demands his money back. When they refuse to take Crash seriously when he says that this is a breach of contract and Crash threatens to take his anger out on them, Crash Holly pours a beer on Bradshaw's head and storms off. Bradshaw then goes after Crash.

In the parking lot, Gerald Briscoe calls Triple H, but loses him due to a bad signal. He then throws the cell phone into a nearby concrete wall.

King of the Ring will be live on pay-per-view June 25th!

Bradshaw beats Crash Holly in a hardcore match.

A third black limousine shows up, and Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon come out. Gerald Briscoe warns Triple H and Stephanie about The Rock.

Gerald Briscoe tells Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon about what has happened so far tonight in their dressing room. Triple H says The Rock will not surprise him and that he is not a hard man to find, and as the three of them leave, The Rock comes out of hiding, revealing that he has heard everything that has been mentioned.

In footage from last night, Michael Cole interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Shawn says he has called the match down the middle and did the best job that he could. He says that all he saw after he was knocked out was The Undertaker attacking Triple H, and says he is sick and tired of people coming down on him every time he is asked to do a job, as he can't seem to make everybody happy, and if anybody does not like it, that is too bad.

As Essa Rios walks out with The Godfather and his hos to the ring, Lita chews him out.

Before the next match, The Godfather says that while Dean Malenko is known as the man of a thousand holds, his hos know a thousand positions. He offers Malenko the choice between a wrestling match and any of his hos. Malenko asks if he can have two, then walks off with two of the hos. Saturn then attacks Essa Rios from behind.

Perry Saturn beats The Godfather and Essa Rios in a two-on-one handicap after Lita pushes Essa Rios off the top rope.

Backstage, Triple H, Gerald Brisco and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon look for The Rock.

The Rock shows up. He says that Triple H brought everything he could last night at Judgment Day, but regardless of what he brought, it did not matter, for after all they have been through, Triple H brought it all and he brought it back. He says they made history, and while Triple H walked out with the WWF Championship, he never beat him. The Rock tells Triple H to enjoy the WWF Championship, for in due time, he will be WWF Champion again. He then talks about The Undertaker's return at Judgment Day, and while The Undertaker did the right thing, he did it at the wrong time: on The Rock's time. As for tonight, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon found out the hard way that he cannot simply finish him off, X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James are still trapped in a truck and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon has simply left the building. As for Triple H, he could have ambushed him backstage, but he decided to wait until now to call him out so he can kick his ass all over Indianapolis, Indiana. Triple H and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley show up, and Triple H tells The Rock that they went through hell yesterday, and admits they gave all they had and that they made history when they did what nobody else could do: go for 60 minutes and set the world on fire. He then says yesterday was The Rock's judgment day, and that The Rock was punished while he was rewarded, and that he felt it all slide out of The Rock as those 60 minutes ended. He says The Rock cannot hang with him, as he is the best there is, and while The Rock can say he never beat him, there are two men here tonight staring each other in the eye and one of them is a loser while the other is a winner. Triple H says that after all was said and done and the smoke cleared, he was the undisputed WWF Champion. The Rock simply tells Triple H "Just bring it." Triple H then takes off his jacket and heads to the ring, and after he cautiously enters the ring, both he and The Rock brawl. X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James run into the ring, as does Shane McMahon, but The Rock fends them all off. Gerald Brisco helps WWF Chairman Vince McMahon into the ring, but The Rock hits him with a Rock Bottom. Afterwards, the numbers game catches up to The Rock. As the McMahon-Helmsley regime places steel steps into the ring, The Undertaker shows up. The Undertaker fights off each member of the McMahon-Helmsley regime, including Vince McMahon, one by one, and nearly runs Vince over on his motorcycle before riding around the ring. Vince chases everyone back to the back, then Triple H nearly hits The Rock with a Pedigree on the steel steps. The Rock counters with a back drop before clotheslining Triple H out of the ring, and both men fight on the announce table before The Rock puts Triple H through it with a Rock Bottom to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 8, 2000

RAW

Edge and Christian are accompanied by The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) before the next match. Christian announces that they are issuing another open challenge and that they have hired The Acolytes in case any other team tries to run in and cost them the tag team titles. Edge then takes the microphone and says that Long Island, New York does not exactly have the best looking people in the nation, and makes concessions for that with a six-second pose for the benefits of those with flash photography instead of the usual five-second pose. He then says that if The Acolytes can stay sober long enough to fulfill their obligation, then the open challenge will begin. Bradshaw takes the microphone and says he and Faarooq aren't even sober right now, but out of the kindness of their heart, they will give them a 100% refund. Faarooq says it is so they won't have any remorse when they kick their asses, and The Acolytes accept the open challenge...physically.

Edge and Christian retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) by disqualification after Bradshaw hits Christian with the ring bell, even though Christian was the one to introduce the ring bell as a weapon in the ring against Faarooq. After the match, The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan show up and attack The Acolytes.

D-Generation X (Triple H, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, X-Pac), Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, Tori, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon and WWF Chairman Vince McMahon show up. Triple H apologizes to the fans for the actions of referee Earl Hebner, and says that when the WWF has something like what happened to Hebner, WWF is inundated with letters and phone calls, and Hebner has been unable to respond. He states that Hebner has not been able to respond to everyone's well-wishes like a true WWF Superstar should, and says that is is not Earl's fault because Hebner's jaw is wired shut, his eyes are so swollen shut that he cannot read the paper in front of him and that his arm is so broken he cannot write back. He calls this a tragedy, and says the whole thing could have been avoided if Hebner had just kept his nose out of their business. Triple H then states Hebner has to be the hero and that he got what he deserved for it, and shows what happens when anyone crosses the McMahon-Helmsley regime with a replay of the beating given to Hebner last Thursday on SmackDown. Triple H then warns anyone who wants to get in his way of becoming WWF Champion again that they will get a similar beating, then addresses The Rock, telling him that Judgment Day is coming and that old truths will be told. He says it will all come to a head and that everyone will know the truth, and challenges him to a one-on-one match with the WWF Championship on the line at Judgement Day, where a few things will be different: there will be no "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, no WWF co-owner Linda McMahon and no Hebner sticking his nose where it belongs; it will be just him and The Rock. He proposes upping the ante and separating the men from the boys by going in the one place where very few people in the business ever dream of going and most are scared to death of doing: a 60-minute Iron Man Match. He asks The Rock if he can go the distance, and proclaims that the one with the most falls will become the WWF Champion, then tells The Rock to look deep down inside and see if he can hang, as he knows that he can, and asks if he can accept that the truth will be told when he is on his back one hour later and looking into his eyes knowing that he can't hang with him. Vince then takes the microphone, but he is almost immediately interrupted by Chris Jericho. Jericho apologizes to Vince for being impulsive, following his heart and punching him in the face last week, saying it was instinct much like how the fans call Shane a "pussy", how Stephanie is a "filthy, dirty, disgusting, skanky, brutal bottom-feeding trash bag ho" or Vince is a multi-billionaire to make up for the fact that he has a very small penis. Vince says there is nothing stopping him and everyone else in the ring from coming up the ramp and kicking Jericho's ass, but Rikishi, Big Show and The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) show up, and everyone backs up. Vince tells Jericho he is misinformed, as he has "a set of grapefruits down there" and grapefruits grow on trees. He says that every tree has a trunk and that Jericho will be wishing he was dangling from the end of his trunk by the end of the night before making him defend the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Kurt Angle before guaranteeing that Jericho will not be leaving the arena with the title. Shane asks Big Show what he is doing on the stage following his actions from last week, and says he is acting like a fool by pretending to be different characters before proclaiming that they will settle the score once and for all. Vince then puts The Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match against Gerald Brisco and puts Rikishi in a match against Pat Patterson. He then says there is a fine line between insanity and genius, and that the fans will be reminded of his "superior mental acumen" before the night is over.

Before the next match, Kurt Angle says he is honored that the McMahon-Helmsley has picked him to take the WWF Intercontinental Championship from Chris Jericho tonight, and that he is privileged to defend the honor of Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, as Stephanie possesses something that nobody in Long Island, New York never could: class. He also says that when Jericho insults Stephanie, he insults everything that is good and pure about society today.

Chris Jericho retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Kurt Angle with the Walls of Jericho. After the match, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon - who is irritated with Jericho's title victory - is confronted by Big Show, and Shane tells Big Show that he did not want to take him on himself, and that he wanted him to be angry and focused so he can become a champion again - especially with him in his corner - as he tells him that he has a match with Jericho for the Intercontinental title while taking a call from his stockbroker.

Before the next match, it is announced that Chyna will be on Good Morning America tomorrow morning. Also before the match, The Godfather says that when Lita ripped Chyna's clothes off at Backlash, she was "smokin'," and that she impressed The Godfather so much that he is willing to let go of all of his hos if Chyna joins the ho train. Chyna entertains the idea before telling him to take his women to the back as she smacks him with the roses in her hands.

Eddie Guerrero beats The Godfather. During the match, D'Lo Brown gets in the ring and hits The Godfather with a Sky High as Chyna distracts referee Tim White to give Eddie the win.

WAR ZONE

Before the next match, Gerald Brisco announces that he has brought T&A (Test and Albert) to the match as his tag team partners.

The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) beat T&A (Test and Albert) and Gerald Brisco in a 3-on-2 Tables Match. After the match, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James and Tori show up to stop Gerald Brisco from being attacked further. Brisco grabs a table and puts Buh Buh Ray through it with a splash from the top rope.

We see another "judgment day" vignette.

Chris Jericho retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship by count-out. During the match, footage of Shane telling his stockbroker that he has Big Show "wrapped around [his] finger" is played on the TitanTron, which turns Big Show against WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to the point that he chases him to the back, giving Jericho the count-out win. After teh match, Shane runs into a limousine to get away from Big Show. Afterwards, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon tells WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley that he will keep his promise and guarantee that Jericho will not walk out of the arena as a champion by putting him in his third title defense of the night against Chris Benoit.

Too Cool (Grandmasta Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty) beat The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan. After the match, Boss Man and Buchanan continue to attack Too Cool until The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) go after them. Too Cool then dances afterwards.

In the locker room, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko have an argument, and Chris Benoit steps between them to tell them top stop. Eddie Guerrero shows up and says that Saturn is just as talented as everyone else in the room and will get a title shot eventually before saying that Chyna might be able to introduce someone to Malenko, but Malenko and Saturn brush him off.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) beat The Radicalz (Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn) after Saturn inadvertently superkicks Malenko. After the match, Malenko and Saturn argue again, and Eddie Guerrero and Chyna show up in time to get attacked by Malenko and Saturn. Referees have to get involved before everything gets even more physical.

Before the next match, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon shows up with Gerald Brisco and introduces Patterson to his tag team partners: D-Generation X (X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James).

Rikishi Fatu beats Pat Patterson and D-Generation X (X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James) by disqualification after Patterson hits Rikishi with a steel chair. After the match, Pat Patterson strips down to his underwear - complete with a brown stain on the back - and puts the Stinkface on Rikishi. Patterson and DX are then chased out of the ring by Grandmasta Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty.

Triple H introduces himself as "the self-appointed special troubleshooting referee who will be on the outside" for the next match.

Chris Benoit beats Chris Jericho to become the WWF Intercontinental Champion! During the match, Benoit gets in an argument with the referee, and special troubleshooter Triple H gets in the ring to confront Benoit only to punch out the referee and take his place. Later on in the match, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley shows up, and Triple H focuses on her while Benoit taps out to the Walls of Jericho. Jericho stomps Triple H for not paying attention, and Triple H attacks Jericho from behind before calling for the bell as soon as Benoit locks in the Crippler Crossface despite Jericho never tapping out. After the match, the McMahon-Helmsley regime shows up, and X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James joins Triple H in a post-match attack on Jericho that ends in a Pedigree. Stephanie also slaps Jericho in the face, and WWF Chairman Vince McMahon is about to hit Jericoh with a steel chair when Big Show, Too Cool (Grandmasta Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rikishi Fatu) and The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) chase the McMahon-Helmsley regime out of the ring to end the show.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for April 13, 2000

Before the next match, Eddie Guerrero hands Chyna a glass vase full of roses, then says that as a true European Champion from Europe, it would be a disgrace to the European Championship if it were to fall into the hands of an islander from Samoa. He asks if anyone knows where Samoa is, then tells Chyna that while Rikishi may have the biggest ass in the world, he has the biggest supply of Latino heat in the world.

Rikishi Phatu beats Eddie Guerrero by disqualification, and Eddie Guerrero retains the WWF European Championship. During the match, Rikishi inadvertently elbows referee Mike Chioda in the face, and while Chioda is down, Chyna counters a potential Banzai Drop onto Eddie by smashing the vase of roses into Rikishi's face. Rikishi manages to kick out at two afterwards, however. Later in the match, Chyna tries to hit RIkishi with a low blow from behind only for Rikishi to notice her. Eddie drop kicks Rikishi, but Rikishi squashes Chyna in the corner. Rikishi lays the Stinkface on Chyna, and when he goes for a spike piledriver on Eddie, Chyna hits Rikishi with a low blow to end the match.

Backstage, Triple H is feeding WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley grapes when WWF co-owner Shane McMahon and Triple H agree that last Monday night was pretty fun and that they can do more of the same if anyone gets in their way tonight. Shane proposes they go out and have even more fun than they did on Raw, and Stephanie says they should make WWF Chairman Vince McMahon - who is not here tonight - proud. Suddenly, The Rock is seen entering the arena with his head bandaged, and Triple H responds by saying "Let the games begin."

Triple H and WWF co-owners Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Shane McMahon show up. Shane recaps the events of last Monday's Raw and says that Triple H was true to his word when he said he would turn it up a notch by having The Rock lay at their feet "with the lifeblood of The Rock's blood oozing onto the mat." Shane tells Triple H that was a proud moment, and congratulates Triple H while saying he is proud is WWF Champion. He also says that he is proud that Triple H is his brother-in-law. Stephanie says Triple H and Shane get her so choked up, and says they are going to make her cry as she is emotional just like WWF Chairman Vince McMahon. She knows Vince is watching at home right now, and while she knows he wanted to keep this as a surprise, she announces that when Triple H defends the WWF Championship against The Rock, Vince is going to be in Triple H's corner. Triple H says he is both honored and flattered that Vince would do that, but he does not want Vince coming in thinking he can steal his thunder, as he wants to do this his own. Nevertheless, Vince can be in his corner with a front row seat to the match. Triple H then says he gave The Rock a lesson in what it takes to be a real WWF Champion and to be the best on Raw, and says it takes a lot of sweat, a lot of tears, and "a whole lot of [The Rock's] blood." He tells The Rock that if he keeps coming back, he will keep teaching him that same lesson, and if it takes him a million times, he will teach him that lesson over and over. He then says it does not matter how much sweat comes out of his body, how many tears comes from his eyes and how much blood pumps out of his body, it will all be for nothing, as he will never be WWF Champion because he cannot beat him. Suddenly, The Rock shows up, and Triple H tells The Rock that he knows he is in front of his home state to talk about his chance at becoming WWF Champion, and says he has thought long and hard about when and where to give him his shot. He admits that Tampa, Florida would be "a hell of a place," but then says the match is so big that they might as well make it a bigger place because the match is so important. He then proposes they do it in Washington, D.C. - the site of Backlash in three weeks. The Rock says that Triple H did it all to him on Monday night and left him laying in a pool of his own blood and barely able to stand, but as sure as Triple H is "surrounded by a silver spoon jackass and by a bargain basement bitch," he walked out with his shot at the WWF Championship. He tells Triple, Shane and Stephanie to bring on Vince McMahon, and since they will be in Washington, D.C., they might as well bring on Congress, the Senate, the Vice President, the President, and even a dug-up George Washington., as there is nobody who will be able to stop him from whipping Triple H's candy ass. Triple H says The Rock is full of himself for somebody who lost half his blood on Monday night, and says that The Rock isn't even at 60 to 70% of his best right nowHe then says it does not really matter what percentage he is at, because tonight, it will be the two of them. Shane whispers something in Triple H's ear, then Triple H tells The Rock it will not be for the WWF Championship. He then tells The Rock to round up The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) and bring them to the ring with him while he brings The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan for a six-man tag team match. The Rock asks Triple H if this is the best he can come up with, then tells him it doesn't matter because at Backlash, he promises to the people that he will whip Triple H's candy ass and walk out WWF Champion.

We see footage from earlier today where Al Snow and "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman head to a nursing home, where Blackman finds out that he has to perform stand-up comedy.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) beat The Radicalz (Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit) following a Jeff Hardy Swanton Bomb on Dean Malenko during a pinfall attempt as referee Tim White is distracted by Chris Benoit.

Backstage, Triple H and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon tell Kurt Angle that they were wrong about him and that they agree that he was screwed at WrestleMania. They give him an opportunity to win the WWF Tag Team Championships when he teams with Big Show tonight.

Perry Saturn beats Crash Holly after superkicking a cookie sheet into Crash's face to win the WWF Hardcore Championship! After the match, Tazz runs into the ring with referee Jimmy Korderas in tow, and smashes the cookie sheet into Saturn's head to win the Hardcore Championship from Saturn. Crash then grabs the cookie sheet and smashes it into Tazz's head, and wins the WWF Hardcore Championship back from Tazz. Saturn and Tazz then go at it, and referees have to run in to restore order.

Back at the nursing home in footage from earlier today, Al Snow is the only person laughing as Blackman does not have the chops for stand-up comedy.

Before the next match, Kurt Angle says that tonight, his quest to reacquire championship gold has come to an end, as he the has the one partner guaranteed to bring home the tag team titles in Big Show. When Big Show arrives, however, he arrives to "Rowdy" Roddy Piper's music in a kilt and a beret, eating a donut and drinking bottled water. Backstage, Triple H and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon laugh it up. Angle asks Big Show what he is doing, and Big Show speaks in a Scottish accent as he says he is trying to have a little fun. Angle says he is here to win championship gold, but Show says that while he is here for championship gold, he is also here to show everyone what is underneath his kilt. Angle tries to persuade him not to do it as there are children present, then the next match begins.

Edge and Christian retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against Big Show and Kurt Angle by count-out after Kurt Angle slaps Big Show for not taking the match seriously only for Big Show to beat him up outside of the ring.

Backstage near a water cooler, Chris Jericho asks Tori and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley where The Godather is. Jericho walks away when he finds out he is talking to Tori and Stephanie and not two of The Godfather's hos.

Buh Buh Ray Dudley beats Albert. After the match, Test attacks D-Von Dudley, then Trish Stratus pulls a table out from underneath the ring. Test sets the table up in the middle of the ring, while D-Von Dudldey grabs a steel chair and smashes it into Test's back before he can put Buh Buh Ray through the table. After a steel chair head shot to Albert, Buh Buh Ray splashes Albert through the table from the top rope.

In the locker room, Chris Jericho apologize to Tori and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. Stephanie wishes Chris Jericho luck in his match against X-Pac tonight, then tells him that he will also be facing "Road Dogg" Jesse James during that match, effectively making Jericho's match a 2-on-1 handicap match.

Wade Boggs of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays is seen in the front row.

We see more footage from earlier today of "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman's attempts at stand-up comedy at the nursing home. After telling a woman who says he sucks at stand-up that her mother is so hairy that Bigfoot takes pictures of her, the woman responds by saying "My mother died in '64...you heartless bitch!" Blackman finally snaps and pulls out his nunchaku, much to the disappointment of Al Snow.

The Kat and Mae Young beat Terri Runnels and The Fabulous Moolah.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho welcomes everyone to "Tampa is Jericho," then says that he has seemingly insulted WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley when he mistake her for one of The Godfather's ho. He says that he was going to apologize in the ring, but since he has been put in a 2-on-1 handicap match and is about to be screwed anyway, he might as well get his money's worth. He then says that The Rock and all the Jerichoholics were correct in calling Stephanie a "bargain basement bitch." Jericho then calls Stephanie "the filthiest, dirtiest, most disgusting, skankiest, brutal, bottom-feeding trash bag ho" that he has ever seen in his life while Stephanie and Triple H watch from backstage.

D-Generation X (X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James) beat Chris Jericho in a 2-on-1 handicap match. During the match, Tori gets involved, but Jericho catches her hand as she tries to slap him and puts her in the Walls of Jericho. Road Dogg then kicks Jericho in the back of the head so that X-Pac can hit X Factor for the win while WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and a friend of hers watch backstage

Backstage, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon chews out referee Earl Hebner and threatens to fire him from last week while Triple H watches. Triple H stops Shane and puts him on probation, and tells him that if he screws up again, he is fired.

We see footage from earlier today where Al Snow and "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman are leaving the nursing home. Al Snow tells Blackman he cannot go around hitting elderly people with his nunchaku, but Blackman says "She annoyed me."

WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley shows up with her friend from earlier. Stephanie says she understands how hard it is for the fans to look at the WWF Superstars and their hard bodies, and says it is a lot tougher for them to look out at all of the fans. She and her friend call the fans "fat, lazy, cellulite-ridden people," and says that they make her sick. Stephanie says she represents not only all the women out there, but also all the men "and your fat kids, too." Stephanie then decides to do a public service, and introduces her friend, who happens to be her personal trainer - and now the fans' - Muffy. As this goes on, The Rock asks The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) backstage if they are man enough to tell him whether or not Triple H bought them off, but Faarooq tells them they are man enough to not tell him anything and Bradshaw says he is just going to have to trust them.

Triple H, The Big Boss and Bull Buchanan vs. The Rock and The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) ends in a no-contest. During the match, referee Earl Hebner shoves Triple H out of the corner as he is taking the boots to Faarooq, and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon confronts Hebner from the apron and verbally berates him. Hebner responds by pushing Shane off the apron before making it clear to Triple H that he is the referee of the match and will be calling it right down the middle. Later on in the match, X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James get involved but The Acolytes fight them and get them out of the ring, leaving The Rock and Triple H by themselves in the ring. The Rock hits the spinebuster on Triple H, but when Shane hits The Rock from behind, The Rock chases Shane to the commentary table and puts him through it to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for April 10, 2000

RAW

The Rock shows up to start tonight's show. He shows footage from last Thursday's SmackDown main event, where The Rock got his hands on WWF Chairman Vince McMahon and hitting him in the head with a steel chair, and says there is still one more shot that he wants Vince to see and remember forever: Vince laid out on the entrance ramp with The Rock's boot on his chest. He says that after all the humiliation he has put Vince and his children through, he still wants more. Tonight, he wants his shot at the WWF Championship in the place that he calls home. Suddenly, Vince shows up with a steel chair, and The Rock says one of three things will happen: Vince putting the chair down, Vince will attempt to hit him with the chair, and The Rock will turn the chair sideways and stick it straight up his candy ass. Vince says he will put the chair down, but if he makes one move towards him, he will hit him in the head so hard his brains will be crushed papaya. As for The Rock's shot at the WWF Championship tonight, The Rock will be given an opportunity, and should be be victorious against opposition to be named later tonight, he will get his shot at the title. He then points at the ceiling, and a steel cage comes down. The Rock must win a steel cage match in order to get his shot at the WWF Championship, but Vince makes it clear that he is not giving any more gifts and that The Rock must earn everything he gets. Vince then says that somewhere deep down, The Rock is wondering who he is and why he is who he is, and reminds The Rock that he made him who he is over a year ago. He reminds The Rock of his time as the "corporate champion," and admits that while The Rock would have been a star without him, he would never have been a superstar, and he would have been relegated to playing Doink the Clown, the Gobbledygooker or a Bastion Booger. Instead, thanks to him, The Rock became a superstar, became a guest host for Saturday Night Live, became a guest on The Tonight Show, got offers for television shows and movie and even had a best-selling book. Vince then says he was looking for one thing from The Rock and never got it, and that one thing was The Rock looking him in the eye and giving him a "thank you." Vince then places his hand on The Rock's shoulder, then removes it, and says that he chose WrestleMania to humiliate him and remind him of who he is. When The Rock asks Vince if that is what he thinks, and Vince calls The Rock "a complete ingrate." The Rock then tells Vince he "wipes a monkey's ass" with what he thinks, and Vince wants to know what is up with "wiping a monkey's ass" and "licking a llama's anus," and says it is strange thinking and a fixation for the rectal cavity that is not normal, as well as a fixation for feces. He then says that if The Rock took all the feces from the people in a 24-hour period and put it in one giant pizza oven, then everyone would be able to smell what The Rock is cooking. Triple H and WWF co-owners Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Shane McMahon then show up, and as The Rock is distracted, Vince tries to hit The Rock from behind with a steel chair. The Rock takes it from him and hits Vince with it, and keeps everyone else out of the ring.

D-Generation X (X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James) beat Edge and Christian to become the WWF Tag Team Champions after Road Dogg uses the belt as a weapon against Christian behind referee Mike Chioda's back...almost. Referee Earl Hebner runs in and tells Chioda what has happened, and Chioda restarts the match, declaring that the match will continue. Edge and Christian quickly retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against D-Generation X shortly after the match is restarted.

Backstage, The Godfather is seen with a few of his hos.

In footage from earlier today, The Kat is reading Raw Magazine when Terri Runnels shows up. Terri asks The Kat if her phone has yet to stop ringing off the hook, then apologizes for her past actions and treats her to a day of beauty in a local spa. The Kat accepts her apology and says she will be right there.

Before the next match, Kurt Angle says he is glad that everyone in the crowd is happy and in such a great mood tonight, as he would like to talk about something that gives him great joy: the joy of celibacy. He says the "three I's" are great, but he has had so much success because of the "big A" known as abstinence. He then says that unlike many people in the crowd, he is voluntarily abstinent. Angle then talks about how The Godfather parades out his "filth and debauchery" before giving him a little surprise: a prophylactic. He pulls out a condom, and says that it is time that The Godfather starts to use them. He then tells the children that they can prance and they can dance, but when it comes to relations, keep it in your pants. The Godfather then attacks Angle, starting the next match.

Kurt Angle beats The Godfather despite being slapped by one of The Godfather's hos for using her as a human shield.

We see footage from earlier today where The Kat and Terri Runnels enter a limousine, which speeds off. A red low rider then arrives, and inside is Chyna and Eddie Guerrero, who are entering the arena.

Backstage, Big Show talks with WWF owner Shane McMahon, saying he is going to let it all hang out and he is going to cut loose. He then walks away from the camera and takes his shirt off before throwing it to Shane.

The Radicalz (Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko) beat Tazz and Too Cool (Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi Phatu).

In footage from earlier today, Francois works on The Kat's hair at the spa while Teri Runnels puts something in The Kat's cup of soda. The Kat then drinks the drugged soda.

The Acolytes Protection Agency (Faarooq and Bradshaw) accompany Kaientai (Taka Michinoku and Funaki) to the ring for the next match, and they chase WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to the back.

Triple H retains the WWF Championship against Taka Michinoku. During the match, Funaki baseball slides Triple H into The Acolytes Protection Agency (Faarooq and Bradshaw), who take the inadvertent attack from behind as one that was done on purpose and proceed to attack Triple H before throwing him back in the ring. As referee Earl Hebner is distracted, Funaki and Taka both hit Triple H from the top rope, but Triple H kicks out at two. After words WWF Chairman Vince McMahon and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon show up, and The Acolytes Protection Agency are about to beat them up when they are attacked from behind by The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan. Triple H then hits Taka with the Pedigree to retain. After the match, Funaki also receives a Pedigree, then puts the boots to The Acolytes Protection Agency along with Vince and Shane.

WAR ZONE

T&A (Test and Albert) attack The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) backstage at the command of Trish Stratus, who says that if The Dudleys want to put their hands on her, then it is time T&A put their hands on them.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) beat T&A (Test and Albert). After the match, The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) run into the ring and hit Test with a Dudley Death Drop before setting up a tbale in the middle of the ring. Trish Stratus gets on the apron, distracting the Dudleys and allowing Albert to attack the Dudleys from behind and put Buh Buh Ray through a table.

Before the next match, Big Show shows up wearing a towel and a brown wig of long hair in an attempt to mock Val Venis. He then says it is not the motion of the ocean, but the size of the boat that turns women on. He then tells them to pay no attention to the "S.S. Minnow" in the ring and to buy a ticket for the Big Show Titanic if they want to see the real thing. Venis then takes the microphone and tells Big Show that if his brain was as big as his mouth, he would have realized a long time ago that the Titanic sank. He then says that it was not an iceberg that sank the Titanic; instead, it was Big Show's "dimply, fat ass."

Val Venis beats Big Show by disqualification when he uses his long brown wig as a weapon and proceeds to choke Venis out with it.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho tells Eddie Guerrero and Chyna that, regardless of what they believe, he is ecstatic that they are together. He then asks which one of them is the man in the relationship and which one of them has the bigger package before saying the Taco Bell chihuahua has more Latino Heat than Eddie, then says that at least "the Taco Bell chihuahua's bitch is housebroken."

Eddie Guerrero retains the WWF European Championship against Chris Jericho. During the match, Chyna hands the WWF European Championship to Eddie Guerrero, and Jericho and Eddie fight over the belt. Jericho sends Eddie into the back of referee Tim White, knocking him out, and Chyna hits Jericho with a low blow and a DDT before placing Eddie on top of Jericho. Tim White gets up and counts the pinfall, and Eddie retains.

In footage from earlier today, The Kat wkaes up to find out that her hair and make-up and messed up and that the word "Trash" is written on her forehead. Terri also hands The Kat's Pomeranian to her, and the dog is revealed to have its hair cut off so that it looks like it has the mane of a lion.

Before the next match, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon, Triple H and WWF co-owners Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley show up to watch from ringside. It is then revealed that The Rock's opponents are The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan.

The Rock beats The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan in a 2-on-1 handicap Steel Cage Match. After the match, Triple H gets in the ring and attacks The Rock, then puts on a brass knuckle and punches The Rock in the face before WWF co-owner Shane McMahon punches out referee Earl Hebner. Triple H then bust The Rock open with the brass knuckle before putting him in the Pedigree. WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley then hands WWF Chairman Vince McMahon a steel chair, then Triple H tells The Rock that if he wants to be in a game with him, then he is in it now and that he is done playing games with him. He then tells The Rock that he is his worst nightmare and that this is just step one. Vince and Shane then pick The Rock up, and Triple H is about to hit The Rock with another Pedigree when The Acolytes Protection Agency (Faarooq and Bradshaw) show up, attack Boss Man and Buchanana from behind, and chase everyone out of the ring.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for November 18, 1999

The show begins with D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) beating up Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. Triple H tells an internally bleeding Pat Patterson to tell WWF Chairman Vince McMahon that he has made this too personal.

Test, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon, WWF co-owners Shane and Stephanie McMahon come out of their limo and are immediately notified by Sgt. Slaughter that D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) have attacked Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. Patterson and Brisco are tended to, and Vince tells Sgt. Slaugher that he wants Triple H in the back now.

Too Cool (Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty) beat Edge and Christian after referee Mike Chioda is busy outside the ring with Edge. After the match, Edge and Christian continue to fight Too Cool.

Sgt. Slaughter tells WWF Chairman Vince McMahon that Triple H demands that Vince see him. Vince tells Sgt. Slaughter he'll be right there.

WWF Chairman Vince McMahon, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon and Test confront D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) backstage. Vince reminds Triple H he is no longer WWF Champion; instead, he is a chump. He tells them there will be no more backstage beatdowns, and that it stops tonight. Triple H tells Vince he warned him not to make this personal, but Vince says it is already personal.

Kurt Angle quickly beats Gangrel. Before the match, the man with the "World Wide Filth/WWF Is Immoral" sign is seen in the front row again. During the match, Kurt Angle grabs the microphone and chews out the crowd for cheering a man who looks like a vampire - and Luna - than an Olympic gold medalist and American hero.

Test is playing WWF WrestleMania 2000 - and beating up a virtual Triple H - while WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon opens wedding presents.

D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) are seen plotting something backstage.

Test is still playing WWF WrestleMania 2000 when WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon gets a gift containing a stuffed frog (thankfully not of the taxidermist variety) and a note reading "Your gift is in the limo, so hop to it!" Test offers to get the gift for it, as it is cold outside. The camera follows Test as he heads outside to a limousine, where he is attacked from behind by D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) and stuffed in the back of a car that "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn drives off in.

Before the next match, The Godfather confronts The British Bulldog for the cheap shots from behind the last time they met, and tells him that the only spanking that he will have at the hotel room is him "spanking his monkey."

The British Bulldog retains the WWF European Championship against The Godfather. During the match, The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) show up and give the hos money at ringside. When The Godfather catches wind of this, he sees the man with the sign from Raw and yanks the sign from him. The Mean Street Posse take advantage of the situation as the man is escorted out by WWF head of security Jim Dotson, and The British Bulldog is able to get the win.

WWF Chairman Vince McMahon and WWF co-owner Shane McMan confront D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James) over Test's sudden disappearance, they also hold WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon back when she rushes at Triple H. Vince threatens to call the police, and Triple H tells Vince to keep Stephanie off of him or else he will beat her ass, too.

Tori is getting some coffee when Viscera makes a pass at her, comparing his size to that of X-Pac's. Kane runs in and beats him up, and officials have to separate both men.

Big Show retains the WWF Championship against Hardcore Holly. Crash Holly tries to help, but Big Show is able to care of both Hollys with ease, and not only is Crash unable to break up the pinfall, but he also gets choke slammed after the match. After that, The Big Boss Man runs into the ring and hits The Big Boss Man with his nightstick.

Test and the car that "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn was driving are back, and Test is helped back inside.

WWF Chairman Vince McMahon calls for security to ensure another backstage beatdown does not happen again. Test's nose is bloodied up, but thankfully, he is fine.

Kane beats Viscera. During the match, Tori checks on Kane, and Viscera grabs her and asks her if she wants to be a ho. Tori slaps her, but Viscera eventually gets on top of her. Kane catches up to Viscera and sends him back to the ring, where he eventually choke slams him for the win.

Triple H tries not to laugh as he heads to WWF Chairman Vince McMahon's office, and tells him that everything has gone too far. He apologizes for what "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn did and gives WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon a wedding gift: a baseball catcher's mask. Vince, obviously seeing the sexual connotations behind the catcher's mask, throws it to the side and slams the door, and Triple H laughs as he walks away.

Jim Ross is on the phone with the detectives from Raw, and tells him that he considers Jerry "The King" Lawler a "restaurant quality ass."

WWF chairman Vince McMahon asks local law enforcement to guard his dressing room.

Ivory retains the WWF Women's Championship against Jacqueline and Luna Vachon in a Hardcore Triple Threat Match that sees action in the women's locker room, the men's restroom and the concessions stand.

Mankind and Al Snow are seen in Las Vegas, Nevada. Through the "Vegas Invasion Cam," Al Snow and Mankind have fun chasing some guy around the casino for impersonating The Rock.

We see more footage of Al Snow and Mankind in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they ride the Tower of Terror, go to a gentlemen's club, and even perform music on stage.

It is announced that Chyna is getting surgery for her shattered right thumb as "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry makes his way to the ring. Henry says there is not many things that he hates, but one of those things he hates is a woman-beater. He mentions his past with Chyna, and says that breaking her thumb means he is kicking somebody's ass. Chris Jericho shows up, and it is announced that Chyna will not be pressing charges against Jericho. Jericho says he cannot believe that Mark Henry is stupid enough to stand for Chyna's honor and that all she had to do was admit he was the better man at Survivor Series. But she didn't, and she will not be doing any hitchhiking any time soon. He jokes about Chyna getting a "no-thumb discount" at the manicurist, then he tells Mark Henry that he now knows who the better man is.

Chris Jericho quickly beats "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry.

The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) are talking to the detectives from Raw on a payphone. Needless to say, they do not have any useful information for them.

Lilian Garcia interviews The Rock. He tells The Big Boss Man that he beat him on Raw and that it took help from Prince Albert to do it. Now Boss Man is #1 contender for the WWF Championship, and he slowly claps for him, which leads to a chant for The Rock. He knows in time, he will be the WWF Champion, and his fans know that in due time, the best damn WWF Champion there ever was. He tells Boss Man he can have his #1 contender spot, as he has a title that Boss Man or anyone else cannot have: The People's Champion. Tonight, he will lay the smack down on Boss Man's candy ass.

Before the next match, The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) claim that they love to kick it doggy style "with The Hardy Boyz' (Jeff and Matt Hardy) mama." This starts the next match early.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy). During the match, Matt Hardy accidentally takes out referee Tim White with a leg lariat that is meant for Billy Gunn, who ducks out of the way. X-Pac shows up and takes out both of the Hardys, but Matt Hardy covers Road Dogg. Billy Gunn pulls Tim White out of the ring to break the pinfall, and X-Pac hits Matt Hardy with the X-Factor as Tim White is distract to allow The Outlaws to retain.

As WWF co-owner Shane and Stephanie McMahon talk with Test, they smell something burning, as does WWF Chairman Vince McMahon.

After the commercial break, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon is the first to crawl out of WWF Chairman Vince McMahon's dressing room as smoke is seen billowing out of the room. Test and Vince are helped out of the room, but WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon is nowhere to be seen. It is assumed that a fire has been started somehow in Vince McMahon's dressing room.

The Rock beats The Big Boss Man after a potential nightstick attack by The Big Boss Man is stopped cold with a Rock Bottom. After the match, Prince Albert and The Boss Man attack The Rock, but Big Show runs into the ring and choke slams Boss Man. The Hollys (Hardcore and Crash Holly) run into the ring, but they both fall victim to a Rock Bottom.

Triple H shows up. It is announced on commentary that WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon is confirmed to be okay. Backstage, WWF Chairman Vince McMahon tells security that he knows that Triple H had something to do with this, and tells them to stay with Test and WWF co-owners Shane and Stephanie McMahon, and to place them safely in the limo. Vince says that he has business to settle with Triple H, and Shane says that if Vince is staying, then security should stay. Security follows Vince to the ring while Shane, Stephanie and Test head to the limousine alone. He says that it all started out as business, and he busted his ass to get what he wanted and became WWF Champion through guts, determination, hard work, blood, sweat and tears. Unfortunately, it burned a hole in Vince and ate him alive as he did it on his own without his help and he wasn't "one of Vince's boys." He then says it came down to Survivor Series, where Vince screwed him out of the WWF Championship and stole it from him. He says that Vince committed a crime against him personally, which left him with no choice but to have D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) get personal with him. As a result, they have gotten personal with his entire family, which leaves only one thing left to do: Vince taking the walk down to the ring to stand man-to-man and eye-to-eye with him. When that happens, he will get personal with Vince, whom he then calls out. He says that this is between the two of them, and he tells Vince to leave the police backstage. Vince McMahon shows up alone, and takes off his jacket, but Triple H threatens to sue him for everything he has if he lays a hand on him, as he knows he would beat his "weathered, old, bad hair having ass" half to death in this ring and he would be fired as sure as the day is long. Triple H says that will not happen, and he proposes they do it another way: Vince heads back home, goes to the office, gets his lawyers to draw up some papers to state at a specified date that they will meet face-to-face in the ring so they can get as personal as they can possibly get. He wants those papers, and he wants a clause in the contract that states that no matter how badly he beats him, Vince, his family or the company cannot do anything to him afterwards, whether it be a firing or a monetary attack, after he beats him close to the edge of his life. Triple H then says the perfect date for that would be at Armageddon, where it will be the two of them one more time, and then it will be done. Before Vince can tell Triple H if he has a deal, a scream can be heard, and Test and WWF co-owners Shane and Stephanie McMahon are seen knocked down at the bottom of a stairwell on the TitanTron. Vince immediately runs to the back, and the show ends.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for September 16, 1999

We see footage from earlier today, where the WWF referees are on strike outside of the arena following what happened earlier this week on Raw.

It is announced that there will be a Six-Pack Challenge between The Undertaker, Big Show, The Rock, Mankind, Kane and Triple H for the WWF Championship at SummerSlam, due to there being no #1 contender for the WWF Championship.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up. He says that just because he got disqualified on Raw does not mean Triple H is through with him. When he came to the ring, he came to beat Triple H's ass, and that's what he did. He says referee Earl Hebner was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He says that when Triple H beat his legs with the steel chair at SummerSlam, he should have bashed his brains in as he did not get the job down and that Triple H will be hunted down for as long as he can breathe, and he will serve him a can of whupass in front of the whole world. Austin then says they can do this the easy way or the hard way. Triple H can either show up and give him his rematch for the WWF Championship here tonight in a no-holds-barred match, or he can be carted out in a bodybag. Triple H and Chyna show up with their police escort, and Triple H tells Austin that he isn't getting anything because he blew his opportunity, and says he can kiss his ass. He then says he has been ordered to defend the WWF Championship tonight, and says that the crowd can kiss his ass for calling him an asshole. Triple H then announces that he will defend the title against a main event competitor of his choice, but it will not be Austin. However, it will be someone Austin has shared the ring with. He then says this is as close as Austin will ever get to the WWF title again. Austin then tells Triple H that he can prance around all he wants and talk about title matches, but he will be following him all night long, so he had better grow eyes in the back of his head as he will be so far up his ass that he won't be able to walk again.

WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up. Cindy Margolis is seen in the audience. Shane says he and The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) go way back, but this is about the happiness of his sister Stephanie McMahon. He demands that Joey Abs get in the ring with him right now, so he can show him what brotherly love is all about. Joey Abs shows up with Terri Runnels and the rest of the Posse, and Shane gets the match started with a dive on all three men, even though there is absolutely no referee in the ring. Test and Stephanie are seen watching this match from backstage, then Gerald Brisco shows up with a referee's shirt, which temporarily distracts Joey Abs.

Shane McMahon beats Joey Abs. During the match, Pete Gas drags referee Gerald Brisco out of the ring, and Brisco fights back. Rodney gets involved, but Joey Abs accidentally punches Rodney out of the ring. Shane hits Joey Abs with a low blow, then Pat Patterson shows up in a referee's shirt. Rodney pulls Patterson out of the ring during a pinfall attempt and fights him in the crowd. A third referee shows up in the form of Shawn Stasiak, and he makes the count when Shane hits a top rope splash to get one over on The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs). Stephanie McMahon runs to the ring and celebrates with Shane in the ring, while Test watches from the stage. Stephanie then kicks Joey Abs in the abs. Cindy Margolis is seen on camera again, and Ivory is seen backstage, sneering as she heads to the ring with the WWF Women's Championship.

Ivory shows up. He says one of the nicest things about being WWF Women's Champion is that she gets to meet very important people, with her favorites being the movie stars. She mentions that Cindy Margolis is in the audience tonight, and asks her to stand up for the people. She does, and Ivory asks Cindy Margolis to do her the honor of joining him in the ring. Cindy gets in the ring, and as Ivory runs down Cindy's recent accomplishments - which includes being the most downloaded woman on the Internet - and asks Cindy to show one of those striking poses that she does on the Internet, and asks her to lay down on the mat and do one of the bikini poses. Cindy refuses, then Ivory grabs and demands she does it before she lays her down herself and calls her a bitch. Suddenly, Jeff Jarrett shows up and puts Cindy Margolis in the Figure Four Leg Lock to send a message to Chyna as Ivory cheers him on. Jeff Jarrett and Ivory then high-five each other, then Jarrett puts ivory in the Figure Four.

Lilian Garcia interviews Triple H, who says that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will not be challenging him for the WWF Championship, and says that Austin had better be hoping that he doesn't start looking for him tonight. As this interview goes on, Austin can be seen hiding behind some curtains, overhearing the interview and making good on his promise that he will be following him around.

"Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry beats "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman after Blackman is attacked from behind by Val Venis with a kendo stick behind the referee's back. Backstage official Tony Garea is the referee for this match. After the match, D'Lo Brown attacks Mark Henry and puts him in the Sky High.

Cindy Margolis is being placed in an ambulance when Jeff Jarrett tells her that her injury is a message from him to Chyna, and tells her to "download that." Test shows up and tells Jarrett to chill out, and this starts a brawl between Test and Jarrett.

Terry Taylor interviews Jeff Jarrett, who says that Test is a dumb "dime a dozen" blonde just like Cindy Margolis and that he will challenge Test to a match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. When he is done with test, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon won't even recognize him.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho shows up and says he is one bad mamma jamma, and that he has tremendous news. "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock has finally admitted defeat, and that backstage, he admitted that Jericho is the world's most dangerous man and that he is much tougher than he is. He then proceeded to get on his hands and knees and beg him to make sure that they never, ever meet face-to-face again, then licked the dust off his boots in gratitude for hiring Curtis Hughes to keep him from tearing his limb from limb. For this reason, he has allowed Curtis Hughes to take his place his match in this match tonight, and he has also scoured the streets of the city to find a referee qualified to work in this match, and he found that and so much more. That official is the great Mexican official: Manuel Garcia Lopez, or as he is better known, El Dopo. A referee in a green mask runs to the ring, then Ken Shamrock shows up. Chris Jericho then guests on commentary.

Curtis Hughes beats "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock by disqualification after Shamrock does not let go of the ankle lock, even though there was no five-count. During the match, Chris Jericho gets involved in the match, and El Dopo does not ring the bell. Shamrock grabs El Dopo and unmasks him, and El Dopo is ring announcer Howard Finkel. The Fink begs for forgiveness, but Shamrock boots him to the mat.

Lilian Garcia interviews Mankind, who says tonight's five man Royal Rumble Rules Match might be total mayhem, but he and The Rock will act as a team as there in as inexplicable bond between them like a finely-tuned automobile, with The Rock being the front end and him being "The People's Rear End." He says that the only thing cooler than being picked to face Triple H for the WWF Championship is if The Rock is picked, so he can get some new material for catchphrases.

We see more footage from outside the arena from earlier today where the referees are on strike.

Before the next match, The Rock tells The Undertaker, Mankind, Kane and Big Show that they all can go down to the Tropicana Hotel right up the road, find the absolute best slot machine they can find, which has a Brahma bull on the front and has the words "The People's Slot Machine" on it. One of them will pull the handle and get three Brahma bulls, and they get the jackpot and jump around like a bunch of idiots. The Rock mocks all of his challenges while conjuring up images of Kane doing cartwheels and Big Show scaring everybody. He then says the doors will open, and he will arrive. Tears will run down their eyes and piss will run down their legs, then he will scoop up all the gold coins that they won, shine them all up real nice, turn them sideways and stick them straight up their candy asses. After that, Triple H and Chyna are seen backstage, and Triple H tells Chyna that if they see "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, he will get Austin before Austin sees him, and he will beat his ass tonight.

The Undertaker beats Big Show, Mankind, The Rock and Kane in a five-man Royla RUmble Rules Match. During the match, The Undertaker shows up in plain clothes and joins in on commentary, not even taking apart in the match until Big Show is about to be eliminated by The Rock, when he does the deed himself and gets rid of both men. (One of the referees for this match is WWF security guard JIm Dotson, who has been seen frequently on shows since 1998 and will continue to do so throughout the Attitude Era. The other is timekeeper Mark Yeaton.) After the match, Big Show confronts The Undertaker, but Mideon and Viscera show up and stand with The Undertaker. The Rock gets back in the ring and hits them all with a steel chair, but he eventually gets overpowered.

Before the next match, Hardcore Holly tells Chyna that she has had more than enough time to find a tag team partner, and that it's time for him to do what he should have done last week. Chyna shows up (with her own TitanTron video for the first time), but has no tag team partner. She takes on Hardcore and Crash Holly by herself.

Chyna beats Hardcore and Crash Holly. During the match, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn shows up and acts as Chyna's tag team partner, much to Chyna's chagrin. Referee Earl Hebner's twin brother Dave Hebner - who is now a road agent after originally working as a referee - is the referee for this match. After the match, Chyna and Gunn have words, then Jeff Jarrett shows up and smacks Chyna in the back with a frying pan. Debra and Miss Kitty show up with a shopping bag. Jarrett pulls an apron and a soup ladel out, and puts the apron on her wil placing the frying pan and the soup ladel in her hands. He then tells Chyna to start fixing him his supper.

Lilian Garcia interviews The Big Boss Man, who is holding a doggie bag. Inside it is the remains of Pepper. Boss Man says Al Snow had better be hungry, because after he's done kicking his ass, he will climb the pole, grab the bag, and forcefully feed it to Snow.

Al Snow beats The Big Boss Man in a Pepper On A Pole Match. Sgt. Slaughter is the referee for this match. During the match, The British Bulldog shows up with some expertly-handled Rottweilers. Boss Man takes the doggie bag off the pole, but tosses it out of the ring. Al Snow grabs it to win the match, then Boss Man is chased by the Rottweilers and falls over the guardrail as he gets away from them.

Backstage, Triple H tells Chyna that they will make history, and that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will not be ruining their plans. As they talk, Austin is seen overhearing and watching them from inside the back of a truck.

Test vs. Jeff Jarrett for the WWF Intercontinental Championship ends in a no-contest. Timekeeper Mark Yeaton is the referee for this match. During the match, Rodney and Pete Gas show up and watch the match from ringside, and they distract Test and Yeaton during the match. As this happens, Pete Gas attacks Test, and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon shows up to confront Rodney. Shane attacks Rodney, then Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and Shawn Stasiak also come to assist. At this point, the bell has rung, the match already having gotten out of control. Jarrett then attacks Test, and Stephanie checks on Test. Jarrett goes for the Figure Four Leg Lock on Stephanie, but Shane tackles Jarrett before he can lock the hold in. Jeff Jarrett retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon is seen leaving the arena with Test, whose left shoulder appears hurt.

Before the next match, Triple H says he has been given the right to choose the referee for his match. He has gone through the trouble to find someone who has a vested interest in the match, and asks WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to do him the honors and be the special guest referee. WWF co-owners Vince and Linda McMahon ask Shane if he is up for it, and Shane says he is up to it. Shane shows up, and is allowed to head to the ring by Triple H and Chyna's police detail. Triple H says there are numerous superstars in the WWF who could be considered for a title shot tonight, such as The Undertaker. He says he and The Undertaker would like to rip each other's hearts out, but The Undertaker is not the opponent. He mentions Big Show, but he has beaten his brains in with a sledgehammer already. He mentions Kane, but says he would hate to put him through the misery of beating him again. He tells Mankind to go play with his sock, then tells The Rock has some sort of fascination with inserting things into people's rectum and tells him to kiss his ass since it is not him. He says his opponent is somebody special, as this person is playing a game he wants no part of and wants to be a hero. He says he has taken it upon himself to get in the ring and steal his glory and thunder, and has "balls the size of grapefruits." He then says that if Vince McMahon wants to be a hero to his wife and be a star, he will give him that chance as he has had enough, and the fact of the matter is, he will put the WWF Championship on the line to get a piece of his ass. He then screams at Vince, then gives Linda a chance, saying she might not last long, but at least he will let her "ride [his] bench." At this point, Vince has had enough, and he heads to the ring. All the while, SHane cannot even believe what is going on. Vince finally shows up and heads to the ring, and asks Triple H to head to the back so they can discuss it like men. Triple H says the talking is over, and says it is the two of them in the ring, right now. Vince says Raw was personal, but he does not want to involve himself in WWF business. Nevertheless, he tells Triple H not to make it too personal. Triple H asks if Vince doesn't have the balls, and says he is calling Vince out. Vince flat out says "no," and Triple H tells Vince to head back to the back and hide behind his skirt, and to tell his sexually frustrated wife that if he can't get the job done, Triple H can keep it up all night for her. Vince attacks Triple H as soon as he turns his back. This starts the match.

Vince McMahon beas Triple H to become the WWF Champion! During the match, Triple H shoves referee Shane McMahon for confronting him for using a steel chair. Shane tackles Triple H, then Chyan gets in the ring and she and Triple H stomp Shane. Triple H then grabs the steel chair and smashes it into Shane's head. Linda McMahon heads to the ring wtih Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco trying to stop her. Triple H and Chyna make quick work of Patterson and Brisco, then Linda gets in the ring only to be grabbed by Chyna. Linda is forced to watch as Triple H punches Vince multiple times. Triple H is then about to put Vince in the Pedigree when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin comes out of the crowd. Linda McMahon gets away, and Austin stomps a mudhole in Triple H in the corner before hitting both Triple H and Chyna with a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin then places Vince McMahon on top of Triple, then drags Shane towards Vince and Triple H. Shane makes the three-count, and Vince McMahon becomes the WWF Champion. At 54 years old, he is the oldest man to win the title. After the match, Austin flees through the crowd, and Linda and Shane check on Vince while Triple H and Chyna chase after Austin. Vince, Linda, Shane, Patterson and Brisco celebrate in the ring to end the show.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for September 9, 1999

Kane is seen making his way to the arena when he encounter Triple H and Chyna outside. Tripe H attacks Kane with a wrench while Chyna uses a pipe. Big Show and The Undertaker go after Triple H and The Undertaker, and Big Show gets knocked out by Triple H after a low blow from Chyna.

Before the next match, The Big Boss Man asks "Who's the top dog now?" and says this is a very important question. He says Al Snow may be nuts, but he is crazy in his own kind of way after skinning Pepper and feeding him to Snow, and says nobody is crazier than him. He says that if he crazy enough to feed Pepper to Al Snow, he can rip the heart out of anybody in his way. He then issues an open challenge for the WWF Hardcore Championship to all the dog lovers out there, and promises to send them home with their tail tucked between their legs. The challenge is suddenly answered by none other than The British Bulldog, who has not been seen in almost two years.

The British Bulldog beats The Big Boss Man in his first WWF match since 1997 to become the WWF Hardcore Champion! After the match, Al Snow shows up dressed as Leif Cassidy, shoves a piece of paper in Boss Man's mouth, realizes he is dressed as Leif Cassidy, then dances around again. The British Bulldog stops Snow, hands him the WWF Harcore Championship and pats him on the shoulder before leaving.

Kane is seen outside of the arena, pouring gasoline in and on Triple H and Chyna's car. Triple H tries to get the WWF Championship out of the car, and he and Chyna get doused was gasoline. Kane then pulls out a charcoal grill lighter and chases after them with it.

Stevie Richards shows up with Edge and Christian before the next match, dressed for the most part like Christian. He is also carrying a cross in his hands.

Edge and Christian beat The New Brood (Jeff and Matt Hardy). During the match, Stevie Richards hits Gangrel with the Stevie Kick as the referee is preoccupied with the action happening outside of the ring. He also keeps Gangrel from breaking the pinfall that ends the match. After the match, the lights go out, but when they come back on, Kane is in the center of the ring. Ganfrel and the Hardys all get choke slammed. He then tells Triple H that tonight, he will burn the flesh from his body.

Lilian Garcia interviews The British Bulldog, who refuses to answer any questions as he leaves the arena.

X-Pac is seen entering the arena looking for Kane.

Lilian Garcia interviews Triple H. He says that if Kane wants to douse him in gasoline, he will douse him in his own blood. He says Kane can bring whatever he wants, but he will be bring both his sledgehammer and the WWF Championship, and he dares Kane to get both.

X-Pac shows up. He asks Kane to come to the ring. Kane shows up. X-Pac tells Kane to get his head straight, as he has the chance to be the WWF Champion, saying he has been there once and that he knows he can win it again. He then says he will have to win it without him. He tells Kane that he told him last week not to get involved in his match, and if he did, it was over. He says that the way things are going are no good for Kane, and says it is over between them. X-Pac then leaves the ring.

Two masked luchadores are seen entering the building, but they just so happen to be Chris Jericho and Howard Finkel.

Hardcore and Crash Holly show up. Hardcore Holly says it is no secret that he and Crash are looking for a fight. Not just any fight, but a super heavyweight fight. He asks for "a googly-eyed monkey" to come to the ring. He says everyone knows the proper requirements and qualifications, and that Crash has brought the scale to make sure any challenger meets it. Chyna suddenly shows up, and Hardcore Holly tells her that he does not wrestle women. He then says if she were a man with "those 200 pound sacks of silicon" on her chest, she just might meet the requirements. He then tells her to get out of the ring, and Chyna responds by hitting Hardcore Holly in the back with a scale. After taking the boots to Hardcore Holly, she forearms Crash off the apron.

Chyna beats Hardcore Holly by disqualification after Jeff Jarrett attacks Chyna. After the match, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn runs into the ring and chases Jarrett out of the ring. He then helps Chyna up only to hit her with the Fameasser. Hardcore and Crash Holly then fight again after Crash laughs at Hardcore Holly being beat up by Chyna.

X-Pac is seen leaving the arena, while Kane sits alone in a dark room.

The Rock and Mankind are seen entering the arena. Mankind mentions his new "Testicular Fortitude" shirt, and The Rock says he likes the shirt before saying it does not matter if Mankind likes his new shirt.

Bradshaw beats Buh Buh Ray Dudley by disqualification after D-Von Dudley gets involved. After the match, Faarooq gets involved, and a tag team brawl between The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) and The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) goes on until referees and officials restore order.

Lilian Garcia interviews The Big Boss Man, who says he has no idea what Al Snow and The British Bulldog are up to, but they have pissed him off. He says that sticking a piece of paper in his mouth will not not scare him, and says skinning Pepper and feeding him to Snow was a piece of cake, and that he will skin Snow and the Bulldog like pigs, as he always gets what he wants.

Test and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon show up. Stephanie brings out Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and WWF co-owner WWF co-owner Linda McMahon, who show up. Stephanie announced that she and Test will be married on Monday, October 11, and she invites all the fans. Test invites the entire world to witness him marry Stephanie. Suddenly, The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) shows up with Terri Runnels, and Stephanie says enough is enough. WWF co-owner Shane McMahon then shows up, and tells, not asks, The Mean Street Posse to leave the ring, as the war is over. The Posse and Terri leave, and Shane says he owes everyone in the ring an apology. He says his actions as of late have been totally inexcusable and that he has been an asshole, and says he was wrong. He says it is not easy for him to watch Stephanie grow up, and that he never thought she would stand before him as a woman. Shane says he thought he was doing the right thing, but he was wrong, and says Stephanie is her own woman now. He tells Stephanie she has his blessing to follow her heart and marry Test. He then tells Test to always do the right thing, and to always treat Stephanie right. Shane then extends his hand, and Test shakes it. Shane and Stephanie then hug.

Kane is seen backstage with a blowtorch.

Lilian Garcia interviews The Rock and Mankind. The Rock asks Lilian if she has a warm, fuzzy feeling and goosebumps running up and down her spine, then tells Lilian to "goosebump [her] ass on out of here.." The Rock then tells Big Show and The Undertaker that he and Mankind will beat them at their own game, and he will shovel the dirt on their own two candy asses. When all is said and done, he will dig them back up, turn the shovel sideways and stick it straight up their candy asses. Mankind says he has been thinking about this match all day, and says the thought of shoveling two tons of earth on The Undertaker and Big Show gives him a warm, fuzzy feeling inside and he likes it. He then sings the chorus to "Stayin' Alive" by The Bee Gees, but he changes the words to "Buried Alive."

Before the next match, Chyna carries a sledgehammer as she accompanies Triple H to the ring. Kane brings a blowtorch. Also, Mae Young and The Fabulous Moolah are seen in the front row.

Triple H retains the WWF Championship against Kane. During the match, Chyna distracts Kane by telling him she can talk to X-Pac for him, and this allows Triple H to get a cheap shot on Kane. Later on in the match, Chyna hits Kane from behind with a sledgehammer to allow Triple H to retain as referee Tim White checks on Triple H after a choke slam. After the match, Triple H is about to hit Kane with a sledgehammer again when Big Show and The Undertaker show up. Triple H and Chyna run to the back, then Big Show and The Undertaker approach Kane.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock is seen looking for Jericho backstage.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock shows up. Last Monday, Chris Jericho said he would confront him face-to-face tonight. The way he sees it, Jericho has two choices: come out and face him like a man, or he can go backstage, tear everything up, find him, drag him to the ring and beat him like the step-child that he is. Personally, he thinks Jericho will choose the second option, since he is a coward, but he gives him ten seconds to come to the ring and tells Jericho not to make him come get him. Shamrock then leaves the ring, and is halfway up the ramp when Jericho shows up. Instead of being in front of Jericho, Jericho is in the ring and locked inside a shark cage with an aluminum baseball bat in his hands. He says that if they were to meet face-to-face, he would be forced to destroy Shamrock and his reputation in one fell swoop. Shamrock goes for the bat in the shark cage, which Jericho says is here to protect not him, but to protect Shamrock from him. He then tells Shamrock to check the TitanTron for proof of that, and we see a picture of Jericho with Shamrock in the Lion Tamer from last week, and says it is a good thing Shamrock's face was left out of the picture, otherwise the terror on his face would have been seen. He then says Shamrock cannot handle him, because he is "one bad mamma jamma." Shamrock manages to grab the baseball bat from Jericho's hands, but Jericho tells him he is in a steel cage and that Shamrock cannot do anything. Jericho then commands Howard Finkel to raise the cage up, but the cage does not go anywhere. We then see a backstage confrontation between Howard Finkel and Lilian Garcia, Shamrock then bends the bars of the cage, pulls Jericho out and proceeds to beat him up. Referees and officials get in the ring, and a few of them receive a belly-to-belly suplex before Shamrock chases Jericho to the back.

We see footage from during the break where Chris Jericho and Howard Finkel run to the van. Jericho then fires Howard Finkel and leaves him high and dry.

Jeff Jarrett, Debra and Miss Kitty show up. Jarrett says he is embarrassed to be getting in the ring with a woman at Unforgiven, as he was always taught a woman's place is in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant. He says Chyna should not be getting in the ring with any man, let alone the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. He says this is a man's world, and that Chyna is a woman. He then spies The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young in the ring, and asks Moolah to come to the ring. She does, and allows the fans to give her the applause that she deserves. Jarrett then says that back in Moolah's day, the women knew their place and that a woman would not be caught dead in the ring with a man. Moolah says that is true, but only because they knew she would kick a man's ass just like Chyna will kick Jarrett's ass at Unforgiven. Jarrett grabs a guitar and smashes it into Moolah's head. Mae Young runs into the ring only to receive a Figure Four Leg Lock. Debra and Miss Kitty please with Jarrett to stop, and referees run into the ring to tell Jarrett to get out. Referees check on Moolah and Mae Young afterwards.

We see a short film starring Val Venis titled "Enter the Big Valbowski," where Val Venis tells "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman that he is a man of peace, not war, and in his business, they don't believe in violence or use instruments of pain. He says that he uses instrument of pleasure before getting under the covers with a young, blonde-haired woman.

Big Show and The Undertaker beat The Rock and Mankind in a Tag Team Buried Alive match to become WWF Tag Team Champions for the second time. It is the third reign for The Undertaker and the second for Big Show. At one point in the match, Big Show tosses Mankind from the stage to the burial plot next to the ramp. Amazingly, Mankind gets the Mandible Claw on Big Show when Big Show makes it to the burial plot, and they both tumble in. Mankind eventually puts Big Show into unconsciousness and shovels dirt on top of him while Th Rock and Undertaker brawl in the back. Backstage, Triple H attacks The Rock, and The Undertaker runs off. Kane goes after Triple H, and Chyna hits Kane in the back with a steel chair to absolutely no effect. Kane chases after Chyna, then The Undertaker returns to the burial plot. Big Show manages to get out of the burial plot, and Big Show puts dirt on Mankind as The Undertaker goes to the back only to be attacked by The Rock. As The Rock and The Undertaker brawl on the stage, Triple H shows up and hits Big Show in the back with a sledgehammer so he can bury Mankind himself. Referee Earl Hebner calls for the bell, and Big Show and The Undertaker are tag team champions again. After the match, an ambulance pulls up. Triple H notices the ambulance and goes towards the back to see what is going on. Out of the back of the ambulance pops "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who proceeds to beat up Triple H and throw him into the back of the ambulance. Austin then gets in the driver's seat of the ambulance and drives off. He then gets out in front of Triple H and Chyna's car, then gets in a semi-truck with a WWF logo on the door and rams the ambulance - with Triple H still inside - into a dumpster.

Layin' da SmackDown! - SmackDown recap for August 26, 1999

Triple H and Chyna show up to start tonight's show. Triple H says he would normally have two words for everybody, but tonight, he has four. The Rock is seen watching from backstage as Triple H says that he proved every corporate head honcho who held him back and said he wouldn't do it wrong, having proven to be what he said he was: the game. He says "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Mankind are not the game, especially since he beat Mankind last Monday. He says they can line them up and he can take them down, whether they be "The People's Ass" The Rock or anybody else. The Rock shows up, and confronts Triple H for coming to "The People's Show" and calling himself The Game, and tells Triple H that if he is "The Game," then he needs to head back to the drawing board because his game absolutely sucks. The Rock then announces that he will beat Triple H's monkey ass and become WWF Champion, and that there are two things Triple H can do about it: absolutely nothing and like it. Triple H tells The Rock that if he wants to play in his game, he has to be in his league, and says The Rock is nowhere near his league. He tells The Rock to go back to the back and get lost. The Rock says there is a lack of communication, leaving him with three options: walking to the back, taking off his $800 shirt and starting his promo all over again; take the WWF Championship, put some Icy Hot on it and stick it straight up Triple H's candy ass. Triple H says that The Rock isn't even in his league, he can't even hold his jock. The Rock tells Triple H to shut up before mentioning his third choice: heading down to the ring, hear the fans chant his name, take one of his $600 shoes off, turn it sideways and stick it straight up Triple H's candy ass. Suddenly, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up and tells The Rock to hold, saying that they might as well make it official if they're going to do this, and if the people want it, they will receive. The Rock vs. Triple H for the WWF Championship is made official for tonight, and to make sure there are no shenanigans, he makes himself the special guest referee for the match. All of a sudden, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up from out of the crowd, and says that if Shawn wants to make the match, that is fine; however, he will use his powers to make himself second special guest referee to keep his eyes on Shawn. Shawn tells Shane that will be a bit difficult, as Shane will be a tad busy tonight. Since he can book any WWF wrestler in any match at any time, and since Shane is coming off a fine performance at SummerSlam, Shane is an official competitor. He then says Shane won't be referee, since he has booked him in a match with someone that he screwed out of the title tonight: Mankind, who shows up. Mankind says all the talk about "stroking and screwing" has gotten him excited, and says he will unbutton his $3 "Salvation Army special," loosen up his tie that was given to him free by the WWF, begin walking down The People's Aisle, and listen while the dozens - and dozens - of his fans all chant his name. The Rock then says "piss on this talk," then says he is going to lay the smack down on Triple H's ass, and he and The Rock fight Triple H and Shane. The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) get into the ring, but The Rock and Mankind take them all down immediately.

Billy Gunn beats Jeff Jarrett. During the match, Chyna shows up, and Miss Kitty tries to hand Jarrett a guitar only for Chyna to grab it. Chyna swings at Miss Kitty, but ends up hitting Debra and distracting Jarrett, allowing Billy Gunn to get the win. After the match, Billy Gunn tries to moon Chyna up close to tell her to kiss his ass only to get hit with a low blow.

Lilian Garcia interviews Al Snow, who tells The Big Boss Man that Pepper is a very small dog and very confused, and pleads with him not to hurt Pepper. Whatever Boss Man wants, he will do. He says he is not a begging man, but he begs Boss Man to bring Pepper back safely.

Ring announcer Howard Finkel is seen shining Chris Jericho's boots backstage.

Test is seen backstage waiting for WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon and the answer to his marriage proposal made earlier this week on Raw.

It is announced that this Monday night, a special presentation of Raw will air at 11 PM Easten, 10 PM Central and 9 PM Pacific.

The team of Big Show and The Undertaker beats the team of X-Pac and Kane and The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. When the match begins, The Undertaker guests on commentary, saying that Big Show will have to go it alone in this match in order to prove himself, attain his knowledge and realize that he is a killer; until he realizes he is a killer, he is leaving him to defend himself. He also says that he is a tag team champion because he wants to be, and that the tag titles are the first step in a major plan that he will reveal only when Big Show is ready. At one point, The Undertaker has to fire Big Show up by slapping him in the face at ringside.

Test meets with WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon backstage at last. When he asks her if she has an answer to his marriage proposal, she simply says "yep," then walks off.

The Big Boss Man shows up. He says Al Snow is looking for him and that he's not that hard to find. He calls Snow out, saying everybody knows he has something of his. Snow shows up, and Boss Man tells him to come no further. Boss Man says Pepper is safe for now, but he is not a patient man, but if Pepper bites him one more time, he will send Pepper straight to Hell. He tells Snow that if he wants Pepper back, all he has to do bring the WWF Hardcore Championship out to the ring. When he does, he will bring out Pepper. He tells Snow that he will get Pepper back - win, lose or draw - while he gets his shot at the Hardcore. He also tells Snow not to let anything happen between now and the time he returns with the Hardcore title, or else he will take Pepper into a cold, dark place and show him what hard times is all about.

The Big Boss Man beats Al Snow to become the WWF Hardcore Champion when it becomes obvious that Snow is more concerned with Pepper's safety than anything else. After the match, Boss Man goes back on his word and takes Pepper away.

Backstage, X-Pac wants Kane to stay away from, saying that he is the weak link in the team.

Al Snow finds out that Pepper is not at the commentary table where The Big Boss Man left him, and runs frantically to the back.

Al Snow angrily looks for The Big Boss Man backstage, desperately wanting Pepper back.

Before the next match, "Road Dogg" Chris Jericho says that in prison, he could not even trade him for a pack of cigarettes. Tonight, he wants to whip his ass.

"Road Dogg" Jesse James beats Chris Jericho - in what is the latter's very first televised match in the WWF - by disqualification. At one point in the match, ring announcer Howard Finkel shows up and tries to refresh Jericho with a can of Hansen's Energy Drink, but the drink gets splashed into Road Dogg's eyes when he gets too close. Finkel then runs away. Shortly after this, Jericho introduces a table into the match, and Jericho eventually power bombs Road Dogg into it, ending the match just before Jericho puts him in the Lion Tamer. Referees and officials have to rush in to pull Jericho off Road Dogg.

Chris Jericho boasts about his win and asks ring announcer Howard Finkel if he sees why he is the most dominant man in the WWF, then the two of them walk to a nearby monitor. After seeing ring announcer Tony Chimel on the monitor, Jericho tells Finkel that Tony Chimel has done nothing to deserve being a ring announcer. He commands Finkel to run to the ring and prove to him that he is the best, a warrior and a true Jerichoholic.

Ring announcer Howard Finkel shows up to The Ultimate Warrior's theme song, and confronts ring annoucer Tony Chimel, saying that he is the best at what he does and wants his job back right now. He then shoves Chimel to the mat, and when The Fink tries to do his job, Chimel strikes back while Chris Jericho watches from backstage. Jericho then shows up and checks on Finkel, then Chimel gets back to his job. "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock bumps into Jericho on the way, then Jericho sends Finkel after him. Shamrock grabs and twists Finkel's finger when Finkel chides him, then Jericho hits Shamorck from behind with a steel chair, then spits on him before fleeing with Finkel. Shamrock runs to the back to chase after both men.

Shortly after this, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon shows up. She asks Test to come to the ring, calling her "Andrew" in the process. Test shows up. She tells Test she wanted to wait until everything was right, and now that they are alone in the ring, she has an answer to his marriage proposal. Test says that if she wants it to be right, to let him make it right, then gets down on one ring and produces an engagement ring. Test pops the question, and Stephanie says yes. They both kiss in the ring, then WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up with The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs), holding her back as the Posse takes the boots to Test. Mankind runs in with a steel chair, taking the Posse out, then grabs a microphone and tells Shane to leave this alone. He says this is his second time out in the ring and he is not going down the aisle again, as they are going to have their match right now. He says that since Shane is such a big man with a steel chair that he will sweeten the deal by leaving the chair he smashed into the Posse's heads with in the ring if he finds the testicular fortitude to get in the ring, and gives him one shot. He then says he will be "hanging with the Posse" while Shane is thinking about it. Almost immediately after Mankind turns his back, Shane runs into the back and smacks the chair into Mankind's back, but Mankind gets up, fights back and then hits him with the microphone before clotheslining him out of the ring. Mankind then clears the ring, and a referee is in the ring. Shortly after this, Test gets back up, and Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco take out The Posse, and even Stephanie gets involved by getting on top of Pete Gas and trying to put him in a sleeper hold. Test then runs into the crowd to chase after Pete Gas, who he has whipped with a belt. Mankind then gets Mr. Socko ready, and has Shane in the Mandible Claw when Chyna and Triple H show up. Chyna distracts referee Earl Hebner so Triple H can smack a steel chair into Mankind's back. Shane McMahon beats Mankind.

Chris Jericho and ring announcer Howard Finkel are seen trying to flee from "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. Jericho takes off without The Fink, and after Shamrock realizes Jericho is gone, he grabs Finkel and tells him to never put his hands on him again. He then smells something, and realizes that Finkel has crapped his pants. (This may remind some viewers of No Holds Barred.)

We see footage from earlier this week where Michael Cole interviews "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who has recently suffered a torn ligament and tendon damage to his now bandaged-up knee due to Triple H's assault on him with a steel chair at SummerSlam. Austin says he knew he was hurt, but he had to get in the ring. He says that he will be fine after some rehab, and says Triple H has some hell to pay when he gets back. As for Triple H saying he will never be the same again, Austin calls bullcrap on that and says only he will decide if he is the same and if he is 100%. When they get in the ring again, it will be for the WWF Championship, and Triple H will see just how better his knee is. He has no problem with Triple H taking a play from his playbook as he knows he has influenced a few people in the locker room, and says it takes "a mean son-of-a-bitch" to win the WWF Championship. He then says Triple H hasn't read the whole book, and he will beat his ass when ty get back in the ring again.

Tori beats Ivory in an Evening Gown Match, and Luna Vachon has to rush into the ring to keep Tori from getting her hands on Ivory again.

Lilian Garcia interviews Triple H and Chyna. Chyna tells Lilian that she doesn't know who she is or where she comes from, and tells her to show Triple H some respect. Triple H says that if The Rock wants to play the game, he can step up to the plate all he wants and bring all he has, because it will not do him any good. He says that the WWF Championship is staying with him. As far as WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels goes, he can referee all he wants, but he had better remember to call it down the line and stay out of his way, or else he will make sure Shawn never walks again.

Al Snow looks for Pepper in the production truck.

Michael Cole, referee Jimmy Korderas and referee Earl Hebner congratulate Test and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon on the engagement.

Triple H retains the WWF Championship against The Rock. During the match, Shawn ejects Chyna from the match after hitting The Rock with a low blow at ringside. Triple H confronts Shawn as he escorts Chyna to the back briefly, then runs back into the ring and into a DDT from The Rock. WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up and confronts Shawn briefly, then watches the match from ringside until The Rock goes for a pinfall, and distracts Shawn again. Shane tries it once again after a neckbreaker from The Rock to Triple H only to be knocked off the apron. The Rock then hits the Rock Bottom on Triple H, but when he goes for The People's Elbow, he suddenly gets hit with a superkick by Shawn Michaels, who then proceeds to spit on The Rock and give Triple H the win, turning heel in the process. Chyna shows back up after the match, and hugs Shawn, proving that it was all a set-up.
