Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for April 5, 1999

The show begins with a brief video of Sting in an abandoned building, followed by WCW's new logo, a brand new intro featuring The Nitro Girls and a new logo for the show.

Goldberg is seen at the WCW offices with a tumbler in his hand.

Nitro debuts a brand-new set. The commentary table is moved to ringside, and the commentary table is changed to a two-man team of Tony Schiavone and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan for the entire show. (Mike Tenay and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko are moved to Thunder.)

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Goldberg, who shows up with a tumbler. He says that ever since he lost the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, he has been on the receiving end of the ultimate screwjob. He was conveniently left off last month's pay-per-view, and if WCW President "The Nature" Boy Ric Flair has it his way, he will be left off of this month's. As for tonight, he takes matters into his own hands. He says that the tumbler and the numbers in it are part of "The Goldberg lottery" tonight, and everyone's name is in it including Flair's. The name he pulls right now is the next victim at the next pay-per-view. Suddenly, Kevin Nash shows up, makes a reference to Bret "The Hit Man" Hart's metal plate underneath his jersey from last week, and says he has done this for 10 years and says that in 10 years' time, everyone will be talking about him because he stopped Goldberg's streak. Goldberg tells Nash he can live in the past all he wants, but today is another day. Nash does Goldberg a favor and tells him to forget about the lottery because he has him at Spring Stampede. Goldberg wishes himself a merry Christmas and leaves.

WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, the latter of whom is on the phone, witness what has happened between Goldberg and Kevin Nash on a monitor. Anderson tells Flair he will take care of it.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Riki Rachtman plugs the WCW Hotline.

Hak beats Kendall Windham in a Kendo Stick Match.

We see a video package for Meng.

At the WCW offices, Goldberg walks into WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's office...and catches him and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson with Lex Luger and Miss Elizabeth.

At the WCW offices, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson catches up with Kevin Nash, who tells Nash that WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair needs to see him.

We see a video package for Konnan vs. Disco Inferno at Spring Stampede.

Konnan beats Lizmark Jr. with the Tequila Sunrise.

WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Kevin Nash meets in Flair's office.

We see a video package for Scott Steiner.

At the WCW offices, Kevin Nash and WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair have gotten done talking. Nash runs into Hollywood Hogan, who is surprised that Nash is talking with Flair. Nash says he is just taking care of business and that it is just business, and after Nash leaves, Hogan says to himself "It'd better be."

At the WCW offices, Nash is seen talking to referee Charles Robinson, who is in a suit and tie. Hogan walks in on Nash and Robinson as Robinson leaves, and wants to know what is going on. Nash says he is just making sure Robinson is in their back pocket, but Hogan wants to know why Nash is not returning any of his calls and wants to know if they are on the same team. Nash tells him they are on the same team, and Hogan says that Nash's attitude has been different from when they first jumped into the reunification of the nWo. Nash says he is just tired.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW President "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. As far as Goldberg goes, Goldberg is a former champion wanting to be where he is, and says Kevin Nash made himself look good tonight by calling him out and making a match against him at Spring Stampede. Since Flair feels so good about himself tonight and looks as only he can look, he takes the World title off of Spring Stampede and will defend the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Hollywood Hogan here tonight. Hollywood Hogan rushes in and says he and the nWo-ites are tired of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and taht he has no problem kicking his butt tonight. Flair says that he can take the match away as fast as he made it if he touches him before match time. Hogan says he will not lay a hand on him until he gets dressed for the ring, because as soon as he does, the title will be his and he will prove he is the most powerful man in wrestling today. Flair says he is making the match tonight because one of them needs to know who the man is. Hogan says he hopes Flair is that fired up when the match starts, because when it happens, the title is coming back to him as it was made for him. Flair says this will be the last time he ever hears Hogan's name ahead of his, and Hollywood Hogan agrees, saying that he will never give him another title shot for as long as he is World champion. All of a sudden, Diamond Dallas Page shows up and says it is no secret there is no love lost between him and them, and that it is no secret that this is a main event worthy of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only thing that he thinks would make it better is if Flair made it a three-way dance. Flair deems the idea preposterous, and DDP says he is sick and tired about them whining about the belt. Hogan is okay with it, saying he'll both them both and take the World title. Flair tells Hogan this is between the two of them. Goldberg shows up, and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson is seen backstage watching what is taking place on a monitor. Goldberg tells Flair he didn't make himself clear, and that if the World title is involved, he is in the dance. Flair says he didn't make himself clear, and tells Goldberg he isn't doing anything tonight. Goldberg grabs Flair by the coat collar and tosses him to the mat. Flair tells Goldberg he is in a lot of trouble as he leaves the ring, and says he'll see all of them in the ring. DDP leaves, then Hogan and Goldberg stare off in the aisle.

Before the next match, Scott Steiner tells the crowd they have someone to cheer for, and calls Diamond Dallas Page the biggest piece of white trash in WCW. He says DDP made two statements and told two lies: that he wanted revenge against him (which Scott rebuts by asking Page why he didn't get in the United States title tournament and meet him in the finals) and that he didn't agree to give him Kimberly for 30 days after SuperBrawl IX (which Scott rebuts by saying that DDP did not comply after seven days and that the matter will be dealt with in a court of law). He says that is neither here nor there, as all the women are on his rollercoaster of love, and that he does not have 30 days or 30 nights for Kimberly, to explain why all the "hooches" say there is nothing finer than Scott Steiner, or to show Kimberly what a physical "phenonemon" he is, but all he needs is one night for Kimberly to call him "Big Bad Booty Daddy" for the rest of her life. If DDP wants revenge against him, he will have to give Kimberly up to him for one night, and he will soon be nothing but a memory. When Meng shows up for the match, Scott Steiner is seen yelling at Tony Schiavone for supposedly talking trash.

Scott Steiner beats Meng to advance in the United States title tournament after countering the Tongan Death Grip with an eye poke and a low blow before using the ropes for leverage during the pinfall. During the match, it is announced that the Four Corners Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship later tonight will be a Texas Tornado match, which means that Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will all be in the ring at the same time.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

One of the riggers in the rafters is confused for Sting, then the brief video clip is replayed.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr. retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against Raven and Saturn. During the match, Raven vaults Rey into Saturn, who is knocked into the referee. Rey hits Raven with the top rope hurricanrana, but Saturn counters a springboard move into a Death Valley Driver. Dean Malenko and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit go after Raven and Saturn, and Benoit hits a top rope headbutt on Saturn before Malenko places Rey on top of Saturn and Kidman revives the referee.

We see Hollywood Hogan warming up for his match later tonight in the locker room.

Booker T retains the WCW World Television Championship against Chris Jericho by disqualification after Scott Steiner tries to interfere with a steel chair only for Booker to see him coming and send him out of the ring. Jericho tries to clothesline Booker out of the ring, but Booker sends Jericho over the top rope and into Steiner. After that, the bell is called and the match is over.

Buff Bagwell beats Bam Bam Bigelow. During the match, Bam Bam Bigelow whips Buff Bagwell into referee Mickey Jay, knocking Jay out. Hak and Chastity show up and attack Bigelow with a kendo stick before spraying Bigelow with a fire extinguisher. This allows Buff Bagwell to hit the Buff Blockbuster for the win.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

We see a video package for Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash at Spring Stampede.

Kevin Nash guests on commentary for the next match.

Goldberg vs. Hollywood Hogan vs. Diamond Dallas Page vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship ends in a no-contest after Kevin Nash attacks Goldberg and Sting rappels down from the rafters and chases Hogan and Nash out of the ring. Sting is seen pointing his bat at the monitors. We then see an announcement where "Macho Man" Randy Savage - who has not been seen in some time - announces that DDP, Hogan, Flair and Sting will be in a Four Corners Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Spring Stampede and that he will be the special guest referee.
